Jeremiah - Chapter: 21

>
21:1The word which came vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, when king Zedekiah sent vnto him Pashur the sonne of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the sonne of Maaseiah the priest, saying;
21:2Enquire, I pray thee, of the Lord for vs (for Nebuchad-rezzar king of Babylon maketh warre against vs) if so be that the Lord will deale with vs, according to all his wondrous workes, that he may goe vp from vs.
21:3Then saide Ieremiah vnto them. Thus shall yee say to Zedekiah,
21:4Thus saith the Lord God of Israel; Behold, I will turne backe the weapons of warre that are in your hands, wherewith yee fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Caldeans, which besiege you without the walles, and I will assemble them into the middest of this citie.
21:5And I myselfe will fight against you with an out stretched hand, and with a strong arme, euen in anger, and in furie, and in great wrath.
21:6And I will smite the inhabitants of this citie both man and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.
21:7And afterward, saith the Lord, I will deliuer Zedekiah king of Iudah, and his seruants, and the people, and such as are left in this citie from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those that seeke their life, and and he shall smite them with the edge of the sword: hee shall not spare them, neither haue pitie, nor haue mercy.
21:8And vnto this people thou shalt say; Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
21:9He that abideth in this citie, shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Caldeans, that besiege you, he shall liue, and his life shall be vnto him, for a pray.
21:10For I haue set my face against this citie for euill and not for good, saith the Lord; it shall be giuen into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burne it with fire.
21:11And touching the house of the king of Iudah, say; Heare yee the word of the Lord.
21:12Oh house of Dauid, thus saith the Lord, Execute iudgement in the morning, and deliuer him that is spoiled, out of the hand of the oppressour, lest my furie goe out like fire, and burne, that none can quench it, because of the euill of your doings.
21:13Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rocke of the plaine, saith the Lord, which say, Who shall come downe against vs? or who shall enter into our habitations?
21:14But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the Lord: and I will kindle a fire in the forrest thereof, and it shall deuoure all things round about it.

21:1The worde which came vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, when king Zedekiah sent vnto him Pashur, the sonne of Malchiah, and Zephaniah, the sonne of Maaseiah the Priest, saying,
21:2Inquire, I pray thee, of the Lord for vs, (for Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel maketh warre against vs) if so be that the Lord will deale with vs according to all his wonderous workes, that he may returne vp from vs.
21:3Then said Ieremiah, Thus shall you say to Zedekiah,
21:4Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Behold, I will turne backe the weapons of warre that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the King of Babel, and against the Caldeans, which besiege you without the walles, and I will assemble them into the middes of this citie.
21:5And I my selfe will fight against you with an outstretched hand, and with a mighty arme, eue in anger and in wrath, and in great indignation.
21:6And I will smite the inhabitants of this citie, both man, and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.
21:7And after this, sayeth the Lord, I will deliuer Zedekiah the King of Iudah, and his seruants, and the people, and such as are left in this citie, from the pestilence, from the sworde and from the famine into the hande of Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel, and into the hande of their enemies, and into the hande of those that seeke their liues, and he shall smite them with the edge of the sworde: he shall not spare them, neither haue pitie nor compassion.
21:8And vnto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
21:9He that abideth in this citie, shall dye by the sword and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Caldeans, that besiege you, he shall liue, and his life shalbe vnto him for a pray.
21:10For I haue set my face against this citie, for euill and not for good, saith the Lord: it shalbe giuen into the hande of the King of Babel, and he shall burne it with fire.
21:11And say vnto the house of the King of Iudah, Heare ye the worde of the Lord.
21:12O house of Dauid, thus saith the Lord, Execute iudgement in the morning, and deliuer the oppressed out of the hande of the oppressor, lest my wrath go out like fire and burne, that none can quench it, because of the wickednes of your workes.
21:13Beholde, I come against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rocke of the plaine, saith the Lord, which say, Who shall come downe against vs? or who shall enter into our habitations?
21:14But I will visite you according to the fruite of your workes, saith the Lord, and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall deuoure rounde about it.

21:1These are the wordes that the Lorde spake vnto Ieremy what tyme as kyng Zedekiah sent vnto him Phashur the sonne of Melchias, and Sophonias the sonne of Maasias preste, sayinge.
21:2Aske councell at the Lorde (we praye the) of our behalfe, for Nabuchodonosor the kynge of Babilon besegeth vs, yf the Lorde (peraduenture) will deale with vs, accordynge to his maruelous power, & take him from vs.
21:3Then spake Ieremy. Geue Zedekias this answere.
21:4Thus sayeth the Lorde God of Israel: beholde, I wil turne backe the weapens that ye haue in youre handes, wherwith ye fyght agaynst the kynge of Babylon & the Caldees, which besege you round aboute the walles, and I will bringe them together into the myddest of this cytie,
21:5& I my selfe wyll fyght against you, with an outstretched hande, & with a myghtie arme, in great displeasure and terrible wrath:
21:6& wyll smyte them, that dwel in this citie: yee, both men and catell shall dye of a great pestilence.
21:7And after this (sayeth the Lorde) I shal deliuer Zedekias the kinge of Iuda, and his seruauntes, his people (and soch as are escaped in the citie, from the pestilence, swearde and honger) into the power of Nabuchodonosor kynge of Babylon: yee, into the handes of theyr enemyes, into the handes of those that folowe vpon their lyues, which shall smyte them with the swearde, they shal not pytie them, they shall not spare them, they shall haue no mercy vpon them.
21:8And vnto this people thou shalt saye. Thus sayeth the Lorde: beholde, I laye before you the waye of lyfe & deeth.
21:9Who so abydeth in this cytie, shall perish: ether with the swearde, wyth honger, or wyth pestilence. But who so goeth out to holde on the Chaldees parte, that besege it, he shall saue hys lyfe & shall wynne his soule for a pray.
21:10For I haue set my face agaynst this cytie (sayeth the Lorde) to plage it, and to do it no good. It must be geuen into the hande of the king of Babylon, and be brent with fyre.
21:11And vnto the house of the kyng of Iuda, saye thus: Heare the worde of the Lord
21:12(O thou house of Dauid) for thus saith the Lord: Minister ryghteousnes, and that soone, delyuer the oppressed from violent power or euer my terryble wrath breake out lyke a fyre, and burne so, that no man maye quench it, because of the wyckednes of youre ymaginacions.
21:13Beholde (sayeth the Lorde) I will come vpon you, that dwell in the valleyes, rockes and feldes, and saye. Tush: who will make vs afrayed? or who will come into oure houses?
21:14For I wyll vyset you (saieth the Lorde) because of the wickednes of your inuencions, and wyll kyndle soche a fyre in youre wood, as shall consume al that is aboute you.
