1:6 | And he reseruede vndur derknesse aungels, that kepten not her prinshod, but forsoken her hous, in to the dom of the greet God, in to euerlastynge bondis. |
1:7 | As Sodom, and Gomorre, and the nyy coostid citees, that in lijk maner diden fornycacioun, and yeden awei aftir othir fleisch, and ben maad ensaumple, suffrynge peyne of euerelastinge fier. |
1:8 | In lijk maner also these that defoulen the fleisch, and dispisen lordschip, and blasfemen mageste. |
1:9 | Whanne Myyhel, arkaungel, disputide with the deuel, and stroof of Moises bodi, he was not hardi to brynge in dom of blasfemye, but seide, The Lord comaunde to thee. |
1:10 | But these men blasfemen, what euer thingis thei knowen not. For what euer thingis thei knowen kyndli as doumbe beestis, in these thei ben corupt. |
1:11 | Wo to hem that wenten the weie of Caym, and that ben sched out bi errour of Balaam for mede, and perischiden in the ayenseiyng of Chore. |
1:12 | These ben in her metis, feestynge togidere to filthe, with out drede fedinge hemsilf. These ben cloudis with out watir, that ben borun aboute of the wyndis; heruest trees with out fruyt, twies deed, drawun vp bi the roote; |
1:13 | wawis of the woode see, fomynge out her confusiouns; errynge sterris, to whiche the tempest of derknessis is kept with outen ende. |
1:14 | But Enoch, the seuenthe fro Adam, profeciede of these, and seide, Lo! the Lord cometh with hise hooli thousandis, |
1:15 | to do dom ayens alle men, and to repreue alle vnfeithful men of alle the werkis of the wickidnesse of hem, bi whiche thei diden wickidli, and of alle the harde wordis, that wyckid synneris han spoke ayens God. |
1:16 | These ben grutcheris ful of pleyntis, wandrynge aftir her desiris; and the mouth of hem spekith pride, worschipinge persoones, bi cause of wynnyng. |
1:17 | And ye, moost dere britheren, be myndeful of the wordis, whiche ben bifor seid of apostlis of oure Lord Jhesu Crist; whiche seiden to you, |
1:18 | that in the laste tymes ther schulen come gilours, wandringe aftir her owne desiris, not in pitee. |
1:19 | These ben, whiche departen hemsilf, beestli men, not hauynge spirit. |
1:20 | But ye, moost dere britheren, aboue bilde you silf on youre moost hooli feith, and preye ye in the Hooli Goost, |
1:21 | and kepe you silf in the loue of God, and abide ye the merci of oure Lord Jhesu Crist in to lijf euerlastynge. |
1:22 | And repreue ye these men that ben demed, |
1:23 | but saue ye hem, and take ye hem fro the fier. And do ye merci to othere men, in the drede of God, and hate ye also thilke defoulid coote, which is fleischli. |
1:24 | But to him that is miyti to kepe you with out synne, and to ordeyne bifore the siyt of his glorie you vnwemmed in ful out ioye, in the comynge of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, to God aloone oure sauyour, |
1:25 | bi Jhesu Crist oure Lord, be glorie, and magnefiyng, empire, and power, bifore alle worldis, `and now and in to alle worldis of worldis. Amen. |

1:2 | Mercy vnto you and peace and love be multiplied. |
1:3 | Beloved when I gave all diligence to write vnto you of the commen saluacion: it was nedfull for me to wryte vnto you to exhorte you that ye shuld continually laboure in the fayth which was once geve vnto the sayntes |
1:4 | For ther are certayne craftely crept in of which it was write afore tyme vnto soche iudgemet. They are vngodly and turne the grace of oure God vnto wantannes and denye God the only Lorde and oure Lorde Iesus Christ. |
1:5 | My mynde is therfore to put you in remebraunce for as moche as ye once knowe this how that the Lorde (after that he had delivered the people out of Egypt) destroyed them which afterwarde beleved not. |
1:6 | The angels also which kept not their fyrst estate: but lefte their awne habitacion he hath reserved in everlastinge chaynes vnder darcknes vnto ye iudgemet of the greate daye: |
1:7 | eve as Sodom and Gomor and the cities aboute them (which in lyke maner defiled them selves with fornicacio and folowed straunge flesshe) are set forth for an ensample and suffre the vengeaunce of eternall fyre. |
1:8 | Lykwyse these dremers defyle the flesshe despyse rulars and speake evyll of them that are in auctoritie. |
1:9 | Yet Michael the archangell when he strove agaynst the devyll and disputed about the body of Moses durst not geve raylinge sentece but sayde: the Lorde rebuke ye. |
1:10 | But these speake evyll of those thinges which they knowe not: and what thinges they knowe naturally as beastes which are without reason in tho thinges they corrupte them selves. |
1:11 | Wo be vnto them for they have folowed ye waye of Cayn and are vtterly geven to the erroure of Balam for lukers sake and perysshe in the treason of Core. |
1:12 | These are spottes which of youre kindnes feast to gedder with out feare fedynge them selves. Cloudes they are with outen water caried about of wyndes and trees with out frute at gadringe tyme twyse deed and plucked vp by the rotes. |
1:13 | They are the ragynge waves of ye see fominge out their awne shame. They are wandrynge starres to whom is reserved the myst of darcknes for ever. |
1:14 | Enoch the seventh from Adam prophesied before of suche saying: Beholde ye lorde shall come with thousandes of sayntes |
1:15 | to geve iudgement agaynst all men and to rebuke all that are vngodly amonge them of all their vngodly dedes which they have vngodly comitted and of all their cruell speakynges which vngodly sinners have spoken agaynst him. |
1:16 | These are murmurers complayners walkynge after their awne lustes whose mouthes speake proude thynges. They have men in greate reverence be cause of a vauntage. |
1:17 | But ye beloved remember the wordes which were spoken before of the Apostles of oure lorde Iesus Christ |
1:18 | how that they tolde you that ther shulde be begylers in the last tyme which shuld walke after ther awne vngodly lustes. |
1:19 | These are makers of sectes fleshlie havynge no sprete. |
1:20 | But ye derlye beloved edyfie yovre selves in youre most holy fayth prayinge in the holy goost |
1:21 | and kepe youre selves in the love of God lokinge for ye mercy of oure lorde Iesus Christ vnto eternall lyfe. |
1:22 | And have compassion on some separatynge them: |
1:23 | and other save with feare pullinge them out of the fyre and hate the fylthy vesture of the flesshe. |
1:24 | Vnto him that is able to kepe you that ye faule not and to present you fautlesse before the presence of his glory with ioye |
1:25 | yt is to saye to God oure saveour which only is wyse be glory maiestie dominion and power now and for ever. Amen. |
