| 12:1 | And it came to passe when Rehoboam had established the kingdome, and had strengthened himselfe, hee forsooke the Law of the Lord, and all Israel with him. |
| 12:2 | And it came to passe, that in the fifth yere of Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, ( because they had transgressed against the Lord ) |
| 12:3 | With twelue hundred charets, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt: the Lubims, the Sukkiims, & the Ethiopians. |
| 12:4 | And hee tooke the fenced cities which perteined to Iudah, and came to Ierusalem. |
| 12:5 | Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the Princes of Iudah that were gathered together to Ierusalem because of Shishak, and said vnto them, Thus saith the Lord, Ye haue forsaken me, and therfore haue I also left you in the hand of Shishak. |
| 12:6 | Whereupon, the Princes of Israel, and the king humbled themselues and they saide, The Lord is righteous. |
| 12:7 | And when the Lord saw that they humbled themselues, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They haue humbled themselues, therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliuerance, and my wrath shall not bee powred out vpon Ierusalem, by the hand of Shishak. |
| 12:8 | Neuerthelesse they shalbe his seruants, that they may know my seruice, and the seruice of the kingdomes of the countreys. |
| 12:9 | So Shishak king of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, and tooke away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the kings house, hee tooke all: he caried away also the shields of gold, which Solomon had made. |
| 12:10 | In stead of which, king Rehoboam made shields of brasse, and committed them to the hands of the chiefe of the guard, that kept the entrance of the Kings house. |
| 12:11 | And when the king entred into the house of the Lord, the guard came and fet them, and brought them againe into the guard-chamber. |
| 12:12 | And when he humbled himselfe, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that hee would not destroy him altogether: and also in Iudah things went well. |
| 12:13 | So king Rehoboam strengthened himselfe in Ierusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and fourty yeeres olde when hee began to reigne, and he reigned seuenteen yeeres in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his Name there: and his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonitesse. |
| 12:14 | And hee did euill, because hee prepared not his heart to seeke the Lord. |
| 12:15 | Now the acts of Rehoboam first and last, are they not written in the booke of Shemaiah the Prophet, and of Iddo the Seer, concerning genealogies? and there were warres betweene Rehoboam & Ieroboam continually. |
| 12:16 | And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the citie of Dauid, and Abiiah his sonne reigned in his stead. |

| 12:5 | Then came Shemaiah the Prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Iudah, that were gathered together in Hierusalem, because of Shishak, and sayde vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord, Ye haue forsaken me, therefore haue I also left you in the handes of Shishak. |
| 12:6 | Then the princes of Israel, and the King humbled themselues, and sayde, The Lord is iust. |
| 12:7 | And when the Lord sawe that they humbled themselues, the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They haue humbled theselues, therefore I will not destroy them, but I will sende them deliuerance shortly, and my wrath shall not bee powred out vpon Ierusalem by the hand of Shishak. |
| 12:8 | Neuerthelesse they shalbe his sernants: so shall they knowe my seruice, and the seruice of the kingdomes of the earth. |
| 12:9 | Then Shishak King of Egypt came vp against Ierusalem, and tooke the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the Kings house he tooke euen all, and hee caried away the shields of golde, which Salomon had made. |
| 12:10 | In stead whereof King Rehoboam made shieldes of brasse, and committed them to the handes of the chiefe of the garde, that wayted at the doore of the Kings house. |
| 12:11 | And when the King entred into the house of the Lord, the garde came and bare them and brought them againe vnto the garde chamber. |
| 12:12 | And because hee humbled himselfe, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, that hee woulde not destroy all together. And also in Iudah the things prospered. |
| 12:13 | So King Rehoboam was strong in Ierusalem and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and fourtie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and reigned seuenteene yeres in Ierusalem, the citie which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his Name there. And his mothers name was Naamah an Ammonitesse. |

| 12:3 | wt .xii.C. charettes, and .lx.M. horsmen. And the people were without nombre, that came with hym out of Egypte Lubim, Sukkim, and the blackmores. |
| 12:4 | And they toke the stronge cyties in Iuda, and came to Ierusalem. |
| 12:5 | Then came Semeia the prophete to Rehoboam & to the Lordes of Iuda, that were gathered together within Ierusalem for Sesac, and sayd vnto them: thus sayd the Lord, ye haue left me, & therfore haue I also left you in the handes of Sesac. |
| 12:6 | Wherupon the lordes of Israel and the kynge humbled them selues, and sayde, the Lorde is ryghteous. |
| 12:7 | And whan the Lorde sawe that they submitted themselues, the worde of the Lorde cam to Semeia, sayinge: They submitte them selues, therfore I wyll not destroye them. But I wyll delyuer them somwhat, and my wrath shall not burne vpon Ierusalem by the hande of Sesac. |
| 12:8 | Neuerthelesse, they shalbe hys seruauntes, to knowe what difference is betwene my seruice, and the seruice of the kyngdomes of the worlde. |
| 12:9 | And so Sesac kynge of Egypte came to Ierusalem, and toke awaye the treasures of the house of the Lorde, and the treasures of the kynges house: he toke euen all. And he caryed awaye the shyldes of golde, which Salomon made. |
| 12:10 | In steade of which, kynge Rehoboam made shyldes of brasse, and commytted them to the handes of the captaynes which had the ouersyght of the fotemen, and that kept the entraunce of the kynges house. |
| 12:11 | And it came to passe, that when the kynge entred into the house of the Lorde, the garde came & fet them, and brought them agayne vnto the garde chambre. |
| 12:12 | And when he humbled hymselfe, the wrath of the Lorde turned from hym, that he wolde not destroye all together. And in Iuda all was well. |
| 12:13 | And so kyng Rehoboam waxed myghty & raygned in Ierusalem. And Rehoboam was .xli. yere olde, when he began to raygne, & he raygned .xvii. yeres in Ierusalem, the cytie which the Lorde had chosen out of all the trybes of Israel to put his name there. And hys mothers name was Naama an Ammonitesse. |

| 12:15 | The actes also of Rehoboam, fyrst and last, are they not wrytten in the sayinges of Semeia the prophete, and of Iddo the fear which noted the genealogie? and there was warre alwaye betwene Rehoboam & Ieroboam. |
| 12:16 | And Rehoboam slept wt his fathers, and was buryed in the cytie of Dauid, and Abia his sonne raygned in his steade. |
