58:1 | [To the chiefe musician Al-taschith, Michtam of Dauid.] Doe yee indeed speake righteousnesse, O congregation? doe ye iudge vprightly, O ye sonnes of men? |
58:2 | Yea, in heart you worke wickednesse; you waigh the violence of your hands in the earth. |
58:3 | The wicked are estranged from the wombe, they goe astray as soone as they be borne, speaking lies. |
58:4 | Their poison is like the poyson of a serpent; they are like the deafe adder that stoppeth her eare: |
58:5 | Which will not hearken to the voyce of charmers, charming neuer so wisely. |
58:6 | Breake their teeth, O God, in their mouth: breake out the great teeth of the young lyons, O Lord. |
58:7 | Let them melt away as waters, which runne continually: When he bendeth his bow to shoote his arrowes, let them be as cut in pieces. |
58:8 | As a snaile which melteth, let euery one of them passe away: like the vntimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sunne. |
58:9 | Before your pots can feele the thornes, he shall take them away as with a whirlewind, both liuing, and in his wrath. |
58:10 | The righteous shall reioyce when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feete in the blood of the wicked. |
58:11 | So that a man shall say, Uerily there is a reward for the righteous: verily hee is a God that iudgeth in the earth. |
58:1 | O ye that consult together, pronounce ye truely the thing that is iust? O ye sonnes of men iudge you according to equitie |
58:2 | Nay, rather ye imagine mischiefe in your heart: your handes waygh as in a ballaunce wickednes vpon the earth |
58:3 | The vngodly are straungers euen from their mothers wombe: assoone as they be borne, they go astray and speake a lye |
58:4 | (58:4a) They haue poyson within them lyke to the poyson of a serpent: they be lyke the deafe adder that stoppeth her eares |
58:5 | (58:4b) and wyll not heare the voyce of charmers, though he be neuer so skilfull in charming |
58:6 | (58:5) Breake their teeth O Lorde in their mouthes: smite a sunder the chawe bones of Lions O God |
58:7 | (58:6) Let them be dissolued as into water, let them come to naught of them selues: and when they shoote their arrowes, let them be as broken |
58:8 | (58:7) Let them creepe away lyke a snayle that foorthwith consumeth to naught: or lyke the vntimely fruite of a woman, let them not see the sunne |
58:9 | (58:8) As a greene thorne kindled with fyre, goeth out before your pottes be made whot: euen so let a furious rage bring him to naught |
58:10 | (58:9) The righteous wyll reioyce when he seeth the vengeaunce: he wyll washe his foote steppes in the blood of the vngodly |
58:11 | (58:10) And euery man shall say, veryly there is a rewarde for the righteous: doubtlesse there is a God that iudgeth in the earth |

58:3 | The wicked are strangers from ye wombe: euen from the belly haue they erred, and speake lyes. |
58:4 | Their poyson is euen like the poyson of a serpent: like ye deafe adder that stoppeth his eare. |
58:5 | Which heareth not the voyce of the inchanter, though he be most expert in charming. |
58:6 | Breake their teeth, O God, in their mouthes: breake the iawes of the yong lions, O Lord. |
58:7 | Let them melt like the waters, let them passe away: when hee shooteth his arrowes, let them be as broken. |
58:8 | Let them consume like a snayle that melteth, and like the vntimely fruite of a woman, that hath not seene the sunne. |
58:9 | As raw flesh before your pots feele the fire of thornes: so let him cary them away as with a whirlewinde in his wrath. |
58:10 | The righteous shall reioyce when he seeeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feete in the blood of the wicked. |
58:11 | And men shall say, Verily there is fruite for the righteous: doutlesse there is a God that iudgeth in the earth. |
