Amos - Chapter: 3

>
3:1Heare this word that the Lord hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family, which I brought vp from the land of Egypt, saying;
3:2You onely haue I knowen of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.
3:3Can two walke together, except they be agreed?
3:4Will a lyon roare in the forrest, when he hath no pray? will a young lyon cry out of his den, if he haue taken nothing?
3:5Can a bird fall in a snare vpon the earth, where no ginne is for him? shall one take vp a snare from the earth, and haue taken nothing at all?
3:6Shall a trumpet be blowen in the citie, and the people not be afraid? shall there be euill in a citie, and the Lord hath not done it?
3:7Surely the Lord God will doe nothing, but he reuealeth his secret vnto his seruants the Prophets.
3:8The lyon hath roared, Who will not feare? the Lord God hath spoken, Who can but prophecie?
3:9Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say; Assemble your selues vpon the mountaines of Samaria: and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.
3:10For they know not to doe right, saith the Lord; who store vp violence, and robberie in their palaces.
3:11Therefore thus saith the Lord God, An aduersarie there shall be euen round about the land: and he shal bring downe thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.
3:12Thus saith the Lord, As the shepheard taketh out of the mouth of the lyon two legges or a piece of an eare; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria, in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.
3:13Heare yee and testifie in the house of Iacob, saith the Lord God, the God of hostes;
3:14That in the day that I shall visite the transgressions of Israel vpon him, I will also visite the altars of Bethel, and the hornes of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.
3:15And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of yuorie shall perish, and the great houses shall haue an end, saith the Lord.

3:1Heare, what the LORDE speaketh vnto you (o ye children of Israel) namely, vnto all ye trybes, who I brought out of Egipte, and sayde:
3:2You only haue I accepted from all the generacions off the earth: therfore will I vyset you in all youre wickednesses.
3:3Maye twaine walke together excepte they be agreed amonge them selues?
3:4Doth a lyon roare in the wodde, excepte he haue a pray? Or crieth a lyons whelpe out of his denne, excepte he haue gotten somthige?
3:5Doth a byrde fall in a snare vpo ye earth where no fouler is? Taketh a man his snare vp from the grounde, afore he catche somwhat?
3:6Crie they out Alarum with the trompet in the cite, and the people not afrayed? Commeth there eny plage in a cite, without it be the LORDES doinge?
3:7Now doth the LORDE God no maner of thinge, but he telleth his secrete before vnto his seruauntes ye prophetes.
3:8When a lyon roareth, who will not be afrayed? Seynge then that the LORDE God himself speaketh, who will not prophecy?
3:9Preach in the palaces at Asdod, and in the palaces off the londe off Egipte, and saye: gather you together vpon the moutaynes off Samaria, so shall ye se greate murthur and violent oppression amonge them: for why, they regarde not the thinge that is right,
3:10sayeth the LORDE: they gather together euell gotten goodes, and laye vp robbery in their houses.
3:11Therfore, thus sayeth the LORDE God: This londe shalbe troubled and beseged roude aboute, thy strength shalbe plucte from the, and thy palaces robbed.
3:12Thus saieth the LORDE: like as an hyrdeman taketh two legges or a pece off an eare out off the Lyons mouth: Euen so the children of Israel (that dwell in Samaria, hauynge their couches in the corner, and their beddes at Damascus) shalbe plucte awaye.
3:13Heare, and beare recorde in the house of Iacob (sayeth the LORDE God of hoostes)
3:14that when I begynne to vyset the wickednesse of Israel, I will vyset ye aulters at Bethel also: so that the hornes of the aulter shalbe broken of, & fall to the groude.
3:15As for the wynter house and sommer house, I will smyte them downe: and the houses of yuery, yee and many other houses shal perish, and be destroyed, sayeth the LORDE.

3:1Sones of Israel, here ye the word which the Lord spak on you, and on al the kynrede, which Y ledde out of the lond of Egipt,
3:2and seide, Oneli Y knewe you of alle the kynredis of erthe; therfor Y schal visite on you alle youre wickidnessis.
3:3Whether tweyne schulen go togidere, no but it acorde to hem?
3:4Whether a lioun schal rore in a forest, no but he haue prey? Whether the whelp of a lioun schal yyue vois fro his denne, no but he take ony thing?
3:5Whether a brid schal falle in to a snare of erthe, with outen a foulere? Whether a snare schal be takun awei fro erthe, bifor that it tak sum thing?
3:6Whether a trumpe schal sowne in a citee, and the puple schal not drede? Whether yuel schal be in a citee, which yuel the Lord schal not make?
3:7For the Lord God schal not make a word, no but he schewe his priuyte to hise seruauntis profetis.
3:8A lioun schal rore, who schal not drede? the Lord God spak, who schal not profesie?
3:9Make ye herd in the housis of Azotus, and in the housis of the lond of Egipt; and seie ye, Be ye gaderid togidere on the hillis of Samarye, and se ye many woodnessis in the myddis therof, and hem that suffren fals calenge in the priuy places therof.
3:10And thei kouden not do riytful thing, seith the Lord, and tresouriden wickidnesse and raueyn in her housis.
3:11Therfor the Lord God seith these thingis, The lond schal be troblid, and be cumpassid; and thi strengthe schal be drawun doun of thee, and thin housis schulen be rauyschid.
3:12The Lord God seith these thingis, As if a schepherd rauyschith fro the mouth of a lioun tweyne hipis, ether the laste thing of the eere, so the children of Israel schulen be rauyschid, that dwellen in Samarie, in the cuntrei of bed, and in the bed of Damask.
3:13Here ye, and witnesse ye in the hous of Jacob, seith the Lord God of oostis.
3:14For in the dai, whanne Y schal bigynne to visite the trespassyngis of Israel on hym, Y schal visite also on the auteris of Bethel; and the hornes of the auter schulen be kit awei, and schulen falle doun in to erthe.
3:15And Y schal smyte the wynter hous with the somer hous, and the housis of yuer schulen perische, and many housis schulen be distried, seith the Lord.
