Amos - Chapter: 2

>
2:1Thus sayth the Lord, For three transgressions of Moab, and for foure, I wil not turne away the punishment thereof, because hee burnt the bones of the King of Edom into lime.
2:2But I will send a fire vpon Moab, and it shall deuoure the palaces of Kerioth, and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:
2:3And I will cut off the iudge from the middest thereof, and wil slay all the princes thereof with him, sayeth the Lord.
2:4Thus sayth the Lord, For three transgressions of Iudah, and for foure, I will not turne away the punishment thereof; because they haue despised the Law of the Lord, and haue not kept his Commandements, and their lies caused them to erre, after the which their fathers haue walked.
2:5But I will send a fire vpon Iudah, and it shall deuoure the palaces of Ierusalem.
2:6Thus sayth the Lord, For three transgressions of Israel, and for foure, I will not turne away the punishment thereof; because they solde the righteous for siluer, and the poore for a paire of shooes:
2:7That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poore, and turne aside the way of the meeke; and a man and his father will goe in vnto the same maid, to profane my holy Name.
2:8And they lay themselues downe vpon clothes laide to pledge, by euery Altar, and they drinke the wine of the condemned in the house of their God.
2:9Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the Cedars, and hee was strong as the okes, yet I destroyed his fruite from aboue, and his rootes from beneath.
2:10Also I brought you vp from the land of Egypt, and ledde you fourtie yeeres through the wildernesse, to possesse the land of the Amorite.
2:11And I raised vp of your sonnes for Prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not euen thus, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord ?
2:12But ye gaue the Nazarites wine to drinke, and commaunded the Prophets, saying, Prophecie not.
2:13Behold, I am pressed vnder you, as a cart is pressed that is ful of sheaues.
2:14Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mightie deliuer himselfe:
2:15Neither shall hee stand that handleth the bow, and hee that is swift of foote, shall not deliuer himselfe, neither shall hee that rideth the horse, deliuer himselfe.
2:16And hee that is couragious among the mighty, shall flee away naked in that day, saith the Lord.

2:1Thus sayeth the LORDE: For thre and foure wickednesses off Moab, I will not spare him: because he brent the bones off the kynge of Edom to asshes.
2:2Therfore wil I sende a fyre in to Moab, which shal cosume ye pallaces of Carioth: so yt Moab shal perish with a noyse, and the sounde of a shawme.
2:3I will rote out the iudge from amoge them, and slaye all his prynces with him, sayeth the LORDE.
2:4Thus sayeth the LORDE: for thre ad foure wickednesses of Iuda, I wil not spare him: because he hath cast asyde the lawe of the LORDE, and not kepte his commaundementes: for why, they wolde nedes be disceaued with the lyes, that their forefathers folowed.
2:5Therfore will I sende a fyre in to Iuda, which shal consume the palaces of Ierusalem.
2:6Thus sayeth the LORDE: For thre & foure wickednesses of Israel, I wil not spare him: because he hath solde the rightuous for money, and the poore for shues.
2:7They treade vpon poore mens heades in the dust of the earth, & croke the wayes off the meke. The sonne and the father go to the harlot, to dishonoure my holy name:
2:8they lye besyde euery aulter vpon clothes taken to pledge, and in the house of their goddes they drynke the wyne of the oppressed.
2:9Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, that was as hie as the Cedre trees, and as stronge as the okes: notwithstodinge I destroyed his frute fro aboue, and his rote from vnder.
2:10Agayne: I brought you out of the londe of Egipte, and led you xl. yeares thorow the wyldernesse, that ye might haue the Amoriters londe in possession.
2:11I raysed vp prophetes amonge youre children, and absteyners amonge youre yoge men. Is it not so, o ye children of Israel, sayeth the LORDE?
2:12But ye gaue the absteyners wyne to drynke, yee ye comaunded the prophetes, sayenge: Prophecy not.
2:13Beholde, I wil crasshe you in sonder, like as a wayne crassheth, yt is full of sheaues:
2:14so that ye swifte shall not escape, nether the stronge be able to do eny thynge: no, the giaunte shal not saue his owne life.
2:15The archer shall not abyde, and the swifte off fote shall not escape. The horsma shal not saue his life,
2:16& he that is as maly of stomack as a giaunte, shall in that daye be fayne to runne his waye naked, sayeth the LORDE.

2:6The Lord seith these thingis, On thre grete trespassis of Israel, and on foure, Y schal not conuerte hym, for that that he seelde a iust man for siluer, and a pore man for schoon.
2:7Whiche al to-foulen the heedis of pore men on the dust of erthe, and bowen awei the weie of meke men; and the sone and his fadir yeden to a damesele, that thei schulden defoule myn hooli name.

2:11And Y reiside of youre sones in to profetis, and Nayareis of youre yonge men. Whether it is not so, ye sones of Israel? seith the Lord.
2:12And ye birliden wyn to Nayareis, and comaundiden to profetis, and seiden, Profecie ye not.
