| 15:2 | Shal a wyse mans answer be the scyence of the wynde, and fil any mans Bely as it were with the wynde of the east? |
| 15:3 | Shal he reproue wt a word, that is nothyng worth: and speake the thinges, which can do no good? |
| 15:4 | As for shame, thou hast sett it asyde, elles woldest thou not make so many wordes before God: |
| 15:5 | but thy wyckednesse teacheth thy mouth, and so thou hast chosen the a craftye tonge. |
| 15:6 | Thyne awne mouth condempneth the, and not I: yee, thyne awne lyppes shape an answer agaynst the. |
| 15:7 | Art thou the fyrste man, that euer was borne? Or, wast thou made before the hylles? |
| 15:8 | hast thou hearde the secrete councell of God, that all wysdome is to lytle for the? |
| 15:9 | What knowest thou, that we knowe not? And what vnderstandest thou, but we can the same? |
| 15:10 | With vs are both olde and aged men, yee, soch as haue lyued longer then thy father. |
| 15:11 | Thynckest thou it a small thynge of the consolacyons of God? with the is a lyenge word. |
| 15:12 | Why doth thyne hert so be wytch the? And wherfore wynckest thou wyth thyne eyes, |
| 15:13 | that thy mynde is so puft vp agaynst God, and lettest soch wordes go oute of thy mouth? |
| 15:14 | What is man, that he shulde be cleane? what hath he (which is borne of a woman) wherby he myght be righteous? |
| 15:15 | Behold, he doth not trust hys saynctes: yee, the very heauens are not cleane in hys syght. |
| 15:16 | Howe moch more then an abhomynable and vyle man, which drincketh wickednesse lyke water? |
| 15:17 | I wyll tell the, heare me: and I wyll shewe the that I haue sene: |
| 15:18 | which wyse men haue tolde, and hath not bene hyd from their fathers |
| 15:19 | vnto whom onely the earthe was geuen, and no straunger went amonge them. |
| 15:20 | The vngodly soroweth all the dayes of hys lyfe as it were a woman with a childe, and the nombre of a tyrauntes yeares is vnknowne. |
| 15:21 | A fearfull sounde is euer in hys eares, and when it is peace, yet feareth he destruccyon. |
| 15:22 | He beleueth neuer to be delyuered oute of darckenes, for the swearde is alwaye before hys eyes. |
| 15:23 | When he goeth forth to get his lyuying, he seeth plainely, that the daye of darcknesse is at hande. |
| 15:24 | Sorowe and carefulnesse wyll make hym afrayed, and compasse hym rounde aboute, lyke as it were a kynge with hys hoost ready to the batayll. |
| 15:25 | For he hath stretched out hys hande agaynst God, and armed hym selfe agaynst the almyghtye, |
| 15:26 | He runneth proudly vpon hym, and with a styff necke fyghteth he agaynst hym: |
| 15:27 | where as he couereth hys face with fatnesse, and maketh hys body well lykynge. |
| 15:28 | Therfore shall hys dwellynge be in desolate cyties, and in houses which no man inhabyteth, but are become heapes of stones. |
| 15:29 | He shall not be riche, nether shall hys substaunce contynue, ner encrease vpon earthe. |
| 15:30 | He shall neuer come oute of darcknesse, the flame shall drye vp hys braunches: with the blast of the mouth of God shall he be taken awaye. |
| 15:31 | He beleueth not that he is in vanyte, and yet he is out of the waye, and vanyte shalbe hys recompence. |
| 15:32 | He shall perysh, afore hys tyme be worne out, and hys braunche shall not be grene. |
| 15:33 | He shalbe pluckt of as an vntymely grape from the vyne, & shall lett his floure fall, as the olyue doth. |
| 15:34 | For the congregacyyon of ypocrites shalbe desolate and vnfrutefull, and the fyre shall consume the houses of soch as are gredy to receaue giftes. |
| 15:35 | He conceaueth trauayle, and beareth vanyte, and theyr bodye bryngeth forth disceate. |
| 15:1 | Forsothe Eliphat Themanytes answeride, and seide, |
| 15:2 | Whether a wise man schal answere, as spekynge ayens the wynd, and schal fille his stomac with brennyng, `that is, ire? |
| 15:3 | For thou repreuest hym bi wordis, which is not lijk thee, and thou spekist that, that spedith not to thee. |
| 15:4 | As myche as is in thee, thou hast avoidid drede; and thou hast take awey preyeris bifor God. |
| 15:5 | For wickidnesse hath tauyt thi mouth, and thou suest the tunge of blasfemeris. |
| 15:6 | Thi tunge, and not Y, schal condempne thee, and thi lippis schulen answere thee. |
| 15:7 | Whether thou art borun the firste man, and art formed bifor alle little hillis? |
| 15:8 | Whether thou herdist the counsel of God, and his wisdom is lower than thou? |
| 15:9 | What thing knowist thou, whiche we knowen not? What thing vndurstondist thou, whiche we witen not? |
| 15:10 | Bothe wise men and elde, myche eldre than thi fadris, ben among vs. |
| 15:11 | Whether it is greet, that God coumforte thee? But thi schrewid wordis forbeden this. |
| 15:12 | What reisith thin herte thee, and thou as thenkynge grete thingis hast iyen astonyed? |
| 15:13 | What bolneth thi spirit ayens God, that thou brynge forth of thi mouth siche wordis? |
| 15:14 | What is a man, that he be with out wem, and that he borun of a womman appere iust? |
| 15:15 | Lo! noon among hise seyntis is vnchaungable, and heuenes ben not cleene in his siyt. |
| 15:16 | How myche more a man abhomynable and vnprofitable, that drynkith wickidnesse as water? |
| 15:17 | I schal schewe to thee, here thou me; Y schal telle to thee that, that Y siy. |
| 15:18 | Wise men knoulechen, and hiden not her fadris. |
| 15:19 | To whiche aloone the erthe is youun, and an alien schal not passe bi hem. |
| 15:20 | A wickid man is proud in alle hise daies; and the noumbre of hise yeeris and of his tirauntrie is vncerteyn. |
| 15:21 | The sown of drede is euere in hise eeris, and whanne pees is, he supposith euere tresouns. |
| 15:22 | He bileueth not that he may turne ayen fro derknessis to liyt; and biholdith aboute on ech side a swerd. |
| 15:23 | Whanne he stirith hym to seke breed, he woot, that the dai of derknessis is maad redi in his hond. |
| 15:24 | Tribulacioun schal make hym aferd, and angwisch schal cumpas hym, as a kyng which is maad redi to batel. |
| 15:25 | For he helde forth his hond ayens God, and he was maad strong ayens Almyyti God. |
| 15:26 | He ran with neck reisid ayens God, and he was armed with fat nol. |
| 15:27 | Fatnesse, that is, pride `comyng forth of temporal aboundaunce, hilide his face, `that is, the knowyng of vndurstondyng, and outward fatnesse hangith doun of his sidis. |
| 15:28 | He schal dwelle in desolat citees, and in deseert, `ethir forsakun, housis, that ben turned in to biriels. |
| 15:29 | He schal not be maad riche, nether his catel schal dwelle stidefastli; nether he schal sende his roote in the erthe, |
| 15:30 | nether he schal go awei fro derknessis. Flawme schal make drie hise braunchis, and he schal be takun a wey bi the spirit of his mouth. |
| 15:31 | Bileue he not veynli disseyued bi errour, that he schal be ayenbouyt bi ony prijs. |
| 15:32 | Bifor that hise daies ben fillid, he schal perische, and hise hondis schulen wexe drye; |
| 15:33 | he schal be hirt as a vyne in the firste flour of his grape, and as an olyue tre castinge awei his flour. |
| 15:34 | For the gaderyng togidere of an ipocrite is bareyn, and fier schal deuoure the tabernaclis of hem, that taken yiftis wilfuli. |
| 15:35 | He conseyuede sorewe, and childide wickidnesse, and his wombe makith redi tretcheries. |

| 15:2 | Shulde a wyse man geue soch an answere (as it were one that spake in the wynde) and fyll his stomacke with anger? |
| 15:3 | Thou reprouest wt wordes, that are nothinge wroth: and speakest the thinges, which can do no good. |

| 15:13 | yt thy mynde is so puft vp agaynst God & lettest soch wordes go out of thy mouth? |
| 15:14 | What is man, that he shulde be vncleane? what hath he (which is borne of a woman) wherby he might be knowne to be rightuous? |
| 15:15 | Beholde, he hath founde vnfaithfulnesse amoge his owne sanctes: yee the very heauens are vnclene in his sight. |
| 15:16 | How moch more then an abhominable and vyle ma, which dryncketh wickednesse like water? |
| 15:17 | I will tell the, heare me: I wil shewe the a thinge, that I knowe: |
| 15:18 | which wyse men haue tolde, & hath not bene hyd from their fathers: |
| 15:19 | vnto whom only the londe was geuen, that no straunger shulde come amonge them. |
| 15:20 | The vngodly despayreth all the dayes of his life, & the nombre of a tyrauntes yeares is vnknowne. |
| 15:21 | A fearfull sounde is euer in his eares, & when it is peace, yet feareth he destruccion: |
| 15:22 | He beleueth neuer to be delyuered out of darcknesse, the swearde is allwaye before his eyes. |
| 15:23 | When he goeth forth to get his lyuinge, he thinketh planely, that the daye of darcknesse is at honde. |
| 15:24 | Sorow and carefulnesse make him afrayed, & copasse him rounde aboute, like as it were a kinge with his hoost redy to the battayll. |
| 15:25 | For he hath stretched out his honde agaynst God, & armed himself agaynst ye Allmightie. |
| 15:26 | He runneth proudly vpon him, & with a stiff necke fighteth he agaynst him: |
| 15:27 | where as he couereth his face with fatnesse, and maketh his body well lykynge. |
| 15:28 | Therfore shall his dwellynge be in desolate cities, & in houses which no ma inhabiteth, but are become heapes of stones. |

| 15:31 | He wil nether applye himself to faithfulnes ner treuth, so sore is he disceaued wt vanite. |
| 15:32 | He shall perish, afore his tyme be worne out, and his honde shal not be grene. |
| 15:33 | He shalbe pluckte of as an vntymely grape from ye vyne, and shal let his floure fall, as the olyue doth. |
| 15:34 | For the congregacion of Ypocrites is vnfrutefull, & the fyre shal consume the houses of soch, as are gredy to receaue giftes. |
