| 26:1 | In the beginning of the reigne of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah king of Iudah, came this word from the Lord, saying; |
| 26:2 | Thus saith the Lord, Stand in the Court of the Lords house, and speake vnto all the cities of Iudah, which come to worship in the Lords house, all the wordes that I command thee to speake vnto them: diminish not a word; |
| 26:3 | If so bee they will hearken, and turne euery man from his euill way, that I may repent me of the euil which I purpose to doe vnto them, because of the euil of their doings. |
| 26:4 | And thou shalt say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord; If yee will not hearken to mee to walke in my Law, which I haue set before you, |
| 26:5 | To hearken to the wordes of my seruants the Prophets, whom I sent vnto you, both rising vp early and sending them, (but ye haue not hearkned:) |
| 26:6 | Then wil I make this house like Shiloh, and wil make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth. |
| 26:7 | So the priests and the prophets, and all the people heard Ieremiah speaking these wordes in the house of the Lord. |
| 26:8 | Now it came to passe when Ieremiah had made an ende of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speake vnto all the people, that the priests and the prophets, and all the people tooke him, saying; Thou shalt surely die. |
| 26:9 | Why hast thou prophecied in the Name of the Lord, saying, This house shalbe like Shiloh, and this city shalbe desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Ieremiah in the house of the Lord. |
| 26:10 | When the Princes of Iudah heard these things, then they came vp from the kings house vnto the house of the Lord, and sate downe in the entrie of the new gate of the Lords house. |
| 26:11 | Then spake the priests and the prophets vnto the Princes, and to all the people, saying; This man is worthy to die, for he hath prophecied against this citie, as yee haue heard with your eares. |
| 26:12 | Then spake Ieremiah vnto all the Princes, and to all the people, saying, The Lord sent me to prophecie against this house, and against this citie, all the wordes that yee haue heard. |
| 26:13 | Therefore nowe amend your wayes, and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God, and the Lord will repent him of the euill that he hath pronounced against you. |
| 26:14 | As for mee, behold, I am in your hand: doe with mee as seemeth good and meet vnto you. |
| 26:15 | But know ye for certaine, That if ye put mee to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood vpon your selues, and vpon this citie, and vpon the inhabitants thereof: for of a trueth the Lord hath sent mee vnto you, to speake all these words in your eares. |
| 26:16 | Then said the Princes, and all the people, vnto the priests, and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for hee hath spoken to vs in the Name of the Lord our God. |
| 26:17 | Then rose vp certaine of the Elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying; |
| 26:18 | Micah the Morashite prophecied in the dayes of Hezekiah king of Iudah, and spake to all the people of Iudah, saying; Thus saith the Lord of hostes, Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Ierusalem shall become heapes, and the mountaine of the house, the hie places of a forrest. |
| 26:19 | Did Hezekiah King of Iudah and all Iudah put him at all to death? did hee not feare the Lord, and besought the Lord, and the Lord repented him of the euill which he had pronounced against them? thus might wee procure great euill against our soules. |
| 26:20 | And there was also a man that prophecied in the Name of the Lord, Urijah the sonne of Shemaiah of Kiriath-iearim, who prophecied against this citie and against this land, according to all the words of Ieremiah. |
| 26:21 | And when Iehoiakim the king with all his mightie men, and all the princes heard his wordes, the king sought to put him to death; but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid and fled, and went into Egypt. |
| 26:22 | And Iehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely Elnathan the sonne of Achbor, and certeine men with him, into Egypt. |
| 26:23 | And they fet foorth Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him vnto Iehoiakim the king, who slewe him with the sword, and cast his dead body into the graues of the common people. |
| 26:24 | Neuerthelesse, the hand of Ahikam, the sonne of Shaphan, was with Ieremiah, that they should not giue him into the hand of the people, to put him to death. |
| 26:1 | In the beginning of the reigne of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah, came this worde from the Lord, saying, |

| 26:3 | If so be they will hearken, and turne euery man from his euill way, that I may repent me of the plague, which I haue determined to bring vpon them, because of the wickednesse of their workes. |
| 26:4 | And thou shalt say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord, If ye will not heare me to walke in my Lawes, which I haue set before you, |
| 26:5 | And to heare ye wordes of my seruants the Prophets, whome I sent vnto you, both rising vp earely, and sending them, and will not obey them, |
| 26:6 | Then will I make this House like Shiloh, and will make this citie a curse to all the nations of the earth. |
| 26:7 | So the Priestes, and the Prophets, and all the people heard Ieremiah speaking these wordes in the House of the Lord. |
| 26:8 | Nowe when Ieremiah had made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speake vnto all the people, then the Priestes, and the prophets, and all the people tooke him, and saide, Thou shalt die the death. |
| 26:9 | Why hast thou prophecied in the Name of the Lord, saying, This House shall be like Shiloh, and this citie shalbe desolate without an inhabitant? and all the people were gathered against Ieremiah in the House of the Lord. |
| 26:10 | And when the princes of Iudah heard of these things, they came vp from the Kings house into the House of the Lord, and sate downe in the entrie of the new gate of the Lords House. |

| 26:12 | Then spake Ieremiah vnto all the princes, and to al the people, saying, The Lord hath sent me to prophecie against this house and against this citie all the things that ye haue heard. |

| 26:14 | As for me, beholde, I am in your hands: do with me as ye thinke good and right. |
| 26:15 | But knowe ye for certaine, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood vpon your selues, and vpon this citie, and vpon the inhabitants thereof: for of a trueth the Lord hath sent me vnto you, to speake all these words in your eares. |
| 26:16 | Then saide the princes and all the people vnto the Priestes, and to the prophets, This man is not worthie to die: for he hath spoken vnto vs in the Name of the Lord our God. |
| 26:17 | Then rose vp certaine of the Elders of the lande, and spake to all the assemblie of the people, saying, |

| 26:19 | Did Hezekiah King of Iudah, and all Iudah put him to death? did he not feare ye Lord, and prayed before the Lord, and the Lord repented him of the plague, that he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great euill against our soules. |
| 26:20 | And there was also a man that prophecied in the Name of the Lord, one Vriiah the sonne of Shemaiah, of Kiriath-iarem, who prophecied against this citie, and against this lande, according to all the wordes of Ieremiah. |
| 26:21 | Nowe when Iehoiakim the King with all his men of power, and all the princes heard his wordes, the King sought to slay him. But when Vriiah heard it, he was afraide and fled, and went into Egypt. |
| 26:22 | Then Iehoiakim the King sent men into Egypt, euen Elnathan the sonne of Achbor, and certaine with him into Egypt. |

| 26:3 | yf peraduenture they wyll herken, and turne euery man from hys wycked waye: that I maye also repente of the plage, which I haue determyned to brynge vpon them, because of theyr wicked inuencyons. |
| 26:4 | And after thys maner shalt thou speake vnto them: Thus sayth the Lorde: yf ye will not obey me, to walke in my lawes, which I haue geuen you, |
| 26:5 | and to heare the wordes of my seruauntes the prophetes, whom I sent vnto you, rysynge vp tymely, and styll sendynge. If ye wyll not folowe them (I saye) |
| 26:6 | then I wyll do to thys house as I dyd vnto Siloh, and wyll make thys citye to be abhorred of all the people of the earth. |
| 26:7 | And the preastes, the prophetes and all the people hearde Ieremy preache these wordes, in the house of the Lorde. |
| 26:8 | Nowe when he had spoken out all the wordes that the Lorde commaunded him to preach vnto the people, then the prestes, the prophetes and all the people toke holde vpon him, and sayde: thou shalt dye. |
| 26:9 | Howe darest thou be so bolde, as to saye in the name of the Lorde, it shall happen to thys house as it dyd vnto Siloh: and thys citye shalbe so waste, that no man shall dwell therin? |
| 26:10 | And when all the people were gathered about Ieremy in the house of the Lorde, the princes of Iuda hearde of this rumour, and they came soone oute of the kynges palace, into the house of the Lord: and sat them downe before the newe dore of the Lorde. |
| 26:11 | Then spake the prestes and the prophetes vnto the rulers and to all the people, these wordes: Thys man is worthy to dye, for he hath preached agaynst thys citye, as ye youre selues haue hearde with your eares. |
| 26:12 | Then sayde Ieremy vnto the rulers and to all the people: The Lorde hath sent me to preache agaynst this house and agaynst this cytie all the wordes that ye haue heard. |
| 26:13 | Therfore amende youre wayes, and youre aduysementes, and be obedient vnto the voyce of the Lorde youre God: so shall the Lorde repente of the plage, that he hath deuised agaynst you. |
| 26:14 | Nowe as for me: I am in your handes, do with me, as ye thynke expedient and good. |
| 26:15 | But this shall ye knowe: yf ye put me to death, ye shall make youre selues, thys citye and all the inhabytours therof, gyltye of innocent bloude. For thys is of a trueth that the Lorde hath sent me vnto you, to speake all these wordes in youre eares. |

| 26:19 | Dyd Ezekiah the kynge of Iuda, and the people of Iuda put hym to death for this? No verely: but rather feared the Lord, and made theyr prayer vnto hym. For the which cause also the Lorde repented of the plage, that he had deuysed agaynst them. Shulde we then do soch a shamefull dede agaynst oure soules? |
| 26:20 | There was a prophete also, that preached styfly in the name of the Lorde, called Uriah the sonne of Semeiah of Cariathiarim: this man preached also agaynst this citye and agaynst this lande, according to all as Ieremy sayth. |
| 26:21 | Nowe when Iehoakim the kinge with all the estates & prynces had hearde hys wordes, the kynge went about to slaye hym. When Uriah perceaued that, he was afrayed, and fledd, and departed into Egipte. |
| 26:22 | Then Iehoakim the kinge sent seruauntes into the lande of Egypt, namely Elnathan the sonne of Achbor, and certayne men with hym into Egipt, |
| 26:23 | which fetched Uriah out of Egipt, and brought him vnto kynge Iehoakim, that slewe him with the sweard, and cast hys deed bodye into the comen peoples graue. |
| 26:24 | But Ahikam the sonne of Saphan helped Ieremye, that he came not into the handes of the people to be slayne. |
