2 Chronicles - Chapter: 29


29:1	Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.
29:2	And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.
29:3	He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.
29:4	And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,
29:5	And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.
29:6	For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned their backs.
29:7	Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.
29:8	Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.
29:9	For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
29:10	Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.
29:11	My sons, be not now negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.
29:12	Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites: and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: and of the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah:
29:13	And of the sons of Elizaphan; Shimri, and Jeiel: and of the sons of Asaph; Zechariah, and Mattaniah:
29:14	And of the sons of Heman; Jehiel, and Shimei: and of the sons of Jeduthun; Shemaiah, and Uzziel.
29:15	And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the house of the LORD.
29:16	And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron.
29:17	Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the house of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
29:18	Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.
29:19	Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.
29:20	Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD.
29:21	And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD.
29:22	So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.
29:23	And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:
29:24	And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.
29:25	And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.
29:26	And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
29:27	And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.
29:28	And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.
29:29	And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.
29:30	Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.
29:31	Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.
29:32	And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD.
29:33	And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.
29:34	But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.
29:35	And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.
29:36	And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.


29:1	יחזקיהו מלך בן עשׂרים וחמשׁ שׁנה ועשׂרים ותשׁע שׁנה מלך בירושׁלם ושׁם אמו אביה בת זכריהו׃
29:2	ויעשׂ הישׁר בעיני יהוה ככל אשׁר עשׂה דויד אביו׃
29:3	הוא בשׁנה הראשׁונה למלכו בחדשׁ הראשׁון פתח את דלתות בית יהוה ויחזקם׃
29:4	ויבא את הכהנים ואת הלוים ויאספם לרחוב המזרח׃
29:5	ויאמר להם שׁמעוני הלוים עתה התקדשׁו וקדשׁו את בית יהוה אלהי אבתיכם והוציאו את הנדה מן הקדשׁ׃
29:6	כי מעלו אבתינו ועשׂו הרע בעיני יהוה אלהינו ויעזבהו ויסבו פניהם ממשׁכן יהוה ויתנו ערף׃
29:7	גם סגרו דלתות האולם ויכבו את הנרות וקטרת לא הקטירו ועלה לא העלו בקדשׁ לאלהי ישׂראל׃
29:8	ויהי קצף יהוה על יהודה וירושׁלם ויתנם לזועה לשׁמה ולשׁרקה כאשׁר אתם ראים בעיניכם׃
29:9	והנה נפלו אבותינו בחרב ובנינו ובנותינו ונשׁינו בשׁבי על זאת׃
29:10	עתה עם לבבי לכרות ברית ליהוה אלהי ישׂראל וישׁב ממנו חרון אפו׃
29:11	בני עתה אל תשׁלו כי בכם בחר יהוה לעמד לפניו לשׁרתו ולהיות לו משׁרתים ומקטרים׃
29:12	ויקמו הלוים מחת בן עמשׂי ויואל בן עזריהו מן בני הקהתי ומן בני מררי קישׁ בן עבדי ועזריהו בן יהללאל ומן הגרשׁני יואח בן זמה ועדן בן יואח׃
29:13	ומן בני אליצפן שׁמרי ויעואל ומן בני אסף זכריהו ומתניהו׃
29:14	ומן בני הימן יחואל ושׁמעי ומן בני ידותון שׁמעיה ועזיאל׃
29:15	ויאספו את אחיהם ויתקדשׁו ויבאו כמצות המלך בדברי יהוה לטהר בית יהוה׃
29:16	ויבאו הכהנים לפנימה בית יהוה לטהר ויוציאו את כל הטמאה אשׁר מצאו בהיכל יהוה לחצר בית יהוה ויקבלו הלוים להוציא לנחל קדרון חוצה׃
29:17	ויחלו באחד לחדשׁ הראשׁון לקדשׁ וביום שׁמונה לחדשׁ באו לאולם יהוה ויקדשׁו את בית יהוה לימים שׁמונה וביום שׁשׁה עשׂר לחדשׁ הראשׁון כלו׃
29:18	ויבואו פנימה אל חזקיהו המלך ויאמרו טהרנו את כל בית יהוה את מזבח העולה ואת כל כליו ואת שׁלחן המערכת ואת כל כליו׃
29:19	ואת כל הכלים אשׁר הזניח המלך אחז במלכותו במעלו הכנו והקדשׁנו והנם לפני מזבח יהוה׃
29:20	וישׁכם יחזקיהו המלך ויאסף את שׂרי העיר ויעל בית יהוה׃
29:21	ויביאו פרים שׁבעה ואילים שׁבעה וכבשׂים שׁבעה וצפירי עזים שׁבעה לחטאת על הממלכה ועל המקדשׁ ועל יהודה ויאמר לבני אהרן הכהנים להעלות על מזבח יהוה׃
29:22	וישׁחטו הבקר ויקבלו הכהנים את הדם ויזרקו המזבחה וישׁחטו האלים ויזרקו הדם המזבחה וישׁחטו הכבשׂים ויזרקו הדם המזבחה׃
29:23	ויגישׁו את שׂעירי החטאת לפני המלך והקהל ויסמכו ידיהם עליהם׃
29:24	וישׁחטום הכהנים ויחטאו את דמם המזבחה לכפר על כל ישׂראל כי לכל ישׂראל אמר המלך העולה והחטאת׃
29:25	ויעמד את הלוים בית יהוה במצלתים בנבלים ובכנרות במצות דויד וגד חזה המלך ונתן הנביא כי ביד יהוה המצוה ביד נביאיו׃
29:26	ויעמדו הלוים בכלי דויד והכהנים בחצצרות׃
29:27	ויאמר חזקיהו להעלות העלה להמזבח ובעת החל העולה החל שׁיר יהוה והחצצרות ועל ידי כלי דויד מלך ישׂראל׃
29:28	וכל הקהל משׁתחוים והשׁיר משׁורר והחצצרות מחצצרים הכל עד לכלות העלה׃
29:29	וככלות להעלות כרעו המלך וכל הנמצאים אתו וישׁתחוו׃
29:30	ויאמר יחזקיהו המלך והשׂרים ללוים להלל ליהוה בדברי דויד ואסף החזה ויהללו עד לשׂמחה ויקדו וישׁתחוו׃
29:31	ויען יחזקיהו ויאמר עתה מלאתם ידכם ליהוה גשׁו והביאו זבחים ותודות לבית יהוה ויביאו הקהל זבחים ותודות וכל נדיב לב עלות׃
29:32	ויהי מספר העלה אשׁר הביאו הקהל בקר שׁבעים אילים מאה כבשׂים מאתים לעלה ליהוה כל אלה׃
29:33	והקדשׁים בקר שׁשׁ מאות וצאן שׁלשׁת אלפים׃
29:34	רק הכהנים היו למעט ולא יכלו להפשׁיט את כל העלות ויחזקום אחיהם הלוים עד כלות המלאכה ועד יתקדשׁו הכהנים כי הלוים ישׁרי לבב להתקדשׁ מהכהנים׃
29:35	וגם עלה לרב בחלבי השׁלמים ובנסכים לעלה ותכון עבודת בית יהוה׃
29:36	וישׂמח יחזקיהו וכל העם על ההכין האלהים לעם כי בפתאם היה הדבר׃


29:1	Hezekiah hath reigned -- a son of twenty and five years, and twenty and nine years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother `is' Abijah daughter of Zechariah;
29:2	and he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that David his father did.
29:3	He, in the first year of his reign, in the first month, hath opened the doors of the house of Jehovah, and strengtheneth them,
29:4	and bringeth in the priests and the Levites, and gathereth them to the broad place to the east.
29:5	And he saith to them, `Hear me, O Levites, now, sanctify yourselves, and sanctify the house of Jehovah, God of your fathers, and bring out the impurity from the sanctuary,
29:6	for our fathers have trespassed, and done that which is evil in the eyes of Jehovah our God, and forsake him, and turn round their faces from the tabernacle of Jehovah, and give the neck.
29:7	`Also -- they have shut the doors of the porch, and quench the lamps, and perfume they have not made, and burnt-offering have not caused to ascend in the sanctuary to the God of Israel,
29:8	and the wrath of Jehovah is on Judah and Jerusalem, and He giveth them for a trembling, for an astonishment, and for a hissing, as ye are seeing with your eyes.
29:9	And lo, fallen have our fathers by the sword, and our sons, and our daughters, and our wives `are' in captivity for this.
29:10	`Now -- with my heart -- to make a covenant before Jehovah, God of Israel, and the fierceness of His anger doth turn back from us.
29:11	My sons, be not now at rest, for on you hath Jehovah fixed to stand before Him, to serve Him, and to be to Him ministering and making perfume.'
29:12	And the Levites rise -- Mahath son of Amasai, and Joel son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathite; and of the sons of Merari: Kish son of Abdi, and Azariah son of Jehalelel; and of the Gershonite: Joah son of Zimmah, and Eden son of Joah;
29:13	and of the sons of Elizaphan: Shimri, and Jeiel; and of the sons of Asaph: Zechariah and Mattaniah;
29:14	and of the sons of Heman: Jehiel and Shimei; and of the sons of Jeduthun: Shemaiah and Uzziel --
29:15	and they gather their brethren, and sanctify themselves, and come in, according to the command of the king in the matters of Jehovah, to cleanse the house of Jehovah,
29:16	and the priests come in to the inner part of the house of Jehovah to cleanse `it', and bring out all the uncleanness that they have found in the temple of Jehovah to the court of the house of Jehovah, and the Levites receive `it', to take `it' out to the brook Kidron without.
29:17	And they begin on the first of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month they have come to the porch of Jehovah, and they sanctify the house of Jehovah in eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first month they have finished.
29:18	And they come in within unto Hezekiah the king, and say, `We have cleansed all the house of Jehovah, and the altar of the burnt-offering, and all its vessels, and the table of the arrangement, and all its vessels,
29:19	and all the vessels that king Ahaz cast away in his reign -- in his trespass -- we have prepared and sanctified, and lo, they `are' before the altar of Jehovah.'
29:20	And Hezekiah the king riseth early, and gathereth the heads of the city, and goeth up to the house of Jehovah;
29:21	and they bring in seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven young he-goats, for a sin-offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah; and he saith to sons of Aaron, the priests, to cause `them' to ascend on the altar of Jehovah.
29:22	And they slaughter the oxen, and the priests receive the blood, and sprinkle on the altar; and they slaughter the rams, and sprinkle the blood on the altar; and they slaughter the lambs, and sprinkle the blood on the altar;
29:23	and they bring nigh the he-goats of the sin-offering before the king and the assembly, and they lay their hands upon them;
29:24	and the priests slaughter them, and make a sin-offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Israel, for `For all Israel,' said the king, ``is' the burnt-offering and the sin-offering.'
29:25	And he appointeth the Levites in the house of Jehovah with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, by the command of David, and of Gad, seer of the king, and of Nathan the prophet, for by the hand of Jehovah `is' the command, by the hand of His prophets;
29:26	and the Levites stand with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
29:27	And Hezekiah saith to cause the burnt-offering to ascend on the altar; and at the time the burnt-offering began -- began the song of Jehovah, and the trumpets, even by the hands of the instruments of David king of Israel.
29:28	And all the assembly are doing obeisance, and the singers singing, and the trumpeters blowing; the whole `is' till the completion of the burnt-offering.
29:29	And at the completion of the offering up bowed have the king and all those found with him, and do obeisance.
29:30	And Hezekiah the king saith, and the princes, to the Levites to give praise to Jehovah in the words of David, and of Asaph the seer, and they praise -- unto joy, and they bow, and do obeisance.
29:31	And Hezekiah answereth and saith, `Now ye have filled your hand to Jehovah, come nigh, and bring in sacrifices and thank-offerings to the house of Jehovah;' and the assembly bring in sacrifices and thank-offerings, and every willing-hearted one -- burnt-offerings.
29:32	And the number of the burnt-offerings that the assembly have brought in, is seventy oxen, a hundred rams, lambs two hundred; for a burnt-offering to Jehovah `are' all these.
29:33	And the sanctified things `are' oxen six hundred, and sheep three thousand.
29:34	Only, the priests have become few, and have not been able to strip the whole of the burnt-offerings, and their brethren the Levites strengthen them till the completion of the work, and till the priests sanctify themselves, for the Levites `are' more upright of heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.
29:35	And also, burnt-offerings `are' in abundance, with fat of the peace-offerings, and with oblations for the burnt-offering; and the service of the house of Jehovah is established,
29:36	and rejoice doth Hezekiah and all the people, because of God's giving preparation to the people, for the thing hath been suddenly.
