Psalms - Chapter: 79

>
79:1O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.
79:2The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.
79:3Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.
79:4We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.
79:5How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
79:6Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.
79:7For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.
79:8O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.
79:9Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.
79:10Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.
79:11Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;
79:12And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.
79:13So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

79:1A Psalme of Asaph. O God the Heathen are come into thy inheritaunce: thy holy temple haue they defyled, and made Ierusalem an heape of stones.
79:2The deed bodyes of thy seruauntes haue they geuen to be meate, vnto the foules of the ayre, and the flesh of thy saynctes vnto the beastes of the lande.
79:3Their bloud haue they shed lyke water on euery syde of Ierusalem, and there was no man to burye them.
79:4We are become an open shame vnto oure enemies, a very scorne and derysyon vnto them that are rounde aboute us.
79:5Lorde, how longe wylt thou be angrye? shall thy gelousy burne lyke fyre for euer?
79:6Poure out thyne indignacion vpon the Heathen that haue not knowne the, and vpon the kyngdome that haue not called vpon thy name.
79:7For they haue deuoured Iacob, and layed waste his dwellinge place.
79:8O remembre not oure olde synnes, but haue mercy vpon vs, and that soone, for we are come to greate misery.
79:9Helpe vs, O God of oure saluacion, for the glory of thy name: O delyuer vs, and be mercyfull vnto oure synnes for thy names sake.
79:10Wherfore do the Heathen saye: where is now their God?
79:11O let the vengeaunce of thy seruauntes bloude that is shed, be openly shewed vpon the Heathen in oure syght.
79:12O let the sorowfull syghyng of the presoners come before the: accordyng vnto the greatnesse of thy power, preserue thou those that are appoynted to dye.
79:13And for the blasphemy (wherwith oure neyghbours haue blasphemed the) rewarde thou them, O Lorde, seuen folde into their bosome. So we, that be thy people and shepe of thy pasture, shall geue the thanckes for euer, and wyl alwaye be shewynge forth thy prayse from generacion to generacion.
