| 18:1 | And the word of ye Lord came vnto me againe, saying; |
| 18:2 | What meane ye that yee vse this prouerbe concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers haue eaten sowre grapes, and the childrens teeth are set on edge? |
| 18:3 | As I liue, saith the Lord God, yee shall not haue occasion any more to vse this prouerbe in Israel. |
| 18:4 | Behold, all soules are mine, as the soule of the father, so also the soule of the sonne is mine: the soule that sinneth, it shall die. |
| 18:5 | But if a man be iust, and do that which is lawfull and right: |
| 18:6 | And hath not eaten vpon the mountaines, neither hath lift vp his eyes to the idoles of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbours wife, neither hath come neere to a menstruous woman, |
| 18:7 | And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtourhis pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath giuen his bread to the hungrie, and hath couered the naked with a garment, |
| 18:8 | He that hath not giuen foorth vpon vsurie, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawen his hand from iniquitie, hath executed true iudgement betweene man and man, |
| 18:9 | Hath walked in my Statutes, and hath kept my Iudgements to deale truely; hee is iust, hee shall surely liue, saith the Lord God. |
| 18:10 | If hee beget a sonne that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doth the like to any one of these things, |
| 18:11 | And that doeth not any of those duties, bnt euen hath eaten vpon the mountains, and defiled his neighbours wife, |
| 18:12 | Hath oppressed the poore and needie, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lift vp his eyes to the idoles, hath committed abomination, |
| 18:13 | Hath giuen foorth vpon vsurie, and hath taken encrease: shall he then liue? hee shall not liue: hee hath done all these abominations, hee shall surely die, his blood shalbe vpon him. |
| 18:14 | Now loe, if hee beget a sonne that seeth all his fathers sinnes which he hath done, and considereth, and doth not such like, |
| 18:15 | That hath not eaten vpon the mountaines, neither hath lift vp his eyes to the idoles of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbours wife, |
| 18:16 | Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath giuen his bread to the hungry, and hath couered the naked with a garment, |
| 18:17 | That hath taken off his hand from the poore, that hath not receiued vsurie nor increase, hath executed my Iudgements, hath walked in my Statutes, he shall not die for the iniquitie of his father, he shall surely liue. |
| 18:18 | As for his father, because hee cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, loe, euen he shall die in his iniquitie. |
| 18:19 | Yet say yee, Why? doeth not the sonne beare the iniquitie of the father? when the sonne hath done that which is lawfull and right, and hath kept all my Statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely liue. |
| 18:20 | The soule that sinneth, it shal die: the sonne shall not beare the iniquitie of the father, neither shal the father beare the iniquitie of the sonne; the righteousnesse of the righteous shall bee vpon him, and the wickednesse of the wicked shalbe vpon him. |
| 18:21 | But if the wicked will turne from all his sinnes that he hath committed and keepe all my statutes, and doe that which is lawful and right, he shall surely liue, he shall not die. |
| 18:22 | All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned vnto him: in his righteousnesse, that he hath done, he shall liue. |
| 18:23 | Haue I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die, saith the Lord God ? And not that he should returne from his wayes, and liue? |
| 18:24 | But when the righteous turneth away fro his righteousnes, & committeth iniquitie, and doth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doth, shall he liue? all his righteousnesse that he hath done, shall not be mentioned: in his trespasse that he hath trespassed, and in his sinne that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. |
| 18:25 | Yet yee say; The way of the Lord is not equall. Heare now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equall? are not your wayes vnequall? |
| 18:26 | When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousnesse, & committeth iniquitie, and dieth in them; for his iniquitie that he hath done, shall he die. |
| 18:27 | Againe, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickednesse that he hath committed, and doth that which is lawfull and right, he shall saue his soule aliue. |
| 18:28 | Because he considereth and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely liue, he shall not die. |
| 18:29 | Yet saith the house of Israel; The way of the Lord is not equall. O house of Israel, are not my wayes equall? are not your wayes vnequall? |
| 18:30 | Therefore I will iudge you, O house of Israel, euery one according to his wayes, saith the Lord God; repent, and turne your selues from all your transgressions: so iniquitie shall not be your ruine. |
| 18:31 | Cast away from you all your transgressions, wherby yee haue transgressed, and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will yee die, O house of Israel? |
| 18:32 | For I haue no pleasure in ye death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore turne your selues, & liue ye. |
| 18:1 | The word of the Lord came vnto me, saying |
| 18:2 | What meane ye by this comon prouerbe that ye vse in the lande of Israel, saying: The fathers haue eaten sowre grapes, and the chyldrens teeth are set on edge |
| 18:3 | As truely as I liue saith the Lorde God, ye shall vse this byworde no more in Israel |
| 18:4 | Beholde, all soules are mine, lyke as the soule of the father is mine, so is the soule of the sonne myne also: the soule that sinneth shall dye it selfe |
| 18:5 | But if a man be iust, and do that which is lawfull and right |
| 18:6 | He hath not eaten vpon the hilles, he hath not lift his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbours wyfe, neither hath come neare a woman remoued |
| 18:7 | Neither hath oppressed any man, but hath restored to the detter his pledge: he that hath not spoyled any by violence, hath geuen his bread to the hungry, and hath clothed the naked |
| 18:8 | And hath not geuen foorth vpon vsurie, neither taken any encrease, he hath withdrawne his hande from iniquitie, and hath executed true iudgement betweene man and man |
| 18:9 | And hath walked in my statutes, and kept my iudgementes to deale truely: this is a righteous man, he shall surely liue, saith the Lorde God |
| 18:10 | If he nowe get a sonne that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and do any one of these thinges |
| 18:11 | Though he do not all these thinges, but either hath eaten vpon the hilles, or defiled his neighbours wyfe |
| 18:12 | Or hath oppressed the poore and needie, or spoyled by violence, or hath not restored the pledge, or hath lyft vp his eyes vnto the idols, or hath committed abomination |
| 18:13 | Or hath geuen foorth vpon vsurie, or hath taken encrease: Shall this man liue? he shall not liue: Seeing he hath done al these abhominations he shal die the death, his blood shalbe vpon hym |
| 18:14 | Nowe if this man get a sonne also, that seeth all his fathers sinnes whiche he hath done, and feareth, neither doth suche like |
| 18:15 | namely he hath not eaten vpon the hilles, he hath not lift vp his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, nor defiled his neighbours wyfe |
| 18:16 | Neither hath oppressed any, nor hath withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence: but hath geuen his bread to the hungry, and hath couered the naked with a garment |
| 18:17 | Neither hath withdrawen his hande from the afflicted, nor receaued vsurie nor encrease, but hath executed my iudgementes, and walked in my statutes: this man shall not dye in his fathers sinne, but shall liue without fayle |
| 18:18 | As for his father, because he hath cruelly oppressed and spoyled his brother by violence, and hath not done good among his people, lo he dyeth in his owne sinne |
| 18:19 | And yet say ye, wherfore then should not this sonne beare his fathers sinne? Because the sonne hath done iudgment and righteousnesse, he hath kept all my statutes and done them: therefore shall he liue in deede |
| 18:20 | The same soule that sinneth shall dye, the sonne shall not beare the fathers iniquitie, neither shall the father beare the sonnes iniquitie: the righteousnesse of the righteous shalbe vpon hym, and the wickednesse of the wicked shalbe vpon him selfe also |
| 18:21 | But if the vngodly wyll turne away from all his sinnes that he hath done, and kepe all my statutes, and do the thing that is iugdement and right, doubtlesse he shall liue and not dye |
| 18:22 | As for all his sinnes that he dyd before they shall not be mentioned vnto hym: but in his righteousnesse that he hath done, he shall liue |
| 18:23 | For haue I any pleasure in the death of a sinner saith the Lorde God? shall he not liue if he returne from his wayes |
| 18:24 | Agayne, if the righteous turne from his righteousnesse, and do iniquitie, and shall do according to all the abominations that the wicked man doth: shall he liue? All the righteousnesse that he hath done shall not be remembred, but in his transgression that he hath committed, in his sinne that he hath sinned, in them he shall dye |
| 18:25 | And yet ye say, the way of the Lorde is not indifferent. Heare therefore ye house of Israel, is not my way equall? or are not your wayes rather vnequall |
| 18:26 | When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousnesse, and committeth iniquitie, and dieth in the same: in his iniquitie whiche he hath committed shall he dye |
| 18:27 | Agayne, when the wicked turneth away from his wickednesse that he hath done, and doth iudgement and right, he shall saue his soule aliue |
| 18:28 | Because he seeth, and turneth away from all his iniquitie that he hath committed, he shall surely liue, and not dye |
| 18:29 | And yet saith the house of Israel, the way of the Lorde is not equall. Are my wayes vnequall O ye house of Israel? are not your wayes rather vnequall |
| 18:30 | Therefore I wyll iudge you, euery man according to his wayes, O ye house of Israel saith the Lorde: returne and bryng your selues agayne from all your wickednesse, so iniquitie shall not be your destruction |
| 18:31 | Cast away from you all your transgressions wherby ye haue transgressed, and make you a newe heart and a newe spirite: for why wyll ye dye O ye house of Israel |
| 18:32 | Seing I haue no pleasure in the death of hym that dyeth, saith the Lord God: bryng agayne your selues then, and ye shall lyue |
| 18:1 | The worde of the Lord came vnto me againe, saying, |
| 18:2 | What meane ye that ye speake this prouerbe, concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers haue eaten sowre grapes, and the childrens teeth are set on edge? |
| 18:3 | As I liue, sayth the Lord God, ye shall vse this prouerbe no more in Israel. |
| 18:4 | Beholde, all soules are mine, both the soule of the father, and also the soule of the sonne are mine: the soule that sinneth, it shall die. |
| 18:5 | But if a man be iust, and doe that which is lawfull, and right, |
| 18:6 | And hath not eaten vpon the mountaines, neither hath lift vp his eyes to the idoles of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbours wife, neither hath lyen with a menstruous woman, |
| 18:7 | Neither hath oppressed any, but hath restored the pledge to his dettour: he that hath spoyled none by violence, but hath giuen his bread to the hungry, and hath couered the naked with a garment, |
| 18:8 | And hath not giuen foorth vpon vsurie, neither hath taken any increase, but hath withdrawen his hand from iniquitie, and hath executed true iudgement betweene man and man, |
| 18:9 | And hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my iudgements to deale truely, he is iust, he shall surely liue, sayth the Lord God. |
| 18:10 | If he beget a sonne, that is a thiefe, or a sheader of blood, if he do any one of these things, |
| 18:11 | Though he doe not all these things, but either hath eaten vpon the mountaines, or defiled his neighbours wife, |
| 18:12 | Or hath oppressed the poore and needy, or hath spoyled by violence, or hath not restored the pledge, or hath lift vp his eyes vnto the idoles, or hath committed abomination, |
| 18:13 | Or hath giuen forth vpon vsurie, or hath taken increase, shall he liue? he shall not liue: seeing he hath done all these abominations, he shall die the death, and his blood shall be vpon him. |
| 18:14 | But if he beget a sonne, that seeth all his fathers sinnes, which he hath done, and feareth, neither doeth such like, |
| 18:15 | That hath not eaten vpon the mountaines, neither hath lift vp his eyes to the idols of ye house of Israel, nor hath defiled his neighbours wife, |
| 18:16 | Neither hath oppressed any, nor hath withholden the pledge, neither hath spoyled by violence, but hath giuen his bread to the hungry, and hath couered the naked with a garment, |
| 18:17 | Neither hath withdrawen his hand from the afflicted, nor receiued vsurie nor increase, but hath executed my iudgements, and hath walked in my statutes, he shall not die in the iniquitie of his father, but he shall surely liue. |
| 18:18 | His father, because he cruelly oppressed and spoyled his brother by violence, and hath not done good among his people, loe, euen he dyeth in his iniquitie. |
| 18:19 | Yet say ye, Wherefore shall not the sonne beare the iniquitie of the father? because ye sonne hath executed iudgement and iustice, and hath kept all my statutes, and done them, he shall surely liue, |
| 18:20 | The same soule that sinneth, shall die: the sonne shall not beare the iniquitie of the father, neither shall the father beare the iniquitie of the sonne, but the righteousnes of the righteous shall be vpon him, and the wickednesse of the wicked shall be vpon him selfe. |
| 18:21 | But if the wicked will returne from all his sinnes that he hath committed, and keepe all my statutes, and doe that which is lawfull and right, he shall surely liue, and shall not die. |
| 18:22 | All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned vnto him, but in his righteousnes that he hath done, he shall liue. |
| 18:23 | Haue I any desire that the wicked should die, sayth the Lord God? or shall he not liue, if he returne from his wayes? |
| 18:24 | But if the righteous turne away from his righteousnes, and commit iniquitie, and doe according to all the abominations, that the wicked man doeth, shall he liue? all his righteousnes that he hath done, shall not be mentioned: but in his transgression that he hath committed, and in his sinne that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. |
| 18:25 | Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equall: heare now, O house of Israel. Is not my way equall? or are not your wayes vnequall? |
| 18:26 | For when a righteous man turneth away from his righteousnes, and committeth iniquitie, he shall euen die for the same, he shall euen die for his iniquitie, that he hath done. |
| 18:27 | Againe when the wicked turneth away from his wickednes that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawfull and right, he shall saue his soule aliue. |
| 18:28 | Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that hee hath committed, he shall surely liue and shall not die. |
| 18:29 | Yet saith ye house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equall. O house of Israel, are not my wayes equall? or are not your wayes vnequall? |
| 18:30 | Therefore I will iudge you, O house of Israel, euery one according to his wayes, sayth the Lord God: returne therefore and cause others to turne away from all your transgressions: so iniquitie shall not be your destruction. |
| 18:31 | Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye haue transgressed, and make you a newe heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? |
| 18:32 | For I desire not the death of him that dyeth, sayth the Lord God: cause therefore one another to returne, and liue ye. |
