Hosea - Chapter: 8

8:1Set the Trumpet to thy mouth: hee shall come as an Eagle against the house of the Lord, because they haue transgressed my Couenant, and trespassed against my Lawe.
8:2Israel shall crie vnto me, My God, we know thee.
8:3Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemie shall pursue him.
8:4They haue set vp Kings, but not by me: they haue made Princes, and I knew it not: of their siluer and their golde haue they made them idoles, that they may be cut off.
8:5Thy calfe, O Samaria, hath cast thee off: mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it bee ere they attaine to innocencie?
8:6For from Israel was it also, the workeman made it, therefore it is not God: but the calfe of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
8:7For they haue sowen the winde, and they shall reape the whirlewinde: it hath no stalke: the budde shall yeeld no meale: if so be it yeeld, the strangers shall swallow it vp.
8:8Israel is swallowed vp, now shal they be among the Gentiles, as a vessell wherein is no pleasure.
8:9For they are gone vp to Assyria, a wilde Asse alone by himselfe; Ephraim hath hired louers.
8:10Yea, though they haue hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the King of princes.
8:11Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sinne, altars shall be vnto him to sinne.
8:12I haue written to him the great things of my Law, but they were counted as a strange thing.
8:13They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eate it; but the Lord accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquitie, and visite their sinnes: they shal returne to Egypt.
8:14For Israel hath forgotten his maker, and buildeth temples; and Iudah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire vpon his cities, and it shall deuoure the palaces thereof.

8:8Israel is deuoured, now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessell wherein is no pleasure.
8:9For they are gone vp to Asshur: they are as a wilde asse alone by himselfe: Ephraim hath hired louers.
8:10Yet though they haue hired among the nations, nowe will I gather them, and they shall sorowe a litle, for the burden of the King and the princes.

8:1Set the horne to thy mouth, and blowe: swyftly (as an Aegle) shall the enemye come against the house of the Lorde: for they haue broken my couenaunt, & transgressed my lawe.
8:2Israel shulde haue sayde vnto me: thou art my God, we knowe the:
8:3but he hath refused the thyng that is good, therfore shall the enemy folowe vpon hym.
8:4They haue ordened kynges, but not thorow me: they haue made princes, & I must not knowe of it. Of their syluer & golde haue they made them Images, to brynge them selues to destruccyon.
8:5Thy calf, O Samaria, shalbe taken awaye, for my wrothfull indignacyon is gone forth agaynst the. Howe longe will it be, or they can be clensed.
8:6For the calfe came from Israel, the worke man made it, therfore can it be no God, but euen in peaces shall the calfe of Samaria be broken.
8:7They haue sowne wynde, therfore shall they reape a storme. Their sede shall beare no corne, there shall no meale be made of theyr increase: though they reape, yet shall straungers deuoure it vp.
8:8Israel shall perish, the Gentiles shall intreate him as a foule vessell.
8:9Sence they went vp to the Assyrians, they are become lyke a wylde asse in the deserte. Ephraim geueth rewardes to get louer
8:10and though they hyre them amonge the hethen yet nowe wyll I gather them vp. They shall begynne to be weeryed wyth the burthen of kynges and prynces.
8:11Ephraim hath made many aulters to do wyckednes, hys aulters (I saye) he had to his sinne.
8:12Though I shewe them my lawe neuer so moch, they counte it but straunge doctryne.
8:13Where as they do sacrifyce, offerynge the flesshe and eatinge it: the Lorde wyll haue no pleasure therin: but wyll remembre theyr wickednes, & punishe their synnes. Israel turneth agayne into Egipt,
8:14they haue forgotten him that made them, they buylde fayre palaces, and Iuda maketh many stronge cyties: therfore will I sende a fyre into theyr cyties, and it shall consume their places.
