| 37:1 | Zedekiah the sonne of Iosiah which was made kynge thorowe Nabuchodonosor kynge of Babylon, reigned in the lande of Iuda, in the steade of Cononiah the sonne of Iehoakim. |
| 37:2 | But nether he, ner hys seruauntes, ner the people in the lande wolde obeye the wordes of the Lorde, which he spake by the Prophet Ieremy. |
| 37:3 | Neuerthelesse, Zedekiah the kyng sent Iehucal the sonne of Selemiah & Sophoniah the sonne of Maasiah the Prest to the Prophet Ieremy, saying: O praye thou vnto the Lorde oure God for vs |
| 37:4 | Nowe Ieremy walked fre amonge the people at that tyme, and was not put in preson as yet. |
| 37:5 | Pharaos hoste also was come out of Egypte: which when the Caldees that beseged Ierusalem perceaued, they departed from thence. |
| 37:6 | Then came the worde of the Lorde vnto Ieremy the Prophet, sayinge: |
| 37:7 | Thus sayeth the Lorde God of Israel, thys answere shall ye geue to the kynge of Iuda, that sent you vnto me for councell: Beholde, Pharaos hoste which is come forth to helpe you, shall returne to Egypte into his awne lande: |
| 37:8 | but the Caldees shall come agayne, and fyght agaynst thys cytie, wynne it, and sett fyre vpon it. |
| 37:9 | For thus sayeth the Lorde, disceaue not youre awne myndes, thynckinge on this maner: tush, the Caldees go now their waye from vs. No, they shall not go theyr waye. |
| 37:10 | For though ye had slayne the whole hoste of the Caldees, that besege you, and euery one of the slayne laye in his tente, yet shulde they stande vp, and set fyre vpon thys cyte. |
| 37:11 | Now when the hoste of the Caldees was broken vp from Ierusalem, for feare of the Egypcyans armye, |
| 37:12 | Ieremye went out of Ierusalem towarde the lande of BenIamin, to get hym from amonge the people. |
| 37:13 | And when he came vnder BenIamyns porte, there was a porter, called Ieriah, the sonne of Selemiah the sonne of Hananiah, which fell vpon him, and toke him sayinge: thy mynde is to runne to the Caldees. |
| 37:14 | Then sayde Ieremy: It is not so, I go not to the Caldees. Neuertheles, Ieriah wolde not beleue hym, but brought Ieremy bounde before the Princes. |
| 37:15 | Wherfore the princes were angrye with Ieremy, and smote him, and layed hym in preson in the house of Ionathas the scribe. For he was the rular of the preson. |
| 37:16 | Thus was Ieremy put into the dongeon and preson, and so laye there a longe tyme. |
| 37:17 | Then Zedekiah the kyng sent for him, and called him, and asked hym quyetly in his awne house, sayinge: thynkest thou this busynes (that now is in hande) commeth of the Lorde? Ieremy answered: yee, that it doth: and thou (sayed he) shalt be delyuered into the kynge of Babylons power. |
| 37:18 | Moreouer, Ieremy sayde vnto kynge Zedekiah. What haue I offended agaynst the, against thy seruauntes, or agaynst thys people, that ye haue put me in preson? |
| 37:19 | Where are youre prophetes which haue prophecyed vnto you, & sayde, that the kynge of Babylon shulde not come agaynst you & this lande? |
| 37:20 | And therfore heare nowe, O my Lorde the kynge: let my prayer be accepte before the, and sende me nomore into the house of Ionathas the Scrybe, that I dye not there. |
| 37:21 | Then Zedekias the kynge commaunded to put Ieremy in the fore entrye of the preson, and dayly to be geuen hym a cake of bread out of the bakers streate vntyll all the bread in the cytie was eaten vp. Thus Ieremy remayned in the fore entry in the preson. |
| 37:1 | And kyng Sedechie, the sone of Josie, regnede for Jeconye, the sone of Joachym, whom Nabugodonosor, kyng of Babiloyne, made kyng in the lond of Juda. |
| 37:2 | And he, and hise seruauntis, and his puple obeieden not to the wordis of the Lord, whiche he spak in the hond of Jeremye, the profete. |
| 37:3 | And kyng Sedechie sente Jothal, the sone of Selemye, and Sofonye, the preest, the sone of Maasie, to Jeremye, the profete, and seide, Preie thou for vs oure Lord God. |
| 37:4 | Forsothe Jeremye yede freli in the myddis of the puple; for thei hadden not sente hym in to the kepyng of the prisoun. Therfor the oost of Farao yede out of Egipt, and Caldeis, that bisegiden Jerusalem, herden sich a message, and yeden awei fro Jerusalem. |

| 37:6 | and seide, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Thus ye schulen seie to the kyng of Juda, that sente you to axe me, Lo! the oost of Farao, which yede out to you in to help, schal turne ayen in to his lond, in to Egipt. |
| 37:7 | And Caldeis schulen come ayen, and schulen fiyte ayens this citee, and schulen take it, and schulen brenne it bi fier. |
| 37:8 | The Lord seith these thingis, Nyle ye disseyue youre soulis, seiynge, Caldeis goynge schulen go a wey, and schulen departe fro vs; for thei schulen not go a wei. |
| 37:9 | But thouy ye sleen al the oost of Caldeis, that fiyten ayens you, and summe woundid men of hem be left, ech man schal rise fro his tente, and thei schulen brenne this citee bi fier. |
| 37:10 | Therfor whanne the oost of Caldeis hadde goon awei fro Jerusalem, for the oost of Farao, Jeremye yede out of Jerusalem, |
| 37:11 | to go in to the lond of Beniamyn, and to departe there the possessioun in the siyt of citeseyns. |
| 37:12 | And whanne he was comun to the yate of Beniamyn, ther was a kepere of the yate bi whiles, Jerie bi name, the sone of Selemye, sone of Ananye; and he took Jeremye, the prophete, and seide, Thou fleest to Caldeis. |
| 37:13 | And Jeremye answeride, It is fals; Y fle not to Caldeis. And he herde not Jeremye, but Jerie took Jeremye, and brouyte hym to the princes. |
| 37:14 | Wherfor the princes weren wrooth ayens Jeremye, and beeten hym, and senten hym in to the prisoun, that was in the hous of Jonathas, the scryuen; for he was souereyn on the prisoun. |
| 37:15 | Therfor Jeremye entride in to the hous of the lake, and in to the prisoun of trauel; and Jeremye sat there manye daies. |
| 37:16 | Therfor kyng Sedechie sente, and took hym a wei, and axide hym priuyli in his hous, and seide, Gessist thou, whether a word is of the Lord? And Jeremye seide, Ther is. And Jeremye seide, Thou schalt be bitakun in to the hond of the kyng of Babiloyne. |
| 37:17 | And Jeremye seide to Sedechie, the kyng, What haue Y synned to thee, and to thi seruauntis, and to thi puple, for thou hast sent me in to the hous of prisoun? |
| 37:18 | Where ben youre profetis, that profesieden to you, and seiden, The king of Babiloyne schal not come on you, and on this lond? |
| 37:19 | Now therfor, my lord the kyng, Y biseche, here thou, my preier be worth in thi siyt, and sende thou not me ayen in to the hous of Jonathas, the scryuen, lest Y die there. |
| 37:20 | Therfor Sedechie comaundide, that Jeremye schulde be bitakun in to the porche of the prisoun, and that a cake of breed schulde be youun to hym ech dai, outakun seew, til alle looues of the citee weren wastid; and Jeremye dwellide in the porche of the prisoun. |

| 37:20 | And therfore heare now, o my lorde the kynge: let my prayer be accepte before the, & sende me nomore in to ye house of Ionathas the scrybe, that I dye not there. |
| 37:21 | Then Sedechias the kynge commaunded to put Ieremy in the fore entrie off the preson, and dayly to the geuen him a cake of bred, and els no dighte meate, vntill all the bred in the cite was eaten vp. Thus Ieremy remayned in ye fore entre off the preson. |
