Jeremiah - Chapter: 34

>
34:1The word which came vnto Ieremiah fro the Lord (when Nebuchad-nezzar king of Babylon and all his armie, and all the kingdomes of the earth of his dominion, and all the people fought against Ierusalem and against all the cities thereof) saying,
34:2Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, Go, and speake to Zedekiah king of Iudah, and tell him, Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will giue this citie into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shal burne it with fire.
34:3And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and deliuered into his hand, and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speake with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt goe to Babylon.
34:4Yet heare the word of the Lord, O Zedekiah king of Iudah: Thus saith the Lord of thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword:
34:5But thou shalt die in peace, and with the burnings of thy fathers the former kings which were before thee, so shall they burne odours for thee, and they will lament thee, saying, Ah Lord; for I haue pronounced the word, saith the Lord.
34:6Then Ieremiah the Prophet spake all these words vnto Zedekiah king of Iudah in Ierusalem;
34:7When the king of Babylons armie fought against Ierusalem, and against all the cities of Iudah that were left, against Lachish, and against Azekah: for these defenced cities remained of the cities of Iudah.
34:8This is the word that came vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, after that the king Zedekiah had made a couenant with all the people which were at Ierusalem to proclaime liberty vnto them,
34:9That euery man should let his man seruant, and euery man his maide seruant, being an Hebrewe, or an Hebrewesse, goe free, that none should serue himselfe of them, to wit, of a Iew his brother.
34:10Now when all the princes and all the people which had entred into the couenant, heard that euery one should let his man seruant, and euery one his maid seruant goe free, that none should serue themselues of them any more, then they obeyed and let them goe.
34:11But afterwards they turned, and caused the seruants and the handmaids whom they had let goe free, to returne, and brought them into subiection for seruants and for handmaids.
34:12Therefore the worde of the Lord came to Ieremiah, from the Lord, saying,
34:13Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel, I made a couenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondmen, saying,
34:14At the end of seuen yeeres, let ye go euery man his brother an Hebrew which hath bene sold vnto thee: and when he hath serued thee sixe yeeres, thou shalt let him goe free from thee, but your fathers hearkened not vnto me, neither inclined their eare.
34:15And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in proclaiming libertie euery man to his neighbour, and ye had made a couenant before me in the house, which is called by my Name.
34:16But yee turned and polluted my Name, and caused euery man his seruant, and euery man his handmaide, whome yee had set at libertie at their pleasure, to returne; and brought them into subiection, to bee vnto you for seruants and for handmaids.
34:17Therfore thus saith the Lord, Ye haue not hearkened vnto me, in proclaiming libertie euery one to his brother, and euery man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaime a libertie for you, saith the Lord, to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine, and I wil make you to be remoued into all the kingdomes of the earth.
34:18And I wil giue the men that haue transgressed my couenant, which haue not performed the wordes of the couenant which they had made before mee, when they cut the calfe in twaine, and passed betweene the parts thereof,
34:19The princes of Iudah and the princes of Ierusalem, the eunuches, and the priests, and all the people of the land which passed betweene the parts of the calfe,
34:20I will euen giue them into the hande of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seeke their life, and their dead bodies shall bee for meate vnto the foules of the heauen, and to the beasts of the earth.
34:21And Zedekiah king of Iudah, and his Princes will I giue into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seeke their life and into the hand of the king of Babylons armie, which are gone vp from you.
34:22Behold, I will command, saith the Lord, and cause them to returne to this citie, and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burne it with fire, and I will make the cities of Iudah a desolation without an inhabitant.

34:1The worde which came vnto Ieremiah from the Lord (when Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel, and all his hoste, and all the kingdomes of the earth, that were vnder the power of his hand, and all people fought against Ierusalem, and against all the cites thereof) saying,
34:2Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, Goe, and speake to Zedekiah King of Iudah, and tell him, Thus sayth the Lord, Beholde, I will giue this citie into the hand of the King of Babel, and he shall burne it with fire,
34:3And thou shall not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and deliuered into his hand, and thine eyes shall beholde the face of the King of Babel, and he shall speake with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babel.
34:4Yet heare the worde of the Lord, O Zedekiah, King of Iudah: thus sayth the Lord of thee, Thou shalt not dye by the sword,
34:5But thou shalt die in peace: and according to the burning for thy fathers the former Kings which were before thee, so shall they burne odours for thee, and they shall lament thee, saying, Oh lorde: for I haue pronounced the worde, sayth the Lord.
34:6Then Ieremiah the Prophet spake all these words vnto Zedekiah King of Iudah in Ierusalem,
34:7(When the King of Babels hoste fought against Ierusalem, and against all the cities of Iudah, that were left, euen against Lachish, and against Azekah: for these strong cities remained of the cities of Iudah)
34:8This is the worde that came vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, after that the King Zedekiah had made a couenant with all the people, which were at Ierusalem, to proclaime libertie vnto them,
34:9That euery man should let his seruant go free, and euery man his handmayde, which was an Ebrue or an Ebruesse, and that none should serue himselfe of them, to wit, of a Iewe his brother.
34:10Now when all the princes, and all the people which had agreed to the couenant, heard that euery one should let his seruant go free, and euery one his handmaide, and that none should serue them selues of them any more, they obeyed and let them go.
34:11But afterwarde they repented and caused the seruants and the handmayds, whom they had let go free, to returne, and helde them in subiection as seruants and handmayds.
34:12Therefore the worde of the Lord came vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, saying,
34:13Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I made a couenant with your fathers, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of seruants, saying,
34:14At the terme of seuen yeres let ye go, euery man his brother an Ebrewe which hath bene solde vnto thee: and when he hath serued the sixe yeres, thou shalt let him go free from thee: but your fathers obeyed me not, neither inclined their eares.
34:15And ye were nowe turned, and had done right in my sight in proclayming libertie, euery man to his neighbour, and ye had made a couenant before mee in the house, whereupon my Name is called.
34:16But ye repented, and polluted my Name: for ye haue caused euery man his seruant, and euery man his handmayde, whom ye had set at libertie at their pleasure, to returne, and holde them in subiection to bee vnto you as seruantes and as handmaydes.
34:17Therefore thus saith the Lord, Ye haue not obeyed mee, in proclayming freedome euery man to his brother, and euery man to his neighbour: beholde, I proclaime a libertie for you, saith the Lord, to the sworde, to the pestilence, and to the famine, and I will make you a terrour to all the kingdomes of the earth.
34:18And I will giue those men that haue broken my couenant, and haue not kept the wordes of the couenant, which they had made before me, when they cut the calfe in twaine, and passed betweene the partes thereof:
34:19The princes of Iudah, and the princes of Ierusalem, the Eunuches, and the Priestes, and all the people of the lande, which passed betweene the partes of the calfe,
34:20I wil euen giue them into the hand of their enemies, and into the handes of them that seeke their life: and their dead bodies shalbe for meate vnto the foules of the heauen, and to the beastes of the earth.
34:21And Zedekiah King of Iudah, and his princes will I giue into the hand of their enemies, and into the hande of them that seeke their life, and into the hande of the King of Babels hoste, which are gone vp from you.
34:22Beholde, I will commande, saith the Lord, and cause them to returne to this citie, and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burne it with fire: and I will make the cities of Iudah desolate without an inhabitant.

34:1These are the wordes which the Lord spake vnto Ieremy what tyme as Nabuchodonosor the kynge of Babylon, & all his Hostes (out of all the kingdomes that were vnder his power) & all hys people, fought agaynst Ierusalem and all the cyties therof.
34:2Thus sayeth the Lorde God of Israel: Goo, & speake to Zedekiah the kynge of Iuda, and tell hym. The Lorde sendeth the thys worde: Beholde, I wyll delyuer thys cytie into the hande of the kyng of Babylon, he shall burne it,
34:3and thou shalt not escape hys handes, but shalt be led awaye presoner, and deliuered into his power. Thou shalt loke the kynge of Babylon in the face, and he shal speake with the, mouth to mouth and then shalt thou goo to Babilon.
34:4Yet heare the worde of the Lorde, O Zedekiah thou kynge of Iuda: Thus sayeth the Lorde vnto the. Thou shalt not be slayne with the swearde,
34:5but shalt dye in peace. Lyke as thy fore fathers the kynges, thy progenitours, were brente: so shalt thou be brent also, and in thy mourninge they shall saye: oh Lord. For thus haue I determyned, sayeth the Lorde.
34:6Then spake Ieremy the prophet all these wordes vnto Zedekiah kynge of Iuda in Ierusalem:
34:7what tyme as the kynge of Babylons hooste beseged Ierusalem, and the remnaunt of the cyties. Namely, Lachis and Azecach, which yet remayned of the stronge defensed cyties of Iuda.
34:8These are the wordes that the Lord spake vnto Ieremy the prophete, when Zedekiah was agreed with all the people at Ierusalem, that there shulde be proclamed a libertie:
34:9so that euery man shuld let his seruaunt & handmayde go fre, Hebrue and Hebruesse, and no Iewe to holde hys brother as a bonde man.
34:10Nowe as they had consented, all the princes and all the people which had gathered vnto this agrement that euery man shulde set at lybertie his bonde seruaunte and bonde woman and no longer to holde them bonde euen so they were obedient, & let them go free.
34:11But afterwarde they repented, and toke agayne the seruauntes and hande maydens, whom they had lett go free, and so made them bonde againe.
34:12For the which cause the worde of the Lorde came vnto Ieremye from the Lorde hym selfe, sayinge:
34:13Thus sayeth the Lord God of Israel: I made a couenaunt with youre fathers, when I brought them out of Egypt, (that they shulde no more be bondmen) sayinge.
34:14When seuen yeares are oute, euery man shall let hys bought seruaunte an Hebrue go fre, yf he haue serued hym syxe yeares. But youre fathers obeyed me not & herkened not vnto me.
34:15As for you, ye were nowe turned, & did right before me, in that ye proclamed, eueryman to let his neighboure go free, and in that ye made a couenaunt before me, in the temple that beareth my name.
34:16But yet ye haue turned youre selues agayne, and blasphemed my name. In this, that euery man hath requyred his seruaunt & handmayden agayne, whom ye had let go quyte and fre, & compelled them to serue you agayne, and to be youre bonde men, and bondwemen.
34:17And therfore thus sayeth the Lorde: ye haue not obeyed me, euery man to proclame fredome vnto his brother & neyghboure: wherfore, I wyll call you vnto a fredome, sayeth the Lord: euen vnto the swearde, to the pestilence, & to honger, & will make you to be plaged in all the kyngdomes of the earth.
34:18Yee, those men that haue broken my couenaunt, & not kepte the wordes of the appoyntement, which they made before me: when they hewed the calfe in two, & when there wente thorowe the two halfes therof:
34:19The Prynces of Iuda, the Princes of Ierusalem, the gelded men, the Prestes and all the people of the lande, which wente thorowe the two sydes of the calfe.
34:20Those men wyll I geue into the power of theyr enemies, & into the handes of them that folowe vpon theyr lyues. And their deed bodies shalbe meate for the foules of the ayre, & beastes of the felde.
34:21As for Zedekiah the kynge of Iuda and hys Prynces, I wyll delyuer them into the power of their enemyes, and of them that desyre to slaye them, and into the hande of the kynge of Babylons hoste which nowe is departed from you:
34:22But thorow my commaundement (sayeth the Lorde) they shal come agayne before thys cytye, they shall fyght agaynst it, wynne it, and burne it: Moreouer, I wyll laye the cyties of Iuda so waste, that no man shall dwell therin.
