2 Kings - Chapter: 25


25:1	And it came to passe in the ninth yeere of his reigne, in the tenth moneth, in the tenth day of the moneth, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, hee, and all his hoste, against Ierusalem, and pitched against it, and they built fortes against it, round about.
25:2	And the citie was besieged vnto the eleuenth yeere of king Zedekiah.
25:3	And on the ninth day of the fourth moneth, the famine preuailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.
25:4	And the citie was broken vp, and all the men of warre fled by night, by the way of the gate, betweene two walles, which is by the kings garden, (now the Caldees were against the citie round about) and the King went the way toward the plaine.
25:5	And the army of the Caldees pursued after the King, and ouertooke him in the plaines of Iericho: and all his armie were scattered from him.
25:6	So they tooke the King, and brought him vp to the King of Babylon, to Riblah, and they gaue iudgement vpon him.
25:7	And they slew the sonnes of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brasse, and carried him to Babylon.
25:8	And in the fifth moneth, on the seuenth day of the moneth (which is the nineteenth yeere of King Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon) came Nebuzaradan captaine of the guard, a seruant of the king of Babylon, vnto Ierusalem:
25:9	And hee burnt the house of the Lord, and the kings house, and all the houses of Ierusalem, and euery great mans house burnt he with fire.
25:10	And all the army of the Caldees that were with the captaine of the guard, brake downe the walles of Ierusalem round about.
25:11	Now the rest of the people that were left in the citie, and the fugitiues that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captaine of the guard cary away.
25:12	But the captaine of the guard left of the poore of the land, to be Uine-dressers, and husbandmen.
25:13	And the pillars of brasse that were in the house of the Lord, and the bases, and the brasen sea that was in the house of the Lord, did the Caldees breake in pieces, and caried the brasse of them to Babylon.
25:14	And the pots, and the shouels, and the snuffers, and the spoones, and all the vessels of brasse wherewith they ministred, tooke they away.
25:15	And the fire-pans, and the bowles, & such things as were of golde, in golde, and of siluer, in siluer, the captaine of the guard tooke away.
25:16	The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the Lord, the brasse of al these vessels was without weight.
25:17	The height of the one pillar was eighteene cubits, and the chapiter vpon it was brasse: and the height of the chapiter three cubites; and the wreathen worke, and pomegranates vpon the chapiter round about, all of brasse: and like vnto these had the second pillar with wreathen worke.
25:18	And the captaine of the guard, tooke Seraiah the chiefe Priest, and Zephaniah the second Priest, and the three keepers of the doore.
25:19	And out of the citie hee tooke an Officer, that was set ouer the men of warre, and fiue men of them that were in the kings presence, which were found in the citie, and the principall Scribe of the hoste, which mustered the people of the land, and threescore men of the people of the land that were found in the citie.
25:20	And Nebuzaradan captaine of the guard tooke these, and brought them to the king of Babylon, to Riblah.
25:21	And the King of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath: so Iudah was caried away out of their land.
25:22	And as for the people that remained in the land of Iudah, whom Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon had left, euen ouer them he made Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, the sonne of Shaphan, ruler.
25:23	And when all the captaines of the armies, they, and their men, heard that the King of Babylon had made Gedaliah gouernour, there came to Gedaliah to Mispah, euen Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and Iohanan the sonne of Careah, and Seraiah the sonne of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Iaazaniah the sonne of a Maachathite, they, and their men.
25:24	And Gedaliah sware to them and to their men, and said vnto them, Feare not to be the seruants of the Caldees: dwell in the land, and serue the King of Babylon; and it shall bee well with you.
25:25	But it came to passe in the seuenth moneth, that Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, the sonne of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men with him, and smote Gedaliah, that he died, and the Iewes, and the Caldees that were with him at Mizpah.
25:26	And all the people both small and great, and the captaines of the armies arose, and came to Egypt: for they were afraid of the Caldees.
25:27	And it came to passe in the seuen and thirtieth yeere of the captiuitie of Iehoiachin king of Iudah, in the twelfth moneth, on the seuen and twentieth day of the moneth, that Euilmerodach king of Babylon, in the yeere that he began to reigne, did lift vp the head of Iehoiachin king of Iudah out of prison.
25:28	And he spake kindly to him, and set his throne aboue the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon,
25:29	And changed his prison garments: and he did eate bread continually before him all the dayes of his life.
25:30	And his allowance was a continuall allowance giuen him of the king, a dayly rate for euery day, all the dayes of his life.

25:5	But the armie of the Caldees pursued after the King, and tooke him in the desertes of Iericho, and all his hoste was scattered from him.
25:6	Then they tooke the King, and caried him vp to the King of Babel to Riblah, where they gaue iudgement vpon him.
25:7	And they slew the sonnes of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bounde him in chaines, and caried him to Babel.
25:8	And in the fift moneth, and seuenth day of the moneth, which was the nineteenth yere of King Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel, came Nebuzar-adan chiefe stewarde and seruaunt of the King of Babel, to Ierusalem,
25:9	And burnt the house of the Lord, and the Kings house, and all the houses of Ierusalem, and all the great houses burnt he with fire.
25:10	And all the armie of the Caldees that were with the chiefe stewarde, brake downe the walles of Ierusalem round about.
25:11	And the rest of the people that were left in the citie, and those that were fled and fallen to the King of Babel, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzar-adan chiefe steward carie away captiue.
25:12	But the chiefe steward left of the poore of the land to dresse the vines, and to till the land.
25:13	Also the pillars of brasse that were in the house of the Lord, and the bases, and the brasen Sea that was in the house of the Lord, did the Caldees breake, and caried the brasse of them to Babel.
25:14	The pots also and the besomes, and the instruments of musike, and the incense dishes, and al the vessels of brasse that they ministred in, tooke they away.
25:15	And the asshe pannes, and the basens, and all that was of gold, and that was of siluer, tooke the chiefe steward away,
25:16	With the two pillars, one Sea and the bases, which Salomon had made for the house of the Lord: the brasse of all these vessels was without weight.
25:17	The height of the one pillar was eighteene cubits, and the chapiter thereon was brasse, and the height of the chapiter was with networke three cubites, and pomegranates vpon the chapiter rounde about, all of brasse: and likewise was the second pillar with the networke.
25:18	And the chiefe steward tooke Seraiah the chiefe Priest, and Zephaniah the second Priest, and the three keepers of the doore.
25:19	And out of the citie hee tooke an Eunuch that had the ouersight of the men of warre, and fiue men of them that were in the Kinges presence, which were founde in the citie, and Sopher captaine of the hoste, who mustred the people of the lande, and threescore men of the people of the lande, that were founde in the citie.
25:20	And Nebuzar-adan the chiefe stewarde tooke them, and brought them to the King of Babel to Riblah.
25:21	And the King of Babel smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Iudah was caried away captiue out of his owne land.
25:22	Howbeit there remained people in the land of Iudah, whom Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel left, and made Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan ruler ouer them.
25:23	Then when all the captaines of the host and their men heard, that the king of Babel had made Gedaliah gouernour, they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, to wit, Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and Seraiah the sonne of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Iaazaniah the sonne of Maachathi, they and their men.
25:24	And Gedaliah sware to them, and to their men, and sayd vnto them, Feare not to be the seruants of the Caldees: dwell in the land, and serue the King of Babel, and ye shalbe well.
25:25	But in the seuenth moneth Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah the sonne of Elishama of the Kings seede, came, and ten men with him, and smote Gedaliah, and he died, and so did he the Iewes, and the Caldees that were with him at Mizpah.
25:26	Then all ye people both small and great, and the captaines of the armie arose, and came to Egypt: for they were afraide of the Caldees.
25:27	Notwithstanding in the seuen and thirtieth yeere after Iehoiachin King of Iudah was caried away, in the twelft moneth and the seuen and twentieth day of the moneth, Euil-merodach King of Babel in the yeere that hee began to reigne, did lift vp the head of Iehoiachin King of Iudah out of the prison,
25:28	And spake kindly to him, and set his throne aboue the throne of the Kings that were with him in Babel,
25:29	And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eate bread before him, all the dayes of his life.
25:30	And his portion was a continual portion giuen him by the King, euery day a certaine, all the dayes of his life.


25:1	And it fortuned, that in the nynth yere of hys raygne, the tenth daye of the tenth moneth: Nebuchadnezar kynge of Babilon came, he and all his hoost agaynst Ierusalem: and pitched agaynst it, and made engynes agaynst it on euery syde.
25:2	And the citye was beseged vnto the eleuenth yere of kinge Zedekia.
25:3	And the nynth daye of the moneth, there was so greate hongre in the citye, that there was no breed for the people of the lande.
25:4	And the citye was broken vp: and all the men of armes fledd by nyght, by a waye thorowe a gate which is betwene two walles, by the kynges garden: the Chaldees lyinge about the citye. And the kynge went the waye towarde the playne.
25:5	And the soudyers of the Chaldees folowed after the kynge, and toke him in the playne of Iericho, and all hys armye were scatered awaye from hym,
25:6	So they toke the kynge, and brought hym to Nebuchadnezar the kynge of Babylon to Ribla, where they reasoned wt hym.
25:7	And they slue the sonnes of Zedekia before hys eyes: and he put out the eyes of Zedekia, and fettered him with two chaynes, and caryed hym to Babylon.
25:8	And the .vij. daye of the .v. moneth which is the .xix. yere of king Nabuchadnezer king of Babylon, came Nebusaradan a seruaunt of the kynge of Babylon, and chefe captayne of the men of warre, vnto Ierusalem:
25:9	& burnt the house of the Lorde, and the kynges house, and all the houses of Ierusalem, & all great houses burnt he wt fyre.
25:10	And all the soudiers of the Chaldees that were with the chefe captayne of the men of warre, broke downe the walles of Ierusalem rounde about.
25:11	But the rest of the people that were left in the citye, and them that were fledd to the kyng of Babylon, wt the remnaunt of the comen people, dyd Nabusaradan the chefe captayne of the men of warre carye awaye:
25:12	but the captayne of the souldyers lefte of the poore of the lande, to dresse the vynes, and to tyll the grounde.
25:13	And the pyllers of brasse that were in the house of the Lord, and the sockettes, and the brasen lauatory that was in the house of the Lorde dyd the Chaldees breake, and caryed all the brasse of them to Babylon.
25:14	And the pottes, shouelles, dressynge knyues, spones, and all the vessels of brasse that they minystred in, toke they awaye.
25:15	And the fyer pannes, and basens, and soch thinges as were of golde, & of siluer,
25:16	then toke the chefe captayne awaye: euen two pyllers, one lauatory, and the sokettes which Salomon had made for the house of the Lord. The brasse of all these vesselles was without waight.
25:17	The heygth of the one pyller was .xviij. cubytes, and the heed theron was brasse, and thre cubytes hye and vpon the heed was there a wrethen worke and pomegranates rounde aboute, all of brasse. And of the same fassyon was the seconde pyller, with a wrethen worke.
25:18	And the chefe captayne of the men of warre toke Saraia the chefe preste, and Zephoniah the hyest preste saue one, and the thre kepers of the holy thynges.
25:19	And out of the citye he toke a chamberlayne, that had the ouersight of the men of warre, and .v. men of them that were euer in the kynges presence, which were founde in the cytie: and him that was scrybe to the captayne of the hoost, which brought out the people of the lande to warre, and thre skore men of the people of the lande, that were founde in the citye.
25:20	And Nebusaradan the chefe captayne of the men of warre toke these, and brought them to the kynge of Babylon to Ribla.
25:21	And the kynge of Babylon smote them, and slue them at Ribla in the hande of Hanath. And so Iuda was caryed awaye out of theyr lande.
25:22	Howebeit, there remayned people in the lande of Iuda, whom Nebuchadnezar kyng of Babylon lefte, & made Gedalia the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Saphan ruler ouer them.
25:23	And all the captaynes of the souldyers, and other men hearde, that the kynge of Babilon had made Gedalia gouerner: and there came to Gedalia to Mazphah: Ismael the sonne of Nethania, Iohannan the sonne of Karea, Saraia the sonne of Thanhumeth the Netophathite, and Iazaania the sonne of Maachati, & theyr men.
25:24	And Gedalia sware to them and to the men whom they had with them, and sayde vnto them: feare not ye because ye are the seruauntes of the caldees, dwell in the lande, and serue the kinge of Babilon, and ye shalbe well.
25:25	But it chaunced in the seuenth moneth, that Ismael the sonne of Nethania the sonne of Elisama, of the kynges bloude, came, and ten men with hym, and smote Gedalia, that he dyed: and so dyd he the Iewes and the Chaldees that were with hym at Mizpa.
25:26	And all the people, bothe small and greate, and the captaynes of warre arose, and came to Egipte: for they were afrayd of the Chaldees.
25:27	Notwithstandyng yet in the seuen and thyrtye yere after Iehoachin kynge of Iuda was caryed awaye the seuen and twentye daye of the twelueth moneth, Euilmerodach kynge of Babylon, the same yeare that he beganne to raygne, dyd lyfte vp the heade of Iehoachin kynge of Iuda out of the preson,
25:28	and spake kyndely to hym, and set hys seate aboue the seate of the kynges that were with hym in Babylon:
25:29	and chaunged hys preson garmentes. And he dyd euer eate breed before hym, all the dayes of hys lyfe.
25:30	Hys porcyon was a contynuall porcyon that was assigned hym of the kyng, euery daye a certayne, as longe as he lyued.
