| 5:1 | Now Naaman captaine of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the Lord had giuen deliuerance vnto Syria: He was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper. |
| 5:2 | And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captiue out of the land of Israel a litle maid, & she waited on Naamans wife. |
| 5:3 | And shee saide vnto her mistresse, Would God my lord were with the Prophet that is in Samaria, for hee would recouer him of his leprosie. |
| 5:4 | And one went in, and tolde his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the mayd that is of the land of Israel. |
| 5:5 | And the king of Syria said, Goe to, Goe, and I will send a letter vnto the king of Israel. And hee departed, and tooke with him ten talents of siluer, and sixe thousand pieces of gold, and ten changes of raiment. |
| 5:6 | And hee brought the letter to the king of Israel, saying, Now when this letter is come vnto thee, behold, I haue therewith sent Naaman my seruant to thee, that thou mayest recouer him of his leprosie. |
| 5:7 | And it came to passe when the king of Israel had read the letter, that he rent his clothes, and said, Am I God, to kill and to make aliue, that this man doeth send vnto me, to recouer a man of his leprosie? Wherefore consider, I pray you, and see how he seeketh a quarrell against me. |
| 5:8 | And it was so when Elisha the man of God had heard, that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? Let him come now to mee, and he shall know that there is a Prophet in Israel. |
| 5:9 | So Naaman came with his horses, and with his charet, and stood at the doore of the house of Elisha. |
| 5:10 | And Elisha sent a messenger vnto him, saying, Goe and wash in Iordane seuen times, and thy flesh shall come againe to thee, and thou shalt be cleane. |
| 5:11 | But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and saide, Beholde, I thought, He will surely come out to me and stand, and call on the Name of the Lord his God, and strike his hand ouer the place, and recouer the leper. |
| 5:12 | Are not Abana and Pharpar, riuers of Damascus, better then all the waters of Israel? May I not wash in them, and be cleane? So he turned, and went away in a rage. |
| 5:13 | And his seruants came neere and spake vnto him, and said, My father, If the Prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not haue done it? How much rather then, when hee saith to thee, Wash and be cleane? |
| 5:14 | Then went he downe, and dipped himselfe seuen times in Iordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came againe like vnto the flesh of a litle childe, and he was cleane. |
| 5:15 | And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy seruant. |
| 5:16 | But he said, As the Lord liueth, before whom I stand, I will receiue none: And hee vrged him to take it, but he refused. |
| 5:17 | And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be giuen to thy seruant two mules burden of earth? for thy seruant wil henceforth offer neither burnt offering, nor sacrifice vnto other gods, but vnto the Lord. |
| 5:18 | In this thing the Lord pardon thy seruant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and hee leaneth on my hand, and I bow myselfe in the house of Rimmon: when I bow downe my selfe in the house of Rimmon, the Lord pardon thy seruant in this thing. |
| 5:19 | And he said vnto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him, a litle way. |
| 5:20 | But Gehazi the seruant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiuing at his hands that which hee brought: but as the Lord liueth, I wil runne after him, and take somewhat of him. |
| 5:21 | So Gehazi followed after Naaman: and when Naaman saw him running after him, hee lighted downe from the charet to meet him, and said, Is all well? |
| 5:22 | And he said, All is well: my master hath sent me, saying, Behold, euen now there be come to mee from mount Ephraim two yong men, of the sonnes of the Prophets: Giue them, I pray thee, a talent of siluer, and two changes of garments. |
| 5:23 | And Naaman said, Bee content, take two talents: and hee vrged him, and bound two talents of siluer in two bags, with two changes of garments, and layde them vpon two of his seruants, and they bare them before him. |
| 5:24 | And when he came to the towre, he tooke them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house, and hee let the men goe, and they departed. |
| 5:25 | But he went in, and stood before his master: and Elisha said vnto him, Whence commest thou, Gehazi? And hee said, Thy seruant went no whither. |
| 5:26 | And he said vnto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned againe from his charet to meete thee? Is it a time to receiue money, and to receiue garments, and Oliue yards, and Uineyards, and sheepe, and oxen, and men seruants, and mayd seruants? |
| 5:27 | The leprosie therefore of Naaman shall cleaue vnto thee, and vnto thy seede for euer: And hee went out from his presence a leper as white as snow. |

| 5:6 | And brought the letter to the King of Israel to this effect, Now when this letter is come vnto thee, vnderstand, that I haue sent thee Naaman my seruant, that thou maiest heale him of his leprosie. |
| 5:7 | And when the King of Israel had read the letter, he rent his clothes, and sayde, Am I God, to kill and to giue life, that hee doth send to mee, that I should heale a man from his leprosie? wherfore consider, I pray you, and see howe he seeketh a quarel against me. |
| 5:8 | But when Elisha the man of God had heard that the King of Israel had rent his clothes, hee sent vnto the King, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? Let him come now to me, and he shall knowe that there is a Prophet in Israel. |
| 5:9 | Then Naaman came with his horses, and with his charets, and stoode at the doore of the house of Elisha. |
| 5:10 | And Elisha sent a messenger vnto him, saying, Go and wash thee in Iorden seuen times, and thy flesh shall come againe to thee, and thou shalt be clensed. |
| 5:11 | But Naaman was wroth and went away, and sayde, Beholde, I thought with my selfe, Hee will surely come out, and stande, and call on the Name of the Lord his God and put his hand on the place, and heale the leprosie. |
| 5:12 | Are not Abanah and Pharpar, riuers of Damascus, better then all the waters of Israel? may I not washe mee in them, and bee cleansed? so hee turned, and departed in displeasure. |
| 5:13 | But his seruants came, and spake vnto him, and sayd, Father, if the Prophet had commanded thee a great thing, wouldest thou not haue done it? howe much rather then, when hee sayth to thee, Wash and be cleane? |
| 5:14 | Then went he downe, and washed him selfe seuen times in Iorden, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came againe, like vnto ye flesh of a litle child, and he was cleane. |
| 5:15 | And hee turned againe to the man of God, hee, and all his companie, and came and stood before him, and sayd, Behold, now I knowe that there is no God in all the world, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a reward of thy seruant. |
| 5:16 | But hee sayde, As the Lord liueth (before whom I stand) I wil not receiue it. And he would haue constrained him to receiue it, but he refused. |
| 5:17 | Moreouer Naaman sayde, Shall there not be giuen to thy seruant two mules loade of this earth? for thy seruant will henceforth offer neither burnt sacrifice nor offring vnto any other god, saue vnto the Lord. |
| 5:18 | Herein the Lord bee mercifull vnto thy seruant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon, to worship there, and leaneth on mine hand, and I bowe my selfe in the house of Rimmon: when I doe bowe downe, I say, in the house of Rimmon, the Lord be mercifull vnto thy seruant in this point. |
| 5:19 | Vnto whome he saide, Goe in peace. So he departed from him about halfe a dayes iourney of grounde. |
| 5:20 | And Gehazi the seruant of Elisha the man of God sayde, Beholde, my master hath spared this Aramite Naaman, receiuing not those things at his hand that he brought: as the Lord liueth, I will runne after him, and take somewhat of him. |
| 5:21 | So Gehazi followed speedily after Naaman. And when Naaman sawe him running after him, he light downe from the charet to meete him, and said, Is all well? |
| 5:22 | And he answered, All is well: my master hath set me, saying, Behold, there be come to me, euen nowe from mount Ephraim two yong men of the children of the Prophets: giue them, I pray thee, a talent of siluer, and two change of garmets. |
| 5:23 | And Naaman saide, Yea, take two talents: and he compelled him, and bound two talents of siluer in two bagges, with two change of garments, and gaue them vnto two of his seruants, that they might beare them before him. |
| 5:24 | And when he came to the towre, he tooke them out of their handes, and laide them in the house, and sent away the men: and they departed. |
| 5:25 | Then he went in, and stoode before his master. And Elisha said vnto him, Whence commest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy seruant went no whither. |

| 5:5 | And the kynge of Syria sayde: Come and entre in and I wyll sende a letter vnto the kynge of Israel. And he came, and toke with him ten talentes of syluer, and .vj. thousande peces of golde, & ten chaunge of raymentes, |
| 5:6 | and brought the letter to the kynge of Israel contaynynge this tenoure: Nowe when this letter is come vnto the: Beholde, I haue therwith sent Naaman my seruaunt to the, that thou mayest rydde him of his leprosie. |
| 5:7 | And it fortuned, that when the kynge of Israel had redde the letter, he rent his clothes, and sayde: am I God, that I shulde slaye, & make alyue? For he doth sende to me that I shulde delyuer a man from his leprosie. Wherfore consyder (I praye you) and se howe he seketh a quarell agaynst me. |
| 5:8 | which when Elisa the man of God had hearde, howe that the kynge of Israel had rent his clothes, he sent to the kynge, sayinge. Wherfore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come nowe to me & he shall know, that there is a prophet in Israel. |
| 5:9 | And so Naaman came wt his horsses and with his charettes, and stode at the dore of the housse of Elisa. |
| 5:10 | And Elisa sent a messenger vnto him, sayinge: go and washe the in Iordan seuen tymes, & thy fleshe shall come agayne to the, & thou shalt be cleansed. |
| 5:11 | But Naaman was wroth, & went a waye, & sayde. Beholde I thought wt my selfe: he wolde surely come out, and stande & call on the name of the Lorde his God, and put his hande on the place that he maye heale the leprosie. |
| 5:12 | Are not Abana & Pharphar, ryuers of Damasco, better then all the waters of Israel? Yf I washe me also in them, shall I not be clensed? And so he turned him, and departed with displeasure. |
| 5:13 | And his seruauntes came, & commoned with hym, and sayde: Father, yf the prophete had bydd the do some great thinge, oughtest thou not to haue done it? How moch rather then, whan he sayth to the: wasshe, and be cleane? |
| 5:14 | Then went he downe, & wasshed him selfe seuen tymes in Iordan, accordynge to the sayinge of the man of God, & his flesshe chaunged, like vnto the flesshe of a lytle chylde, & he was cleansed. |
| 5:15 | And he turned agayne to the man of God, he and all his companie, and stode before him, and sayde: Beholde, I knowe nowe that there is no God in all the worlde, but in Israel. Nowe therfore take a blessinge of thy seruaunt. |
| 5:16 | But he sayde: as surely as the Lorde liueth (before whom I stande) I will receaue none. And whan the other wolde haue constrayned hym to receaue it, he wolde not. |
| 5:17 | And Naaman sayde: Shall there not be geuen to thy seruaunt as moch of this erthe as two mules maye beare? For thy seruaunt will here forth offer nether burnt sacrifyce nor offeringe vnto any other God, saue vnto the Lorde. |
| 5:18 | But herin the Lorde be mercyfull to thy seruaunt, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon, & doth worshyppe there, & leaneth on my hande, and I also worshyppe in the house of Rimmon. (Whan I do worshyppe I saye) in the house of Rimmon, the Lorde be mercyfull vnto thy seruaunt because of thys thinge. |
| 5:19 | Unto whom he sayde: go in peace. And when he was departed from him as it were a furlonge of grounde, |
| 5:20 | Gehezi the seruaunt of Elisa the man of God, sayde: beholde, my master hath spared Naaman thys Syrian, that he wolde not receaue of hys hande those thynges that he offered. As surely as the Lorde lyueth, I wyll runne after him, & take some what of him. |
| 5:21 | And so Gehezi folowed Naaman. And when Naaman sawe him runninge after him, he lyght downe from the charet, to mete him, and sayde: is all well? |
| 5:22 | He answered: All is well. Beholde, my master hath sent me, sayinge: se, there be come to me euen nowe from mount Ephraim two yonge men of the chyldren of the prophetes: geue them I praye the, one talent of syluer and two chaunge of garmentes. |
| 5:23 | And Naaman sayde: With a good will. Take two talentes: & he compelled him to bynde two talentes of syluer in two bagges, with two chaunge of garmentes, and layed them vpon two of his seruauntes, to beare them before him. |
| 5:24 | And whan he came in to a secrete place, he toke them from their hande, & bestowed it in the house, & the men were let go, |
| 5:25 | and they departed. But he went in, and stode before his master. And Elisa sayde vnto him: whence commest thou Gehezi? He sayde: thy seruaunt went no whether. |
| 5:26 | But he sayde vnto hym: went not myne hert with the, when the man turned agayne from his charet to mete the? Is it nowe a tyme to receaue moneye, to receaue garmentes, olyue trees, vyneyardes, shepe and oxen, men seruauntes & mayde seruauntes? |
| 5:27 | The leprosye therfore of Naaman shall cleaue vnto the, and vnto thy seed for euer. And he went out from his presence a leper, as whyte as snowe. |
