Psalms - Chapter: 18

>
18:1[To the chiefe musicion, a psalme of Dauid, the seruant of the Lord, who spake vnto the Lord the words of this song, in the day that the Lord deliuered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said,] I will loue thee, O Lord, my strength.
18:2The Lord is my rocke, and my fortresse, and my deliuerer: my God, my strength in whome I will trust, my buckler, and the horne of my saluation, and my high tower.
18:3I will call vpon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saued from mine enemies.
18:4The sorrowes of death compassed me, and the floods of vngodly men made me afraid.
18:5The sorrowes of hell compassed me about: the snares of death preuented me.
18:6In my distresse I called vpon the Lord, and cryed vnto my God: hee heard my voyce out of his temple, and my crie came before him, euen into his eares.
18:7Then the earth shooke and trembled; the foundations also of the hilles mooued and were shaken, because hee was wroth.
18:8There went vp a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth deuoured, coales were kindled by it.
18:9He bowed the heauens also, and came downe: and darkenesse was vnder his feet.
18:10And he rode vpon a Cherub, and did flie: yea he did flie vpon the wings of the wind.
18:11He made darkenes his secret place: his pauilion round about him, were darke waters, and thicke cloudes of the skies.
18:12At the brightnes that was before him his thicke clouds passed, haile stones and coales of fire.
18:13The Lord also thundered in the heauens, and the highest gaue his voyce; hailestones and coales of fire.
18:14Yea, he sent out his arrowes, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.
18:15Then the chanels of waters were seene, and the foundations of the world were discouered: at thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
18:16He sent from aboue, he tooke me, he drew me out of many waters.
18:17He deliuered me from my strong enemie, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.
18:18They preuented me in the day of my calamitie: but the Lord was my stay.
18:19He brought me forth also into a large place: he deliuered me, because he delighted in me.
18:20The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousnesse, according to the cleannesse of my hands hath hee recompensed me.
18:21For I haue kept the wayes of the Lord, and haue not wickedly departed from my God.
18:22For all his iudgements were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.
18:23I was also vpright before him: and I kept my selfe from mine iniquity.
18:24Therefore hath the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousnesse, according to the cleannesse of my hands in his eye-sight.
18:25With the mercifull thou wilt shew thy selfe mercifull, with an vpright man thou wilt shew thy selfe vpright.
18:26With the pure thou wilt shewe thy selfe pure, and with the froward thou wilt shew thy selfe froward.
18:27For thou wilt saue the afflicted people: but wilt bring downe high lookes.
18:28For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkenesse.
18:29For by thee I haue run through a troupe? and by my God haue I leaped ouer a wall.
18:30As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
18:31For who is God saue the Lord? or who is a rocke saue our God?
18:32It is God that girdeth mee with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
18:33Hee maketh my feete like hindes feete, and setteth me vpon my high places.
18:34He teacheth my hands to warre, so that a bow of steele is broken by mine armes.
18:35Thou hast also giuen me the shield of thy saluation: and thy right hand hath holden me vp, and thy gentlenesse hath made me great.
18:36Thou hast enlarged my steppes vnder me; that my feete did not slippe.
18:37I haue pursued mine enemies, and ouertaken them: neither did I turne againe till they were consumed.
18:38I haue wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen vnder my feete.
18:39For thou hast girded mee with strength vnto the battell: thou hast subdued vnder me, those that rose vp against me.
18:40Thou hast also giuen mee the neckes of mine enemies: that I might destroy them that hate me.
18:41They cried, but there was none to saue them: euen vnto the Lord, but he answered them not.
18:42Then did I beate them small as the dust before the winde: I did cast them out, as the dirt in the streetes.
18:43Thou hast deliuered me from the striuings of the people, and thou hast made mee the head of the heathen: a people whom I haue not knowen, shall serue me.
18:44As soone as they heare of mee, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselues vnto me.
18:45The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.
18:46The Lord liueth, and blessed be my rocke: and let the God of my saluation be exalted.
18:47It is God that auengeth mee, and subdueth the people vnder me.
18:48He deliuereth me from mine enemies: yea thou liftest mee vp aboue those that rise vp against me; thou hast deliuered me from the violent man.
18:49Therfore will I giue thankes vnto thee, (O Lord) among the heathen: and sing prayses vnto thy name.
18:50Great deliuerance giueth he to his King: and sheweth mercy to his Annointed, to Dauid, and to his seede for euermore.

18:1To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid the seruant of the Lord, which spake unto the Lord the wordes of this song (in the day that the Lord delivered him for the hande of all this enemies, and form the and of saul) and sayd, I will loue thee dearely, O Lord my strength.
18:2The Lord is my rocke, and my fortresse, and he that deliuereth me, my God and my strength: in him will I trust, my shield, the horne also of my saluation, and my refuge.
18:3I will call vpon the Lord, which is worthie to be praysed: so shall I be safe from mine enemies.
18:4The sorowes of death compassed me, and the floods of wickednes made me afraide.
18:5The sorowes of the graue haue compassed me about: the snares of death ouertooke me.
18:6But in my trouble did I call vpon the Lord, and cryed vnto my God: he heard my voyce out of his Temple, and my crye did come before him, euen into his eares.
18:7Then the earth trembled, and quaked: the foundations also of the mountaines mooued and shooke, because he was angrie.
18:8Smoke went out at his nostrels, and a consuming fire out of his mouth: coales were kindled thereat.
18:9He bowed the heauens also and came downe, and darkenes was vnder his feete.
18:10And he rode vpon Cherub and did flie, and he came flying vpon the wings of the winde.
18:11He made darkenes his secrete place, and his pauilion round about him, euen darkenesse of waters, and cloudes of the ayre.
18:12At the brightnes of his presence his clouds passed, haylestones and coles of fire.
18:13The Lord also thundred in the heauen, and the Highest gaue his voyce, haylestones and coales of fire.
18:14Then hee sent out his arrowes and scattred them, and he increased lightnings and destroyed them.
18:15And the chanels of waters were seene, and the foundations of the worlde were discouered at thy rebuking, O Lord, at the blasting of the breath of thy nostrels.
18:16He hath sent downe from aboue and taken mee: hee hath drawen mee out of many waters.
18:17He hath deliuered mee from my strong enemie, and from them which hate me: for they were too strong for me.
18:18They preuented me in the day of my calamitie: but the Lord was my stay.
18:19Hee brought mee foorth also into a large place: hee deliuered mee because hee fauoured me.
18:20The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousnes: according to the purenes of mine hands he recompensed me:
18:21Because I kept the wayes of the Lord, and did not wickedly against my God.
18:22For all his Lawes were before mee, and I did not cast away his commandements from mee.
18:23I was vpright also with him, and haue kept me from my wickednes.
18:24Therefore the Lord rewarded me according to my righteousnesse, and according to the purenes of mine hands in his sight.
18:25With the godly thou wilt shewe thy selfe godly: with the vpright man thou wilt shew thy selfe vpright.
18:26With the pure thou wilt shewe thy selfe pure, and with the froward thou wilt shewe thy selfe froward.
18:27Thus thou wilt saue the poore people, and wilt cast downe the proude lookes.
18:28Surely thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God wil lighten my darkenes.
18:29For by thee I haue broken through an hoste, and by my God I haue leaped ouer a wall.
18:30The way of God is vncorrupt: the worde of the Lord is tried in the fire: he is a shield to all that trust in him.
18:31For who is God besides the Lord? and who is mightie saue our God?
18:32God girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way vpright.
18:33He maketh my feete like hindes feete, and setteth me vpon mine high places.
18:34He teacheth mine hands to fight: so that a bowe of brasse is broken with mine armes.
18:35Thou hast also giuen me the shield of thy saluation, and thy right hand hath stayed me, and thy louing kindenes hath caused me to increase.
18:36Thou hast enlarged my steps vnder mee, and mine heeles haue not slid.
18:37I haue pursued mine enemies, and taken them, and haue not turned againe till I had consumed them.
18:38I haue wounded them, that they were not able to rise: they are fallen vnder my feete.
18:39For thou hast girded me with strength to battell: them, that rose against me, thou hast subdued vnder me.
18:40And thou hast giuen me the neckes of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.
18:41They cryed but there was none to saue them, euen vnto the Lord, but hee answered them not.
18:42Then I did beate them small as the dust before the winde: I did treade them flat as the clay in the streetes.
18:43Thou hast deliuered me from the contentions of the people: thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people, whom I haue not knowen, shall serue me.
18:44As soone as they heare, they shall obey me: the strangers shall be in subiection to me.
18:45Strangers shall shrinke away, and feare in their priuie chambers.
18:46Let the Lord liue, and blessed be my strength, and the God of my saluation be exalted.
18:47It is God that giueth me power to auenge me, and subdueth the people vnder me.
18:48O my deliuerer from mine enemies, euen thou hast set mee vp from them, that rose against me: thou hast deliuered mee from the cruell man.
18:49Therefore I will prayse thee, O Lord, among the nations, and wil sing vnto thy Name.
18:50Great deliuerances giueth hee vnto his King, and sheweth mercie to his anoynted, euen to Dauid, and to his seede for euer.

18:1To the chaunter of Dauid the seruaunt of the Lorde, which spake vnto the Lord the wordes of thys song, (in the daye that the Lorde delyuered hym from the hande of all hys enemyes, and from the hande of Saul) and he sayde: I Will loue the, O Lorde, my strength. The Lorde is my stony rock, & my defence, my sauyour, my God, & my might, in whom I wyll trust: my buckler, the horne also of my saluacyon, and my refuge.
18:2I will call vpon the Lord, which is worthy to be praysed, so shall I be safe fro myne enemyes.
18:3The sorowes of deeth compassed me, & the ouerflowinges of vngodlynesse made me afrayed.
18:4The paynes of hell came about me, the snares of deeth ouertoke me.
18:5In my trouble wyll I call vpon the Lorde: & complayne vnto my God.
18:6So shall he heare my voyce out of his temple, & my complaynte shall come before him, it shall entre euen into hys cares.
18:7The erth trembled & quaked, the very foundacions also of the hylles shoke & were remoued, because he was wroth.
18:8There went a smoke out in his presence: & a consumynge fyre out of hys mouth, so that coales were kyndled at it.
18:9He bowed the heauens also, & came downe, and it was darcke vnder his fete.
18:10He rode vpon the cherubins, & dyd flye: he came flying vpon the wynges of the wynde.
18:11He made darcknes hys secrete place: hys pauylion rounde aboute hym, with darcke water and thycke cloudes to couer hym.
18:12At the bryghtnesse of hys presence hys cloudes remoued, hayle stones and coales of fyer.
18:13The Lorde also thondred out of the heauen, & the hyest gaue his thondre, hayle stones, and coales of fyer.
18:14He sent out his arowes and scattered them, he cast forth lyghtnynges, & destroyed them.
18:15The sprynges of waters were sene, & the foundacions of the round worlde were discouered at thy chydinge, O Lorde, at the blastynge of the breth of thy displeasure.
18:16He shall send downe from the heygth to fetch me, & shall take me out of many waters.
18:17He shall delyuer me from my strongest enemye, & from them which hate me: for they are to myghty for me.
18:18They preuented me in the daye of my trouble: but the Lorde was my vpholder.
18:19He brought me forth also into a place of liberty: he brought me forth, euen because he had a fauoure vnto me.
18:20The Lorde shall rewarde me after my righteous dealing: accordinge to the clennes of my handes shall he recompense me.
18:21Because I haue kepte the wayes of the Lorde: and haue not forsaken wyckedlye my God.
18:22For I haue an eye vnto all hys lawes: & wyll nott cast out hys commaundementes fro me.
18:23I was also vncorrupte before him: and eschued myne awne wickednes.
18:24Therfore shall the Lord rewarde me after my righteous dealing: and according vnto the clennes of my handes in hys eye syght.
18:25With the holy thou shalt be holy, and wt a perfecte man thou shalt be perfect.
18:26With the cleane thou shalt be cleane: and with the frowarde thou shalt lerne frowardnes.
18:27For thou shalt saue the people that are in aduersite, and shalt brynge downe the hye lookes of the proude.
18:28Thou also shalt lighte my candelle: the Lorde my God shall make my darcknes to be light.
18:29For in the I shall disconfyte an hoost of men: and wt the helpe of my God I shall leape ouer the wall.
18:30The waye of God is an vndefyled waye the worde of the Lorde also is tryed in the fyre: he is the defender of all them that putt their trust in him.
18:31For who is God but the Lorde? or who hath any strength except or God?
18:32It is God that gyrdeth me wt strength of warre, and maketh my waye parfecte.
18:33He maketh my fete lyke hertes fete: and setteth me vp on hye.
18:34He teacheth myne handes to fyght, & myne armes shall breake euen a bow of steele.
18:35Thou hast geuen me the defence of thy saluacion: thy right hande also shall holde me vp, and thy louynge correccion shall make me greate.
18:36Thou shalt make rowme ynough vnder me for to go, that my fote steppes shall not slyde.
18:37I wyll folowe vpon myne enemies, & ouertake them: neyther wyll I turne agayne, tyll I haue destroyed them.
18:38I will smyte them, that they shall not be able to stande: but fall vnder my fete.
18:39Thou hast gyrded me with strength vnto the battayll, thou shalt throwe downe myne enemyes vnder me.
18:40Thou hast made myne enemyes also to turne theyr backes vpon me, & I shall destroye them that hate me.
18:41They shall crye: but there shalbe none to helpe them: yee, euen vnto the Lord, shall they crye: but he shall nott heare them.
18:42I wyll beate them as small as the dust before the wynde: I will cast them out, as the claye in the stretes.
18:43Thou shalt delyuer me from the stryuinges of the people: and thou shalte make me the head of the Heythen.
18:44A people whom I haue not knowen shall serue me.
18:45Assone as they heare of me, they shall obey me: but the straunge chyldren shall dissemble with me.
18:46The straunge chyldren shall fayle, and be afrayed out of theyr presons.
18:47The Lorde lyueth: & blessed be my strong helper, and praysed be the God of my saluacyon.
18:48Euen the God which seeth that I be auenged, and subdueth the people vnto me.
18:49It is he that delyuereth me from my enemyes, and setteth me vp aboue myne aduersaryes: thou shalt rydd me from the wycked man.
18:50For this cause I will geue thankes vnto the, O Lorde, amonge the Gentyles, and synge prayses vnto thy name. Greate prosperite geueth he vnto his kinge: and sheweth louyng kyndnesse vnto Dauid hys anoynted, & vnto hys seede for euermore.
