Psalms - Chapter: 39

>
39:1[To the chiefe Musician, euen to Ieduthun, A Psalme of Dauid.] I sayd, I will take heede to my waies, that I sinne not with my tongue: I will keepe my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
39:2I was dumbe with silence, I held my peace, euen from good, and my sorrow was stirred.
39:3My heart was hot within mee, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue.
39:4Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my dayes, what it is: that I may know how fraile I am.
39:5Behold, thou hast made my dayes as an hand breadth, and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily euery man at his best state is altogether vanitie. Selah.
39:6Surely euery man walketh in a vaine shew: surely they are disquieted in vaine: he heapeth vp riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
39:7And now Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
39:8Deliuer me from all my transgressions: make mee not the reproch of the foolish.
39:9I was dumbe, I opened not my mouth; because thou diddest it.
39:10Remooue thy stroke away from mee: I am consumed by the blowe of thine hand.
39:11When thou with rebukes doest correct man for iniquitie, thou makest his beautie to consume away like a moth: surely euery man is vanitie. Selah.
39:12Heare my prayer, O Lord, and giue eare vnto my crie, hold not thy peace at my teares: for I am a straunger with thee, and a soiourner, as all my fathers were.
39:13O spare me, that I may recouer strength: before I goe hence, and be no more.

39:1I sayde to my selfe I wyll take heede to my wayes, that I offende not in my tongue: I wyll kepe my mouth as it were with a brydell, whylest the vngodly is in my syght
39:2I became dumbe through scilence, I helde my peace from speakyng of good wordes: but the more was my sorowe increased
39:3My heart was hotte within me, and whyle I was thus musyng the fire kyndled: and at the last I spake with my tongue
39:4O God make me to knowe mine ende, and the number of my dayes: that I may be certified howe long I haue to lyue
39:5Behold thou hast made my dayes as it were an hand breadth long, & mine age is euen as nothing before thee: truely euery man is al together vanitie. Selah
39:6Truely man walketh in a vayne shadowe, truely he and all his do disquiet them selues in vayne: he heapeth vp riches, & can not tel who shal vse them
39:7And nowe Lord what wayte I after? truely my hope is euen in thee
39:8Delyuer me from all my offences: and make me not a rebuke vnto the foolishe
39:9I became dumbe, and opened not my mouth: for it was thy doyng
39:10Take thy plague away from me: I am euen consumed by the meanes of thy heauy hande
39:11Thou doest chasten man, rebukyng him for sinne: thou as a moth doest consume his excellencie, for in very deede euery man is but vanitie. Selah
39:12Heare my prayer O God, and geue eares to my crying, holde not thy peace at my teares: for I am a strauger with thee, and a soiourner as all my fathers were
39:13Oh spare me a litle, that I may recouer my strength: before I go hence, and be no more [seene.

39:1To the excellent musician Ieduthun. I thought, I will take heede to my wayes, that I sinne not with my tongue: I will keepe my mouth brideled, while the wicked is in my sight.
39:2I was dumme and spake nothing: I kept silece euen from good, and my sorow was more stirred.
39:3Mine heart was hote within me, and while I was musing, the fire kindeled, and I spake with my tongue, saying,
39:4Lord, let me know mine ende, and the measure of my dayes, what it is: let mee knowe howe long I haue to liue.
39:5Beholde, thou hast made my dayes as an hand breadth, and mine age as nothing in respect of thee: surely euery man in his best state is altogether vanitie. Selah.
39:6Doubtlesse man walketh in a shadowe, and disquieteth himselfe in vaine: he heapeth vp riches, and cannot tell who shall gather them.
39:7And now Lord, what wait I for? mine hope is euen in thee.
39:8Deliuer me from all my transgressions, and make me not a rebuke vnto the foolish.
39:9I should haue bene dumme, and not haue opened my mouth, because thou didest it.
39:10Take thy plague away from mee: for I am consumed by the stroke of thine hand.
39:11When thou with rebukes doest chastise man for iniquitie, thou as a mothe makest his beautie to consume: surely euery man is vanitie. Selah.
39:12Heare my prayer, O Lord, and hearken vnto my cry: keepe not silence at my teares, for I am a strager with thee, and a soiourner as all my fathers.
39:13Stay thine anger from me, that I may recouer my strength, before I go hence and be not.
