Psalms - Chapter: 74

74:1[Maschil of Asaph.] O God, why hast thou cast vs off for euer? why doeth thine anger smoke against the sheepe of thy pasture?
74:2Remember thy Congregation which thou hast purchased of olde: the rod of thine inheritance which thou hast redeemed, this mount Sion, wherein thou hast dwelt.
74:3Lift vp thy feete vnto the perpetuall desolations: euen all that the enemie hath done wickedly in the Sanctuarie.
74:4Thine enemies roare in the midst of thy congregations: they set vp their ensignes for signes.
74:5A man was famous according as he had lifted vp axes vpon the thicke trees.
74:6But now they breake downe the carued worke thereof at once, with axes and hammers.
74:7They haue cast fire into thy Sanctuary, they haue defiled by casting downe, the dwelling place of thy Nawe to the ground.
74:8They said in their hearts, Let vs destroy them together: they haue burnt vp all the Synagogues of God in the land.
74:9We see not our signes, there is no more any prophet, neither is there among vs any that knoweth howe long.
74:10O God, how long shall the aduersarie reproach? shall the enemie blaspheme thy Name for euer?
74:11Why withdrawest thou thy hand, euen thy right hand? plucke it out of thy bosome.
74:12For God is my King of old working saluation in the midst of the earth.
74:13Thou didst diuide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.
74:14Thou brakest the heads of Leuiathan in pieces, and gauest him to bee meat to the people inhabiting the wildernesse.
74:15Thou didst cleaue the fountaine and the flood: thou driedst vp mightie riuers.
74:16The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sunne.
74:17Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: Thou hast made Summer and Winter.
74:18Remember this, that the enemie hath reproached, O Lord, and that the foolish people haue blasphemed thy Name.
74:19O deliuer not the soule of thy turtle doue vnto the multitude of the wicked forget not the Congregation of thy poore for euer.
74:20Haue respect vnto the couenant: for the darke places of the earth are full of the habitations of crueltie.
74:21O let not the oppressed returne ashamed: let the poore and needie praise thy name.
74:22Arise, O God, plead thine owne cause: remember how the foolish man reprocheth thee daily.
74:23Forget not the voyce of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise vp against thee, increaseth continually.

 

74:1O Lorde wherfore dost thou forsake vs altogether? wherfore breaketh foorth thy anger agaynst the sheepe of thy pasture
74:2Remember thy congregation, thou hast possest it nowe a long tyme: thou hast redeemed the rodde of thine inheritaunce, euen mount Sion wherein thou dwellest
74:3Lyft vp thy feete for to destroy vtterly euery enemie: which hath done euyll in thy sanctuarie
74:4Thyne aduersaries roare in the myddest of thy congregations: and set vp their banners for signes [of victorie.
74:5He that hewed tymber afore out of thicke woddes for to builde the temple: was esteemed as one offeryng a present to God aboue
74:6But nowe they breake downe into peeces all the carued worke therof: with axes and hammers
74:7They haue set fire on thy holy places: they haue defiled the dwellyng place of thy name castyng it downe to the groud
74:8Yea, they sayde in their heartes, let vs make hauocke of them altogether: thus haue they burnt vp all the houses of God in the lande
74:9We see not our ensignes, there is not one prophete more: no not one is there amongst vs that vnderstandeth our case
74:10O Lorde shall the aduersarie do this dishonour continually? shall the enemie blaspheme thy name for euer
74:11Why withdrawest thou thy hande, yea thy right hande? consume them, drawing it out of thy bosome
74:12Truely God is my kyng of olde: who worketh saluation in the myddest of the earth
74:13Thou didst deuide the sea through thy power: thou brakest the heades of the dragons in the waters
74:14Thou smotest the heades of Leuiathan in peeces: and gauest hym to be meate for the people in wildernesse
74:15Thou broughtest out fountaynes and waters out of the harde rockes: thou dyddest drye vp mightie waters
74:16The day is thine, & the nyght is thine: thou hast prepared the light & the sunne
74:17Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast ordeyned summer and wynter
74:18Remember this O God, the enemie hath dishonoured: and the foolishe people hath blasphemed thy name
74:19O deliuer not the soule of thy turtle doue vnto a wylde beast: forget not the congregation of the poore for euer
74:20Loke vpon the couenaunt: for darknesse of the earth hath replenisshed houses with iniquitie
74:21O let not the simple go away ashamed: but let the afflicted & needy geue prayse vnto thy name
74:22Arise O Lord, mayntayne thine owne cause: remember the dishonour that the foolishe man doth vnto thee dayly
74:23Forget not the voyce of thine enemies: the mutteryng of them that hate thee ascendeth vp continually

 

74:1A Psalme to give instruction, committed to Asaph. O God, why hast thou put vs away for euer? why is thy wrath kindled against the sheepe of thy pasture?
74:2Thinke vpon thy Congregation, which thou hast possessed of olde, and on the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed, and on this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.
74:3Lift vp thy strokes, that thou mayest for euer destroy euery enemie that doeth euill to the Sanctuarie.
74:4Thine aduersaries roare in the middes of thy Congregation, and set vp their banners for signes.
74:5He that lifted the axes vpon the thicke trees, was renowmed, as one, that brought a thing to perfection:
74:6But nowe they breake downe the carued worke thereof with axes and hammers.
74:7They haue cast thy Sanctuarie into the fire, and rased it to the grounde, and haue defiled the dwelling place of thy Name.
74:8They saide in their hearts, Let vs destroy them altogether: they haue burnt all the Synagogues of God in the land.
74:9We see not our signes: there is not one Prophet more, nor any with vs that knoweth howe long.
74:10O God, howe long shall the aduersarie reproche thee? shall the enemie blaspheme thy Name for euer?
74:11Why withdrawest thou thine hand, euen thy right hand? drawe it out of thy bosome, and consume them.
74:12Euen God is my King of olde, working saluation in the middes of the earth.
74:13Thou didest deuide the sea by thy power: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.
74:14Thou brakest the head of Liuiathan in pieces, and gauest him to be meate for the people in wildernesse.
74:15Thou brakest vp the fountaine and riuer: thou dryedst vp mightie riuers.
74:16The day is thine, and the night is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sunne.
74:17Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.
74:18Remember this, that the enemie hath reproched the Lord, and the foolish people hath blasphemed thy Name.
74:19Giue not the soule of thy turtle doue vnto the beast, and forget not the Congregation of thy poore for euer.
74:20Consider thy couenant: for the darke places of the earth are full of the habitations of the cruell.
74:21Oh let not the oppressed returne ashamed, but let the poore and needie prayse thy Name.
74:22Arise, O God: mainteine thine owne cause: remember thy dayly reproche by the foolish man.
74:23Forget not the voyce of thine enemies: for the tumult of them, that rise against thee, ascendeth continually.
