16:1	Then the word of the LORD came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,
16:2	Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;
16:3	Behold, I will take away the posterity of Baasha, and the posterity of his house; and will make thy house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
16:4	Him that dieth of Baasha in the city shall the dogs eat; and him that dieth of his in the fields shall the fowls of the air eat.
16:5	Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16:6	So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah: and Elah his son reigned in his stead.
16:7	And also by the hand of the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani came the word of the LORD against Baasha, and against his house, even for all the evil that he did in the sight of the LORD, in provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam; and because he killed him.
16:8	In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel in Tirzah, two years.
16:9	And his servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza steward of his house in Tirzah.
16:10	And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his stead.
16:11	And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha: he left him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.
16:12	Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake against Baasha by Jehu the prophet,
16:13	For all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, by which they sinned, and by which they made Israel to sin, in provoking the LORD God of Israel to anger with their vanities.
16:14	Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16:15	In the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah did Zimri reign seven days in Tirzah. And the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.
16:16	And the people that were encamped heard say, Zimri hath conspired, and hath also slain the king: wherefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the host, king over Israel that day in the camp.
16:17	And Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.
16:18	And it came to pass, when Zimri saw that the city was taken, that he went into the palace of the king's house, and burnt the king's house over him with fire, and died,
16:19	For his sins which he sinned in doing evil in the sight of the LORD, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did, to make Israel to sin.
16:20	Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he wrought, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16:21	Then were the people of Israel divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king; and half followed Omri.
16:22	But the people that followed Omri prevailed against the people that followed Tibni the son of Ginath: so Tibni died, and Omri reigned.
16:23	In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah began Omri to reign over Israel, twelve years: six years reigned he in Tirzah.
16:24	And he bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver, and built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, after the name of Shemer, owner of the hill, Samaria.
16:25	But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of the LORD, and did worse than all that were before him.
16:26	For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin, to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger with their vanities.
16:27	Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he shewed, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16:28	So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria: and Ahab his son reigned in his stead.
16:29	And in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah began Ahab the son of Omri to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years.
16:30	And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him.
16:31	And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.
16:32	And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.
16:33	And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.
16:34	In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.


16:1	ויהי דבר יהוה אל יהוא בן חנני על בעשׁא לאמר׃
16:2	יען אשׁר הרימתיך מן העפר ואתנך נגיד על עמי ישׂראל ותלך בדרך ירבעם ותחטא את עמי ישׂראל להכעיסני בחטאתם׃
16:3	הנני מבעיר אחרי בעשׁא ואחרי ביתו ונתתי את ביתך כבית ירבעם בן נבט׃
16:4	המת לבעשׁא בעיר יאכלו הכלבים והמת לו בשׂדה יאכלו עוף השׁמים׃
16:5	ויתר דברי בעשׁא ואשׁר עשׂה וגבורתו הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי ישׂראל׃
16:6	וישׁכב בעשׁא עם אבתיו ויקבר בתרצה וימלך אלה בנו תחתיו׃
16:7	וגם ביד יהוא בן חנני הנביא דבר יהוה היה אל בעשׁא ואל ביתו ועל כל הרעה אשׁר עשׂה בעיני יהוה להכעיסו במעשׂה ידיו להיות כבית ירבעם ועל אשׁר הכה אתו׃
16:8	בשׁנת עשׂרים ושׁשׁ שׁנה לאסא מלך יהודה מלך אלה בן בעשׁא על ישׂראל בתרצה שׁנתים׃
16:9	ויקשׁר עליו עבדו זמרי שׂר מחצית הרכב והוא בתרצה שׁתה שׁכור בית ארצא אשׁר על הבית בתרצה׃
16:10	ויבא זמרי ויכהו וימיתהו בשׁנת עשׂרים ושׁבע לאסא מלך יהודה וימלך תחתיו׃
16:11	ויהי במלכו כשׁבתו על כסאו הכה את כל בית בעשׁא לא השׁאיר לו משׁתין בקיר וגאליו ורעהו׃
16:12	וישׁמד זמרי את כל בית בעשׁא כדבר יהוה אשׁר דבר אל בעשׁא ביד יהוא הנביא׃
16:13	אל כל חטאות בעשׁא וחטאות אלה בנו אשׁר חטאו ואשׁר החטיאו את ישׂראל להכעיס את יהוה אלהי ישׂראל בהבליהם׃
16:14	ויתר דברי אלה וכל אשׁר עשׂה הלוא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי ישׂראל׃
16:15	בשׁנת עשׂרים ושׁבע שׁנה לאסא מלך יהודה מלך זמרי שׁבעת ימים בתרצה והעם חנים על גבתון אשׁר לפלשׁתים׃
16:16	וישׁמע העם החנים לאמר קשׁר זמרי וגם הכה את המלך וימלכו כל ישׂראל את עמרי שׂר צבא על ישׂראל ביום ההוא במחנה׃
16:17	ויעלה עמרי וכל ישׂראל עמו מגבתון ויצרו על תרצה׃
16:18	ויהי כראות זמרי כי נלכדה העיר ויבא אל ארמון בית המלך וישׂרף עליו את בית מלך באשׁ וימת׃
16:19	על חטאתו אשׁר חטא לעשׂות הרע בעיני יהוה ללכת בדרך ירבעם ובחטאתו אשׁר עשׂה להחטיא את ישׂראל׃
16:20	ויתר דברי זמרי וקשׁרו אשׁר קשׁר הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי ישׂראל׃
16:21	אז יחלק העם ישׂראל לחצי חצי העם היה אחרי תבני בן גינת להמליכו והחצי אחרי עמרי׃
16:22	ויחזק העם אשׁר אחרי עמרי את העם אשׁר אחרי תבני בן גינת וימת תבני וימלך עמרי׃
16:23	בשׁנת שׁלשׁים ואחת שׁנה לאסא מלך יהודה מלך עמרי על ישׂראל שׁתים עשׂרה שׁנה בתרצה מלך שׁשׁ שׁנים׃
16:24	ויקן את ההר שׁמרון מאת שׁמר בככרים כסף ויבן את ההר ויקרא את שׁם העיר אשׁר בנה על שׁם שׁמר אדני ההר שׁמרון׃
16:25	ויעשׂה עמרי הרע בעיני יהוה וירע מכל אשׁר לפניו׃
16:26	וילך בכל דרך ירבעם בן נבט ובחטאתיו אשׁר החטיא את ישׂראל להכעיס את יהוה אלהי ישׂראל בהבליהם׃
16:27	ויתר דברי עמרי אשׁר עשׂה וגבורתו אשׁר עשׂה הלא הם כתובים על ספר דברי הימים למלכי ישׂראל׃
16:28	וישׁכב עמרי עם אבתיו ויקבר בשׁמרון וימלך אחאב בנו תחתיו׃
16:29	ואחאב בן עמרי מלך על ישׂראל בשׁנת שׁלשׁים ושׁמנה שׁנה לאסא מלך יהודה וימלך אחאב בן עמרי על ישׂראל בשׁמרון עשׂרים ושׁתים שׁנה׃
16:30	ויעשׂ אחאב בן עמרי הרע בעיני יהוה מכל אשׁר לפניו׃
16:31	ויהי הנקל לכתו בחטאות ירבעם בן נבט ויקח אשׁה את איזבל בת אתבעל מלך צידנים וילך ויעבד את הבעל וישׁתחו׃
16:32	ויקם מזבח לבעל בית הבעל אשׁר בנה בשׁמרון׃
16:33	ויעשׂ אחאב את האשׁרה ויוסף אחאב לעשׂות להכעיס את יהוה אלהי ישׂראל מכל מלכי ישׂראל אשׁר היו לפניו׃
16:34	בימיו בנה חיאל בית האלי את יריחה באבירם בכרו יסדה ובשׂגיב צעירו הציב דלתיה כדבר יהוה אשׁר דבר ביד יהושׁע בן נון׃


16:1	And a word of Jehovah is unto Jehu son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying,
16:2	`Because that I have raised thee up out of the dust, and appoint thee leader over My people Israel, and thou walkest in the way of Jeroboam, and causest My people Israel to sin -- to provoke Me to anger with their sins;
16:3	lo, I am putting away the posterity of Baasha, even the posterity of his house, and have given up thy house as the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat;
16:4	him who dieth of Baasha in a city do the dogs eat, and him who dieth of his in a field do fowl of the heavens eat.'
16:5	And the rest of the matters of Baasha, and that which he did, and his might, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16:6	And Baasha lieth with his fathers, and is buried in Tirzah, and Elah his son reigneth in his stead.
16:7	And also by the hand of Jehu son of Hanani the prophet a word of Jehovah hath been concerning Baasha, and concerning his house, and concerning all the evil that he did in the eyes of Jehovah to provoke Him to anger with the work of his hands, to be like the house of Jeroboam, and concerning that for which he smote him.
16:8	In the twenty and sixth year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Elah son of Baasha over Israel in Tirzah, two years;
16:9	and conspire against him doth his servant Zimri (head of the half of the chariots) and he `is' in Tirzah drinking -- a drunkard in the house of Arza, who `is' over the house in Tirzah.
16:10	And Zimri cometh in and smiteth him, and putteth him to death, in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigneth in his stead;
16:11	and it cometh to pass in his reigning, at his sitting on his throne, he hath smitten the whole house of Baasha; he hath not left to him any sitting on the wall, and of his redeemers, and of his friends.
16:12	And Zimri destroyeth the whole house of Baasha, according to the word of Jehovah, that He spake concerning Baasha, by the hand of Jehu the prophet:
16:13	concerning all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, that they sinned, and that they caused Israel to sin to provoke Jehovah, God of Israel, with their vanities.
16:14	And the rest of the matters of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16:15	In the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah, reigned hath Zimri seven days in Tirzah; and the people are encamping against Gibbethon, which `is' to the Philistines;
16:16	and the people who are encamping hear, saying, `Zimri hath conspired, and also hath smitten the king;' and all Israel cause Omri head of the host to reign over Israel on that day in the camp.
16:17	And Omri goeth up, and all Israel with him, from Gibbethon, and they lay siege to Tirzah.
16:18	And it cometh to pass, at Zimri's seeing that the city hath been captured, that he cometh in unto a high place of the house of the king, and burneth over him the house of the king with fire, and dieth,
16:19	for his sins that he sinned, to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, to walk in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin that he did, to cause Israel to sin;
16:20	and the rest of the matters of Zimri, and his conspiracy that he made, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16:21	Then are the sons of Israel parted into halves; half of the people hath been after Tibni son of Ginath to cause him to reign, and the half after Omri;
16:22	and stronger are the people that are after Omri than the people that are after Tibni son of Ginath, and Tibni dieth, and Omri reigneth.
16:23	In the thirty and first year of Asa king of Judah reigned hath Omri over Israel twelve years; in Tirzah he hath reigned six years,
16:24	and he buyeth the mount Samaria from Shemer, with two talents of silver, and buildeth `on' the mount, and calleth the name of the city that he hath built by the name of Shemer, lord of the hill -- Samaria.
16:25	And Omri doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and doth evil above all who `are' before him,
16:26	and walketh in all the way of Jeroboam son of Nebat, and in his sin that he caused Israel to sin, to provoke Jehovah, God of Israel, with their vanities.
16:27	And the rest of the matters of Omri that he did, and his might that he got, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16:28	And Omri lieth with his fathers, and is buried in Samaria, and Ahab his son reigneth in his stead.
16:29	And Ahab son of Omri hath reigned over Israel in the thirty and eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and Ahab son of Omri reigneth over Israel in Samaria twenty and two years,
16:30	and Ahab son of Omri doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah above all who `are' before him.
16:31	And it cometh to pass -- hath it been light his walking in the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat? -- then he taketh a wife, Jezebel daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Zidonians, and goeth and serveth Baal, and boweth himself to it,
16:32	and raiseth up an altar for Baal, in the house of the Baal, that he built in Samaria;
16:33	and Ahab maketh the shrine, and Ahab addeth to do so as to provoke Jehovah, God of Israel, above all the kings of Israel who have been before him.
