1:2 | Mercye vnto you, and peace, and loue be multiplyed. |
1:3 | Beloued, when I gaue all dylygence to wryte vnto you of the commen saluacyon: it was nedefull for me to wryte vnto you, to exhorte you, that ye should contynuallye labour in the faythe whiche was ones geuen vnto the saynctes. |
1:4 | For there are certayne craftely crept in, of which it was wrytten afore tyme vnto suche iudgement. They are vngodlye & turne the grace of oure God vnto wantonnes, and denye God the onelye Lorde, and oure Lord Iesus Christe. |
1:5 | My mynd is therfore to put you in remembraunce, for as muche as ye ones knowe this, how that the Lord (after that he had deliuered the people out of Egypt) destroyed them which afterwarde beleued not. |
1:6 | The aungels also whiche kepte not theyr fyrste estate: but lefte theyr habytacyon, he hath reserued in euerlastyng chaynes vnder darkenes vnto the iudgement of the greate daye: |
1:7 | euen as Sodome and Gomor, and the cytyes about them (which in lyke maner defyled them selues with fornicacyon, and folowed straunge fleshe) are sette forth for an ensample, and suffer the vengeaunce of eternal fyre. |
1:8 | Likewyse these dremers defyle the flesh, despyse rulars and spake euil of them that are in authorytye. |
1:9 | Yet Michael the Archangel when he stroue agaynst the deuyl, and dysputed aboute the bodye of Moyses, durste not geue raylyug sentence, but sayed: the Lorde rebuke the. |
1:10 | But these speake euyl of those thynges they know not, and what thynges they knowe naturally as beastes which are wythout reason, in those thynges they corrupte them selues. |
1:11 | Wo be vnto them, for they haue folowed the waye of Cayn, and are vtterlye geuen to the errour of Balam for lukers sake, and peryshe in the treason of Core. |
1:12 | These are spottes which of youre kyndnes feast together, wythoute feare, fedyng themselues. Cloudes they are wythout water, caryed aboute of wyndes, and trees wythout frute at gatherynge tyme, twyse dead & plucked vp by rotes. |
1:13 | They are the ragynge waues of the sea, fomyng out theyr owne shame. They are wandryng starres to whome is reserued the myste of darcknes for euer. |
1:14 | Enoch the seuenth from Adam, prophesyed fore of suche, saying: Beholde, the Lorde shall come wt thousandes of saynctes, |
1:15 | to geue iudgemente agaynst al men, & to rebuke al that are vngodly among them, of all theyr vngodly dedes, whiche they haue vngodlye commytted and of all theyr cruell speakynges; whiche vngodly synners haue spoken agaynste him. |
1:16 | These are murmurers, complayners, walkyng after theyr owne iustes, whose mouthes speake proud thinges. They haue men in great reuerence because of vauntage. |
1:17 | But ye beloued, remembre the wordes whiche were spoken before of the Apostles of oure Lord Iesu Christe, |
1:18 | howe that they tolde you that there shoulde be begylers in the laste tyme whiche shoulde walke after theyr owne vngodlye lustes. |
1:19 | These are makers of sectes fleshlye, hauynge no spyryte. |
1:20 | But ye dearely beloued, edifye your selues in your moste holy faythe, praying in the holye ghost, |
1:21 | and kepe your selues in the loue of God, lokynge for the mercye of oure Lorde Iesus Christe, vnto eternall lyfe. |
1:22 | And haue compassyon of some, separatynge them: |
1:23 | and other saue wyth feare, pullynge them oute of the fyre, and hate the fylthy vesture of the flesh. |
1:24 | Vnto hym that is able to kepe you, that ye fal not, and to preserue you fautles before the presence of hys glorye wyth ioye, |
1:25 | that is to saye, to God oure sauyoure whiche onelye is wise be glorye maiestye, dominion and power, now and for euer. Amen. |

1:3 | Beloued, when I gaue al diligece to write vnto you of the common saluation, it was needful for me to write vnto you to exhort you, that yee should earnestly contend for the maintenace of ye faith, which was once giuen vnto the Saintes. |
1:4 | For there are certaine men crept in, which were before of olde ordeined to this condemnation: vngodly men they are which turne the grace of our God into wantonnesse, and denie God the onely Lord, and our Lord Iesus Christ. |
1:5 | I wil therfore put you in remebrance, forasmuch as ye once knew this, how that the Lord, after that he had deliuered the people out of Egypt, destroied them afterward which beleeued not. |
1:6 | The Angels also which kept not their first estate, but left their owne habitation, hee hath reserued in euerlasting chaines vnder darkenesse vnto the iudgement of the great day. |
1:7 | As Sodom and Gomorrhe, and the cities about them, which in like maner as they did, committed fornication, and followed strange flesh, are set foorth for an ensample, and suffer the vengeance of eternall fire. |
1:8 | Likewise notwithstanding these sleepers also defile the flesh, and despise gouernment, and speake euill of them that are in authoritie. |
1:9 | Yet Michael the Archangell, when hee stroue against the deuill, and disputed about the body of Moses, durst not blame him with cursed speaking, but sayd, The Lord rebuke thee. |
1:10 | But these speake euill of those thinges, which they know not: and whatsoeuer things they know naturally, as beasts, which are without reason, in those things they corrupt them selues. |
1:11 | Wo be vnto them: for they haue followed the way of Cain, and are cast away by the deceit of Balaams wages, and perish in the gainsaying of Core. |
1:12 | These are rockes in your feasts of charitie when they feast with you, without al feare, feeding themselues: cloudes they are without water, caried about of windes, corrupt trees and without fruit, twise dead, and plucked vp by ye rootes. |
1:13 | They are the raging waues of the sea, foming out their owne shame: they are wandring starres, to whome is reserued the blackenesse of darkenesse for euer. |
1:14 | And Enoch also the seuenth from Adam, prophecied of such, saying, Beholde, the Lord commeth with thousands of his Saints, |
1:15 | To giue iudgement against al men, and to rebuke all the vngodly among them of all their wicked deeds, which they haue vngodly committed, and of all their cruel speakings, which wicked sinners haue spoken against him. |
1:16 | These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their owne lustes: Whose mouthes speake proud things, hauing mens persons in admiration, because of aduantage. |
1:17 | But, yee beloued, remember the wordes which were spoken before of the Apostles of our Lord Iesus Christ, |
1:18 | How that they told you that there should be mockers in ye last time, which should walke after their owne vngodly lustes. |
1:19 | These are they that separate them selues from other, naturall, hauing not the Spirit. |
1:20 | But, yee beloued, edifie your selues in your most holy faith, praying in the holy Ghost, |
1:21 | And keepe your selues in the loue of God, looking for the mercie of our Lord Iesus Christ, vnto eternall life. |
1:22 | And haue compassion of some, in putting difference: |
1:23 | And other saue with feare, pulling them out of the fire, and hate euen that garment which is spotted by the flesh. |
1:24 | Nowe vnto him that is able to keepe you, that ye fall not, and to present you faultlesse before the presence of his glorie with ioy, |
1:25 | That is, to God only wise, our Sauiour, be glorie, and maiestie, and dominion, and power, both nowe and for euer, Amen. |

1:10 | But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. |
1:11 | Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. |
1:12 | These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; |
1:13 | Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. |
1:14 | And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, |
1:15 | To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. |
1:16 | These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. |
1:17 | But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; |
1:18 | How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. |
1:19 | These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. |
1:20 | But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, |
1:21 | Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. |
1:22 | And of some have compassion, making a difference: |
1:23 | And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. |
1:24 | Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, |
1:25 | To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. |
