>
1:1Simon Peter a seruaunte, and an Apostle of Iesus Christe, to them whyche haue obtained lyke precyous faith wyth vs in the rightuousnes that commeth of oure God and sauiour Iesu Christ.
1:2Grace wyth you, and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Iesus Christ oure Lorde.
1:3Accordinge as hys godlye power hath geuen vnto vs al thinges that pertayne vnto lyfe and godlines, thorowe the knowledge of him that hath called vs by vertue & glory,
1:4by the meanes, wherof are geuen vnto vs excellent and most great promises, that by the helpe of them ye should be partakers of the godly nature, in that ye flee the corruption of worldelye luste.
1:5And herunto geue al diligence, in youre fayth, mynyster vertue, and in vertue knowledge,
1:6and in knowledge temperancie, and in temperauncie, pacience, in pacience, Godlynes,
1:7in Godlines brotherly kyndnes, in brotherlye kindnes, loue.
1:8For yf these thinges be amonge you and are plenteous, they wyll make you, that ye neyther shalbe ydle nor vnfruteful in the knowledge of oure Lord Iesu Christe.
1:9But he that lacketh these thinges, is blind and gropeth for the waye with his hand, and hath forgotten that he was pourged from his olde synnes.
1:10Wherfore brethren, geue the more diligence for to make your callinge and eleccion sure. For if ye do suche thinges, ye shal neuer erre.
1:11Yea and by this meanes an entringe in, shalbe minystred vnto you aboundantlye into the euerlastinge kingdome of oure Lorde and sauiour Iesus Christ.
1:12Wherfore I wyll not be negligente to put you alwayes in remembraunce of such thynges, though that ye knowe them your selues, and be also stablyshed in the presente trueth.
1:13Notwithstanding I thinke it mete, (as long as I am in this tabernacle) to stere you vp by puttynge you in remembraunc
1:14for as muche as I am sure how that the tyme is at hande, that I must put of my tabernacle, euen as our Lord Iesus Christ hath shewed me.
1:15I wil enforce therfore that on euerye syde ye myght haue wherwith to stere vp the remembraunce of these thynges after my departinge.
1:16For we folowed not deceiuable fables, when we opened vnto you the power and comminge of our Lord Iesus Christ, but wyth our eyes we saw his maieste, euen then verelye,
1:17when he receiued of God the father honoure and glory, and when there came such a voice to hym from the excellente glorie: This is my deare beloued sonne in whome I haue delyte.
1:18This voice we hearde when it came from heauen beynge wyth hym in the holy mounte.
1:19We haue also a ryght sure worde of prophesye, whervnto yf ye take hede, as vnto a light, that shineth in a darcke place, ye do wel vntyll the daye dawne, and the daye starre aryse in youre hertes.
1:20So that ye fyrste knowe this, that no prophesye in the scripture hath any priuate interpretacion.
1:21For the scrypture came neuer by the wyl of man, but holye men of God spake as they were moued by the holy ghoste.

1:1Simon Peter a seruant and an Apostle of Iesus Christ, to you which haue obteined like precious faith with vs by the righteousnesse of our God and Sauiour Iesus Christ:
1:2Grace and peace be multiplied to you, through the acknowledging of God, and of Iesus our Lord,
1:3According as his diuine power hath giuen vnto vs all things that perteine vnto life and godlinesse, through the acknowledging of him that hath called vs vnto glory and vertue.
1:4Whereby most great and precious promises are giuen vnto vs, that by them ye should be partakers of the diuine nature, in that ye flee the corruption, which is in the worlde through lust.
1:5Therefore giue euen all diligence thereunto: ioyne moreouer vertue with your faith: and with vertue, knowledge:
1:6And with knowledge, temperance: and with temperance, patience: and with patience, godlines:
1:7And with godlines, brotherly kindnes: and with brotherly kindnes, loue.
1:8For if these things be among you, and abound, they will make you that ye neither shalbe idle, nor vnfruitfull in the acknowledging of our Lord Iesus Christ:
1:9For he that hath not these things, is blinde, and can not see farre off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his olde sinnes.
1:10Wherefore, brethren, giue rather diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye doe these things, ye shall neuer fall.
1:11For by this meanes an entring shalbe ministred vnto you aboundantly into the euerlasting kingdome of our Lord and Sauiour Iesus Christ.
1:12Wherefore, I will not be negligent to put you alwayes in remembrance of these things, though that ye haue knowledge, and be stablished in the present trueth.
1:13For I thinke it meete as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stirre you vp by putting you in remembrance,
1:14Seeing I knowe that the time is at hand that I must lay downe this my tabernacle, euen as our Lord Iesus Christ hath shewed me.
1:15I will endeuour therefore alwayes, that ye also may be able to haue remembrance of these things after my departing.
1:16For we followed not deceiuable fables when we opened vnto you the power, and comming of our Lord Iesus Christ, but with our eyes we saw his maiestie:
1:17For he receiued of God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voyce to him from that excellent glory, This is my beloued Sonne, in whom I am well pleased.
1:18And this voyce we heard when it came from heauen, being with him in the Holy mount.
1:19We haue also a most sure worde of the Prophets, to the which ye doe well that yee take heede, as vnto a light that shineth in a darke place, vntill the day dawne, and the day starre arise in your hearts.
1:20So that yee first knowe this, that no prophecie of the Scripture is of any priuate interpretation.
1:21For the prophecie came not in olde time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moued by the holy Ghost.

1:1Simon Peter, a seruant & an Apostle of Iesus Christ, to them that haue obtained like precious Faith with vs, through the righteousnes of God, and our Sauiour Iesus Christ.
1:2Grace and peace be multiplied vnto you through the knowledge of God, and of Iesus our Lord,
1:3According as his diuine power hath giuen vnto vs all things that pertain vnto life and godlines, through the knowledge of him that hath called vs to glory and vertue.
1:4Whereby are giuen vnto vs exceeding great and precious promises, that by these you might bee partakers of the diuine nature, hauing escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
1:5And besides this, giuing all diligence, adde to your faith, vertue; and to vertue knowledge;
1:6And to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godlinesse;
1:7And to godlinesse, brotherly kindnesse; and to brotherly kindnesse, charitie.
1:8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that yee shall neither be barren, nor vnfruitfull in the knowledge of our Lord Iesus Christ.
1:9But hee that lacketh these things, is blind, and cannot see farre off, and hath forgotten that hee was purged from his old sinnes.
1:10Wherefore, the rather, brethren, giue diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye doe these things, ye shall neuer fall.
1:11For so an entrance shall be ministred vnto you abundantly, into the euerlasting kingdome of our Lord and Sauiour Iesus Christ.
1:12Wherefore I wil not be negligent to put you alwayes in remembrance of these things, though yee know them, and be stablished in the present trueth.
1:13Yea, I thinke it meete, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stirre you vp, by putting you in remembrance:
1:14Knowing that shortly I must put off this my Tabernacle, euen as our Lord Iesus Christ hath shewed mee.
1:15Moreouer, I will endeuour, that you may bee able after my decease, to haue these things alwayes in remembrance.
1:16For wee haue not followed cunningly deuised fables, when wee made knowen vnto you the power and comming of our Lord Iesus Christ, but were eye witnesses of his Maiestie.
1:17For hee receiued from God the Father, honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloued Sonne in whom I am well pleased.
1:18And this voice which came from heauen wee heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
1:19We haue also a more sure word of prophecie, whereunto yee doe well that ye take heede, as vnto a light that shineth in a darke place, vntill the day dawne, and the day starre arise in your hearts:
1:20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any priuate Interpretation:
1:21For the prophecie came not in olde time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moued by the holy Ghost.
