23:1These also be the last wordes of Dauid: Dauid the sonne of Isai said: and ye man which was ordayned the annoynted of the God of Iacob and the sweete Psalmist of Israel, sayde
23:2The spirite of the Lorde spake by me, and his word was in my tongue
23:3The God of Israel spake to me, euen the most mightie of Israel sayde: A ruler ouer men being iust, ruling in ye feare of God
23:4And as the morning lyght when the sunne is vp, a morning in which are no cloudes, so shal my house be, but not as the grasse of the earth is by bryghtnesse and rayne
23:5For so shal not my house be with God: For he hath made with me an euerlasting couenaunt, perfect and sure in all poyntes: and this is truly all my health, and all my desyre, that it growe, but not as grasse
23:6But the vngodly man, shall be as a thorne cleane pluckt vp, which can not be taken with handes
23:7But the man that shall touche them, must be defenced with iron, or with the shaft of a speare, and they shalbe burnt with fire in the same place
23:8These be the names of the mightie men whom Dauid had: One that sate in the seate of wisedome, being chiefest among the princes, was Adino of Ezni, he slue eyght hundred at one tyme
23:9After him was Eliazar the sonne of Dodo the sonne of Ahohi, one of the three worthies with Dauid, which defyed the Philistines that were there gathered together to battaile, when the men of Israel were gone vp
23:10He arose and layed on the Philistines, vntill his hand was weery, and claue vnto the sword: And the Lorde gaue great victory the same day, and the people returned after him, only to spoyle
23:11After him was Samma the sonne of Age the Hararite: & the Philistines gathered together besyde a towne, where was a parcell of land full of lentils, and the people fled from the Philistines
23:12But he stoode in ye middest of the groud, and defended it, & slue the Philistines: and the Lorde gaue great victorie
23:13These three (which were of the thirtie chiefe captaines) went downe to Dauid in the haruest tyme vnto the caue Adullam: and the hoast of the Philistines pytched in the valley of giauntes
23:14And Dauid was then in an houlde, and the souldiers of ye Philistines were in Bethlehem
23:15And Dauid longed, & saide: Oh that I had of the water that is in the wel by the gate of Bethlehem for to drynke
23:16And the three mightie brake through the hoast of the Philistines, & drue water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and toke and brought it to Dauid: Neuerthelesse he would not drinke thereof, but powred it vnto the Lorde
23:17And saide, The Lorde forbyd that I should do so: Is not this the blood of the men that went in ieoperdie of theyr lyues? & therefore he would not drinke it. And these thinges did these three mightie men
23:18Abisai the brother of Ioab the sonne of Zaruia, was chiefe among the three, & he lyft vp his speare against three hundred, and slue them, & had the name among the three
23:19For he was most excellent of the three, and was their captayne: Howbeit he attayned not vnto the first three
23:20And Banaiah the sonne of Iehoida the sonne of a mightie man, valiaunt in actes, of Rabzeel, slue two strog men of Moab: He went downe also, and slue a lion in the middest of a pit in time of snowe
23:21And he slue an Egyptian a goodly bigge man, and the Egyptian had a speare in his hand: But he went downe to him with a staffe, and plucked the speare out of the Egyptians hand, and slue him with his owne speare
23:22These thinges did Banaiah ye sonne of Iehoida, and had the name among the three worthies
23:23He was honorable among thirtie, but he attayned not to the first three: And Dauid made him of his counsel
23:24Asahel the brother of Ioab, was one of the thirtie: Elhanan the sonne of Dodo, of Bethlehem
23:25Samma the Harodite, Elica the Harodite
23:26Helez the Paltite, Ira the sonne of Acces the Thecoite
23:27Abiezer of Anathoth, Mebunnai ye Husathite
23:28Zelmon an Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite
23:29Heleb the sonne of Baanah an Netophatite, Ithai the sonne of Ribai out of Gibea of the children of Beniamin
23:30Banaiah the Pirathonite, Heddai of the ryuer of Gaas
23:31Abialbon the Arbathite, Asmaueth the Barhumite
23:32Eliahba a Saalbonite: of the sonnes of Iasen, Ionathan
23:33Samma the Hararite, Ahiam ye sonne of Sarar an Hararite
23:34Eliphelet ye sonne of Aasbai the sonne of Maachathi, Eliam the sonne of Ahithophel the Gilonite
23:35Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite
23:36Igal the sonne of Nathan of Zoba, Bani the Gadite
23:37Zelec the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, which was the harnesse bearer of Ioab the sonne of Zaruia
23:38Ira the Iethrite, Gareb ye Iethrite

23:1These also be the last wordes of Dauid, Dauid the sonne of Ishai saith, euen the man who was set vp on hie, the Anointed of the God of Iacob, and the sweete singer of Israel saith,
23:2The Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his worde was in my tongue.
23:3The God of Israel spake to me, ye strength of Israel saide, Thou shalt beare rule ouer men, being iust, and ruling in the feare of God.
23:4Euen as the morning light when the sunne riseth, the morning, I say, without cloudes, so shall mine house be, and not as the grasse of the earth is by the bright raine.
23:5For so shall not mine house be with God: for he hath made with me an euerlasting couenant, perfite in all pointes, and sure: therefore all mine health and whole desire is, that he will not make it growe so.
23:6But the wicked shalbe euery one as thornes thrust away, because they can not be taken with handes.
23:7But the man that shall touch them, must be defensed with yron, or with the shaft of a speare: and they shall be burnt with fire in the same place.
23:8These be the names of the mightie men whome Dauid had. He that sate in the seate of wisedome, being chiefe of the princes, was Adino of Ezni, he slewe eight hundreth at one time.
23:9And after him was Eleazar the sonne of Dodo, the sonne of Ahohi, one of the three worthies with Dauid, when they defied the Philistims gathered there to battel, when the men of Israel were gone vp.
23:10He arose and smote the Philistims vntill his hande was wearie, and his hande claue vnto the sworde: and the Lord gaue great victorie the same day, and the people returned after him onely to spoyle.
23:11After him was Shammah the sonne of Age the Hararite: for the Philistims assembled at a towne, where was a piece of a fielde full of lentils, and the people fled from the Philistims.
23:12But he stoode in the middes of the fielde, and defended it, and slewe the Philistims: so the Lord gaue great victorie.
23:13Afterward three of the thirtie captaines went downe, and came to Dauid in the haruest time vnto the caue of Adullam, and the hoste of the Philistims pitched in the valley of Rephaim.
23:14And Dauid was then in an holde, and the garison of ye Philistims was then in Beth-lehem.
23:15And Dauid longed, and said, Oh, that one would giue me to drinke of the water of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate.
23:16The the three mightie brake into the host of the Philistims, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem that was by the gate, and tooke and brought it to Dauid, who woulde not drinke thereof, but powred it for an offring vnto ye Lord,
23:17And said, O Lord, be it farre from me, that I should doe this. Is not this the blood of the men that went in ieopardie of their liues? therefore he woulde not drinke it. These things did these three mightie men.
23:18And Abishai the brother of Ioab, the sonne of Zeruiah, was chiefe among the three, and he lifted vp his speare against three hundreth, and slewe them, and he had the name among the three.
23:19For he was most excellent of the three, and was their captaine, but he attained not vnto the first three.
23:20And Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada the sonne of a valiant man, which had done many actes, and was of Kabzeel, slewe two strong men of Moab: he went downe also, and slewe a lyon in the middes of a pit in the time of snowe.
23:21And he slewe an Egyptian a man of great stature, and the Egyptian had a speare in his hande: but he went downe to him with a staffe, and plucked the speare out of the Egyptians hand, and slewe him with his owne speare.

23:23He was honourable among thirtie, but he atteined not to the first three: and Dauid made him of his counsell.

23:1These be the last sayinges of Dauid. Dauid the sonne of Isay sayde. And the man (which was made, the anoynted of the God of Iacob, and the noble Psalmist of Israel) sayde:
23:2the sprete of the Lorde spake by me, & his worde was in my tonge.
23:3The God of Israel spake of me, euen the most myghtie of Israel, sayde: he that beareth rule ouer men, ought to rule iustlye in the feare of God.
23:4And as the mornynge lyght when the sonne is vp, a mornynge in whych are no cloudes to lett the bryghtnesse, and as the grasse of the erth is by the vertue of the rayne.
23:5Shall not my house be so wt God? For he hath made with me an euerlastinge couenaunt, perfecte and sure in all poyntes & this is truly all my health & all my desire that it growe but not as grasse.
23:6But the vngodly man of Belial shall be as a thorne cleane pluckt vp, which can not be taken wt handes:
23:7But the man that shall touche them, must haue yron, or a longe helue. Or els must they be burnt with fyre in the same place.
23:8These be the names of the myghtye men whom Dauid had: one that satt in the seat of wisdome, beinge chefest amonge thre, pleasaunt was he and stronge: he slue eyght hundred at one tyme.
23:9After him was Eleazar the sonne of Dodi the sonne of Ahohi, one of the thre worthies wt Dauid, which defyed the Phylistines that were there geathered together to battell: whan the men of Israel were gone vp.
23:10He arose & layed on the Philistines, vntyll hys hande was werye, and claue vnto the swerde. And the Lorde gaue great victorye the same daye. And the people returned, and went after him to runne to the spoyle.
23:11After him was Samma the sonne of Age the Hararite: and the Philistines geathered together besyde a towne. (Where was a parcell of lande full of ryce) and the people fled from the Philistines.
23:12But he stode in the myddes of the grounde, and defended it, and slue the Philistines. And the the Lorde gaue great victorye.
23:13These thre (which were of the thirtye chefe captaynes) went downe to Dauid in the haruest tyme vnto the caue Adullam, & the hoost of the Philistines abode in the valeye of Geauntes.
23:14And Dauid was then in an holde. And the Soudioures of the Philistines were in Bethlehem.
23:15And Dauid longed and sayde. Oh, that I had of the water that is in the well by the gate of Bethlehem, for to drincke.
23:16And the thre myghtie brake thorowe the Host of the Philistines, & fett water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and toke and brought it to Dauid: Neuerthelesse he wolde not dryncke therof, but offered it vnto the Lorde,
23:17and sayde: the Lorde forbyd that I shulde do so. Is not this the bloude of the men that wente in ieopardye of their lyues? and therfore he wolde not dryncke it. And these thinges dyd these thre myghtie men.
23:18Abisai the brother of Ioab, the sonne of Saruiah, was chefe amonge the thre, and he lyfte vp hys speare agaynst thre hundred, & slue them, and had the name amonge the thre.
23:19For he was nobler man then the thre and was their captayne. Howbeit he attayned not vnto thre.
23:20And Banaiahu the sonne of Iehoiada (the sonne of a myghtie man) valyant in actes, of kabzeel, slue two stronge lyons, euen lyons of Moab. He went downe also, & slue a lyon in a pyt in tyme of snowe.
23:21And he slue an Egypcyan, a goodly bygge man, which had a speare in his hande. But he went downe to him with a staffe, and plucked the speare out of the Egypcians hande, and slue him wt hys awne speare.
23:22These thynges did Banaiahu the sonne of Iehoiada, & had the name amonge the thre worthies.
23:23He was honorable amonge thirtye, but he attayned not to the (first) thre. And Dauid made him of hys councell.
23:24Asahel the brother of Ioab also was one of the thirtye. Then Elhanan the sonne of Dodo of Bethlehem:
