| 17:1 | And ther came one of the seuen Angels, whyche had the seuen vyalles: and talked wyth me, sayenge vnto me: come, I wyll shewe vnto the, the iudgement of the great whore that sytteth vpon many waters, |
| 17:2 | wyth whome haue commytted fornicacion the kynges of the erthe, and the inhabyters of the erth are droncken wyth the wyne of hir fornicacion. |
| 17:3 | And the sprete caryed me awaye in to the wyldernes. And I sawe a woman syt vpon a rose colored beast, full of names of blasphemye, whyche had seuen heades and ten hornes. |
| 17:4 | And the woman was arayed in purple and rose coloure, and decked wyth golde, precious stone, and pearles, and had a cup of golde in her hande, full of abhominacions and fylthynes of her fornicacion. |
| 17:5 | And in her forheade was a name written, a mystery, gret Babylon the mother of whordom and abominacions of the erth. |
| 17:6 | And I sawe the wyfe droncken wyth the bloude of saynctes, and with the bloude of the wytnesses of Iesu. And when I sawe her: I wondred with great meruayle. |
| 17:7 | And the Angell sayde vnto me: wherfore maruaylest thou? I wyll shewe the the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that beryth her, which hath seuen heades and ten hornes. |
| 17:8 | The beast that thon seest, was, and is not, and shall ascende out of the bottomlesse pyt, and shall go into perdicion, & they that dwel on the erth shall wondre (whose names are not written in the boke of lyfe from the begynnynge of the worlde) when they behold the beast that was and is not. |
| 17:9 | And here is a mynde that hath wysdome. The seuen heades are seuen mountaynes, on which the woman sytteth, |
| 17:10 | they are also seuen kynges. Fyue are fallen, and one is, and another is not yet come. And when he commeth, he must continew a shorte space. |
| 17:11 | And the beast that was, & is not, is euen the eyght and is one of the seuen, and shall go into destruccion. |
| 17:12 | And the ten hornes which thou sawest are ten kynges which haue receaued no kingdom as yet, but shall receaue power as kynges at one houre wyth the beast. |
| 17:13 | These haue one mynde, and shall geue their power and strength vnto the beast. |
| 17:14 | These shall fyght with the lambe, & the lambe shall ouercome them. For he is Lorde of lordes, and kynge of kynges, and they that are on his side, are called, and chosen, and faythfull. |
| 17:15 | And he sayde vnto me: the waters whych thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are people, and folke, & nacions, and tonges. |
| 17:16 | And the ten hornes, which thou sawest vpon the beast, are they that shall hate the whore, & shall make her desolate and naked, & shall eate her flesshe, & burne her wyth fyre. |
| 17:17 | For God hath put in theyr hertes to fulfyll his wyll, & to do wyth one consent, for to geue their kyngdome vnto the beast, vntyll the wordes of God be fulfylled. |
| 17:18 | And the woman which thou sawest, is the great cytye, whiche raygneth ouer the kynges of the erth. |
| 17:1 | And oon of the seuene aungels cam, that hadde seuene viols, and spak with me, and seide, Come thou, Y schal schewe to thee the dampnacioun of the greet hoore, that sittith on many watris, with which kyngis of erthe diden fornicacioun; |
| 17:2 | and thei that dwellen in the erthe ben maad drunkun of the wyn of her letcherie. |
| 17:3 | And he took me in to desert in spirit. And Y say a womman sittynge on a reed beeste, ful of names of blasfemye, hauynge seuene heedis, and ten hornes. |
| 17:4 | And the womman was enuyround with purpur, and reed, and ouergild with gold, and preciouse stoon, and peerls, hauynge a goldun cuppe in hir hoond, ful of abhomynaciouns and vnclennesse of her fornycacioun. |
| 17:5 | And a name writun in the forheed of hir, Mysterie, Babiloyn the greet, modir of fornycaciouns, and of abhomynaciouns of erthe. |
| 17:6 | And Y say a womman drunkun of the blood of seyntis, and of the blood of martris of Jhesu. And whanne Y say hir, Y wondride with greet wondryng. |
| 17:7 | And the aungel seide to me, Whi wondrist thou? I schal seie to thee the sacrament yf the womman, and of the beeste that berith hir, that hath seuene heedis and ten hornes. |
| 17:8 | The beeste which thou seist, was, and is not; and sche schal stie fro depnesse, and sche schal go `in to perisching. And men dwellinge in erthe schulen wondre, whos names ben not writun in the book of lijf fro the makinge of the world, seynge the beeste, that was, and is not. |
| 17:9 | And this is the witt, who that hath wisdom. The seuene heedis ben seuene hillis, on whiche the womman sittith, and kyngis seuene ben. |
| 17:10 | Fyue han feld doun, oon is, and anothir cometh not yit. And whanne he schal come, it bihoueth hym to dwelle a schort tyme. |
| 17:11 | And the beeste that was, and is not, and sche is the eiytthe, and is of the seuene, and schal go in to perischyng. |
| 17:12 | And the ten hornes whiche thou hast seyn, ben ten kyngis, that yit han not take kyngdom; but thei schulen take power as kingis, oon our after the beeste. |
| 17:13 | These han a counsel, and schulen bitake her vertu and power to the beeste. |
| 17:14 | These schulen fiyte with the lomb, and the lomb schal ouercome hem; for he is Lord of lordis, and kyng of kyngis; and thei that ben with hym, ben clepid, chosun, and feithful. |
| 17:15 | And he seide to me, The watris whiche thou hast seyn, where the hoore sittith, ben puplis, and folkis, and langagis. |
| 17:16 | And the ten hornes that thou hast seyn in the beeste, these schulen make hir desolat and nakid, and schulen ete the fleischis of hir, and schulen brenne togidere hir with fier. |
| 17:17 | For God yaf in to the hertis of hem, that thei do that that is pleasaunt to hym, that thei yyue her kyngdom to the beeste, til the wordis of God ben endid. |
| 17:18 | And the womman whom thou hast seyn, is the greet citee, that hath kingdom on kyngis of the erthe. |

| 17:11 | And the beest that was, and is not, is eue the eyght, and is of the seuen, and shal go in to destruccion. |
| 17:12 | And ye ten hornes which thou sawest, are ten kynges, which haue not yet receaued the kyngdome, but shal receaue power as kynges at one houre with ye beest. |
| 17:13 | These haue one mynde, and shal geue their power and stregth vnto ye beeste. |
| 17:14 | These shal fyght with the lambe, and the labe shal ouercome them: For he is LORDE of all lordes, and kinge of all kinges: and they that are on his syde, are called, and chosen and faithfull. |
| 17:15 | And he saide vnto me: The waters which thou sawest, where ye whore sytteth, are people, and folke, and nacions, and tonges. |
| 17:16 | And the ten hornes, which thou sawest vpon the beest, are they that shal hate the whore, and shal make her desolate, and naked, and shall eate hir flesshe, and burne her with fyre. |
| 17:17 | For God hath put in their hertes, to fulfill his wyll, and to do with one consent, for to geue hir kyngdome vnto the beest, vntill the wordes of God be fulfylled. |
| 17:18 | And the woma which thou sawest, is that greate cite, which raigneth ouer the kynges of the earth. |
