Ezekiel - Chapter: 24


24:1	Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
24:2	Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.
24:3	And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
24:4	Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
24:5	Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
24:6	Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
24:7	For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
24:8	That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
24:9	Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
24:10	Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.
24:11	Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.
24:12	She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.
24:13	In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.
24:14	I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.
24:15	Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
24:16	Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
24:17	Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.
24:18	So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
24:19	And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?
24:20	Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
24:21	Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
24:22	And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
24:23	And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.
24:24	Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
24:25	Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,
24:26	That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?
24:27	In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.


24:1	ויהי דבר יהוה אלי בשׁנה התשׁיעית בחדשׁ העשׂירי בעשׂור לחדשׁ לאמר׃
24:2	בן אדם כתוב לך את שׁם היום את עצם היום הזה סמך מלך בבל אל ירושׁלם בעצם היום הזה׃
24:3	ומשׁל אל בית המרי משׁל ואמרת אליהם כה אמר אדני יהוה שׁפת הסיר שׁפת וגם יצק בו מים׃
24:4	אסף נתחיה אליה כל נתח טוב ירך וכתף מבחר עצמים מלא׃
24:5	מבחר הצאן לקוח וגם דור העצמים תחתיה רתח רתחיה גם בשׁלו עצמיה בתוכה׃
24:6	לכן כה אמר אדני יהוה אוי עיר הדמים סיר אשׁר חלאתה בה וחלאתה לא יצאה ממנה לנתחיה לנתחיה הוציאה לא נפל עליה גורל׃
24:7	כי דמה בתוכה היה על צחיח סלע שׂמתהו לא שׁפכתהו על הארץ לכסות עליו עפר׃
24:8	להעלות חמה לנקם נקם נתתי את דמה על צחיח סלע לבלתי הכסות׃
24:9	לכן כה אמר אדני יהוה אוי עיר הדמים גם אני אגדיל המדורה׃
24:10	הרבה העצים הדלק האשׁ התם הבשׂר והרקח המרקחה והעצמות יחרו׃
24:11	והעמידה על גחליה רקה למען תחם וחרה נחשׁתה ונתכה בתוכה טמאתה תתם חלאתה׃
24:12	תאנים הלאת ולא תצא ממנה רבת חלאתה באשׁ חלאתה׃
24:13	בטמאתך זמה יען טהרתיך ולא טהרת מטמאתך לא תטהרי עוד עד הניחי את חמתי׃
24:14	אני יהוה דברתי באה ועשׂיתי לא אפרע ולא אחוס ולא אנחם כדרכיך וכעלילותיך שׁפטוך נאם אדני יהוה׃
24:15	ויהי דבר יהוה אלי לאמר׃
24:16	בן אדם הנני לקח ממך את מחמד עיניך במגפה ולא תספד ולא תבכה ולוא תבוא דמעתך׃
24:17	האנק דם מתים אבל לא תעשׂה פארך חבושׁ עליך ונעליך תשׂים ברגליך ולא תעטה על שׂפם ולחם אנשׁים לא תאכל׃
24:18	ואדבר אל העם בבקר ותמת אשׁתי בערב ואעשׂ בבקר כאשׁר צויתי׃
24:19	ויאמרו אלי העם הלא תגיד לנו מה אלה לנו כי אתה עשׂה׃
24:20	ואמר אליהם דבר יהוה היה אלי לאמר׃
24:21	אמר לבית ישׂראל כה אמר אדני יהוה הנני מחלל את מקדשׁי גאון עזכם מחמד עיניכם ומחמל נפשׁכם ובניכם ובנותיכם אשׁר עזבתם בחרב יפלו׃
24:22	ועשׂיתם כאשׁר עשׂיתי על שׂפם לא תעטו ולחם אנשׁים לא תאכלו׃
24:23	ופארכם על ראשׁיכם ונעליכם ברגליכם לא תספדו ולא תבכו ונמקתם בעונתיכם ונהמתם אישׁ אל אחיו׃
24:24	והיה יחזקאל לכם למופת ככל אשׁר עשׂה תעשׂו בבאה וידעתם כי אני אדני יהוה׃
24:25	ואתה בן אדם הלוא ביום קחתי מהם את מעוזם משׂושׂ תפארתם את מחמד עיניהם ואת משׂא נפשׁם בניהם ובנותיהם׃
24:26	ביום ההוא יבוא הפליט אליך להשׁמעות אזנים׃
24:27	ביום ההוא יפתח פיך את הפליט ותדבר ולא תאלם עוד והיית להם למופת וידעו כי אני יהוה׃


24:1	And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth of the month, saying,
24:2	`Son of man, write for thee the name of the day -- this self-same day leaned hath the king of Babylon toward Jerusalem in this self-same day --
24:3	and use unto the rebellious house a simile, and thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: To set on the pot, to set `it' on, and also to pour into it water,
24:4	To gather its pieces unto it, every good piece, Thigh and shoulder, the choice of the bones to fill in.
24:5	The choice of the flock to take, And also to pile of the bones under it, Boil it thoroughly, yea, cook its bones in its midst.
24:6	Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Wo `to' the city of blood, A pot whose scum `is' in it, And its scum hath not come out of it, By piece of it, by piece of it bring it out, Not fallen on it hath a lot.
24:7	For her blood in her midst hath been, On a clear place of a rock she hath set it, She hath not poured it on the earth, To cover it over with dust.
24:8	To cause fury to come up to take vengeance, I have put her blood on a clear place of a rock -- not to be covered.
24:9	Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Wo `to' the city of blood, yea, I -- I make great the pile.
24:10	Make abundant the wood, Kindle the fire, consume the flesh, And make the compound, And let the bones be burnt.
24:11	And cause it to stand on its coals empty, So that its brass is hot and burning, Melted hath been in its midst its uncleanness, Consumed is its scum.
24:12	`With' sorrows she hath wearied herself, And the abundance of her scum goeth not out of her, In the fire `is' her scum.
24:13	In thine uncleanness `is' wickedness, Because I have cleansed thee, And thou hast not been cleansed, From thine uncleanness thou art not cleansed again, Till I have caused My fury to rest on thee.
24:14	I, Jehovah, hath spoken, It hath come, and I have done `it', I do not free, nor do I spare, nor do I repent, According to thy ways, and according to thine acts, they have judged thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'
24:15	And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,
24:16	`Son of man, lo, I am taking from thee the desire of thine eyes by a stroke, and thou dost not mourn, nor weep, nor let thy tear come.
24:17	Cease to groan, `for' the dead thou dost make no mourning, thy bonnet bind on thee, and thy shoes thou dost put on thy feet, and thou dost not cover over the upper lip, and bread of men thou dost not eat.'
24:18	And I speak unto the people in the morning, and my wife dieth in the evening, and I do in the morning as I have been commanded.
24:19	And the people say unto me, `Dost thou not declare to us what these `are' to us, that thou art doing?'
24:20	And I say unto them, `A word of Jehovah hath been unto me, saying:
24:21	Say to the house of Israel: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am polluting My sanctuary, The excellency of your strength, The desire of your eyes, and the pitied of your soul, And your sons and your daughters whom ye have left, by sword they do fall.
24:22	And ye have done as I have done, On the upper lip ye are not covered, And bread of men ye do not eat.
24:23	And your bonnets `are' on your heads, And your shoes `are' on your feet, Ye do not mourn nor do ye weep, And ye have wasted away for your iniquities, And ye have howled one unto another.
24:24	And Ezekiel hath been to you for a type, According to all that he hath done ye do; In its coming in -- ye have known that I `am' the Lord Jehovah.
24:25	And thou, son of man, Is it not in the day of My taking from them their strength, The joy of their beauty, the desire of their eyes, And the song of their soul, Their sons and their daughters?
24:26	In that day come doth the escaped one to thee. To cause the ears to hear.
24:27	In that day opened is thy mouth with the escaped, And thou speakest, and art not silent any more, And thou hast been to them for a type. And they have known that I `am' Jehovah.'
