22:1	Forsothe Dauid spak to the Lord the wordis of this song, in the dai in which the Lord delyuerede hym fro the hond of alle hise enemyes, and fro the hond of Saul.
22:2	And Dauid seide, The Lord is my stoon, and my strengthe, and my sauyour;
22:3	my God, my stronge, I schal hope in to hym; my scheeld, and the horn of myn helthe, `my reisere, and my refuyt; my sauyour, thou schalt delyuere me fro wickidnesse.
22:4	Y schal inwardly clepe the Lord worthi to be preisid; and Y schal be saaf fro myn enemyes.
22:5	For the sorewis of deeth cumpasside me; the strondis of Belial maden me aferd.
22:6	The coordis of helle cumpassiden me; the snaris of deeth camen bifor me.
22:7	In tribulacioun Y schal clepe, `that is, Y clepide thee, Lord, and Y schal crie to my God; and he herd fro his holi temple my vois, and my crye schal come to hise eeris.
22:8	The erthe was mouyd, and tremblide; the foundementis of hillis weren smytun and schakun togidere, for the Lord was wrooth to hem.
22:9	Smoke stiede fro hise nosethirlis, and fier of his mouth schal deuoure; colis weren kyndlid of it.
22:10	And he bowide heuenes, and cam doun; and myist vndur hise feet.
22:11	And he stiede on cherubyn, and fliy; and he slood on the pennys of wynd.
22:12	He puttide derknessis hidyng place in his cumpas, and riddlide watris fro the cloudis of heuenes;
22:13	for briytnesse in his siyt colis of fier weren kyndelid.
22:14	The Lord schal thundur fro heuene; and hiy God schal yyue his vois.
22:15	He sente hise arowis, and scateride hem; he sente leitis, and wastide hem.
22:16	And the schedyngis out of the see apperiden, and the foundementis of the world weren schewid; fro the blamyng of the Lord, fro the brething of the spirit of his strong veniaunce.
22:17	He sente fro heuene, and took me; and drow me out of manye watris.
22:18	He delyuerede me fro my myytiest enemy, and fro hem that hatiden me; for thei weren strongere than Y.
22:19	Thei camen bifore me in the dai of my turmentyng; and the Lord was maad my stidfastnesse.
22:20	And he ledde me out in to largenesse, and he delyuerede me; for Y pleside hym.
22:21	The Lord schal yelde to me vp my riytfulnesse; and he schal yelde to me vp, `ethir aftir, the clennesse of myn hondis.
22:22	For Y kepte the weies of the Lord; and Y dide not wickidli fro my God.
22:23	For alle hise domes weren in my siyt; and Y dide not awei fro me hise heestis.
22:24	And Y schal be perfit with hym; and Y schal kepe me fro my wickidnesse.
22:25	And the Lord schal restore to me vpe my riytfulnesse; and vp the clennesse of myn hondis in the siyt of hise iyen.
22:26	With the hooli thou schalt be hooli, and with the stronge, `that is, to suffre aduersitees pacientli, thou schalt be perfit;
22:27	and with a chosun man `to blis thou schalt be chosun, and with a weiward man thou schalt be maad weiward, `that is, in yeldynge iustli peyne to hym vpe his weiwardnesse.
22:28	And thou schalt make saaf a pore puple; and with thin iyen thou schalt make lowe hem that ben hiye.
22:29	For thou, Lord, art my lanterne, and thou, Lord, schalt liytne my derknessis.
22:30	For Y gird, `that is, maad redi to batel, schal renne in thee, `that is, in thi vertu; and in my God Y schal `scippe ouer the wal.
22:31	`God his weie is `with out wem; the speche of the Lord is examynyd bi fier, `that is, is pure and clene as metal preuyd in the furneys; he is a scheeld of alle men hopynge in hym.
22:32	For who is God, outakun the Lord; and who is strong, outakun oure God?
22:33	God, that hath gird me with strengthe, and hath maad pleyn my perfit weie;
22:34	and he made euene my feet with hertis, and settide me on myn hiye thingis;
22:35	and he tauyte myn hondis to batel, and made myn armes as a brasun bouwe.
22:36	Thou hast youe to me the sheeld of thin heelthe; and my myldenesse multipliede me.
22:37	Thou schalt alarge my steppis vndur me; and myn heelis schulen not faile.
22:38	Y schal pursue myn enemyes, and Y schal al to-breke hem; and Y schal not turne ayen, til Y waste hem.
22:39	Y schal waste hem, and Y schal breke, that thei rise not; thei schulen falle vndur my feet.
22:40	Thou hast gird me with strengthe to batel; thou hast bowid vnder me hem that ayenstoden me.
22:41	Thou hast youe myn enemyes abac to me, men hatynge me; and Y schal distrie hem.
22:42	Thei schulen crye, `that is, to ydols ether to mennus help, and noon schal be that schal saue; `thei schulen crie to the Lord, and he schal not here hem.
22:43	Y schal do awei hem as the dust of erthe; Y schal `powne hem, and Y schal do awei as the clei of stretis.
22:44	Thou schalt saue me fro ayenseiyngis of my puple; thou schalt kepe me in to the heed of folkis; the puple, whom Y knowe not, schal serue me.
22:45	Alien sones schulen ayenstonde me; bi heryng of eere thei schulen obeie to me.
22:46	Alien sones fletiden awei; and thei schulen be drawun togidere in her angwischis.
22:47	The Lord lyueth, and my God is blessid; and the stronge God of myn helthe schal be enhaunsid.
22:48	God, that yyuest veniauncis to me; and hast cast doun puplis vndur me.
22:49	Which ledist me out fro myn enemyes, and reisist me fro men ayenstondinge me; thou schalt deliuere me fro the wickid man.
22:50	Therfor, Lord, Y schal knowleche to thee in hethene men; and Y schal synge to thi name.
22:51	And he magnyfieth the helthis of his kyng; and doith mercyes to his crist Dauid, and to his seed til in to withouten ende.


22:1	And Dauid spake the woordes of this song vnto the Lord, what time the Lord had deliuered him out of the handes of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul.
22:2	And he sayd, The Lord is my rocke and my fortresse, and he that deliuereth mee.
22:3	God is my strength, in him will I trust: my shielde, and the horne of my saluation, my hie tower and my refuge: my Sauiour, thou hast saued me from violence.
22:4	I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praysed: so shall I be safe from mine enemies.
22:5	For the pangs of death haue compassed me: the floods of vngodlinesse haue made mee afrayd.
22:6	The sorowes of the graue compassed mee about: the snares of death ouertooke mee.
22:7	But in my tribulation did I call vpon the Lord, and crie to my God, and he did heare my voyce out of his temple, and my crie did enter into his eares.
22:8	Then the earth trembled and quaked: the foundations of the heauens mooued and shooke, because he was angrie.
22:9	Smoke went out at his nostrels, and consuming fire out of his mouth: coles were kindled thereat.
22:10	He bowed the heauens also, and came downe, and darkenes was vnder his feete.
22:11	And he rode vpon Cherub and did flie, and hee was seene vpon the winges of the winde.
22:12	And hee made darkenesse a Tabernacle round about him, euen the gatherings of waters, and the cloudes of the ayre.
22:13	At the brightnesse of his presence the coles of fire were kindled.
22:14	The Lord thundred from heauen, and the most hie gaue his voyce.
22:15	He shot arrowes also, and scattered them: to wit, lightning, and destroyed them.
22:16	The chanels also of the sea appeared, euen the foundations of the worlde were discouered by the rebuking of the Lord, and at the blast of the breath of his nostrels.
22:17	He sent from aboue, and tooke me: hee drewe me out of many waters.
22:18	He deliuered me from my strong enemie, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.
22:19	They preuented me in the day of my calamitie, but the Lord was my stay,
22:20	And brought me foorth into a large place: he deliuered me, because he fauoured me.
22:21	The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousnesse: according to the purenesse of mine handes he recompensed me.
22:22	For I kept the wayes of the Lord, and did not wickedly against my God.
22:23	For all his lawes were before me, and his statutes: I did not depart therefrom.
22:24	I was vpright also towarde him, and haue kept me from my wickednesse.
22:25	Therefore the Lord did reward me according to my righteousnesse, according to my purenesse before his eyes.
22:26	With the godly thou wilt shewe thy selfe godly: with the vpright man thou wilt shew thy selfe vpright.
22:27	With the pure thou wilt shewe thy selfe pure, and with the frowarde thou wilt shew thy selfe frowarde.
22:28	Thus thou wilt saue the poore people: but thine eyes are vpon the hautie to humble them.
22:29	Surely thou art my light, O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkenes.
22:30	For by thee haue I broken through an hoste, and by my God haue I leaped ouer a wall.
22:31	The way of God is vncorrupt: the word of the Lord is tryed in the fire: he is a shield to all that trust in him.
22:32	For who is God besides the Lord? and who is mightie, saue our God?
22:33	God is my strength in battel, and maketh my way vpright.
22:34	He maketh my feete like hindes feete, and hath set me vpon mine hie places.
22:35	He teacheth mine handes to fight, so that a bowe of brasse is broken with mine armes.
22:36	Thou hast also giuen me the shield of thy saluation, and thy louing kindnesse hath caused me to increase.
22:37	Thou hast inlarged my steppes vnder me, and mine heeles haue not slid.
22:38	I haue pursued mine enemies and destroyed them, and haue not turned againe vntill I had consumed them.
22:39	Yea, I haue consumed them and thrust them through, and they shall not arise, but shall fall vnder my feete.
22:40	For thou hast girded me with power to battell, and them that arose against me, hast thou subdued vnder me.
22:41	And thou hast giuen me the neckes of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.
22:42	They looked about, but there was none to saue them, euen vnto the Lord, but he answered them not.
22:43	Then did I beate them as small as the dust of the earth: I did treade them flat as the clay of the streete, and did spread them abroad.
22:44	Thou hast also deliuered me from the contentions of my people: thou hast preserued me to be the head ouer nations: the people which I knewe not, doe serue me.
22:45	Strangers shalbe in subiection to me: assoone as they heare, they shall obey me.
22:46	Strangers shall shrinke away, and feare in their priuie chambers.
22:47	Let the Lord liue, and blessed be my strength: and God, euen the force of my saluation be exalted.
22:48	It is God that giueth me power to reuenge me, and subdue the people vnder me,
22:49	And rescueth me from mine enemies: (thou also hast lift me vp from them that rose against me, thou hast deliuered me from the cruell man.
22:50	Therefore I will praise thee, O Lord amog the nations, and will sing vnto thy Name)
22:51	He is the tower of saluation for his King, and sheweth mercie to his anointed, euen to Dauid, and to his seede for euer.
