>
12:1So Iob answered, and sayd:
12:2Then (no doute) ye are the men alone, & wysdome shall perysh with you.
12:3But I haue vnderstandyng as wel as ye, and am no lesse then ye. Yee, who knoweth not these thynges?
12:4Thus he that calleth vpon God, and whom God heareth, is mocked of hys neyghboure: the godly and innocent man is laughed to scorne.
12:5Godlynes is a lyght despysed in the hertes of the ryche, and is set for them to stomble vpon.
12:6The houses of robers are in wealth & prosperite: and they that malyciously medle agaynst God, dwell without care, in those thynges that God hath geuen rychely with hys hande.
12:7Aske the catell, and they shall infourme the: the foules of the ayre, and they shall tell the.
12:8Or the increace of the earth, and it shall shewe the. Or the fysshers of the see, and they shall certifye the.
12:9What is he, but he knoweth that the hande of the Lorde made all these?
12:10In whose hande is the soule of euery liuyng thynge, and the breth of the flesh of all men.
12:11Haue not the eares pleasure in hering, and and the mouth in tastynge the thynge that it eateth?
12:12Amonge olde personnes there is wisdome, and in age is vnderstandyng.
12:13Yee, with God is wysdome and strength, it is he that hath councell and forknowledge.
12:14Beholde, If he breake downe a thyng, who can set it vp agayne? If he shut a thynge, who will open it?
12:15Behold, yf he witholde the waters, they drye vp. If he let them go, they destroye the erth.
12:16With him is strength & wysdome: he knoweth both the disceauer & hym that is disceaued.
12:17He carieth awaye the wyse men, as it were a spoyle, and bryngeth the iudges oute of theyr wittes.
12:18He taketh awaye the subieccion of the people from their kinges, and gyrdeth theyr loynes with a bonde.
12:19He ledeth awaye the greate men into captiuyte, and turneth the mightye vpsyde downe.
12:20He taketh the veryte from out of the mouth, and disapointeth the aged of theyr reason.
12:21He poureth the confusion vpon prynces, and comforteth them that haue bene oppressed.
12:22Loke what lyeth hyd in darcknes, he declareth it openly: and the very shadowe of death bryngeth he to lyght.
12:23He both increaseth the people, and destroyeth them. He maketh them to multyplye, and dryueth them awaye.
12:24He chaungeth the herte of them that rule the people of the earthe, and disapoynteth them: so that they go wandrynge out of the waye,
12:25and grope in the darcke without lyght: he maketh them also to stacker to and fro lyke droncken men.

12:1Sotheli Joob answeride, and seide,
12:2Therfor ben ye men aloone, that wisdom dwelle with you?
12:3And to me is an herte, as and to you, and Y am not lowere than ye; for who knowith not these thingis, whiche ye knowen?
12:4He that is scorned of his frend, as Y am, schal inwardli clepe God, and God schal here hym; for the symplenesse of a iust man is scorned.
12:5A laumpe is dispisid at the thouytis of riche men, and the laumpe is maad redi to a tyme ordeyned.
12:6The tabernaclis of robberis ben plenteuouse, `ether ful of goodis; and boldli thei terren God to wraththe, whanne he hath youe alle thingis in to her hondis.
12:7No wondur, ax thou beestis, and tho schulen teche thee; and axe thou volatilis of the eir, and tho schulen schewe to thee.
12:8Speke thou to the erthe, and it schal answere thee; and the fischis of the see schulen telle tho thingis.
12:9Who knowith not that the hond of the Lord made alle these thingis?
12:10In whos hond the soule is of ech lyuynge thing, and the spirit, `that is, resonable soule, of ech fleisch of man.
12:11Whether the eere demeth not wordis, and the chekis of the etere demen sauour?
12:12Wisdom is in elde men, and prudence is in myche tyme.
12:13Wisdom and strengthe is at God; he hath counsel and vndurstondyng.
12:14If he distrieth, no man is that bildith; if he schittith in a man, `noon is that openith.
12:15If he holdith togidere watris, alle thingis schulen be maad drie; if he sendith out tho watris, tho schulen distrie the erthe.
12:16Strengthe and wisdom is at God; he knowith bothe hym that disseyueth and hym that is disseyued.
12:17And he bryngith conselours in to a fonned eende, and iugis in to wondryng, ethir astonying.
12:18He vnbindith the girdil of kyngis, and girdith her reynes with a coorde.
12:19He ledith her prestis with out glorie, and he disseyueth the principal men, `ethir counselours;
12:20and he chaungith the lippis of sothefast men, and takith awei the doctrine of elde men.
12:21He schedith out dispisyng on princes, and releeueth hem, that weren oppressid.
12:22Which schewith depe thingis fro derknessis; and bryngith forth in to liyt the schadewe of deeth.
12:23Which multiplieth folkis, and leesith hem, and restorith hem destried in to the hool.
12:24Which chaungith the herte of princes of the puple of erthe; and disseyueth hem, that thei go in veyn out of the weie.
12:25Thei schulen grope, as in derknessis, and not in liyt; and he schal make hem to erre as drunken men.

12:1So Iob answered, and sayde:
12:2Then (no doute) ye are the men alone, and wy?dome shal perish with you.
12:3But I haue vnderstodinge as well as ye, and am no lesse then ye. Yee who knoweth not these thinges?
12:4Thus he that calleth vpo God, and whom God heareth, is mocked of his neghboure: the godly & innocent man is laughed to scorne.
12:5Godlynesse is a light despysed in ye hertes of the rich, & is set for them to stomble vpon.
12:6The houses of robbers are in wealth and prosperite, & they that maliciously medle agaynst God, dwel without care: yee God geueth all thinges richely with his honde.
12:7Axe the catell, & they shal enfourme the: the foules of the ayre, and they shall tell ye:

12:9What is he, but he knoweth, that ye hode of the LORDE made all these?
12:10In whose honde is the soule of euery lyuynge thinge, and the breth of all men.
12:11Haue not the eares pleasure in hearinge, and the mouth in tastinge the thinge that it eateth?
12:12Amonge olde personnes there is wy?dome, and amonge the aged is vnderstodinge.
12:13Yee with God is wy?dome and strength, it is he that hath councell & foreknowlege.
12:14Yf he breake downe a thinge, who can set it vp agayne? Yf he shutt a thinge, who wil open it?
12:15Beholde, yf he witholde the waters, they drye vp: Yf he let the go, they destroye the earth.
12:16With him is strength and wy?dome: he knoweth both the disceauer, and him that is disceaued.
12:17He carieth awaye the wyse men, as it were a spoyle, and bryngeth the iudges out of their wyttes.
12:18He lowseth the gyrdle of kynges, and gyrdeth their loynes with a bonde.
12:19he ledeth awaye the prestes into captiuyte, and turneth the mightie vp syde downe.
12:20He taketh the verite from out of the mouth, & disapoynteth ye aged of their wy?dome.
12:21He poureth out confucion vpon prynces, and coforteth them that haue bene oppressed.
12:22Loke what lyeth hyd in darcknesse, he declareth it opely: and the very shadowe of death bringeth he to light.
12:23He both increaseth the people, and destroyeth them: He maketh them to multiplie, and dryueth them awaye.
12:24He chaungeth the herte of the prynces and kynges of the earth, and disapoynteth them: so that they go wadringe out of the waye,
12:25and grope in the darke without light, stackeringe to and fro like droncken men.
