Job - Chapter: 23

>
23:1Iob answered, and sayde:
23:2My sayinge is yet this daye in bytternes, and my hande heuy because of my gronynge.
23:3O that I myght se him, and fynde hym: O that I myght come before his seate,
23:4to pleate my cause before him, and to fyll my mouth with argumentes.
23:5That I myght knowe, what answere he wolde geue me: and that I myght vnderstande, what he wolde saye vnto me.
23:6Wyll he pleate agaynst me with his great power and strength?
23:7No, but he wyll make me the stronger. He that is iust, shall entre disputacion with hym, and my iudge shall delyuer me for euer.
23:8Beholde, though I go before, I fynde him: If I come behynde, I can get no knowledge of him:
23:9Yf I go on the left syde where he doth hys worcke, I cannot atteyne vnto hym. A gayne, yf I go on the ryght syd, he hydeth hym selfe, that I cannot se him.
23:10But as for my waye, he knoweth it: and tryeth me as the golde in the fyre.
23:11My fote doth kepe his path, his hye waye haue I holden, and will not go out of it.
23:12I will not forsake the commaundement of his lippes, but loke what he charged me with his mouth, that haue I shutt vp in my herte.
23:13He is styll at one poynt, and who wyll turne him back? He doth as him listeth, and bringeth to passe what he will.
23:14He perfourmeth the thynge that is appoynted for me, & many soch thynges doth he.
23:15This is the cause that I shrincke at his presence, so that when I consydre hym, I am afrayed of him.
23:16For in somoch as he is God, he maketh my herte soft: and seynge that he is Allmyghtie, he putteth me in feare.
23:17Thus can not I gett out of darckenesse, nether hath he couered the cloude fro my face.

23:1Sotheli Joob answeride, and seide,
23:2Now also my word is in bitternesse, and the hond of my wounde is agreggid on my weilyng.
23:3Who yyueth to me, that Y knowe, and fynde hym, and come `til to his trone?
23:4Y schal sette doom bifor hym, and Y schal fille my mouth with blamyngis;
23:5that Y kunne the wordis, whiche he schal answere to me, and that Y vnderstonde, what he schal speke to me.
23:6Y nyle, that he stryue with me bi greet strengthe, nether oppresse me with the heuynesse of his greetnesse.
23:7Sette he forth equite ayens me, and my doom come perfitli to victorie.
23:8If Y go to the eest, God apperith not; if Y go to the west, Y schal not vndurstonde hym; if Y go to the left side,
23:9what schal Y do? Y schal not take hym; if Y turne me to the riyt side, Y schal not se hym.
23:10But he knowith my weie, and he schal preue me as gold, that passith thorouy fier.
23:11My foot suede hise steppis; Y kepte his weie, and Y bowide not awey fro it.
23:12Y yede not awei fro the comaundementis of hise lippis; and Y hidde in my bosum the wordis of his mouth.
23:13For he is aloone, and no man may turne awei hise thouytis; and what euer thing he wolde, his wille dide this thing.
23:14Whanne he hath fillid his wille in me, also many othere lijk thingis ben redi to hym.
23:15And therfor Y am disturblid of his face, and Y biholdynge hym am anguyschid for drede.
23:16God hath maad neische myn herte, and Almyyti God hath disturblid me.
23:17For Y perischide not for derknessis neiyynge; nethir myist hilide my face.

23:1Iob answered, and sayd:
23:2My sayenge is yet this daye in bytternes, and my hande heuy amonge my groninges.
23:3O that I might se him & fynde him: O that I might come before his seate,
23:4to pleate my cause before him, and to fyll my mouth with argumentes:
23:5That I might knowe, what answere he wolde geue me: & that I might vnderstonde, what he wolde saye vnto me.
23:6Wil he pleate agaynst me with his greate power & strength, or wyll he leane him self vtterly vpon me?
23:7Oh no, let him not do so with me. But let hym geue me like power to go to lawe, then am I sure to wynne my matter.
23:8For though I go before, I fynde him not: yf I come behynde, I ca get no knowlege of him:
23:9Yf I go on the left syde to pondre his workes, I can not atteyne vnto them: Agayne, yf I go on the right syde, he hydeth himself, yt I can not se him.
23:10But as for my waye, he knoweth it: & trieth me as ye golde in ye fyre.
23:11Neuertheles my fete kepe his path, his hye strete haue I holden, and not gone out of it.
23:12I haue not forsaken the comaundemet of his lippes, but loke what he charged me with his mouth, that haue I shutt vp in my herte.
23:13It is he himself alone, who will turne him back? He doth as him listeth, and bryngeth to passe what he wil.
23:14He rewardeth me into my bosome, & many other thinges mo doth he, as he maye by his power.
23:15This is ye cause, that I shrenke at his presence, so that when I considre him, I am afrayed of him.
23:16For in so moch as he is God, he maketh my herte soft: and seynge that he is Allmightie, he putteth me in feare.
23:17Thus can not I get out of darcknesse, the cloude hath so couered my face.
