>
13:1Lo! myn iye siy alle thingis, and myn eere herde; and Y vndurstood alle thingis.
13:2Euene with youre kunnyng also Y kan, and Y am not lowere than ye.
13:3But netheles Y schal speke to Almyyti God, and Y coueite to dispute with God;
13:4and firste Y schewe you makeris of leesyng, and louyeris of weyward techyngis.
13:5And `Y wolde that ye weren stille, that ye weren gessid to be wise men.
13:6Therfor here ye my chastisyngis; and perseyue ye the doom of my lippis.
13:7Whether God hath nede to youre leesyng, that ye speke gilis for hym?
13:8Whether ye taken his face, and enforsen to deme for God?
13:9Ethir it schal plese hym, fro whom no thing mai be hid? Whether he as a man schal be disseyued with youre falsnessis?
13:10He schal repreue you; for ye taken his face in hiddlis.
13:11Anoon as he schal stire hym, he schal disturble you; and his drede schal falle on you.
13:12Youre mynde schal be comparisound to aische; and youre nollis schulen be dryuun in to clei.
13:13Be ye stille a litil, that Y speke, what euer thing the mynde hath schewid to me.
13:14Whi to-rende Y my fleischis with my teeth, and bere my lijf in myn hondis?
13:15Yhe, thouy God sleeth me, Y schal hope in hym; netheles Y schal preue my weies in his siyt.
13:16And he schal be my sauyour; for whi ech ypocrite schal not come in his siyt.
13:17Here ye my word, and perseyue ye with eeris derke and harde figuratif spechis.
13:18Yf Y schal be demed, Y woot that Y schal be foundun iust.
13:19Who is he that is demed with me? Come he; whi am Y stille, and am wastid?
13:20Do thou not to me twei thingis oneli; and thanne Y schal not be hid fro thi face.
13:21Make thin hond fer fro me; and thi drede make not me aferd.
13:22Clepe thou me, and Y schal answere thee; ethir certis Y schal speke, and thou schalt answere me.
13:23Hou grete synnes and wickidnessis haue Y? Schewe thou to me my felonyes, and trespassis.
13:24Whi hidist thou thi face, and demest me thin enemy?
13:25Thou schewist thi myyt ayens a leef, which is rauyschid with the wynd; and thou pursuest drye stobil.
13:26For thou writist bitternessis ayens me; and wolt waste me with the synnes of my yong wexynge age.
13:27Thou hast set my foot in a stok, and thou hast kept alle my pathis; and thou hast biholde the steppis of my feet.
13:28And Y schal be wastid as rot, and as a cloth, which is etun of a mouyte.

13:1Loe, mine eye hath seene all this: mine eare hath heard, and vnderstande it.
13:2I knowe also as much as you knowe: I am not inferiour vnto you.
13:3But I will speake to the Almightie, and I desire to dispute with God.
13:4For in deede ye forge lyes, and all you are physitions of no value.
13:5Oh, that you woulde holde your tongue, that it might be imputed to you for wisedome!
13:6Nowe heare my disputation, and giue eare to the arguments of my lips.
13:7Will ye speake wickedly for Gods defence, and talke deceitfully for his cause?
13:8Will ye accept his person? or will ye contende for God?
13:9Is it well that he shoulde seeke of you? will you make a lye for him, as one lyeth for a man?
13:10He will surely reprooue you, if ye doe secretly accept any person.
13:11Shall not his excellencie make you afraid? and his feare fall vpon you?
13:12Your memories may be compared vnto ashes, and your bodyes to bodyes of clay.
13:13Holde your tongues in my presence, that I may speake, and let come vpon what will.
13:14Wherefore doe I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my soule in mine hande?
13:15Loe, though he slay me, yet will I trust in him, and I will reprooue my wayes in his sight.
13:16He shalbe my saluation also: for the hypocrite shall not come before him.
13:17Heare diligently my wordes, and marke my talke.
13:18Beholde nowe: if I prepare me to iudgement, I knowe that I shalbe iustified.
13:19Who is he, that will pleade with me? for if I nowe holde my tongue, I dye.
13:20But doe not these two things vnto me: then will I not hide my selfe from thee.
13:21Withdrawe thine hande from me, and let not thy feare make me afraide.
13:22Then call thou, and I will answere: or let me speake, and answere thou me.
13:23Howe many are mine iniquities and sinnes? shewe me my rebellion, and my sinne.
13:24Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and takest me for thine enemie?
13:25Wilt thou breake a leafe driuen to and from? and wilt thou pursue the drie stubble?
13:26For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possesse the iniquities of my youth.
13:27Thou puttest my feete also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly vnto all my pathes, and makest the print thereof in ye heeles of my feet.
13:28Such one consumeth like a rotten thing, and as a garment that is motheaten.
