30:1 | The words of Agur the sonne of Iakeh, euen the prophecy: The man spake vnto Ithiel, euen vnto Ithiel and Ucal. |
30:2 | Surely I am more brutish then any man, and haue not the vnderstanding of a man. |
30:3 | I neither learned wisedome, nor haue the knowledge of the holy. |
30:4 | Who hath ascended vp into heauen, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his sonnes name, if thou canst tell? |
30:5 | Euery word of God is pure: he is a shield vnto them that put their trust in him. |
30:6 | Adde thou not vnto his words, lest he reproue thee, and thou be found a lyar. |
30:7 | Two things haue I required of thee, deny me them not before I die. |
30:8 | Remoue farre from mee vanity, and lyes; giue me neither pouerty, nor riches, feede me with food conuenient for me. |
30:9 | Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poore, and steale, and take the name of my God in vaine. |
30:10 | Accuse not a seruant vnto his master; lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty. |
30:11 | There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not blesse their mother. |
30:12 | There is a generation that are pure in their owne eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthinesse. |
30:13 | There is a generation, O howe lofty are their eyes! and their eye-lids are lifted vp. |
30:14 | There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their iaw-teeth as kniues, to deuoure the poore from off the earth, and the needy from among men. |
30:15 | The horse-leach hath two daughters, crying, Giue, giue. There are three things that are neuer satisfied, yea foure things say not, It is enough: |
30:16 | The graue; and the barren wombe; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough. |
30:17 | The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother; the rauens of the valley shall picke it out, and the young Eagles shall eate it. |
30:18 | There be three things which are too wonderfull for me; yea foure, which I know not: |
30:19 | The way of an Eagle in the ayre; the way of a serpent vpon a rocke; the the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid. |
30:20 | Such is the way of an adulterous woman: she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I haue done no wickednesse. |
30:21 | For three things the earth is disquieted, and for foure which it cannot beare: |
30:22 | For a seruant when he reigneth, and a foole when hee is filled with meate: |
30:23 | For an odious woman when shee is married, and an handmayd that is heire to her mistresse. |
30:24 | There be foure things which are little vpon the earth; but they are exceeding wise: |
30:25 | The Ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meate in the summer. |
30:26 | The conies are but a feeble folke, yet make they their houses in the rocks |
30:27 | The locustes haue no king, yet goe they forth all of them by bands. |
30:28 | The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings palaces. |
30:29 | There be three things which goe well, yea foure are comely in going: |
30:30 | A lyon which is strongest among beastes, and turneth not away for any: |
30:31 | A gray-hound; an hee-goate also; and a king, against whom there is no rising vp. |
30:32 | If thou hast done foolishly in lifting vp thy selfe, or if thou hast thought euill, lay thine hand vpon thy mouth. |
30:33 | Surely the churning of milke bringeth forth butter; and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife. |

30:4 | Who hath clymed vp into heauen, and come downe from thence? who hath holden the wynde fast in his hande? who hath gathered together the waters in a garment? who hath established all the endes of the worlde: what is his name, and what is his sonnes name, yf thou canst tell |
30:5 | Euery worde of God is pure: he is a shielde vnto all them that put their trust in hym |
30:6 | Put thou nothyng vnto his wordes, lest he reproue thee, and thou be founde a lyar |
30:7 | Two thinges haue I required of thee, denie me them not before I dye |
30:8 | Remoue farre fro me vanitie and lyes, geue me neither pouertie nor riches, only graunt me a necessary lyuyng |
30:9 | Lest peraduenture I beyng full, shoulde denie thee, and say, who is the Lorde? or beyng oppressed with pouertie fall to stealyng, and forswere the name of my God |
30:10 | Accuse not a seruaunt vnto his maister, lest he speake euyll of thee, and thou be hurt |
30:11 | There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not blesse their mother |
30:12 | There is a generation that thynke them selues cleane, and yet is not cleansed from their filthinesse |
30:13 | There is a generation that hath a proude loke, and doth cast vp their eye lyddes |
30:14 | There is a generation whose teeth are as swordes, and their chawes as knyues, to deuour the poore from of the earth, & the needy from among men |
30:15 | The horse leache hath two daughters crying: bryng hyther, bryng hyther. There be three thynges that are neuer satisfied, yea foure thynges sayth neuer hoe |
30:16 | The graue, the barren wombe, and the earth that hath neuer water enough: as for fire it sayth neuer hoe |
30:17 | Who so laugheth his father to scorne, and setteth his mothers commaundement at naught, the rauens of the valley picke out his eyes, and deuoured be he of the young Egles |
30:18 | There be three thynges whiche are wonderfull to me, yea foure whiche passe my vnderstandyng |
30:19 | The way of an Egle in the ayre, the way of a serpent vpon a stone, the way of a ship in the middest of the sea, and the way of a man with a young woman |
30:20 | Such is the way also of a wyfe that breaketh wedlocke, which wypeth her mouth lyke as when she hath eaten, and sayth, as for me I haue done no wickednesse |
30:21 | For three thynges the earth is disquieted, and the fourth may it not abyde |
30:22 | A seruaunt that beareth rule, a foole that is full fedde |
30:23 | A spiteful woman when she is maried, and an handmayde that is heire to her maistresse |
30:24 | These be foure thynges in the earth the which are very litle, but in wisdome they exceede the wyse |
30:25 | The emmets are but a weake people, which yet gather their meate in the sommer |
30:26 | The conies are but a feeble folke, yet make their boroughes among the rockes |
30:27 | The grashoppers haue not a guide, yet go they foorth together by heapes |
30:28 | The spyder laboureth with her handes, and is in kynges palaces |
30:29 | There be three thynges that go well, yea foure are comely in goyng |
30:30 | A lion whiche is strongest among beastes, and shunneth not at the syght of any |
30:31 | A grayhounde strong in the hynder partes, a ramme also, and a king against whom no man aryseth vp |
30:32 | If thou hast done foolishly when thou wast in hye estate, or yf thou hast taken euyll counsayle, then lay thine hande vpon thy mouth |
30:33 | Who so chirneth mylke bringeth foorth butter, and he that rubbeth his nose, maketh it bleede: Euen so he that forceth wrath, bringeth foorth strife |

30:15 | The horse leache hath two daughters which crye, Giue, giue. There be three things that will not be satisfied: yea, foure that say not, It is ynough. |
30:16 | The graue, and the barren wombe, the earth that cannot be satisfied with water, and the fire that sayeth not, It is ynough. |
30:17 | The eye that mocketh his father and despiseth the instruction of his mother, let ye rauens of the valley picke it out, and the yong eagles eate it. |
30:18 | There be three thinges hid from me: yea, foure that I knowe not, |
30:19 | The way of an eagle in the aire, the way of a serpent vpon a stone, ye way of a ship in ye middes of the sea, and the way of a man with a maide. |
30:20 | Such is ye way also of an adulterous woman: she eateth and wipeth her mouth, and sayth, I haue not committed iniquitie. |
30:21 | For three things the earth is moued: yea, for foure it cannot susteine it selfe: |
30:22 | For a seruant when he reigneth, and a foole when he is filled with meate, |
30:23 | For the hatefull woman, when she is married, and for a handmaid that is heire to her mistres. |
30:24 | These be foure small things in the earth, yet they are wise and full of wisedome: |

30:31 | A lusty grayhound, and a goate, and a King against whom there is no rising vp. |
30:32 | If thou hast bene foolish in lifting thy selfe vp, and if thou hast thought wickedly, lay thine hand vpon thy mouth. |
30:33 | When one churneth milke, he bringeth foorth butter: and he that wringeth his nose, causeth blood to come out: so he that forceth wrath, bringeth foorth strife. |
