| 32:2 | And when Hezekiah sawe that Sennacherib was come, and that hee was purposed to fight against Ierusalem, |
| 32:3 | He tooke counsel with his princes, and his mightie men, to stop the waters of the fountaines, which were without the citie: and they did helpe him. |
| 32:4 | So there was gathered much people together, who stopt all the fountaines, and the brooke that ranne through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and finde much water? |
| 32:5 | Also he strengthened himselfe, and built vp all the wall that was broken, and raised it vp to the towers, and another wall without, and prepared Millo in the citie of Dauid, and made darts and shields in abundance. |
| 32:6 | And hee set captaines of warre ouer the people, and gathered them together to him in the streete of the gate of the city, and spake comfortably to them, saying; |
| 32:7 | Be strong and couragious, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there bee moe with vs, then with him. |

| 32:9 | After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria send his seruants to Ierusalem (but he himselfe laide siege against Lachish, and all his power with him) vnto Hezekiah king of Iudah, and vnto all Iudah that were at Ierusalem, saying; |
| 32:10 | Thus sayth Semacherib king of Assyria, Whereon doe ye trust, that yee abide in the siege in Ierusalem? |
| 32:11 | Doeth not Hezekiah perswade you to giue ouer your selues to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The Lord our God shall deliuer vs out of the hand of the king of Assyria? |
| 32:12 | Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his high places, and his altars, and commanded Iudah and Ierusalem, saying; Yee shall worship before one altar, & burne incense vpon it? |
| 32:13 | Know ye not what I and my fathers haue done vnto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the nations of those landes any wayes able to deliuer their lands out of mine hand? |
| 32:14 | Who was there among all the gods of those nations, that my fathers vtterly destroyed, that could deliuer his people out of mine hand, that your God should bee able to deliuer you out of mine hand? |
| 32:15 | Now therefore let not Hezekiah deceiue you, nor perswade you on this manner, neither yet beleeue him: for no god of any nation or kingdome was able to deliuer his people out of mine hand, & out of the hand of my fathers: how much lesse shall your God deliuer you out of mine hand? |
| 32:16 | And his seruants spake yet more against the Lord God, and against his seruant Hezekiah. |
| 32:17 | Hee wrote also letters to raile on the Lord God of Israel, & to speake against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands haue not deliuered their people out of mine hand: so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliuer his people out of mine hand. |
| 32:18 | Then they cryed with a loude voice in the Iewes speech vnto the people of Ierusalem that were on the wal, to affright them, and to trouble them, that they might take the city. |
| 32:19 | And they spake against the God of Ierusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth which were the worke of the hands of man. |
| 32:20 | For this cause Hezekiah the king, and the Prophet Isaiah the sonne of Amoz, prayed and cryed to heauen. |
| 32:21 | And the Lord sent an Angel, which cut off all the mightie men of valour, and the leaders and captains in the campe of the king of Assyria: so hee returned with shame of face to his owne land. And when hee was come into the house of his god, they that came foorth of his owne bowels, slew him there with the sword. |
| 32:22 | Thus the Lord saued Hezekiah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem, from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on euery side. |
| 32:23 | And many brought gifts vnto the Lord to Ierusalem, and presents to Hezekiah king of Iudah: so that hee was magnified in the sight of all nations, from thenceforth. |
| 32:24 | In those dayes Hezekiah was sicke to the death, and prayed vnto the Lord: and he spake vnto him, and he gaue him a signe. |
| 32:25 | But Hezekiah rendred not againe, according to the benefit done vnto him: for his heart was lifted vp, therefore there was wrath vpon him, and vpon Iudah and Ierusalem. |
| 32:26 | Notwithstanding, Hezekiah humbled himselfe for the pride of his heart, (both hee and the inhabitants of Ierusalem) so that the wrath of the Lord came not vpon them in the dayes of Hezekiah. |
| 32:27 | And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches, and honour: and he made himselfe treasuries for siluer, and for golde, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all maner of pleasant iewels; |
| 32:28 | Store-houses also for the increase of corne, and wine and oile; and stalles for all maner of beasts, and coates for flocks. |
| 32:29 | Moreouer, hee prouided him cities, and possessions of flockes & heards in abundance: for God had giuen him substance very much. |
| 32:30 | This same Hezekiah also stopped the vpper water-course of Gihon, and brought it straight downe to the Westside of the City of Dauid. And Hezekiah prospered in all his workes. |
| 32:31 | Howbeit, in the businesse of the Embassadours of the Princes of Babylon, who sent vnto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart. |
| 32:32 | Now, the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodnesse, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the Prophet, the sonne of Amoz, and in the booke of the kings of Iudah and Israel. |
| 32:33 | And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the chiefest of the Sepulchres of the sonnes of Dauid: and all Iudah and the inhabitants of Ierusalem did him honour at his death: and Manasseh his sonne reigned in his stead. |
| 32:1 | After these things faithfully described, Saneherib King of Asshur came and entred into Iudah, and besieged the strong cities, and thought to winne them for him selfe. |
| 32:2 | When Hezekiah sawe that Saneherib was come, and that his purpose was to fight against Ierusalem, |
| 32:3 | Then he tooke counsell with his princes and his nobles, to stoppe the water of the fountaines without the citie: and they did helpe him. |
| 32:4 | So many of the people assembled themselues, and stopt all the fountaines, and the riuer that ranne through the middes of the countrey, saying, Why should the Kings of Asshur come, and finde much water? |
| 32:5 | And he tooke courage, and built all the broken wall, and made vp the towers, and another wall without, and repayred Millo in the citie of Dauid, and made many dartes and shields. |
| 32:6 | And he set captaines of warre ouer the people, and assembled them to him in the broade place of the gate of the citie, and spake comfortably vnto them, saying, |
| 32:7 | Be strong and couragious: feare not, neither be afraide for the King of Asshur, neither for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with vs, then is with him. |
| 32:8 | With him is an arme of flesh, but with vs is the Lord our God for to helpe vs, and to fight our battels. Then the people were confirmed by the wordes of Hezekiah King of Iudah. |
| 32:9 | After this, did Saneherib King of Asshur send his seruants to Ierusalem (while he was against Lachish, and all his dominion with him) vnto Hezekiah King of Iudah and vnto all Iudah that were at Ierusalem, saying, |
| 32:10 | Thus saith Saneherib the King of Asshur, Wherein doe ye trust, that ye will remaine in Ierusalem, during the siege? |
| 32:11 | Doeth not Hezekiah entice you to giue ouer your selues vnto death by famine and by thirst, saying, The Lord our God shall deliuer vs out of the hande of the King of Asshur? |
| 32:12 | Hath not the same Hezekiah taken away his hie places and his altars, and commanded Iudah and Ierusalem, saying, Ye shall worshippe before one altar, and burne incense vpon it? |
| 32:13 | Knowe ye not what I and my fathers haue done vnto all the people of other countreyes? were the gods of the nations of other landes able to deliuer their land out of mine hande? |
| 32:14 | Who is he of al the gods of those natios (that my fathers haue destroied) that could deliuer his people out of mine hande? that your God should be able to deliuer you out of mine hand? |
| 32:15 | Nowe therefore let not Hezekiah deceiue you, nor seduce you after this sort, neither beleeue ye him: for none of all the gods of any nation or kingdome was able to deliuer his people out of mine hande and out of the hande of my fathers: howe much lesse shall your gods deliuer you out of mine hande? |
| 32:16 | And his seruants spake yet more against the Lord God, and against his seruant Hezekiah. |
| 32:17 | He wrote also letters, blaspheming the Lord God of Israel and speaking against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other countreies could not deliuer their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliuer his people out of mine hande. |
| 32:18 | Then they cryed with a loude voyce in the Iewes speach vnto the people of Ierusalem that were on the wall, to feare them and to astonish them, that they might take the citie. |
| 32:19 | Thus they spake against the God of Ierusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, euen the workes of mans hands, |
| 32:20 | But Hezekiah the King, and the Prophet Isaiah the sonne of Amoz prayed against this and cryed to heauen. |
| 32:21 | And the Lord sent an Angel which destroyed all the valiant men, and the princes and captaines of the hoste of the King of Asshur: so he returned with shame to his owne lande. And when he was come into the house of his god, they that came foorth of his owne bowels, slewe him there with the sworde. |
| 32:22 | So the Lord saued Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Ierusalem from the hande of Saneherib King of Asshur, and from the hande of all other, and maintained them on euery side. |
| 32:23 | And many brought offrings vnto the Lord to Ierusalem, and presents to Hezekiah King of Iudah, so that he was magnified in the sight of all nations from thencefoorth. |
| 32:24 | In those dayes Hezekiah was sicke vnto the death, and prayed vnto the Lord, who spake vnto him, and gaue him a signe. |
| 32:25 | But Hezekiah did not render according to the rewarde bestowed vpon him: for his heart was lift vp, and wrath came vpon him, and vpon Iudah and Ierusalem. |
| 32:26 | Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled him selfe (after that his heart was lifted vp) he and the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and the wrath of the Lord came not vpon them in the dayes of Hezekiah. |
| 32:27 | Hezekiah also had exceeding much riches and honour, and he gate him treasures of siluer, and of golde, and of precious stones, and of sweete odours, and of shieldes, and of all pleasant vessels: |
| 32:28 | And of store houses for the increase of wheat and wine and oyle, and stalles for all beasts, and rowes for the stables. |
| 32:29 | And he made him cities, and had possession of sheepe and oxen in abundance: for God had giuen him substance exceeding much. |
| 32:30 | This same Hezekiah also stopped the vpper water springs of Gihon, and led them streight vnderneath towarde the citie of Dauid Westwarde. so Hezekiah prospered in all his workes. |
| 32:31 | But because of the ambassadours of the princes of Babel, which sent vnto him to enquire of the wonder that was done in the lande, God left him to trie him, and to knowe all that was in his heart. |
| 32:32 | Concerning the rest of the actes of Hezekiah, and his goodnesse, beholde, they are written in the vision of Ishiah the Prophet, the sonne of Amoz, in the booke of the Kings of Iudah and Israel. |
| 32:33 | So Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buryed him in the highest sepulchre of the sonnes of Dauid: and all Iudah and the inhabitants of Ierusalem did him honour at his death: and Manasseh his sonne reigned in his stead. |
| 32:1 | After that these deades were faythfully done Sennacherib kynge of Assur came, & entred into Iuda, & compased the stronge cyties, and thought to winne them for him selfe. |
| 32:2 | And so when Hezekia sawe that Sennacherib was come, & that he was purposed to fyght agaynst Ierusalem, |
| 32:3 | he toke councel with his Lordes, and men of myght to stop the water of the fountaynes without the cytie: & they dyd helpe him. |
| 32:4 | For ther gathered many of the people together, & stopte al the welles, and the broke that ranne thorow the myddes of the lande, sayenge: why shall the kynges of Assur come, and fynde moch water? |
| 32:5 | And Hezekia went to lustelye, and built vp all the wal where it was broken, & made ordinaunce vpon the towres and to the other wall without, and repayred Myllo in the cytie of Dauid, and made many dartes and shyldes. |
| 32:6 | And he sett captaynes of warre ouer the people, and gathered them together to hym in the large strete of the gate of the cytie, and spake ientely to them, saying: |
| 32:7 | Plucke vp yor hertes, and be strong: Be not afraied ner discouraged for the kyng of Assur, and for all the multitude that he hath with him: for there be moo with vs then with him. |
| 32:8 | With him is an arme of flesh. But with vs is the Lorde oure God, for to helpe vs, and to fyght oure batayles. And the people toke a courage thorow the wordes of Hezekia kyng of Iuda. |
| 32:9 | After thys dyd Sennacherib kynge of Assur send of hys seruauntes to Ierusalem, (but he hym selfe remayned besyde Lachis: hauyng all his power with him) vnto Hezekia kyng of Iuda and vnto all Iuda that were at Ierusalem, sayenge: |
| 32:10 | Thus sayeth Sennacherib kyng of Assur: wherin do ye trust, O ye that dwell in Ierusalem which is beseged? |
| 32:11 | Doth not Hezekia entyce you to geue ouer youre selues vnto deeth, hongre, and thurst, sayeng: the Lorde our God shall ridd vs oute of the hande of the kynge of Assur? |
| 32:12 | Hath not the same Hezekia put downe hys hye places and hys aulters, and commaunded Iuda and Ierusalem, sayinge: Ye shall worshyppe before one aulter, and burne incense vpon the same? |
| 32:13 | Know ye not, what I and my fathers haue done vnto the people of all landes? were the Gods of the people of otherlandes able or mighty to saue their landes out of my hand? |
| 32:14 | which of all the Gods of those nacions (that my fathers destroyed) coulde delyuer hys people out of myne hand? And shall yor God be able to delyuer you out of myne hande? |
| 32:15 | Wherfore, nowe lett not Hezekia deceaue you, ner persuade you of this facion, nor yet beleue him. For as no God among all nacions and kingdomes, was able to rydde hys people out of my hande and out the hande of my fathers: How moch lesse shall your goddes be able to kepe you out of myne hand? |
| 32:16 | And yet mo thinges dyd his seruauntes speake against the Lord God, and agaynst his seruaunt Hezekia. |
| 32:17 | And (Sennacherib) also wrote a letter, to rayle on the Lord God of Israell, & spake agaynst him, sayinge: as the Gods of the nacyons of other landes haue not bene able to delyuer their people out of myne hande. Euen so shal not the God of Hezekia delyuer hys people out of myne hand. |
| 32:18 | And they cryed wt a loude voyce in the Iewes speach vnto the people of Ierusalem that were on the wall, to feare them and to make them faynt harted, & that they might so take the cyte. |
| 32:19 | And they spake against the God of Ierusalem, as against the Gods of the nacyons of the earth, which were the worckes of the handes of men. |
| 32:20 | But Hezekia the kynge, and the prophet Isai the sonne of Amoz prayed agaynst that blasphemy, and cryed vp to heauen. |
| 32:21 | And the Lord sent an angell, which destroyed all the men of warre and the Lordes and captaynes of the hoost of the kyng of Assur, that he turned his face agayne wt shame toward hys awne land. And when he was come into the house of his God, they that came of hys awne body, slue hym there with the sweard. |
| 32:22 | And so the Lord saued Hezekia and the inhabiters of Ierusalem out of the hand of Sennacherib king of Assur, and from the hand of all other, and mayntened them on euery syde. |
| 32:23 | And many brought offerynges vnto the Lord to Ierusalem, and presentes to Hezekia king of Iuda: so that he was magnifyed in the syght of all nacions from thence forth. |
| 32:24 | In those dayes Hezekia was sycke vnto the death, & prayed vnto the Lord, which answered him, & shewed hym a wonderfull miracle. |
| 32:25 | But Hezekia dyd not agayne vnto God acording to it that he had shewed hym, for his hert arose: & there came wrath vpon him and vpon Iuda & Ierusalem. |
| 32:26 | Notwithstanding Hezekia submitted hym self (after that hys hert was rysen vp) he, & the inhabyters of Ierusalem: and the wrath of the Lord came not vpon them in the dayes of Hezekia. |
| 32:27 | And Hezekia had exceadynge moche ryches and honour. And he gat hym treasures of syluer and golde, precious stones, and spices, shyldes, and of all maner pleasaunt Iuelles: |
| 32:28 | and made store houses for the frutes of corne, for wyne and oyle: and stalles for all maner of beastes, and foldes for shepe. |
| 32:29 | And he made him cyties, and had of shepe and oxen great aboundance. For God had geuen him substaunce exceadinge moch. |
| 32:30 | This same Hezekia stopped the vpper water sprynges of Gihon, and brought them downe to the west syde of the cyte of Dauid. And Hezekia prospered in all hys worckes. |
| 32:31 | And when the prynces of Babylon sent vnto him Ambassatoures, to enquyre of the wondre that chaunced in the lande, God left hym to trye hym, and that all that was in hys hert, myght be knowne. |
| 32:32 | The rest of the dedes of Hezekia, and hys goodnes, behold, they are wryten in the vysyon of Isai the prophete the sonne of Amoz in the boke of the kinges of Iuda and Israell. |
| 32:33 | And Hezekia slepte with his fathers, & they buryed hym in the most worthy place of the sepulchres of the sonnes of Dauid: and all Iuda and the enhabiters of Ierusalem dyd hym worshyppe at his death. And Manasse hys sonne raygned in his steade. |
