Ezekiel - Chapter: 24

>
24:1Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
24:2Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.
24:3And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
24:4Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
24:5Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
24:6Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
24:7For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
24:8That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
24:9Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
24:10Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.
24:11Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.
24:12She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.
24:13In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.
24:14I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.
24:15Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
24:16Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
24:17Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.
24:18So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
24:19And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?
24:20Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
24:21Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
24:22And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
24:23And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.
24:24Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
24:25Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,
24:26That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?
24:27In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.

24:1And the word of the Lord was maad to me, in the nynthe yeer, and in the tenthe monethe, in the tenthe dai of the monethe,
24:2and he seide, Thou, sone of man, write to thee the name of this dai, in which the king of Babiloyne is confermed ayens Jerusalem to dai.
24:3And thou schalt seie bi a prouerbe a parable to the hous, terrere to wraththe, and thou schalt speke to hem, The Lord God seith these thingis, Sette thou a brasun pot, sette thou sotheli, and putte thou watir in to it. Take thou a beeste ful fat;
24:4gadere thou togidere the gobetis therof in it, ech good part, and the hipe, and the schuldre, chosun thingis and ful of boonys.
24:5Also dresse thou heepis of boonys vndur it; and the sething therof buylide out, and the boonys therof weren sodun in the myddis therof.
24:6Therfor the Lord God seith these thingis, Wo to the citee of bloodis, to the pot whos rust is ther ynne, and the rust therof yede not out of it; caste thou out it bi partis, and bi hise partis; lot felle not on it.
24:7For whi the blood therof is in the myddis therof; he schede it out on a ful cleer stoon, he schedde not it out on erthe,
24:8that it mai be hilid with dust, that Y schulde bringe in myn indignacioun, and `a venge bi veniaunce; Y yaf the blood therof on a ful cleer stoon, that it schulde not be hilid.
24:9Therfor the Lord God seith these thingis, Wo to the citee of bloodis, whos brennyng Y schal make greet;
24:10gadere thou togidire boonys, whiche Y schal kyndle with fier; fleischis schulen be wastid, and al the settyng togidere schal be sodun, and boonys schulen faile.
24:11Also sette thou it voide on coolis, that the metal therof wexe hoot, and be meltid, and that the filthe therof be wellid togidere in the myddis therof, and the rust therof be wastid.
24:12It was swat bi myche trauel, and the ouer greet rust therof yede not out therof, nether bi fier.
24:13Thin vnclennesse is abhomynable, for Y wolde clense thee, and thou art not clensid fro thi filthis; but nether thou schalt be clensid bifore, til Y make myn indignacioun to reste in thee.
24:14Y the Lord spak; it schal come, and Y schal make, Y schal not passe, nethir Y schal spare, nether Y schal be plesid; bi thi weies and bi thi fyndyngis Y schal deme thee, seith the Lord.
24:15And the word of the Lord was maad to me,
24:16and he seide, Thou, sone of man, lo! Y take awei fro thee the desirable thing of thin iyen in veniaunce, and thou schalt not weile, nether wepe, nether thi teeris schulen flete doun.
24:17Weile thou beynge stille, thou schalt not make mourenyng of deed men; thi coroun be boundun aboute thin heed, and thi schoon schulen be in the feet, nether thou schalt hile the mouth with a cloth, nether thou schalt ete the metis of mourneris.
24:18Therfor Y spak to the puple in the morewtid, and my wijf was deed in the euentid; and Y dide in the morewtid, as he hadde comaundid to me.
24:19And the puple seide to me, Whi schewist thou not to vs what these thingis signefien, whiche thou doist?
24:20And Y seide to hem, The word of the Lord was maad to me,
24:21and he seide, Speke thou to the hous of Israel, The Lord God seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal defoule my seyntuarie, the pride of youre empire, and the desirable thing of youre iyen, and on which youre soule dredith; and youre sones and youre douytris, whiche ye leften, schulen falle bi swerd.
24:22And ye schulen do, as Y dide; ye schulen not hile mouthis with cloth, and ye schulen not ete the mete of weileris.
24:23Ye schulen haue corouns in youre heedis, and schoon in the feet; ye schulen not weile, nether ye schulen wepe, but ye schulen faile in wretchidnesse, for youre wickidnessis; and ech man schal weile to his brother.
24:24And Ezechiel schal be to you in to a signe of thing to comynge; bi alle thingis whiche he dide, ye schulen do, whanne this thing schal come; and ye schulen wite, that Y am the Lord God.
24:25And thou, sone of man, lo! in the dai in which Y schal take awei fro hem the strengthe of hem, and the ioie of dignyte, and the desire of her iyen, on whiche the soulis of hem resten, caste awei the sones and douytris of hem;
24:26in that dai whanne a man fleynge schal come to thee, to telle to thee;
24:27in that dai sotheli thou schalt opene thi mouth with hym that fledde; and thou schalt speke, and schalt no more be stille; and thou schalt be to hem in to a signe of thing to comynge, and ye schulen witen, that Y am the Lord.

24:1In the nynth yeare, in the tenth moneth, the tenth daye of the moneth, came the worde of the Lord vnto me, sayenge.
24:2O thou sonne of man, wryte vp the name of thys daye, yee, euen the houre of this present daye: when the kyng of Babylon sett hym selfe against Ierusalem.
24:3Shew that obstinate housholde a parable, and speake vnto them: Thus sayeth the Lorde God: Gett the a potte, sett it on, and powre water into it:
24:4put all the peces together in it, all the good peces: the loyne & the shulder, and fyl it with the best bones.
24:5Take one of the best shepe, & an heape of bones withall: let it boyle well, & lett the bones sethe well therin.
24:6With that sayde the Lorde God on thys maner. Wo be vnto the bloudy cytie of the pot, wherupon the rustynes hangeth, & is not yet scoured awaye. Take out the peces that are in it, one after another: there neade not lottes be cast therfore,
24:7for the bloude is yet in it. Upon a playne drye stone hath she powred it, & not vpon the grounde, that it myght be couered wt dust.
24:8And therfore haue I letten her powre her bloude vpon a playne drye stony rocke, because it shulde not be hyd, and that I myght brynge my wrothfull indignacyon & vengeaunce vpon her.
24:9Wherfore, thus sayth the Lord God: O, wo be vnto the bloud thurstye cyte, for whom euen I my selfe will make a grett fyre and sett moche woode,
24:10and kyndell the fyre and seath the fleashe, and spice the pott, so that the very bones shall be brent.
24:11Moreouer I will sett the pott empty vpon the coles, so that his metall shall be brent & molten also for heate, & the fylthynes of yt shall be molten in yt, & the drosse of yt shal be consumed.
24:12Thou tokest great payne thys to defyle thy selfe. And yt will not be purged from the exceadinge drosse in yt: but thorow fyre shall the drosse of yt be puryfyed.
24:13In thy fylthynes euen in thy myscheuous dedes, thou dost contynue & because thy fylthynesse is abhominable, for I haue clensed the, but thou art not clensed. Thou shalt not be pourged from thyne vnclennesse, tyll I haue powred my wrothful indygnacion vpon the.
24:14Euen I the Lorde haue so deuysed. Yee, it is come therto all redy, that I wyll do it. I will not go backe, I will not spare, I will not be intreated: but accordinge to thy wayes & ymaginacions, thou shalt be punyshed, sayeth the Lorde God.
24:15And the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saieng:
24:16Thou sonne of man, beholde, I will take awaye the pleasure of thyne eyes wt a plage: yet shalt thou nether mourne, ner wepe, ner water thy chekes therfore:
24:17thou mayest mourne by thy self alone, but vse no deadly lamentacion. Holde on thy bonet, and put on thy shoes vpon thy fete, couer not thy face, & eat no mourners bread.
24:18So I spake vnto the people by times in the mornyng, & at euen my wyfe dyed: then vpon the next morowe, I dyd as I was commaunded.
24:19And the people sayd vnto me, wilt thou not tell vs what thys signifyeth towarde vs, for this thou doest for our sake.
24:20I answered them, the worde of the Lorde came vnto me sayeng:
24:21Tell the house of Israell, thus sayeth the Lorde God: beholde, I will suspende my sanctuary: euen the glory of your power, the pleasure of your eyes, and the thing that ye loue: your sonnes and daughters whom ye haue left, shal fall thorow the swearde.
24:22Lyke as I haue done, so shall ye do also: Ye shall not hyde your faces, ye shall eate no mourners bread:
24:23your bonnettes shall ye haue vpon your heades, & shoes vpon your fete. Ye shall nether mourne ner wepe, but, in your synnes ye shalbe sorowfull, & one repente with another.
24:24Thus Ezechiel is your shew token. For loke as he hath done, so (when this commeth) ye shall do also: that ye maye lerne to knowe, that I am the Lorde God.
24:25But beholde, O thou sonne of man: In the daye when I take from them theyr power, theyr ioye & honour, the lust of theyr eyes, the burthen of theyr lyfes: namely, theyr sonnes and daughters, shall not this be knowen?
24:26Then shall there one escape, and come vnto the, for to shew the.
24:27In that daye shall thy mouth be opened to him, which is escaped, that thou mayest speake, and be nomore domme. Yee, and thou shalt be theyr shewtoken that they maye knowe, howe that I am the Lord.
