| 63:1 | What is he thys, that cometh from Edom, wt redd coloured clothes of Bosra: (which is so costly cloth) & cometh in so myghtylye wt all his strength. I am he that teacheth ryghtuousnes, & am of power to helpe. |
| 63:2 | Wherfore then is thy clothynge read, & thy rayment lyke his that treadeth in the wyne presse? |
| 63:3 | I haue troaden the presse my selfe alone, and of all people there is not one with me. Thus wyll I treade downe myne enemyes in my wrath, and set my fete vpon them in my indignacyon. And their bloude shalbe spronge vpon my cloothes, and so wyll I stayne all my rayment. |
| 63:4 | For the daye of vengeaunce is assigned in my hert, & the yeare when my people shall be delyuered, is come. |
| 63:5 | I loked aboute me, and there was no man to shewe me eny helpe, I maruayled that no man helde me vp. Then I helde me by myne awne arme, & my feruentnesse susteyned me. |
| 63:6 | And thus will I treade downe the people in my wrath, & bathe them in my displeasure: and vpon the earth will I laye their strength. |
| 63:7 | I will declare the goodnesse of the Lord, ye and the prayse of the Lorde for all that he hath geuen vs, for the greate good that he hath done for Israell: which he hath gyuen them of his awne fauoure, & accordynge to the multitude of his louynge kindnesses. |
| 63:8 | For he sayde: These no doute are my people, & no shrinkynge chyldren, and so he was their sauyoure. |
| 63:9 | In their troubles he was also troubled wt them, and the angell that went forth from hys presence, delyuered them: Of very loue & kyndnesse that he had vnto them, redemed he them. He hath borne them, and caryed them vp euer, sence the worlde beganne. |
| 63:10 | But after they prouoked him to wrath & vexed his holy mynde he was their enemye, & fought agaynst them him selfe. |
| 63:11 | Yet remembred Israell the olde tyme of Moses & his people. sayinge wher is he that brought them from the water of the see, with them that fead his shepe? where is he that hath geuen his holy sprete amonge them? |
| 63:12 | he ledd them by the ryght hande of Moses with hys glorious arme: deuidinge the water before them (wherby he gat him selfe an euerlastinge name) |
| 63:13 | he led them in the depe, as an horse is led in the playne, that they shulde not stomble, |
| 63:14 | as a tame beast goeth in the felde: and the breath gyuen of God gyueth him rest. Thus (O God) hast thou led thy people, to make thy selfe a glorious name with all. |
| 63:15 | Loke downe then from heauen, & beholde the dwellynge place of thy sanctuary & thy glory. Howe is it, that thy gelousy, thy strength, the multitude of thy mercyes & thy louynge kyndnesse, wyll not be entreated of vs? |
| 63:16 | Yet art thou our father. For Abraham knoweth vs not, nether is Israel acquaynted wt vs. But thou Lorde art our father & redemer, & thy name is euerlastynge. |
| 63:17 | O Lorde, wherfore hast thou led vs out of thy waye: Wherfore hast thou hardened our hertes, that we feare the not? Be at one wt vs agayne, for thy seruauntes sake and for the generacyon of thyne herytage. |
| 63:18 | Thy people hath had but lytle of thy Sanctuary in possessyon, for oure enemyes haue troden downe the holy place. |
| 63:19 | And we were thyne from the begynnynge: when thou wast not their Lorde, for they haue not called vpon thy name. |
| 63:1 | Who is this that cometh fro Edom, in died clothis fro Bosra? this fair man in his `long cloth, goynge in the multitude of his vertu? Y that speke riytfulnesse, and am a forfiytere for to saue. |
| 63:2 | Whi therfor is thi clothing reed? and thi clothis ben as of men stampynge in a pressour? |
| 63:3 | Y aloone stampide the presse, and of folkis no man is with me; Y stampide hem in my stronge veniaunce, and Y defoulide hem in my wraththe; and her blood is spreynt on my clothis, and Y made foul alle my clothis. |
| 63:4 | For whi a dai of veniaunce is in myn herte, and the yeer of my yeldyng cometh. |
| 63:5 | I lokide aboute, and noon helpere was; Y souyte, and noon was that helpide; and myn arm sauyde to me, and myn indignacioun, that helpide me. |
| 63:6 | And Y defoulide puplis in my stronge veniaunce; and Y made hem drunkun in myn indignacioun, and Y drow doun her vertu in to erthe. |
| 63:7 | I schal haue mynde on the merciful doyngis of the Lord, Y schal preche the heriyng of the Lord on alle thingis whiche the Lord yeldide to vs, and on the multitude `of goodis of the hous of Israel, whiche he yaf to hem bi his foryyuenesse, and bi the multitude of hise mercies. |
| 63:8 | And the Lord seide, Netheles it is my puple, sones not denyynge, and he was maad a sauyour to hem in al the tribulacioun of hem. |
| 63:9 | It was not set in tribulacioun, and the aungel of his face sauyde hem. In his loue and in his foryyuenesse he ayenbouyte hem, and he bar hem, and reiside hem in alle daies of the world. |
| 63:10 | Forsothe thei excitiden hym to wrathfulnesse, and turmentiden the spirit of his hooli; and he was turned in to an enemye to hem, and he ouercam hem in batel. |
| 63:11 | And he hadde mynde on the daies of the world, of Moises, and of his puple. Where is he, that ledde hem out of the see, with the scheepherdis of his floc? Where is he, that settide the spirit of his holi in the myddil therof; |
| 63:12 | whiche ledde out Moises to the riyt half in the arm of his maieste? which departide watris bifore hem, that he schulde make to hym silf a name euerlastynge; |
| 63:13 | whiche ledde hem out thoruy depthis of watris, as an hors not stumblynge in desert, |
| 63:14 | as a beeste goynge doun in the feeld? The Spirit of the Lord was the ledere therof; so thou leddist thi puple, that thou madist to thee a name of glorie. |
| 63:15 | Biholde thou fro heuene, and se fro thin hooli dwellyng place, and fro the seete of thi glorie. Where is thi feruent loue, and thi strengthe, the multitude of thin entrailis, and of thi merciful doyngis? |
| 63:16 | Tho withelden hem silf on me. Forsothe thou art oure fadir, and Abraham knew not vs, and Israel knew not vs. |
| 63:17 | Thou, Lord, art oure fadir, and oure ayenbiere; thi name is fro the world. Lord, whi hast thou maad vs to erre fro thi weies? thou hast made hard oure herte, that we dredden not thee? be thou conuertid, for thi seruauntis, the lynages of thin eritage. |
| 63:18 | Thei hadden as nouyt thin hooli puple in possessioun, and oure enemyes defouliden thin halewyng. |
| 63:19 | We ben maad as in the bigynnyng, whanne thou were not Lord of vs, nethir thi name was clepid to help on vs. |

| 63:6 | And thus haue I troden downe the people in my wrath, and bathed them in my displeasure: In so moch that I haue shed their bloude vpon the earth. |
| 63:7 | I will declare the goodnesse of the LORDE, yee and the prayse of the LORDE for all that he hath gyuen vs, for the greate good yt he hath done for Israel: which he hath gyuen them of his owne fauoure, & acordinge to the multitude of his louynge kindnesses. |
| 63:8 | For he sayde: These no doute wilbe my people, and no shrekinge children, and so he was their Sauioure. |
| 63:9 | In their troubles he forsoke the not, but the angel that went forth from his presence, delyuered them: Of very loue & kindnesse that he had vnto them, redemed he them. He hath borne them, and caried them vp euer, sence the worlde begane. |
| 63:10 | But after they prouoked him to wrath and vexed his holy minde, he was their enemie, and fought agaynst them him self. |
| 63:11 | Yet remebred he the olde tyme, of Moses & his people: How he brought them from the water of the see, as a shepherde doth with his shepe: how he had geuen his holy sprete amonge them: |
| 63:12 | how he had led Moses by the right honde with his glorious arme: how he had deuyded the water before them (wherby he gat him self an euerlastinge name) |
| 63:13 | how he led them in the depe, as an horse is led in the playne, that they shulde not stomble. |
| 63:14 | The sprete of the LORDE led them, as a tame beast goeth in the felde. Thus (o God) hast thou led thy people, to make thy self a glorious name with all. |
| 63:15 | Loke downe then from heaue, and beholde the dwellinge place of thy sanctuary & thy glory. How is it, yt thy gelousy, thy strength, the multitude of thy mercies and thy louynge kyndnesse, wyl not be entreated of vs? |
| 63:16 | Yet art thou or father: For Abraham knoweth vs not, nether is Israel acquanted with vs. But thou LORDE art oure father and redemer, and thy name is euer lastinge. |
| 63:17 | O LORDE wherfore hast thou led vs out of thy waye? wherfore hast thou hardened oure hertes, that we feare the not? Be at one with vs agayne, for thy seruauntes sake yt are of the generacio of thy heretage. |
| 63:18 | Thy people hath had but litle of thy Sanctuary in possessio, for oure enemies haue take it in: |
| 63:19 | And we are become, euen as we were from the beginnynge: but thou art not their LORDE, for they haue not called vpon thy name. |
