Proverbs - Chapter: 31

>
31:1The wordes of King Lemuel, the prophecie that his mother taught him.
31:2What, my sonne! and what, the sonne of my wombe! and what, the sonne of my vowes!
31:3Giue not thy strength vnto women, nor thy wayes to that which destroyeth kings.
31:4It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drinke wine, nor for Princes, strong drinke:
31:5Lest they drinke, and forget the Law, and peruert the iudgement of any of the afflicted.
31:6Giue strong drinke vnto him that is ready to perish, and wine vnto those that be of heauie hearts.
31:7Let him drinke, and forget his pouertie, and remember his misery no more.
31:8Open thy mouth for the dumbe in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
31:9Open thy mouth, iudge righteously, and plead the cause of the poore and needy.
31:10Who can finde a vertuous woman? for her price is farre aboue Rubies.
31:11The heart of her husband doeth safely trust in her, so that he shall haue no need of spoile.
31:12She will doe him good, and not euill, all the dayes of her life.
31:13She seeketh wooll and flaxe, and worketh willingly with her hands.
31:14She is like the merchants ships, she bringeth her food from afarre.
31:15Shee riseth also while it is yet night, and giueth meate to her household, and a portion to her maydens.
31:16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her handes she planteth a Uineyard.
31:17She girdeth her loynes with strength, and strengtheneth her armes.
31:18She perceiueth that her merchandise is good; her candle goeth not out by night.
31:19She layeth her handes to the spindle, and her handes hold the distaffe.
31:20She stretcheth out her hand to the poore, yea she reacheth foorth her handes to the needy.
31:21She is not afraid of the snow for her houshold: for all her houshold are cloathed with scarlet.
31:22She maketh herselfe couerings of tapestrie; her cloathing is silke and purple.
31:23Her husband is knowen in the gates, when he sitteth among the Elders of the land.
31:24She maketh fine linnen, and selleth it, and deliuereth girdles vnto the merchant.
31:25Strength and honour are her cloathing; and she shall reioyce in time to come.
31:26She openeth her mouth with wisedome; and in her tongue is the law of kindnesse.
31:27She looketh well to the wayes of her housholde, and eateth not the bread of idlenesse.
31:28Her children arise vp, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
31:29Many daughters haue done vertuously, but thou excellest them all.
31:30Fauour is deceitfull, and beautie is vaine: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shalbe praised.
31:31Giue her of the fruit of her hands, and let her owne workes praise her in the gates.

 

31:1The wordes of king Lamuel, and the lesson that his mother taught him
31:2What my sonne? what the sonne of my body? and what O my deare beloued sonne
31:3Geue not ouer thy strength & wayes vnto women, which are the destruction euen of kynges
31:4O Lamuel, it is not for kynges, it is not I say for kynges to drynke wine, nor princes strong drynke
31:5Lest they by drnkyng forget the lawe, and peruert the iudgement of all poore mens children
31:6Geue strong drynke vnto such as are redy to perishe, and wine vnto those that mourne
31:7That they may drynke it, and forget their miserie and aduersitie
31:8Be thou an aduocate for the dumbe, to speake in the cause of all such as be succourlesse in this transitorie worlde
31:9Open thy mouth, defende the thyng that is lawfull and ryght, and the cause of the poore and helpelesse
31:10Who so fyndeth an honest faythfull woman, she is much more worth then pearles
31:11The heart of her husbande may safely trust in her, so that he shall fall into no pouertie
31:12She wyll do hym good, and not euill, all the dayes of her lyfe
31:13She occupieth wooll and flaxe, and laboureth gladly with her handes
31:14She is like a marchauntes ship, that bryngeth her vittayles from a farre
31:15She is vp in the nyght season, to prouide meate for her housholde, and foode for her maydens
31:16She considereth lande, and byeth it: and with the fruite of her handes she planteth a vineyarde
31:17She girdeth her loynes with strength, and fortifieth her armes
31:18And yf she perceaue that her huswiferie doth good, her candell goeth not out by nyght
31:19She layeth her fingers to the spindle, & her hande taketh holde of the distaffe
31:20She openeth her hande to the poore, yea she stretcheth foorth her handes to such as haue neede
31:21She feareth not that the colde of wynter shall hurt her housholde, for all her housholde folkes are clothed with scarlet
31:22She maketh her selfe faire ornametes, her clothyng is white silke and purple
31:23Her husbande is much set by in the gates, when he sitteth among the rulers of the lande
31:24She maketh cloth of silke, and selleth it: and deliuereth girdles vnto the marchaunt
31:25Strength and honour is her clothing, and in the latter day she shall reioyce
31:26She openeth her mouth with wisdome, and in her tongue is the lawe of grace
31:27She loketh well to the wayes of her housholde: and eateth not her bread with idlenesse
31:28Her children arise vp & call her blessed: and her husbande shall make much of her
31:29Many daughters there be that gather riches together: but thou goest aboue them all
31:30As for fauour it is deceiptfull, & beautie is a vayne thyng: but a woman that feareth the Lorde, shalbe praysed
31:31Geue her of the fruite of her handes: and let her owne workes prayse her in the gates

31:3Giue not thy strength vnto women, nor thy wayes, which is to destroy Kings.
31:4It is not for Kings, O Lemuel, it is not for Kings to drink wine nor for princes strog drinke,
31:5Lest he drinke and forget the decree, and change the iudgement of all the children of affliction.
31:6Giue ye strong drinke vnto him that is readie to perish, and wine vnto them that haue griefe of heart.
31:7Let him drinke, that he may forget his pouertie, and remember his miserie no more.
31:8Open thy mouth for the domme in the cause of all the children of destruction.
31:9Open thy mouth: iudge righteously, and iudge the afflicted, and the poore.
31:10Who shall finde a vertuous woman? for her price is farre aboue the pearles.
31:11The heart of her husband trusteth in her, and he shall haue no neede of spoyle.
31:12She will doe him good, and not euill all the dayes of her life.
31:13She seeketh wooll and flaxe, and laboureth cheerefully with her handes.
31:14She is like the shippes of marchants: shee bringeth her foode from afarre.
31:15And she riseth, whiles it is yet night: and giueth the portion to her houshold, and the ordinarie to her maides.
31:16She considereth a field, and getteth it: and with the fruite of her handes she planteth a vineyarde.
31:17She girdeth her loynes with strength, and strengtheneth her armes.
31:18She feeleth that her marchandise is good: her candle is not put out by night.
31:19She putteth her handes to the wherue, and her handes handle the spindle.
31:20She stretcheth out her hand to the poore, and putteth foorth her hands to the needie.
31:21She feareth not the snowe for her familie: for all her familie is clothed with skarlet.
31:22She maketh her selfe carpets: fine linen and purple is her garment.
31:23Her husband is knowen in the gates, when he sitteth with the Elders of the land.
31:24She maketh sheetes, and selleth them, and giueth girdels vnto the marchant.
31:25Strength and honour is her clothing, and in the latter day she shall reioyce.
31:26She openeth her mouth with wisdome, and the lawe of grace is in her tongue.
31:27She ouerseeth the wayes of her housholde, and eateth not the bread of ydlenes.
31:28Her children rise vp, and call her blessed: her husband also shall prayse her, saying,
31:29Many daughters haue done vertuously: but thou surmountest them all.
31:30Fauour is deceitfull, and beautie is vanitie: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praysed.
31:31Giue her of the fruite of her hands, and let her owne workes prayse her in the gates.
