2 Peter - Chapter: 1


1:1	Simeon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who did obtain a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:
1:2	Grace to you, and peace be multiplied in the acknowledgement of God and of Jesus our Lord!
1:3	As all things to us His divine power (the things pertaining unto life and piety) hath given, through the acknowledgement of him who did call us through glory and worthiness,
1:4	through which to us the most great and precious promises have been given, that through these ye may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped from the corruption in the world in desires.
1:5	And this same also -- all diligence having brought in besides, superadd in your faith the worthiness, and in the worthiness the knowledge,
1:6	and in the knowledge the temperance, and in the temperance the endurance, and in the endurance the piety,
1:7	and in the piety the brotherly kindness, and in the brotherly kindness the love;
1:8	for these things being to you and abounding, do make `you' neither inert nor unfruitful in regard to the acknowledging of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1:9	for he with whom these things are not present is blind, dim-sighted, having become forgetful of the cleansing of his old sins;
1:10	wherefore, the rather, brethren, be diligent to make stedfast your calling and choice, for these things doing, ye may never stumble,
1:11	for so, richly shall be superadded to you the entrance into the age-during reign of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
1:12	Wherefore, I will not be careless always to remind you concerning these things, though, having known them, and having been established in the present truth,
1:13	and I think right, so long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up in reminding `you',
1:14	having known that soon is the laying aside of my tabernacle, even as also our Lord Jesus Christ did shew to me,
1:15	and I will be diligent that also at every time ye have, after my outgoing, power to make to yourselves the remembrance of these things.
1:16	For, skilfully devised fables not having followed out, we did make known to you the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but eye-witnesses having become of his majesty --
1:17	for having received from God the Father honour and glory, such a voice being borne to him by the excellent glory: `This is My Son -- the beloved, in whom I was well pleased;'
1:18	and this voice we -- we did hear, out of heaven borne, being with him in the holy mount.
1:19	And we have more firm the prophetic word, to which we do well giving heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, till day may dawn, and a morning star may arise -- in your hearts;
1:20	this first knowing, that no prophecy of the Writing doth come of private exposition,
1:21	for not by will of man did ever prophecy come, but by the Holy Spirit borne on holy men of God spake.


1:1	Simon Peter a seruaunt and an Apostle of Iesus Christ to them which have obtayned lyke precious fayth with vs in the rightewesnes that commeth of oure God and savioure Iesus Christ.
1:2	Grace with you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Iesus oure Lorde.
1:3	Accordinge as his godly power hath geven vnto vs all thinges that pertayne vnto lyfe and godlynes thorow the knowledge of him that hath called vs by vertue and glory
1:4	by the meanes whereof are geven vnto vs excellent and moste greate promises that by the helpe of them ye shuld be partakers of the godly nature in that ye flye the corrupcion of worldy lust.
1:5	And hervnto geve all diligence: in youre fayth minister vertve and in vertue knowledge
1:6	and in knowledge temperancy and in temrancy pacience in pacience godlynes
1:7	in godlynes brotherly kyndnes in brotherly kyndnes love.
1:8	For yf these thinges be amonge you and are plenteous they wyll make you that ye nether shalbe ydle nor vnfrutefull in the knowledge of oure lorde Iesus Christ.
1:9	But he yt lacketh these thynges is blynde and gropeth for ye waye with his honde and hath forgotten yt he was pourged from his olde synnes.
1:10	Wherfore brethren geve the moare diligence forto make youre callynge and eleccion sure. For yf ye do soche thynges ye shall never erre.
1:11	Ye and by this meanes an entrynge in shall be ministred vnto you aboundantly in to the everlastynge kyngdome of oure lorde and saveoure Iesus Christ.
1:12	Wherfore I will not be necgligent to put you allwayes in remembraunce of soche thinges though that ye knowe them youre selves and be also stablisshed in the present trueth.
1:13	Notwithstodinge I thynke yt mete (as longe as I am in this tabernacle) to stere you vp by puttynge you in remebraunce
1:14	for as moch as I am sure howe that the tyme is at honde yt I must put of my tabernacle even as oure lorde Iesus Christ hath shewed me.
1:15	I will enfource therfore that on every syde ye myght have wherwith to stere vp the remembraunce of these thynges after my departynge.
1:16	For we folowed not decevable fables whe we openned vnto you the power and commynge of oure lorde Iesus Christ but with oure eyes we sawe his maieste:
1:17	even then verely when he receaved of god the father honour and glory and when ther came soche a voyce to him from excellent glorie. This is my dere beloved sonne in whom I have delite.
1:18	This voyce we hearde when it came from heven beynge with him in the holy mounte.
1:19	We have also a right sure worde of prophesye wher vnto yf ye take hede as vnto a lyght yt shyneth in a darke place ye do wel vntill the daye dawne and the daye starre aryse in youre hertes.
1:20	So that ye fyrst knowe this. that no prophesye in the scripture hath eny private interpretacio.
1:21	For the scripture came never by the will of man: but holy men of god spake as they were moved by the holy goost.

1:2	Grace and peace be multiplied with you thorow the knowlege of God and of Iesus Christ oure LORDE.
1:3	For so moch as his godly power hath geuen vs all thinges (that pertayne vnto life and godlynes) thorow the knowlege of him that hath called vs by his owne glorie and power,
1:4	wherby the excellent and most greate promyses are geue vnto vs: namely, that ye by the same shulde be partakers of the godly nature, yf ye flye the corrupte lust of the worlde:
1:5	Geue ye all youre diligence therfore here vnto, and in youre faith mynister vertue: in vertue, knowlege:
1:6	in knowlege, temperancy: in temperancy, pacience: in pacience, godlynes:
1:7	in godlynes, brotherly loue: in brotherly loue, generall loue.
1:8	For yf these thinges be plenteous in you, they will not let you be ydle nor vnfrutefull in ye knowlege of oure LORDE Iesus Christ.
1:9	But he that lacketh these thinges, is blynde, & gropeth for the waye with the hade, and hath forgotten, that he was clensed from his olde synnes.
1:10	Wherfore (brethre) geue the more diligence, to make youre callynge and eleccion sure: for yf ye do soch thinges, ye shal not fall,
1:11	and by this meanes shal there be plenteously mynistred vnto you an entrynge in vnto ye euerlastinge kyngdome of oure LORDE and Sauioure Iesus Christ.
1:12	Therfore wil I not be necliget to put you allwayes in remembraunce of soch thinges: though ye knowe them youre selues, and be stablished in the present trueth.
1:13	Notwithstondinge I thinke it mete, as loge as I am in this tabernacle, to stere you vp by puttinge you in remembraunce.
1:14	For I am sure, that I must shortly put of my tabernacle, euen as oure LORDE Iesus Christ hath shewed vnto me.
1:15	Yet wyl I do my diligece, that allwaye after my departynge ye maye haue wherwith to kepe these thinges in remembraunce.
1:16	For we folowed not deceaueable fables, whan we declared vnto you the power and commynge of oure LORDE Iesus Christ: but with oure eyes we sawe his maiestie,
1:17	whan he receaued of God the father honoure & prayse, by a voyce that came vnto him from the excellent glory, after this maner: This is my deare sonne, in whom I haue delyte.
1:18	And this voyce herde we broughte downe fro heauen, whan we were with him on the holy mount.
1:19	We haue also a sure worde of prophecie, and ye do well that ye take hede thervnto, as vnto a lighte that shyneth in a darke place vntyll the daye dawne, and the daye starre aryse in youre hertes.
1:20	And this shal ye knowe first, that no prophecie in the scripture is done of eny priuate interpretacion.
1:21	For the prophecie was neuer broughte by the wyll of man, but the holy men of God spake, as they were moued of ye holy goost.
