Isaiah - Chapter: 19

>
19:1The burden of Egypt. Lo, Jehovah is riding on a swift thick cloud, And He hath entered Egypt, And moved have been the idols of Egypt at His presence, And the heart of Egypt melteth in its midst.
19:2And I armed Egyptians against Egyptians, And they fought, each against his brother, And each against his neighbour, City against city, kingdom against kingdom.
19:3And emptied out hath been in its midst the spirit of Egypt. And its counsel I swallow up, And they have sought unto the idols, And unto the charmers, And unto those having familiar spirits, And unto the wizards.
19:4And I have delivered the Egyptians Into the hand of a hard lord, And a strong king doth rule over them, An affirmation of the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts.
19:5And failed have waters from the sea, And a river is wasted and dried up.
19:6And they have turned away the flowings, Weak and dried up have been brooks of the bulwark, Reed and flag have withered.
19:7Exposed things by the brook, by the edge of the brook, And every sown thing of the brook, hath withered, It hath been driven away, and is not.
19:8And lamented have the fishers, And mourned have all casting angle into a brook, And those spreading nets on the face of the waters have languished.
19:9And ashamed have been makers of fine flax, And weavers of net-works.
19:10And its foundations have been smitten, All making wages `are' afflicted in soul.
19:11Only, fools `are' the princes of Zoan, The counsel of the wise ones of the counsellors of Pharaoh hath become brutish. How say ye unto Pharaoh, `A son of the wise am I, a son of kings of antiquity?'
19:12Where `are' they now, thy wise ones? Yea, let them tell to thee, I pray thee, And they know what Jehovah of Hosts hath counselled against Egypt!
19:13Foolish have been princes of Zoan, Lifted up have been princes of Noph, And they have caused Egypt to err, The chief of her tribes.
19:14Jehovah hath mingled in her midst A spirit of perverseness, And they have caused Egypt to err in all its work, As a drunkard erreth in his vomit.
19:15And there is no work to Egypt, That head or tail, branch or reed, may do.
19:16In that day is Egypt like women, And it hath mourned, and been afraid, Because of the waving of the hand of Jehovah of Hosts, That He is waving over it.
19:17And the land of Judah hath been to Egypt for a cause of staggering, Every one who doth mention it, for himself feareth, Because of the counsel of Jehovah of Hosts, That He is counselling against it.
19:18In that day there are five cities in the land of Egypt, Speaking the lip of Canaan, And swearing to Jehovah of Hosts, `The city of destruction,' is said of one.
19:19In that day there is an altar to Jehovah In the midst of the land of Egypt, And a standing pillar near its border to Jehovah,
19:20And it hath been for a sign and for a testimony, To Jehovah of Hosts in the land of Egypt, For they cry unto Jehovah from the face of oppressors, And He sendeth to them a saviour, Even a great one, and hath delivered them.
19:21And known hath been Jehovah to Egypt, And the Egyptians have known Jehovah in that day, And done sacrifice and present, And vowed a vow to Jehovah, and completed `it'.
19:22And Jehovah hath smitten Egypt, smiting and healing, And they have turned back unto Jehovah, And He hath been entreated of them, And hath healed them.
19:23In that day is a highway out of Egypt to Asshur, And come in have the Assyrians to Egypt, And the Egyptians into Asshur, And the Egyptians have served with the Assyrians.
19:24In that day is Israel third, After Egypt, and after Asshur, A blessing in the heart of the earth.
19:25In that Jehovah of Hosts did bless it, saying, `Blessed `is' My people -- Egypt, And the work of My hands -- Asshur, And Mine inheritance -- Israel!'

19:1The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
19:2And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.
19:3And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.
19:4And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
19:5And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.
19:6And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither.
19:7The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.
19:8The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.
19:9Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded.
19:10And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish.
19:11Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?
19:12Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.
19:13The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.
19:14The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.
19:15Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.
19:16In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.
19:17And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
19:18In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.
19:19In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.
19:20And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.
19:21And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it.
19:22And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.
19:23In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.
19:24In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:
19:25Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

19:1The burden of Egypt: Behold! Jehovah rides on a light cloud and comes into Egypt. And the idols of Egypt shall tremble from before Him; and the heart of Egypt shall melt in its midst.
19:2And I will stir up Egyptians against Egyptians; and they each man shall fight against his brother; and each against his neighbor; city against city, kingdom against kingdom.
19:3And the spirit of the Egyptians shall be empty in its midst; and I will swallow its counsel. And they shall seek to idols, and to the enchanters, and to the mediums, and to the knowing ones.
19:4And I will shut up the Egyptians into the hand of cruel lords; and a fierce king shall rule them, declares the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts.
19:5And the waters shall dry up from the sea, and the river shall fail and dry up.
19:6And rivers shall be fouled; and the Nile of Egypt will languish and dry up; the reed and the rush shall decay.
19:7Bare places shall be at the Nile, by the mouth of the Nile, and everything sown by the Nile shall dry up, driven away, and be no more.
19:8The fishermen shall mourn; and all who cast a hook into the Nile shall wall; and those who spread nets on the surface of the waters shall droop.
19:9And the workers in fine flax, and the weavers of white cloth are ashamed.
19:10And her supports shall be crushed; and all who make wages shall be sad of soul.
19:11Surely the rulers of Zoan are fools; the advice of Pharaoh's wise counselors has become stupid. How can you say to Pharaoh, I am the son of wise ones, the son of kings of old?
19:12Where are your wise ones now? Yea, let them tell you now, that they may know what Jehovah of Hosts has planned against Egypt.
19:13The rulers of Zoan are fools; the rulers of Noph are deceived; they also have led Egypt astray, the cornerstone of her tribes.
19:14Jehovah has mixed a perverse spirit in her midst; and they led astray Egypt in all his work; as a drunkard strays in his vomit.
19:15And Egypt shall have no work that the head or the tail, the branch or rush, may do.
19:16In that day Egypt shall be like women; and it will tremble and dread from before the shaking of the hand of Jehovah of Hosts, which He shakes over it.
19:17And the land of Judah shall be a terror to Egypt; everyone who mentions it shall dread to it, from before the purpose of Jehovah of Hosts, which He purposes against it.
19:18In that day five cities in the land of Egypt shall speak the language of Canaan, and swear to Jehovah of Hosts. One shall be called, City of Ruin.
19:19Then an altar to Jehovah shall be in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to Jehovah at its border.
19:20And it shall be for a sign and for a witness to Jehovah of Hosts in the land of Egypt. For they shall cry to Jehovah because of the oppressors; and He shall send them a deliverer, even a great one, and will deliver them.
19:21And Jehovah shall be known to Egypt. Egypt shall know Jehovah in that day. And they shall offer sacrifice and offering, and vow a vow to Jehovah, and repay it .
19:22And Jehovah shall strike Egypt. He shall strike and heal. Then they shall return to Jehovah, and He shall hear them, and shall heal them.
19:23In that day there shall be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria. And Assyria shall come into Egypt; and Egypt into Assyria; and Egypt shall serve with Assyria.
19:24In that day Israel shall be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth,
19:25whom Jehovah of Hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be My people Egypt, and Assyria, the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.
