| 5:1 | Preestis, here ye this, and the hous of Israel, perseyue ye, and the hous of the kyng, herkne ye; for whi doom is to you, for ye ben maad a snare to lokyng afer, and as a net spred abrood on Thabor. |
| 5:2 | And ye bowiden doun sacrifices in to depthe; and Y am the lernere of alle hem. |
| 5:3 | Y knowe Effraym, and Israel is not hid fro me; for now Effraym dide fornicacioun, Israel is defoulid. |
| 5:4 | Thei schulen not yiue her thouytis, that thei turne ayen to her God; for the spirit of fornicacioun is in the myddis of hem, and thei knewen not the Lord. |
| 5:5 | And the boost of Israel schal answere in to the face therof, and Israel and Effraym schulen falle in her wickidnesse; also Judas schal falle with hem. |
| 5:6 | In her flockis, and in her droues thei schulen go to seke the Lord, and thei schulen not fynde; he is takun awei fro hem. |
| 5:7 | Thei trespassiden ayens the Lord, for thei gendriden alien sones; now the monethe schal deuoure hem with her partis. |
| 5:8 | Sowne ye with a clarioun in Gabaa, with a trumpe in Rama; yelle ye in Bethauen, after thi bak, Beniamyn. |
| 5:9 | Effraym schal be in to desolacioun, in the dai of amendyng, and in the lynagis of Israel Y schewide feith. |
| 5:10 | The princes of Juda ben maad as takynge terme; Y schal schede out on hem my wraththe as watir. |
| 5:11 | Effraym suffrith fals chalenge, and is brokun bi doom; for he bigan to go after filthis. |
| 5:12 | And Y am as a mouyte to Effraym, and as rot to the hous of Juda. |
| 5:13 | And Effraym siy his sikenesse, and Judas siy his boond. And Effraym yede to Assur, and sente to the kyng veniere. And he mai not saue you, nether he mai vnbynde the boond fro you. |
| 5:14 | For Y am as a lionesse to Effraym, and as a whelp of a lioun to the hous of Juda. |
| 5:15 | Y my silf schal take, and go, and take awei, and noon is that schal delyuere. I schal go, and turne ayen to my place, til ye failen, and seken my face. |

| 5:1 | Heare this, o ye prestes: take hede, o thou housholde of Israel: geue eare, o thou kingly house: for this punyshment wil come vpon you, that are become a snare vnto Myspa, and a spred net vnto the mount of Thabor. |

| 5:3 | I knowe Ephraim well ynough, & Israel is not hyd fro me: for Ephraim is become an harlot, and Israel is defyled. |
| 5:4 | They are not mynded to turne vnto their God, for they haue an whorish herte, so yt they can not knowe the LORDE. |
| 5:5 | But the pryde of Israel wil be rewarded him in his face, yee both Israel and Ephraim shal fall for their wickednesse, and Iuda with them also. |
| 5:6 | They shall come with their shepe & bullockes to seke ye LORDE, but they shal not fynde him, for he is gone from them. |
| 5:7 | As for the LORDE, they haue refused him, and brought vp bastarde children: a moneth therfore shall deuoure them with their porcions. |
| 5:8 | Blowe with the shawmes at Gabea, and with the trumpet in Rama, crie out at Bethauen vpon the yonside of Ben Iamin. |
| 5:9 | In the tyme of ye plage shal Ephraim be layed waist, therfore dyd I faithfully warne the trybes of Israel. |
| 5:10 | Yet are the prynces of Iuda become like them, that remoue the londemarckes, therfore wil I poure out my wrath vpon them like water. |
| 5:11 | Ephraim is oppressed, and can haue no right of the lawe: for why? they folowe ye doctrynes of men. |
| 5:12 | Therfore will I be vnto Ephraim as a moth, & to the house of Iuda as a caterpiller. |
| 5:13 | When Ephraim sawe his sicknesse, and Iuda his disease: Ephraim wente vnto Assur, and sent vnto kinge Iareb: yet coude not he helpe you, ner ease you of youre payne. |
| 5:14 | I am vnto Ephraim as a lyon, and as a lyons whelpe to the house of Iuda. Euen I, I wil spoyle them, & go my waye. I wil take them with me, and no man shal rescue them. |
| 5:15 | I wil go, and returne to my place, till they waxe faynt, and seke me. |
