2 Chronicles - Chapter: 18


18:1	Now Iehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and ioyned affinitie with Ahab.
18:2	And after certaine yeeres, he went downe to Ahab to Samaria: and Ahab killed sheepe and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and perswaded him to goe vp with him to Ramoth Gilead.
18:3	And Ahab king of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat king of Iudah, Wilt thou goe with me to Ramoth Gilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people, and we will be with thee in the warre.
18:4	And Iehoshaphat saide vnto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the Lord to day.
18:5	Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets foure hundred men, and said vnto them, Shal we goe to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shal I forbeare? And they said, Goe vp, for God will deliuer it into the kings hand.
18:6	But Iehoshaphat saide, Is there not here a Prophet of the Lord besides, that we might enquire of him?
18:7	And the king of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the Lord: but I hate him, for he neuer prophesied good vnto me, but alwayes euill: the same is Micaiah the sonne of Iimla. And Iehoshaphat saide, Let not the king say so.
18:8	And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and saide, Fetch quickly Micaiah the sonne of Iimla.
18:9	And the king of Israel and Iehoshaphat king of Iudah sate, either of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sate in a voide place at the entring in of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets prophesied before them.
18:10	And Zedekiah the sonne of Chenaanah, had made him hornes of yron, and said, Thus saith the Lord, With these thou shalt push Syria, vntil they be consumed.
18:11	And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Goe vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the king.
18:12	And the messenger that went to call Micaiah, spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent: let thy word therefore, I pray thee be like one of theirs, and speake thou good.
18:13	And Micaiah said, As the Lord liueth, euen what my God saith, that will I speake.
18:14	And when hee was come to the king, the king sayd vnto him, Micaiah, shall we goe to Ramoth Gilead to battell, or shall I fobreare? and he sayd, Goe yee vp, and prosper, and they shall be deliuered into your hand.
18:15	And the king sayd to him, Howe many times shall I adiure thee, that thou say nothing but the truth to me, in the name of the Lord?
18:16	Then he sayd, I did see all Israel scattered vpon the mountaines, as sheepe that haue no shepheard: and the Lord sayd, These haue no master, let them returne therefore, euery man to his house in peace.
18:17	(And the king of Israel sayd to Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that hee would not prophesie good vnto mee, but euill?)
18:18	Againe he sayd; Therefore heare the word of the Lord: I sawe the Lord sitting vpon his throne, and all the hoste of heauen standing on his right hand, and on his left.
18:19	And the Lord sayd, Who shall entise Ahab king of Israel, that hee may goe vp and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one spake, saying after this maner, and another saying after that maner.
18:20	Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and sayd, I will entise him. And the Lord sayd vnto him, Wherewith?
18:21	And hee sayd, I will goe out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord sayd, Thou shalt entise him, and thou shalt also preuaile: goe out, and doe euen so.
18:22	Nowe therefore behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken euill against thee.
18:23	Then Zedekiah the sonne of Chenaanah, came neere, and smote Micaiah vpon the cheeke, and sayd, Which way went the spirit of the Lord from mee, to speake vnto thee?
18:24	And Micaiah sayd, Behold, thou shalt see on that day, when thou shalt goe into an inner chamber to hide thy selfe.
18:25	Then the king of Israel sayd, Take yee Micaiah, and carie him backe to Amon the gouernour of the citie, and to Ioash the kings sonne:
18:26	And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feede him with bread of affliction, and with water of affliction, vntill I returne in peace.
18:27	And Micaiah sayd, If thou certainly returne in peace, then hath not the Lord spoken by mee. And hee sayd, Hearken all yee people.
18:28	So the king of Israel, and Iehoshaphat the king of Iudah, went vp to Ramoth Gilead.
18:29	And the king of Israel sayd vnto Iehoshaphat, I will disguise my selfe, and will goe to the battell, but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himselfe, and they went to the battell.
18:30	Now the king of Syria had commaunded the captaines of the charets that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, saue onely with the king of Israel.
18:31	And it came to passe when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, that they sayd, It is the king of Israel: therefore they compassed about him to fight. But Iehoshaphat cryed out, and the Lord helped him, and God moued them to depart from him.
18:32	For it came to passe, that when the captaines of the charets perceiued that it was not the king of Israel, they turned backe againe from pursuing him.
18:33	And a certaine man drew a bowe at a venture, and smote the king of Israel betweene the ioints of the harnesse: therefore hee sayd to his charetman, Turne thine hand, that thou mayest carie me out of the hoste, for I am wounded.
18:34	And the battell increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed himselfe vp in his charet against the Syrians, vntill the Euen: and about the time of the sunne going downe, hee dyed.

18:4	And Iehoshaphat sayde vnto the King of Israel, Aske counsel, I pray thee, at the worde of the Lord this day.
18:5	Therefore the King of Israel gathered of Prophets foure hundreth men, and sayde vnto them, Shall we goe to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I cease? And they sayd, Go vp: for God shall deliuer it into the Kings hand.
18:6	But Iehoshaphat sayde, Is there heere neuer a Prophet more of the Lord that wee might inquire of him?
18:7	And the King of Israel sayd vnto Iehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whome wee may aske counsell of the Lord, but I hate him: for he doeth not prophesie good vnto me, but alway euil: it is Michaiah the sonne of Imla. Then Iehoshaphat said, Let not the King say so.
18:8	And the King of Israel called an eunuche, and said, Call quickly Michaiah the sonne of Imla.
18:9	And the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat King of Iudah sate either of them on his throne clothed in their apparel: they sate euen in the threshing floore at the entring in of the gate of Samaria: and all the Prophets prophesied before them.
18:10	And Zidkiah ye sonne of Chenaanah made him hornes of yron, and sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, With these shalt thou push the Aramites vntill thou hast consumed them.
18:11	And all the Prophets prophesied so, saying, Go vp to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliuer it into the hand of the King.
18:12	And the messenger that went to call Michaiah, spake to him, saying, Beholde, the wordes of the Prophets declare good to the King with one accord: let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speake thou good.
18:13	And Michaiah saide, As the Lord liueth, whatsoeuer my God saith, that will I speake.
18:14	So he came to the King, and the King said vnto him, Michaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battel, or shall I leaue off? And he said, Goe yee vp, and prosper, and they shalbe deliuered into your hand.
18:15	And the King sayd to him, Howe oft shall I charge thee, that thou tell mee nothing but the trueth in the Name of the Lord?
18:16	Then he said, I saw al Israel scattered in the mountaines, as sheepe that haue no shepheard: and the Lord sayd, These haue no Master: let them returne euery man to his house in peace.
18:17	And the King of Israel sayde to Iehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee, that he would not prophesie good vnto me, but euill?
18:18	Againe hee saide, Therefore heare ye the worde of the Lord: I sawe the Lord sit vpon his throne, and all the hoste of heauen standing at his right hand, and at his left.
18:19	And the Lord sayd, Who shall perswade Ahab King of Israel, that he may go vp, and fall at Ramoth Gilead? And one spake and said thus, and another said that.
18:20	Then there came forth a spirit and stoode before the Lord, and said, I will perswade him. And the Lord said vnto him, Wherein?
18:21	And he saide, I will goe out, and bee a false spirit in the mouth of all his Prophets. And hee said, Thou shalt perswade, and shalt also preuaile: goe forth and do so.
18:22	Now therefore behold, the Lord hath put a false spirit in the mouth of these thy Prophets, and the Lord hath determined euill against thee.
18:23	Then Zidkiah the sonne of Chenaanah came neere, and smote Michaiah vpon the cheeke, and sayde, By what way went the Spirit of the Lord from me, to speake with thee?
18:24	And Michaiah saide, Behold, thou shalt see that day when thou shalt goe from chamber to chamber to hide thee.
18:25	And the King of Israel sayde, Take ye Michaiah, and cary him to Amon the gouernour of the citie, and to Ioash the Kings sonne,
18:26	And say, Thus saith the King, Put this man in the prison house, and feede him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction vntil I returne in peace.
18:27	And Michaiah said, If thou returne in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he saide, Heare, all ye people.
18:28	So the King of Israel and Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah went vp to Ramoth Gilead.
18:29	And the King of Israel said vnto Iehoshaphat, I will change my selfe, and enter into the battel: but put thou on thine apparel. So the King of Israel changed himselfe, and they went into the battel.
18:30	And the King of Aram had commanded the captaines of the charets that were with him, saying, Fight you not with small, nor great, but against the King of Israel onely.
18:31	And when the captaines of the charets saw Iehoshaphat, they sayde, It is the King of Israel: and they compassed about him to fight. But Iehoshaphat cryed, and the Lord helped him and moued them to depart from him.
18:32	For when the captaines of the charets saw that hee was not the King of Israel, they turned backe from him.
18:33	Then a certaine man drewe a bowe mightily, and smote the King of Israel betweene the ioyntes of his brigandine: Therefore he saide to his charetman, Turne thine hand, and carie mee out of the host: for I am hurt.
18:34	And the battel increased that day: and the King of Israel stood still in his charet against the Aramites vntil euen, and dyed at the time of the sunne going downe.


18:1	And Iehosaphat had aboundance of rychesse and honoure, and ioyned affinyte wt Ahab.
18:2	And after certayne yeres he went downe to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab slue many shepe & oxen for hym, and for the people that he had with hym, and entreated him to go vp with hym vnto Ramoth in Gilead.
18:3	And Ahab kynge of Israel sayde to Iehosaphat kynge of Iuda: wylt thou go with me to Ramoth in Gilead? And he answered hym: I wyll be as thou, and my people shalbe as thyne, and we wyll go with the to the warre.
18:4	And Iehosaphat sayd vnto the kynge of Israel: aske councell I praye the, at the worde of the Lorde, thys same daye.
18:5	Therfore the kyng of Israel gathered together of prophetes .iiij.C. men, and sayde vnto them: shall we go to Ramoth in Gilead to fyght, or shulde I cease? And they sayde: go vp, & God shall delyuer it into the kinges hande.
18:6	But Iehosaphat sayde: is there yet here neuer a prophete more of the Lordes, that we might aske of him?
18:7	And the kinge of Israel sayde vnto Iehosaphat: there is yet one man, by whom we maye aske the Lorde. But I hate him: for he neuer prophecieth me good, but alwaye euell, and the same is Michea the sonne of Iimla. And Iehosaphat sayd: let not the kynge saye so.
18:8	And the kinge of Israell called one of his chamberlaynes, and sayde: fetch hether quyckly Michea the sonne of Iimla.
18:9	And the kynge of Israel and Iehosaphat kyng of Iuda sate ether of them on his seate in their apparell, in a thresshing floure beside the gate of Samaria, and all the prophetes prophesyed before them.
18:10	And one Zedekia the sonne of Chanana had made hym hornes of yron, & sayd: thus sayth the Lorde: with these shallt thou ouerthorowe Siria, vntyll they be brought to naught.
18:11	And all the prophetes prophesyed euen so, sayinge: Go vp to Ramoth in Gilead, and it shall prospere with the: for the Lord shall delyuer it into the hande of the kynge.
18:12	And the messenger that went to call Michea, spake to him, saying: beholde, the wordes of the prophetes speake good to the kyng with one assent, lett thy wordes therfore be lyke one of theirs, that thou speake that which is pleasaunt.
18:13	And Michea sayd: as truly as the Lorde liueth: euen what my God sayth that wyll I speake.
18:14	And whan he was come to the kynge, the kynge sayde vnto hym: Michea, shuld we go to Ramoth in Gilead to fight, or leaue of? And he sayde: go vp, & all shalbe well: & they shalbe delyuered into your hande.
18:15	And the kyng sayde to him: So & so may tymes do I charge the, that thou saye nothynge but the trueth to me, in the name of the Lorde.
18:16	Then he sayde: I dyd se all them of Israel scatered in the mountaynes, as shepe that haue no shepherde. And the Lord sayde: these haue no master, let then returne euery man therfore to hys house in peace.
18:17	And the kynge of Israel sayd to Iehosaphat: dyd I not tell the, that he wold not prophecy good vnto me: but euell.
18:18	But he sayde agayne: therfore heare ye the worde of the Lorde. I sawe the Lorde syt vpon his seate, & all the company of heauen stode on hys ryght hande & on hys lefte.
18:19	And the Lorde sayde: who shall deceaue Ahab king of Israel, that he maye go vp & be ouerthrowen at Ramoth in Gilead? And he sayde: oue sayth this, another that.
18:20	And there came out a sprete & stode before the Lorde, & sayde: I wyll deceaue him. And the Lorde sayde vnto him: Wherin?
18:21	And he sayd: I will go out, & be a lyinge sprete in the mouth of all his prophetes. And the Lorde sayde: thou shalt deceaue him, and shalt preuayle: go out, and do euen so.
18:22	And now therfore beholde, the Lord hath put a lyinge sprete in the mouthes of all these thy prophetes, & the Lorde hath spoken euell agaynst the.
18:23	And Zedekia the sonne of Chanana went to, & smote Michea vpon the cheke. & sayde: by what waye went the sprete of the Lorde from me, to speake wt the?
18:24	And Michea sayde: thou shalt se the daye when thou shalt go in from chambre to chambre, for to hyde thy selfe.
18:25	And the kinge of Israel sayde take ye Michea, and brynge hym to Amon the gouerner of the citye, & to Ioas the kinges sonne,
18:26	& ye shall saye: thus sayth the kynge: putt thys felowe in the preson house, & fede hym wt breed of affliction & water of trouble vntill I come agayne in peace.
18:27	And Michea sayde: yf thou come agayne in peace, then hath not the Lorde spoken to me. And he sayde: herken to, ye people euery one of you.
18:28	And so the kinge of Israel and Iehosaphat the kinge of Iuda went vp to Ramoth in Gilead.
18:29	And the kyng of Israel sayde vnto Iehosaphat: I must chaunge me, when I go to the batatyll: but se that thou haue thyne awne apparell vpon the. And the kynge of Israel chaunged hym selfe, and they came to battayll.
18:30	But the kyng of Siria had commaunded the captaynes of the charrettes that were with him, sayinge: se that ye fight not agaynst small or greate, saue agaynst the kynge of Israel onely.
18:31	And when the captaynes of the charettes sawe Iehosaphat, they sayde: it is the kynge of Israel, and therfore they compassed about hym to fyght. But Iehosaphat cryed out, & the Lorde helped him, and God chased them awaye from hym.
18:32	For it came to passe that when the captaynes of the charretes perceaued that it was not the kyng of Israel, they turned backe agayne from him.
18:33	And a certayn man drewe a bowe with all hys myght, and smote the kyng of Israel betwene the ioyntes of his habergyn. And he sayd to hys charretman: turne thyne hande, that thou mayest cary me out of the hoost: for I am wounded.
18:34	And the battayll ceassed that daye. Howbeit the king of Israel caused his charet to stond still agaynst the Sirians vntyll euen. And about the tyme of the sunne going downe, he dyed.
