| 3:1 | Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle, in both which I stir up your pure minds by the method of remembrance, |
| 3:2 | that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken beforehand by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, |
| 3:3 | knowing this first, that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, |
| 3:4 | and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? Because, since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation." |
| 3:5 | Because, they are willfully ignorant of this: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, |
| 3:6 | by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. |
| 3:7 | But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. |
| 3:8 | But, beloved, do not be ignorant of this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. |
| 3:9 | The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. |
| 3:10 | But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. |
| 3:11 | Seeing then that all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conduct and godliness, |
| 3:12 | looking for and hastening to the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? |
| 3:13 | Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. |
| 3:14 | Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; |
| 3:15 | and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation, just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, |
| 3:16 | as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things which are hard to understand, which unlearned and unstable people twist, as they do also the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. |
| 3:17 | You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; |
| 3:18 | but grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen. |
| 3:1 | This seconde Epistle I nowe write vnto you, beloued, wherewith I stirre vp, and warne your pure mindes, |
| 3:2 | To call to remembrance the wordes, which were tolde before of the holy Prophetes, and also the commandement of vs the Apostles of the Lord and Sauiour. |
| 3:3 | This first vnderstande, that there shall come in the last dayes, mockers, which wil walke after their lustes, |
| 3:4 | And say, Where is the promise of his comming? for since the fathers died, all things continue alike from the beginning of the creation. |
| 3:5 | For this they willingly know not, that the heauens were of olde, and the earth that was of the water and by the water, by the word of God. |
| 3:6 | Wherefore the worlde that then was, perished, ouerflowed with the water. |
| 3:7 | But the heauens and earth, which are nowe, are kept by the same word in store, and reserued vnto fire against the day of condemnation, and of the destruction of vngodly men. |
| 3:8 | Dearely beloued, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord, as a thousande yeeres, and a thousande yeeres as one day. |
| 3:9 | The Lord of that promise is not slacke (as some men count slackenesse) but is pacient toward vs, and would haue no man to perish, but would all men to come to repentance. |
| 3:10 | But the day of the Lord will come as a thiefe in the night, in the which the heauens shall passe away with a noyse, and the elements shall melt with heate, and the earth with the workes that are therein, shalbe burnt vp. |
| 3:11 | Seeing therefore that all these thinges must be dissolued, what maner persons ought ye to be in holy conuersation and godlinesse, |
| 3:12 | Looking for, and hasting vnto the comming of that day of God, by the which the heauens being on fire, shall be dissolued, and the elements shall melt with heate? |
| 3:13 | But wee looke for newe heauens, and a newe earth, according to his promise, wherein dwelleth righteousnesse. |
| 3:14 | Wherefore, beloued, seeing that yee looke for such thinges, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot and blamelesse. |
| 3:15 | And suppose that the long suffering of our Lord is saluation, euen as our beloued brother Paul according to the wisedome giuen vnto him wrote to you, |
| 3:16 | As one, that in all his Epistles speaketh of these thinges: among the which some thinges are hard to be vnderstand, which they that are vnlearned and vnstable, wrest, as they do also other Scriptures vnto their owne destruction. |
| 3:17 | Ye therefore beloued, seeing ye know these thinges before, beware, lest ye be also plucked away with the errour of the wicked, and fall from your owne stedfastnesse. |
| 3:18 | But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Sauiour Iesus Christ: to him be glory both now and for euermore. Amen. |
| 3:1 | This is the seconde pistle that I now wryte vnto you beloved wherwith I stere vp and warne youre pure myndes to call to remembrauce |
| 3:2 | the wordes which were tolde before of the holy prophetes and also the commaundement of vs the apostles of the lorde and saveour. |
| 3:3 | This fyrst vnderstode that ther shall come in the last dayes mockers which will walke after their awne lustes |
| 3:4 | and saye. Where is the promes of his comynge? For sence ye fathers dyed all thinges cotinue in ye same estate wher in they were at ye begynninge. |
| 3:5 | This they knowe not (and that willyngly) how that the hevens a great whyle ago were and the erth that was in the water appered vp out of the water by the worde of god: |
| 3:6 | by the which thinges the worlde yt then was perisshed over flowen wt the water. |
| 3:7 | But the heves verely and erth which are now are kept by the same worde in store and reserved vnto fyre agaynst the daye of iudgement and perdicion of vngodly men. |
| 3:8 | Derely beloved be not ignorant of this one thynge how that one daye is wt the lorde as a thousande yeare and a thousand yeare as one daye. |
| 3:9 | The lorde is not slacke to fulfill his promes as some men cout slacknes: but is pacient to vs warde and wolde have no man lost but wolde receave all men to repentauce. |
| 3:10 | Neverthelesse ye daye of the lorde will come as a thefe in ye nyght in the which daye ye hevens shall perisshe with terrible noyes and the elemetes shall melt with heet and the erth with the workes that are therin shall burne. |
| 3:11 | Yf all these thinges shall perisshe what maner persons ought ye to be in holy conversacion and godlynes: |
| 3:12 | lokynge for and hastynge vnto the commynge of the daye of God in which the hevens shall perisshe with fyre and the elementes shalbe consumed with heate. |
| 3:13 | Neverthelesse we loke for a newe heven and a newe erth accordynge to his promes where in dwelleth rightewesnes. |
| 3:14 | Wherfore derly beloved seynge yt ye loke for soche thynges be diliget that ye maye be founde of him in peace wt out spotte and vndefiled |
| 3:15 | And suppose that ye longe sufferynge of the lorde is saluacion even as oure derely beloved brother Paul accordynge to ye wysdome geve vnto him wrote to you |
| 3:16 | yee almost in very pistle speakynge of soche thynges: amoge which are many thynges harde to be vnderstonde which they that are vnlearned and vnstable pervert as they do other scriptures vnto their awne destruccio. |
| 3:17 | Ye therfore beloved seynge ye knowe it before hande beware lest ye be also plucked a waye with the erroure of the wicked and fall from youre awne stedfastnes: |
| 3:18 | but growe in grace and in the knowledge of oure lorde and saveoure Iesus Christ. To whom he glory bothe now and for ever. Amen. |
