Job - Chapter: 16

>
16:1Then Iob answered, and said,
16:2I haue heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.
16:3Shall vaine words haue an ende? or what emboldeneth thee, that thou answerest?
16:4I also could speake as yee doe: if your soule were in my soules stead, I could heape vp words against you, and shake mine head at you.
16:5But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the mouing of my lips should asswage your griefe.
16:6Though I speake, my griefe is not asswaged: and though I forbeare; what am I eased?
16:7But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate al my companie.
16:8And thou hast filled mee with wrinckles, which is a witnesse against me: and my leannesse rising vp in me, beareth witnesse to my face.
16:9He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth vpon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes vpon me.
16:10They haue gaped vpon me with their mouth, they haue smitten me vpon the cheeke reprochfully, they haue gathered themselues together against mee.
16:11God hath deliuered me to the vngodly, and turned me ouer into the hands of the wicked.
16:12I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my necke, and shaken me to pieces, and set me vp for his marke.
16:13His archers compasse me round about, he cleaueth my reines asunder, and doeth not spare; he powreth out my gall vpon the ground.
16:14He breaketh me with breach vpon breach, he runneth vpon me like a giant.
16:15I haue sowed sackcloth vpon my skin, and defiled my horne in the dust.
16:16My face is fowle with weeping, and on mine eye-lids is the shadow of death;
16:17Not for any iniustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.
16:18O earth couer not thou my blood, and let my cry haue no place.
16:19Also now, behold my witnesse is in heauen, and my record is on high.
16:20My friends scorne me: but mine eye powreth out teares vnto God.
16:21O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour.
16:22When a few yeeres are come, then I shall goe the way whence I shall not returne.

16:1Bvt Iob answered, and said,
16:2I haue oft times heard such things: miserable comforters are ye all.
16:3Shall there be none ende of wordes of winde? or what maketh thee bold so to answere?
16:4I could also speake as yee doe: (but woulde God your soule were in my soules stead) I could keepe you company in speaking, and could shake mine head at you,
16:5But I woulde strengthen you with my mouth, and the comfort of my lips should asswage your sorowe.
16:6Though I speake, my sorow can not be asswaged: though I cease, what release haue I?
16:7But now hee maketh mee wearie: O God, thou hast made all my congregation desolate,
16:8And hast made me full of wrinkles which is a witnesse thereof, and my leannes ryseth vp in me, testifying the same in my face.
16:9His wrath hath torne me, and hee hateth me, and gnasheth vpon mee with his teeth: mine enemie hath sharpened his eyes against me.
16:10They haue opened their mouthes vpon me, and smitten me on the cheeke in reproch; they gather themselues together against me.
16:11God hath deliuered me to the vniust, and hath made mee to turne out of the way by the hands of the wicked.
16:12I was in welth, but he hath brought me to nought: he hath taken me by the necke, and beaten me, and set me as a marke for himselfe.
16:13His archers compasse mee rounde about: he cutteth my reines, and doth not spare, and powreth my gall vpon the ground.
16:14He hath broken me with one breaking vpon another, and runneth vpon me like a gyant.
16:15I haue sowed a sackcloth vpon my skinne, and haue abased mine horne vnto the dust.
16:16My face is withered with weeping, and the shadow of death is vpon mine eyes,
16:17Though there be no wickednesse in mine hands, and my prayer be pure.
16:18O earth, couer not thou my blood, and let my crying finde no place.
16:19For lo, now my witnesse is in the heauen, and my record is on hie.
16:20My friends speake eloquently against me: but mine eye powreth out teares vnto God.
16:21Oh that a man might pleade with God, as man with his neighbour!
16:22For the yeeres accounted come, and I shall go the way, whence I shall not returne.

16:1Iob answered, and sayde:
16:2I haue oft tymes hearde soch thynges. Myserable geuers of conforte are ye, all the sorte of you.
16:3Shall not vayne wordes come yet to an ende? Or, hast thou yet eny more to saye?
16:4I coulde speake, as ye do also. But wold God, that youre soule were in my soules steade: then shuld I heape vp wordes agaynst you, and shake my heade at you.
16:5I shuld comforte you with my mouthe, and release youre payne with the talkyng of my lippes.
16:6For all my wordes, my sorow wyll ceasse: and though I holde my tonge, yet wyll it not departe from me.
16:7But now that God hath sente me aduersytie, thou hast troubled all my congregacyon.
16:8And that thou hast fylled me wyth wrynckles, my fleshe is recorde, and my leanesse ryseth vp agaynst me, and beareth wytnesse agaynst me.
16:9He is angrye at me, he hateth me and gnassheth vpon me wyth hys teth. Myne enemye skouleth vpon me wyth hys eyes.
16:10They haue opened their mouthes wyde vpon me & smytten me vpon the cheke despitefully, they gather them selues together agaynst me.
16:11God hath put me in prease with the vngodly, & delyuered me into the handes of the wycked.
16:12I was in wealth, but he hath brought me to naught. He hath taken me by the neck, he hath rent me, and sett me as a marck for him selfe.
16:13His archers compasse me rounde aboute: he wounded my loynes, and doth not spare. My bowels hath he poured vpon the ground.
16:14He hath geuen me one wound vpon another, and is fallen vpon me lyke a giaunte.
16:15I haue sowed a sack cloth vpon my skynne, & lye with my heare in the dust.
16:16My face is swollen with wepynge, and in myne eyes is the shadow of death.
16:17Howbeit, there is no wyckednesse in my handes, but my prayer is cleane.
16:18O earth couer not thou my bloude, and let my cryenge fynde no rowme.
16:19For lo, my witnesse is in heauen: & he that knoweth me, is aboue in the heygth:
16:20My frendes geue me many wordes, to scorne, and myne eye poureth out teares vnto God.
16:21O that a body might pleate with God, as one man doth with another,
16:22yet the nombre of my yeares is come, and the waye that I must go is at hande, from whence I shall not turne agayne.
