| 7:1 | It happened in the tyme of Ahaz the sonne of Iotham, which was the sonne of Uziah Kynge of Iuda: that Razin the Kynge of Syria, and Pechah the sonne of Romelyah, kynge of Israel: went vp toward Ierusalem to besege it, but Razin was not able to winne ye. |
| 7:2 | Now when the house of Dauid (that is Ahaz) herde worde therof, that Syria & Ephraim were confederate together: his herte quaked (yee and the hertes also of his people) lyke as whan a tree in the felde is moued with the wynde. |
| 7:3 | Then sayde God vnto Esay: go mete Ahaz (thou and thy sonne Sear Iasub) at the head of the ouer pole, in the fote path by the fullers grounde, |
| 7:4 | & saye vnto hym, take hede to thy selfe & be styll, but feare not, nether be faynt harted, for these two tayles: that is: for these two smokyng fyre brandes, the wrath and furiousnes of Razin the Syrian and Romelies sonne: |
| 7:5 | because that the kynge of Syria Ephraim and Romelies sonne haue wickedly conspyred agaynst the saying: |
| 7:6 | We wyll goo vp agaynst Iuda, vexe them, and brynge them vnder vs, and set a kynge there, euen the sonne of Tabeel |
| 7:7 | For thus sayeth the Lorde God therto, It shal not so goo forth, nether come so to passe: |
| 7:8 | for the head cytie of the Sirians is Damascus, but the head of Damascus is Rayzin. And after fyue & threscore yeare, shall Ephraim be no more a people. |
| 7:9 | And the chefe cytie of Ephraim is Samaria, but the head of Samaria is Romelies sonne. Yf ye beleue not: it commeth of thys: that ye are vnfaithfull to God. |
| 7:10 | Moreouer, God spake once agayne vnto Ahaz, sayinge, |
| 7:11 | requyre a token of the Lorde thy God, whether it be toward the depth beneth, or towarde the heygth aboue. |
| 7:12 | Then sayd Ahaz: I will requyre none, nether wyll I tempte the Lorde |
| 7:13 | The Lorde answered: Then heare to, ye of the house of Dauid: Is it not ynough for you that ye be greuous vnto men, but ye must greue my God also. |
| 7:14 | And therfore the Lord shall geue you a token: Behold, a vyrgin shall conceaue and beare a sonne, and (thou hys mother) shalt cal his name Emanuel. |
| 7:15 | Butter and hony shall he eate, that he maye knowe to refuse the euell, and chose the good. |
| 7:16 | For or euer the chyld come to knowledge, to eschue the euel and chose the good. The lande (that thou so Abhorrest) shalbe desolate of both her kynges. |
| 7:17 | The Lorde also shall sende a tyme vpon the, vpon thy people, & vpon thy fathers house (soch as neuer came sence the tyme that Ephraim departed from Iuda) thorowe the kynge of the Assirians. |
| 7:18 | For at the same tyme shall the Lord whystle for the flyes that are aboute the water of Egypt, and for the Bees in the Assirians lande. |
| 7:19 | These shall come, and shall lyght all in the desolate valeyes, in the holes of stones, vpon all thornye and bushye places. |
| 7:20 | At the same tyme shall the Lord shaue the heare of the head and the fete and the beerd cleane of, with the rasoure that he shall hyer beyonde the water: namely, with the kynge of the Assirians. |
| 7:21 | At the same tyme shall a man lyue with a kowe, and two shepe. |
| 7:22 | Then, because of the aboundaunce of mylck, he shall make butter & eate it. So that euery one which remayneth in the lande, shall eate butter and hony. |
| 7:23 | At the same tyme all vyneyardes (though there be a thousande vynes in one, & were solde for a thousande syluerlynges) shalbe turned to brears & thornes. |
| 7:24 | Lyke as they shall come in to the lande wt arowes & bowes, so shall all the lande be come brears and thornes. |
| 7:25 | And as for al hylles that are hewen downe, ther shall not come vpon them anye feare of brears & thornes. But the catell shal be dryuen thyther, and the shepe shall fede there. |
| 7:1 | And it was don in the daies of Achas, the sone of Joathan, the sone of Osias, kyng of Juda, Rasyn, the kyng of Sirie, and Facee, the sone of Romelie, the kyng of Israel, stieden to Jerusalem, for to fiyte ayens it; and thei myyten not ouercome it. |
| 7:2 | And thei telden to the hous of Dauid, and seiden, Sirie hath restid on Effraym, and the herte of hym and of his puple was mouyd togidere, as the trees of wodis ben mouyd of the face of the wynd. |
| 7:3 | And the Lord seide to Isaie, Go thou out, and Jasub, thi sone, which is left, in to the meetyng of Achas, at the laste ende of the water cundijt of the hiyere cisterne, in the weie of the feeld of the fullere. |
| 7:4 | And thou schalt seie to hym, Se thou, that thou be stille; nyle thou drede, and thin herte be not aferd of twei tailis of these brondis smokynge in the wraththe of woodnesse, of Rasyn, kynge of Sirie, and of the sone of Romelye. |
| 7:5 | For Sirie, and Effraym, and the sone of Romelie, han bigunne yuel councel ayens thee, and seien, Stie we to Juda, |
| 7:6 | and reise we hym, and drawe we hym out to vs; and sette we a kyng in the myddis therof, the sone of Tabeel. |
| 7:7 | The Lord God seith these thingis, This schal not be, and it schal not stonde; |
| 7:8 | but Damask schal be the heed of Sirie, and Rasyn `schal be the heed of Damask; and yit sixti yeer and fiue, and Effraym schal faile to be a puple; |
| 7:9 | and Samarie shal faile to be the heed of Effraym, and the sone of Romelie `schal faile to be heed of Samarie. Forsothe if ye schulen not bileue, ye schulen not dwelle. |
| 7:10 | And the Lord addide to speke to Achas, |
| 7:11 | and seide, Axe thou to thee a signe of thi Lord God, in to the depthe of helle, ethir in to heiythe aboue. |
| 7:12 | And Achas seide, Y schal not axe, and Y schal not tempte the Lord. |
| 7:13 | And Ysaie seide, Therfor the hous of Dauid, here ye; whether it is litil to you to be diseseful to men, for ye ben diseseful also to my God? |
| 7:14 | For this thing the Lord hym silf schal yyue a signe to you. Lo! a virgyn schal conseyue, and schal bere a sone; and his name schal be clepid Emanuel. |
| 7:15 | He schal ete botere and hony, that he kunne repreue yuel, and cheese good. |
| 7:16 | For whi bifore that the child kunne repreue yuel, and chese good, the lond, which thou wlatist, schal be forsakun of the face of her twei kyngis. |
| 7:17 | The Lord schal brynge on thee, and on thi puple, and on the hous of thi fadir, daies that camen not fro the daies of departyng of Effraym fro Juda, with the kyng of Assiriens. |
| 7:18 | And it schal be, in that dai the Lord schal hisse to a flie, which is in the laste parte of the floodis of Egipt; and to a bee, which is in the lond of Assur; |
| 7:19 | and `alle so schulen come, and schulen reste in the strondis of valeis, and in caues of stoonis, and in alle places of buyschis, and in alle hoolis. |
| 7:20 | And in that dai the Lord schal schaue with a scharp rasour in these men, that ben biyendis the flood, in the kyng of Assiriens, the heed, and heeris of the feet, and al the beerd. |
| 7:21 | And it schal be, in that day a man schal nurische a cow of oxis, and twei scheep, |
| 7:22 | and for the plentee of mylk he schal ete botere; for whi ech man that schal be left in the myddis of the lond, schal ete boter and hony. |
| 7:23 | And it schal be, in that dai ech place where a thousand vyneris schulen be worth a thousynde platis of siluer, and schulen be in to thornes and breeris, |
| 7:24 | men schulen entre thidur with bouwis and arowis; for whi breris and thornes schulen be in al the lond. |
| 7:25 | And alle hillis that schulen be purgid with a sarpe, the drede of thornes and of breris schal not come thidir; and it schal be in to lesewe of oxen, and in to treding of scheep. |

| 7:18 | For at the same tyme shal the LORDE whistle for the flyes yt are aboute the water of Egipte, and for ye Beyes in the Assirians londe. |
| 7:19 | These shall come, and shal light all in the valeyes, in ye vowtes of stone, vpon all grene thinges, and in all corners. |
| 7:20 | At the same tyme shal the LORDE shaue the hayre of the heade and the fete and the beerd clene of, with the rasoure that he shall paye them withall beyonde the water: namely, with ye kynge of the Assirians. |
| 7:21 | At the same tyme shall a man lyue with a cowe, and two shepe. |
| 7:22 | Then because of the aboundaunce of mylck, he shal make butter and eat it. So that euery one which remayneth in the londe, shal eate butter and hony. |
| 7:23 | At the same tyme all vynyardes (though there be a thousand vynes in one, and were solde for a thousand siluerlinges) shalbe turned to brears and thornes. |
| 7:24 | Like as they shal come in to the londe with arowes and bowes, so shal all the londe become brears and thornes. |
| 7:25 | And as for all hilles that now are hewen downe, thou shalt not come vpo them, for feare of brears and thornes. But the catel shalbe dryuen thither, and the shepe shal fede there. |
