| 10:1 | It greueth my soule to lyue. I wyl make my complaynte, and wyll speake out of the very heuynesse of my soule. |
| 10:2 | I wyll saye vnto God: O do not condempne me, but shewe me the cause, wherfore thou contendest so with me? |
| 10:3 | Thinckest thou it well done, to oppresse me, to cast me of (beynge the worckes of thy handes) and to mainteyne the councel of the vngodly? |
| 10:4 | Hast thou fleshy eyes: or doest thou loke as a man loketh? |
| 10:5 | Or are thy dayes as the dayes of man, and thy yeares as mans yeares? |
| 10:6 | that thou makest soch inquisicyon for my wickednes, & searchest out my synne? |
| 10:7 | where as (not withstandinge) thou knowest that I am no wycked person, and that there is no man able to delyuer me out of thyne hande. |
| 10:8 | Thy handes haue made me, and fasshioned me all together rounde aboute, wilt thou then destroye me sodenly? |
| 10:9 | O remembre (I beseke the) how that thou madest me of the moulde of the erth, & shalt bringe me into dust agayne. |
| 10:10 | Hast thou not turned me, as it were mylck, and turned me to cruddes lyke chese? |
| 10:11 | Thou hast couered me with skynne and fleshe, and ioyned me together with bones and synnewes. |
| 10:12 | Thou hast graunted my life, and done me good: and the diligent hede that thou tokest vpon me, hath preserued my sprete. |
| 10:13 | Thou hast hyd these thynges in thyne hert. I am sure, that thou remembrest thys thynge. |
| 10:14 | If I dyd synne, thou haddest an eye vnto me, and shalt not declare me innocent because of myne offence. |
| 10:15 | Yf I haue done wickedly, wo is me therfore. Yf I haue done righteously, yet darre I not lift vp my hede: so full am I of confusion, and se myne awne misery. |
| 10:16 | Thou huntest me out (being in heuynes) as it were a lyon, & troublest me out of measure. |
| 10:17 | Thou bryngest fresh wytnesse agaynst me, and thy wrath increasest thou vpon me, very many are the plages that I am in. |
| 10:18 | Wherfore hast thou brought me oute of my mothers wombe? O that I had perisshed, and that no eye had sene me. |
| 10:19 | Yf they had caryed me to my graue assone as I was borne, then shuld I be now, as though I had neuer bene |
| 10:20 | Are not my dayes feawe? Lett hym then leaue of fro me and let me alone, that I may ease my selfe a lytle |
| 10:21 | afore I go thyther, from whence I shall not turne agayne: euen to the lande of darcknesse and shadowe of death: |
| 10:22 | yee, into that darck clowdy land and deadly shadowe, where as is no ordre, but terrible feare as in the darcknesse. |
| 10:1 | Yt anoieth my soule of my lijf; Y schal lete my speche ayens me, Y schal speke in the bitternesse of my soule. |
| 10:2 | Y schal seie to God, Nyle thou condempne me; schewe thou to me, whi thou demest me so. |
| 10:3 | Whether it semeth good to thee, if thou `falsli chalengist and oppressist me, the werk of thin hondis; and if thou helpist the counsel of wickid men? |
| 10:4 | Whethir fleischli iyen ben to thee, ethir, as a man seeth, also thou schalt se? |
| 10:5 | Whether thi daies ben as the daies of man, and `thi yeeris ben as mannus tymes; |
| 10:6 | that thou enquere my wickidnesse, and enserche my synne? |
| 10:7 | And wite, that Y haue do no `wickid thing; sithen no man is, that may delyuere fro thin hond? |
| 10:8 | Thin hondis han maad me, and han formed me al in cumpas; and thou castist me doun so sodeynli. |
| 10:9 | Y preye, haue thou mynde, that thou madist me as cley, and schalt brynge me ayen in to dust. |
| 10:10 | Whether thou hast not mylkid me as mylk, and hast cruddid me togidere as cheese? |
| 10:11 | Thou clothidist me with skyn and fleisch; thou hast ioyned me togidere with boonys and senewis. |
| 10:12 | Thou hast youe lijf and mercy to me, and thi visiting hath kept my spirit. |
| 10:13 | Thouy thou helist these thingis in thin herte, netheles Y woot, that thou hast mynde of alle thingis. |
| 10:14 | If Y dide synne, and thou sparidist me at an our; whi suffrist thou not me to be cleene of my wickidnesse? |
| 10:15 | And if Y was wickid, wo is to me; and if Y was iust, Y fillid with turment and wretchidnesse `schal not reise the heed. |
| 10:16 | And if Y reise `the heed for pride, thou schalt take me as a lionesse; and thou turnest ayen, and turmentist me wondirli. |
| 10:17 | Thou gaderist in store thi witnessis ayens me, and thou multipliest thin yre, `that is, veniaunce, ayens me; and peynes holden knyythod in me. |
| 10:18 | Whi hast thou led me out of the wombe? `And Y wolde, that Y were wastid, lest an iye `schulde se me. |
| 10:19 | That Y hadde be, as if Y were not, and `were translatid, ethir borun ouer, fro the wombe to the sepulcre. |
| 10:20 | Whether the fewnesse of my daies schal not be endid in schort? Therfor suffre thou me, that Y biweile `a litil my sorewe, |
| 10:21 | bifor that Y go, and turne not ayen, to the derk lond, and hilid with the derknesse of deth, to the lond of wrecchidnesse and of derknessis; |
| 10:22 | where is schadewe of deeth, and noon ordre, but euerlastynge hidousnesse dwellith. |

| 10:13 | Though thou hydest these thinges in thine hert, yet am I sure, that thou remembrest the all. |
| 10:14 | Wherfore didest thou kepe me, when I synned, and hast not clensed me fro myne offence? |
| 10:15 | Yf I do wickedly, wo is me therfore: Yf I be rightuous, yet darre I not lift vp my heade: so full am I of confucion, and se myne owne misery. |
| 10:16 | Thou huntest me out (beynge in heuynesse) as it were a Lyon, and troublest me out of measure. |
| 10:17 | Thou bringest fresh witnesses agaynst me, thy wrath increasest thou vpon me, very many are the plages that I am in. |

| 10:20 | Shall not my short life come soone to an ende? O holde the fro me, let me alone, that I maye ease myself a litle: |
| 10:21 | afore I go thyther, from whence I shal not turne agayne: Namely, to that londe of darcknesse & shadowe of death: |
| 10:22 | yee into that darck clowdy londe & deadly shadowe, where as is no ordre, but terrible feare as in the darcknesse. |
