2 Chronicles - Chapter: 11

>
11:1And when Rehoboam was come to Ierusalem, he gathered of the house of Iudah and Beniamin, an hundred and fourescore thousand chosen men, which were warriers, to fight against Israel, that hee might bring the kingdome againe to Rehoboam.
11:2But the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
11:3Speake vnto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Iudah, and to all Israel in Iudah & Beniamin, saying,
11:4Thus saith the Lord; Ye shall not goe vp, nor fight against your brethren: returne euery man to his house, for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the Lord, and returned from going against Ieroboam.
11:5And Rehoboam dwelt in Ierusalem, and built cities for defence in Iudah.
11:6He built euen Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
11:7And Bethzur, and Shoco, and Adullam,
11:8And Gath, and Maresha, and Ziph,
11:9And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
11:10And Zorah, and Aialon, and Hebron, which are in Iudah and in Beniamin, fenced cities.
11:11And he fortified the strong holds, and put captaines in them, and store of vitaile, and of oyle and wine.
11:12And in euery seuerall citie he put shields and speares, and made them exceeding strong, hauing Iudah and Beniamin on his side.
11:13And the Priests and the Leuites that were in all Israel, resorted to him out of all their coasts.
11:14For the Leuites left their suburbs, and their possession, and came to Iudah and Ierusalem: for Ieroboam and his sonnes had cast them off from executing the Priests office vnto the Lord.
11:15And hee ordeined him priests for the high places, and for the deuils, and for the calues which he had made.
11:16And after them out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seeke the Lord God of Israel, came to Ierusalem, to sacrifice vnto the Lord God of their fathers.
11:17So they strengthened the kingdome of Iudah, and made Rehoboam the sonne of Solomon strong, three yeeres: for three yeeres they walked in the way of Dauid and Solomon.
11:18And Rehoboam tooke him Mahalath the daughter of Ierimoth the sonne of Dauid to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Iesse:
11:19Which bare him children, Ieush, and Shamariah, and Zaham.
11:20And after her, hee tooke Maacah the daughter of Absalom, which bare him Abiiah, and Atthai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
11:21And Rehoboam loued Maacah the daughter of Absalom, aboue all his wiues and his concubines: for he tooke eighteene wiues, and threescore concubines, and begate twentie and eight sonnes, and threescore daughters.
11:22And Rehoboam made Abiiah the sonne of Maacah the chiefe, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
11:23And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his children throughout all the countries of Iudah and Beniamin, vnto euery fenced citie: and he gaue them vitaile in abundance: and hee desired many wiues.

11:2And the worde of the Lorde came to Semiahu the man of God, saying
11:3Speake vnto Rehoboam the sonne of Solomon king of Iuda, & to all them of Israel that are in Iuda and Beniamin, and say
11:4Thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not go vp nor fight against your brethren: returne euery man to his house, for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the wordes of the Lorde, and returned from going against Ieroboam
11:5And Rehoboam dwelt in Hierusalem, and built strong cities in Iuda
11:6He built vp Bethlehem, & Etam, and Thekoa
11:7Bethzur, Socho, and Adullam
11:8Gath, and Maresa, and Ziph
11:9Adurahim, Lachis, and Azecah
11:10Zoraa, Aialon, and Hebron, which is in Iuda and Beniamin, strong cities
11:11And he repaired the strong holdes, and put captaynes in them, and store of vittaile, and wine, and oyle
11:12And in all cities he put shieldes and speares, & made them exceeding strong, hauing Iuda and Beniamin on his syde
11:13And the priestes and the Leuites that were in all Israel, resorted to him out of all their coastes
11:14For the Leuites left their suburbes, and their possession, and came to Iuda and Hierusalem: For Ieroboam and his sonnes had cast them out from ministring vnto the Lorde
11:15And he ordayned him priestes for the high places, for the deuils, and for the calues which he had made
11:16And after the Leuites, there went out all the tribes of Israel, such as submitted their heartes to seeke the Lord God of Israel, and came to Hierusalem to offer vnto the Lorde God of their fathers
11:17And so they strengthed the kingdome of Iuda, & made Rehoboam the sonne of Solomon mightie three yeres long: for three yeres they walked in the way of Dauid and Solomon
11:18And Rehoboam toke him Mahalath the daughter of Ierimoth the sonne of Dauid to wyfe, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the sonne of Isai
11:19Which bare him children, Ieus, Samaria, and Zaham
11:20And after her he toke Maacha the daughter of Absolon, which bare him Abia, Atthai, Ziza, and Selomith
11:21And Rehoboam loued Maacha the daughter of Absolo aboue al his wyues and concubines: for he toke eyghteene wyues and threescore concubines, and begat twentie and eyght sonnes & threescore daughters
11:22And Rehoboam made Abia the sonne of Maacha, the chiefe ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king
11:23And he played wyselie, and scattered all his children throughout al the countryes of Iuda and Beniamin vnto euery strong citie, and he gaue them aboundaunce of vittaile, and obtayned many wyues
