Jeremiah - Chapter: 32

>
32:1The worde that came to Ieremiah from the Lord in the tenth yeere of Zedekiah king of Iudah, which was the eighteenth yeere of Nebuchad-rezzar.
32:2For then the king of Babylons armie besieged Ierusalem: and Ieremiah the prophet was shut vp in the court of the prison which was in the king of Iudahs house.
32:3For Zedekiah king of Iudah had shut him vp, saying, Wherefore doest thou prophecie and say, Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will giue this citie into the hand of the king of Babylon, and hee shall take it?
32:4And Zedekiah king of Iudah, shal not escape out of the hand of the Caldeans, but shall surely be deliuered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shal speake with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes.
32:5And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be vntill I visit him, saith the Lord: though ye fight with the Caldeans, yee shall not prosper.
32:6And Ieremiah said; The word of the Lord came vnto me, saying;
32:7Behold, Hanameel the sonne of Shallum thine vncle, shall come vnto thee, saying; Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.
32:8So Hanameel mine vncles sonne came to me in the court of the prison, according to the word of the Lord, and said vnto me; Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the countrey of Beniamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine, buy it for thy selfe. Then I knew that this was the word of the Lord.
32:9And I bought the field of Hanameel my vncles sonne, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, euen seuenteene shekels of siluer.
32:10And I subscribed the euidence, and sealed it, and tooke witnesses, and weighed him the money in the ballances.
32:11So I tooke the euidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custome, and that which was open.
32:12And I gaue the euidence of the purchase vnto Baruch the sonne of Neriah, the sonne of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine vncles sonne, and in the presence of the witnesses, that subscribed the booke of the purchase, before all the Iewes that sate in the court of the prison.
32:13And I charged Baruch before them, saying,
32:14Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel; Take these euidences, this euidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this euidence which is open, and put them in an earthen vessell, that they may continue many daies.
32:15For thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel; Houses and fields, and Uineyards shalbe possessed againe in this land.
32:16Now when I had deliuered the euidence of the purchase vnto Baruch the sonne of Neriah, I prayed vnto the Lord, saying,
32:17Ah Lord God, beholde, thou hast made the heauen and the earth by thy great power & stretched out arme, and there is nothing too hard for thee.
32:18Thou shewest louing kindnesse vnto thousands, and recompensest the iniquitie of the fathers into the bosome of their children after them: the great, the mightie God, the Lord of hosts is his Name,
32:19Great in counsell, and mightie in worke, (for thine eyes are open vpon all the wayes of the sonnes of men, to giue euery one according to his wayes, and according to the fruit of his doings)
32:20Which hast set signes and wonders in the land of Egypt, euen vnto this day, and in Israel, and amongst other men, and hast made thee a Name, as at this day,
32:21And hast brought foorth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt, with signes and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arme, and with great terrour,
32:22And hast giuen them this land which thou didst sweare to their fathers to giue them a land flowing with milke and honie.
32:23And they came in and possessed it, but they obeied not thy voice, neither walked in thy Law, they haue done nothing of all that thou commaundedst them to doe: therefore thou hast caused all this euill to come vpon them.
32:24Beholde the mounts, they are come vnto the citie to take it, and the citie is giuen into the hand of the Caldeans that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence, and what thou hast spoken is come to passe, and behold, thou seest it.
32:25And thou hast said vnto mee, O Lord God, buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses: for the citie is giuen into the hand of the Caldeans.
32:26Then came the word of the Lord vnto Ieremiah, saying,
32:27Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: Is there any thing too hard for me?
32:28Therfore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will giue this citie into the hand of the Caldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchad-rezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it.
32:29And the Caldeans that fight against this citie, shall come and set fire on this citie, and burne it with the houses vpon whose roofes they haue offered incense vnto Baal, and powred out drinke offerings vnto other Gods to prouoke me to anger.
32:30For the children of Israel, and the children of Iudah, haue onely done euill before me from their youth: for the children of Israel haue onely prouoked mee to anger with the worke of their hands, sayth the Lord.
32:31For this citie hath beene to me, as a prouocation of mine anger, and of my furie, from the day that they built it, euen vnto this day; that I should remooue it from before my face:
32:32Because of all the euill of the children of Israel, and of the children of Iudah, which they haue done to prouoke mee to anger, they, their kings, their Princes, their Priestes, and their Prophets, and the men of Iudah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem.
32:33And they haue turned vnto mee the backe, and not the face, though I taught them rising vp early, and teaching them, yet they haue not hearkened to receiue instruction,
32:34But they set their abominations in the house (which is called by my Name) to defile it.
32:35And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the sonne of Hinnom, to cause their sonnes and their daughters to passe through the fire vnto Molech, which I commanded them not, neither came it into my minde, that they should doe this abomination, to cause Iudah to sinne.
32:36And now therefore, thus sayth the Lord the God of Israel concerning this citie, whereof ye say, It shall be deliuered into the hand of the king of Babylon, by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence:
32:37Behold, I wil gather them out of all countreys, whither I haue driuen them in mine anger, and in my furie, and in great wrath, and I will bring them againe vnto this place; and I will cause them to dwell safely.
32:38And they shalbe my people, and I will be their God.
32:39And I will giue them one heart, and one way, that they may feare mee for euer, for the good of them, and of their children after them.
32:40And I will make an euerlasting couenant with them, that I will not turne away from them, to doe them good, but I will put my feare in their hearts, that they shall not depart from mee.
32:41Yea, I will reioyce oner them to doe them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly, with my whole heart, and with my whole soule.
32:42For thus sayth the Lord, Like as I haue brought all this great euill vpon this people, so will I bring vpon them all the good that I haue promised them.
32:43And fields shalbe bought in this land whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast, it is giuen into the hand of the Caldeans.
32:44Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe euidences, and seale them, and take witnesses in the land of Beniamin, and in the places about Ierusalem, and in the cities of Iudah, and in the cities of the mountaines, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the South: for I will cause their captiuitie to returne, saith the Lord.

32:1The worde that came vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, in the tenth yere of Zedekiah king of Iudah, which was the eightenth yeere of Nebuchad-nezzar.
32:2For then the King of Babels hoste besieged Ierusalem: And Ieremiah the Prophet was shutte vp in the court of the prison, which was in the King of Iudahs house.
32:3For Zedekiah King of Iudah had shut him vp, saying, Wherefore doest thou prophesie, and say, Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I will giue this citie into the handes of the King of Babel, and he shall take it?
32:4And Zedekiah the King of Iudah shall not escape out of the hande of the Caldeans, but shall surely be deliuered into the handes of the King of Babel, and shall speake with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall beholde his face,
32:5And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babel, and there shall he be, vntil I visit him, saith ye Lord: though ye fight with the Caldeans, ye shall not prosper.
32:6And Ieremiah said, The word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
32:7Beholde, Hanameel, the sonne of Shallum thine vncle, shall come vnto thee and say, Bye vnto thee my fielde, that is in Anathoth: for the title by kindred appertaineth vnto thee to bye it.
32:8So Hanameel, mine vncles sonne, came to mee in the court of the prison, according to the word of the Lord, and said vnto me, Bye my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the countrey of Beniamin: for the right of the possession is thine, and the purchase belongeth vnto thee: bye it for thee. Then I knewe that this was the worde of the Lord.
32:9And I bought the field of Hanameel, mine vncles sonne, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the siluer, euen seuen shekels, and tenne pieces of siluer.
32:10And I writ it in the booke and signed it, and tooke witnesses, and weighed him the siluer in the balances.
32:11So I tooke the booke of the possession, being sealed according to the Lawe, and custome, with the booke that was open,
32:12And I gaue the booke of the possession vnto Baruch the sonne of Neriah, the sonne of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine vncles sonne, and in the presence of the witnesses, written in the booke of the possession, before al the Iewes that sate in the court of the prison.
32:13And I charged Baruch before them, saying,
32:14Thus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Take the writings, euen this booke of the possession, both that is sealed, and this booke that is open, and put them in an earthen vessell, that they may continue a long time.
32:15For the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel saith thus, Houses and fieldes, and vineyardes shall be possessed againe in this land.
32:16Now when I had deliuered the booke of the possession vnto Baruch, the sonne of Neriah, I prayed vnto the Lord, saying,
32:17Ah Lord God, beholde, thou hast made the heauen and the earth by thy great power, and by thy stretched out arme, and there is nothing hard vnto thee.
32:18Thou shewest mercie vnto thousands, and recompensest the iniquitie of the fathers into the bosome of their children after them: O God the great and mightie, whose Name is ye Lord of hostes,
32:19Great in counsell, and mightie in worke, (for thine eyes are open vpon all the wayes of ye sonnes of men, to giue to euery one according to his wayes, and according to the fruite of his workes)
32:20Which hast set signes and wonders in the land of Egypt vnto this day, and in Israel, and among all men, and hast made thee a Name, as appeareth this day,
32:21And hast brought thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signes, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, with a stretched out arme, and with great terrour,
32:22And hast giuen them this land, which thou diddest sweare to their fathers to giue them, euen a land, that floweth with milke and hony,
32:23And they came in, and possessed it, but they obeyed not thy voyce, neither walked in thy Law: all that thou commaundedst them to doe, they haue not done: therefore thou hast caused this whole plague to come vpon them.
32:24Beholde, the mounts, they are come into the citie to take it, and the citie is giuen into the hande of the Caldeans, that fight against it by meanes of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence, and what thou hast spoken, is come to passe, and beholde, thou seest it.
32:25And thou hast sayd vnto me, O Lord God, Bye vnto thee the fielde for siluer, and take witnesses: for the citie shall be giuen into the hand of the Caldeans.
32:26Then came the worde of the Lord vnto Ieremiah, saying,
32:27Beholde, I am the LORD GOD of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
32:28Therefore thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I wil giue this citie into the hand of the Caldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchad-nezzar, King of Babel, and he shall take it.
32:29And the Caldeans shall come and fight against this citie, and set fire on this citie and burne it, with the houses, vpon whose rouses they haue offred incense vnto Baal, and powred drinke offrings vnto other gods, to prouoke me vnto anger.
32:30For the children of Israel, and the children of Iudah haue surely done euill before me from their youth: for the children of Israel haue surely prouoked me to anger with the workes of their hands, saith the Lord.
32:31Therefore this citie hath bene vnto me as a prouocation of mine anger, and of my wrath, from the day, that they built it, euen vnto this day, that I should remoue it out of my sight,
32:32Because of all the euill of the children of Israel, and of the children of Iudah, which they haue done to prouoke mee to anger, euen they, their Kings, their Princes, their Priests, and their Prophets, and the men of Iudah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem.
32:33And they haue turned vnto me the backe and not the face: though I taught them rising vp earely, and instructing them, yet they were not obedient to receiue doctrine,
32:34But they set their abominations in ye house (whereupon my Name was called) to defile it,
32:35And they built the hie places of Baal, which are in the valley of Ben-hinnom, to cause their sonnes and their daughters to passe through the fire vnto Molech, which I commanded them not, neither came it into my minde, that they should doe such abomination, to cause Iudah to sinne.
32:36And nowe therefore, thus hath the Lord God of Israel spoken, concerning this citie, whereof ye say, It shalbe deliuered into the hand of the King of Babel by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence,
32:37Beholde, I will gather them out of all countreys, wherein I haue scattered them in mine anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation, and I wil bring them againe vnto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely.
32:38And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
32:39And I wil giue them one heart and one way that they may feare me for euer for ye wealth of them, and of their children after them.
32:40And I wil make an euerlasting couenant with them, that I wil neuer turne away from them to doe them good, but I wil put my feare in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.
32:41Yea, I wil delite in them to do them good, and I wil plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart, and with all my soule.
32:42For thus sayth the Lord, Like as I haue brought all this great plague vpon this people, so wil I bring vpon them all the good that I haue promised them.
32:43And the fields shalbe possessed in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast, and shalbe giuen into the hand of the Caldeans.
32:44Men shall buy fields for siluer, and make writings and seale them, and take witnesses in the land of Beniamin, and round about Ierusalem, and in the cities of Iudah, and in the cities of the mountaines, and in the cities of the plaine, and in the cities of the South: for I wil cause their captiuitie to returne, saith the Lord.

32:1These wordes spake the Lorde vnto Ieremy, in the .x. yeare of Zedekiah king of Iuda: which was the .xviij. yeare of Nabuchodonosor,
32:2what tyme as the kyng of Babylons hoost layed seage vnto Ierusalem. But Ieremy the prophet laye bounde in the courte of the preson, which was in the king of Iudas house:
32:3where Zedekiah the kyng of Iuda caused hym to be layed, because he had prophecyed of this maner: Thus sayeth the Lorde: Beholde, I wyll delyuer this citye into the handes of the kyng of Babilon, which shall take it.
32:4As for Zedekiah the kynge of Iuda: he shall not be able to escape the Chaldees: but surely he shall come into the handes of the kyng of Babylon: which shall speake wt him mouth to mouth: and one of them shall loke another in the face.
32:5And Zedekiah shalbe caryed vnto Babylon, and there shall he be, vntyll the tyme that I viset hym, sayth the Lorde. But yf thou takest in hande to fyght agaynst the Chaldees, thou shalt not prospere.
32:6And Ieremy sayde: thus hath the Lorde spoken vnto me:
32:7Behold, Hananeel the sonne of Selum thyne vncles sonne, shall come vnto the, and requyre the to redeme the lande that lyeth in Anathoth vnto thy selfe: for by reason of kynred it is thy right to redeme it, and to bye it out.
32:8And Hananeel myne vncles sonne came to me in the court of the preson, accordynge to the worde of the Lorde, and sayde vnto me: Bye my lande, I praye the, that lieth in Anathoth in the contrey of Beniamin: for by heritage thou haste ryght to loose it oute for thy selfe, therfore redeme it. Then I perceaued that thys was the commaundement of the Lorde,
32:9and so I bought the lande from Hananeel of Anathoth, myne vncles sonne, and weied him there the moneye: euen seuen syckles and ten syluer pence.
32:10I caused hym also to make me a writing and to seale it: and called recorde therby, and weyed hym there the money vpon the wayghtes.
32:11So I toke the euidence with the copye, when it was orderlye sealed and redde ouer,
32:12and I gaue the euidence vnto Baruch the sonne of Neriah the sonne of Maasiah in the syght of Hananeel my cosyne, and in the presence of the witnesses, that be named in the euidence: and before all the Iewes that were therby in the courte of the preson:
32:13I charged Baruch also before them sayinge:
32:14The Lord of hostes the God of Israel commaundeth the, to take thys sealed euydence with the copie: and to laye it in an earthen vessell, that it maye longe continue.
32:15For the Lorde of hoostes the God of Israel hath determyned that houses, feldes, and vyneyardes shalbe possessed agayne in this lande.
32:16Now when I had deliuered the euidence vnto Baruch the sonne of Neriah, I besought the Lorde, saying:
32:17O Lord God, it is thou that hast made heauen and earth with thy greate power and hie arme, and there is nothyng hyd from the.
32:18Thou shewest mercy vpon thousandes, thou recompencest the wickednes of the fathers, into the bosome of the children that come after them.
32:19Thou art the greate and mightye God, whose name is the Lorde of hoostes: greate in councell, and excellent in worcke. Thyne eyes loke vpon all the wayes of mens chyldren, to reward euery one after his waye: & according to the frutes of his inuencions.
32:20Thou haste done greate tokens and wonders in the lande of Egypte, as we se thys daye, vpon the people of Israel and vpon those men: to make thy name greate, as it is come to passe thys daye.
32:21Thou hast brought thy people of Israel oute of the land of Egipt, with tokens, with wonders, with a myghtye hande, with a stretched out arme and wt greate terriblenes:
32:22and hast geuen them this lande, lyke as thou haddest promysed vnto their fathers. Namely, that thou woldest geue them a lande, that floweth with mylke and honye.
32:23Nowe when they came therin, and possessed it, they folowed nott thy voyce, and walcked not in thy lawe, but all that thou commaundedest them to do, that haue they not done, and therfore come all these plages vpon them.
32:24Beholde, there are bullworckes made now agaynst the citye, to take it: and it shalbe wonne of the Chaldees that besege it, with swearde, with honger and death, and looke what thou hast spoken, that same shall come vpon them. For lo, all thynges are present vnto the.
32:25Yet (saist thou vnto me, O Lorde God) and commaundest me, that I shall loose a pece of lande vnto my selfe, and take witnesses therto: and yet in the meane season the citye is delyuered into the power of the Chaldees.
32:26Then came the worde of the Lorde vnto me, sayinge:
32:27Beholde, I am the Lorde God of all fleshe, is there eny thynge then to hard for me?
32:28Therfore thus saith the Lorde: beholde, I shall delyuer thys citye into the power of the Chaldees, and into the power of Nabuchodonosor the kynge of Babylon, they shall take it in.
32:29For the Chaldees shall come, and wynne thys citye, and sett fyer vpon it, and burne it: with the gorgeouse houses, in whose parlers they haue made sacrifyce vnto Baal, and powred drynckofferynges vnto straunge Goddes, to prouoke me vnto wrath.
32:30For seyng the chyldren of Israel, and the children of Iuda haue wrought wickednes before me euer from theyr youth vp, what haue they els done, but prouoked me wt the workes of their awne handes? sayth the Lorde.
32:31Or, what hath this citye bene elles but a prouoking of my wrath, euer sence the daye that they buylded it, vnto thys houre wherin I cast it out of my sight,
32:32because of the great blasphemyes of the children of Israel & Iuda, which they haue done to prouoke me: yee, they, their kynges, their prynces, their prestes, their prophetes, the men of Iuda, and the cytesyns of Ierusalem.
32:33When I stode vp early, and taught them and instructed them, they turned their backes to me, and not theyr faces.
32:34They wolde not heare, to be refourmed and correct: but set their ydols in the house, that is halowed vnto my name, to defyle it.
32:35They haue builded hye places for Baal in the valley of the chyldren of Hennom, to vowe theyr sonnes and daughters vnto Moloch: which I neuer commaunded them: nether came it euer in my thoughte, to make Iuda synne with soch abhominatyon.
32:36And nowe therfore, thus hath the Lorde God of Israel spoken, concernynge this cytie, which (as ye youre selues confesse) shalbe delyuered into the hande of the kynge of Babylon, when it is wonne with the swearde, with honger and with pestilence.
32:37Beholde, I will gather them together from all landes, wherin I haue scatered them in my wrath in my fearfull and great displeasure: and wyll bring them agayne vnto thys place, where they shall dwell safely.
32:38And they shalbe my people, and I wilbe their God.
32:39And I wyll geue them one hert and one waye, that they maye feare me all the daies of their lyfe, that they and their chyldren after them maye prospere.
32:40And I wyll sett vp an euerlastyng couenaunt with them. Namelye, that I wyll neuer ceasse to do them good, and that I wyll put my feare in their hertes, so that they shall not runne awaye from me.
32:41Yee, I will haue a lust and pleasure to do them good, and faythfully to plante them in this lande with my whole hert and with all my soule.
32:42For thus sayth the Lorde: lyke as I haue brought all this great plage vpon this people, euen so wyll I also bring vpon them all the good, that I haue promised them.
32:43And men shall haue their possessions in this lande, wherof ye saye nowe, that it shall nether be inhabited of people ner of catell: but be deliuered into the handes of the Chaldees.
32:44Yee, lande shalbe bought for money, & euidences made therupon, and sealed before witnesses in the countrey of Beniamin, and rounde aboute Ierusalem, in the cities of Iuda, in the cities that are vpon the mountaynes, and in them that lye beneth: yee, and in the cityes that are in the south. For I wyll brynge their presoners hither agayne, sayth the Lorde.
