| 4:1 | Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind, because, he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, |
| 4:2 | that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. |
| 4:3 | Because, we spent enough of our former life in doing the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lustfulness, desires, drunkenness, partying, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries, |
| 4:4 | in concerning these things they think it is strange that you do not run with them in the same excessive wastefulness, speaking evil of you, |
| 4:5 | who will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. |
| 4:6 | Because, for this reason was the gospel also preached to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. |
| 4:7 | But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be sober and watchful in prayer. |
| 4:8 | And above all things have fervent love among yourselves, because "love will cover the multitude of sins." |
| 4:9 | Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. |
| 4:10 | As each one has received the gift, even so also minister the same to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. |
| 4:11 | If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God gives, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen. |
| 4:12 | Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to test you, as though some strange thing happened to you; |
| 4:13 | but rejoice to the degree that you participate in Christ's sufferings, that when His glory will be revealed , you may also be glad with exceeding joy. |
| 4:14 | If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. |
| 4:15 | But let none of you suffer as a murderer, as a thief, as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people's matters. |
| 4:16 | Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter. |
| 4:17 | Because, the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? |
| 4:18 | Now "if the righteous are scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?" |
| 4:19 | Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit the preservation of their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator. |
| 4:1 | Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for vs in the flesh, arme your selues likewise with the same minde, which is, that he which hath suffered in the flesh, hath ceased from sinne, |
| 4:2 | That he hence forward should liue (as much time as remaineth in the flesh) not after the lusts of men, but after the will of God. |
| 4:3 | For it is sufficient for vs that we haue spet the time past of ye life, after the lust of the Gentiles, walking in wantonnes, lustes, drunkennes, in gluttonie, drinkings, and in abominable idolatries. |
| 4:4 | Wherein it seemeth to them strange, that yee runne not with them vnto the same excesse of riot: therefore speake they euill of you, |
| 4:5 | Which shall giue accounts to him, that is readie to iudge quicke and dead. |
| 4:6 | For vnto this purpose was the Gospell preached also vnto the dead, that they might bee condemned, according to men in the flesh, but might liue according to God in the spirit. |
| 4:7 | Now the ende of all things is at hand. Be ye therefore sober, and watching in prayer. |
| 4:8 | But aboue all thinges haue feruent loue among you: for loue shall couer the multitude of sinnes. |
| 4:9 | Be ye harberous one to another, without grudging. |
| 4:10 | Let euery man as hee hath receiued the gift, minister the same one to another, as good disposers of the manifolde grace of God. |
| 4:11 | If any man speake, let him speake as the wordes of God. If any man minister, let him do it as of the abilitie which God ministreth, that God in al things may be glorified through Iesus Christ, to whome is prayse and dominion for euer, and euer, Amen. |
| 4:12 | Dearely beloued, thinke it not strange concerning the firie triall, which is among you to proue you, as though some strange thing were come vnto you: |
| 4:13 | But reioyce, in asmuch as ye are partakers of Christs suffrings, that when his glory shall appeare, ye may be glad and reioyce. |
| 4:14 | If yee be railed vpon for the Name of Christ, blessed are ye: for the spirit of glory, and of God resteth vpon you: which on their part is euill spoken of: but on your part is glorified. |
| 4:15 | But let none of you suffer as a murtherer, or as a thiefe, or an euil doer, or as a busibodie in other mens matters. |
| 4:16 | But if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not bee ashamed: but let him glorifie God in this behalfe. |
| 4:17 | For the time is come, that iudgement must beginne at the house of God. If it first beginne at vs, what shall the ende be of them which obey not the Gospel of God? |
| 4:18 | And if the righteous scarcely bee saued, where shall the vngodly and the sinner appeare? |
| 4:19 | Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God, commit their soules to him in well doing, as vnto a faithfull Creator. |
| 4:1 | For as moche as christ hath suffred for vs in the flesshe arme youre selves lyke wyse with the same mynde: for he which suffereth in the flesshe ceasith fro synne |
| 4:2 | that he hence forwarde shuld lyve as moche tyme as remayneth in the flesshe: not after ye lustes of men but after the will of God. |
| 4:3 | For it is sufficient for vs that we have spent the tyme that is past of the lyfe after the will of the gentyls walkinge in wantannes lustes dronkennes in eatinge drinkinge and in abominable ydolatrie. |
| 4:4 | And it semeth to them a straunge thinge that ye runne not also with them vnto the same excesse of ryote and therfore speake they evill of you |
| 4:5 | which shall geve a coptes to him that is redy to iudge quycke and deed. |
| 4:6 | For vnto this purpose verely was ye gospell preached vnto the (deed) that they shuld be condempned of men in ye flesshe but shuld live before God in the sprete. |
| 4:7 | The ende of all thinges is at honde. Be ye therfore discrete and sober yt ye maye be apte to prayers. |
| 4:8 | But above all thinges have fervet love amoge you. For love covereth the multitude of synnes. |
| 4:9 | Be ye herberous one to another and that wt out grudginge. |
| 4:10 | As every man hath receaved the gyfte minister the same one to another as good ministers of the manyfolde grace of God. |
| 4:11 | Yf eny man speake let him talke as though he spake ye wordes of God. If eny man minister let him do it as of ye abilitie which god ministreth vnto him. That god in all thinges maye be glorified thorow Iesus Christ to whom be prayse and dominion for ever and whyll the worlde stondeth. Amen. |
| 4:12 | Dearly beloved be not troubled in this heate which now is come amoge you to trye you as though some strauge thinge had happened vnto you: |
| 4:13 | but reioyce in as moche as ye are partetakers of Christes passions that when his glory appereth ye maye be mery and glad. |
| 4:14 | If ye be rayled vpon for the name of Christ happie are ye. For the sprete of glory and the sprete of god resteth apon you. On their parte he is evyll spoken of: but on youre parte he is glorified. |
| 4:15 | Se that none of you suffre as a murtherer or as a thefe or an evyll doar or as a busybody in other mens matters. |
| 4:16 | Yf eny man suffre as a Christe man let him not be ashamed: but let him glorifie god on his behalfe. |
| 4:17 | For the tyme is come that iudgement must begynne at the housse of god. If it fyrst begynne at vs what shall the ende be of them which beleve not the gospell of god? |
| 4:18 | And yf the righteous scasly be saved: where shall the vngodly and the sinner appere? |
| 4:19 | Wherfore let them that suffer accordynge to the will of god commit their soules to him with well doynge as vnto a faythfull creator |
