Zephaniah - Chapter: 3

>
3:1Woe to her that is filthie and polluted, to the oppressing citie.
3:2She obeyed not the voice: she receiued not correction: she trusted not in the Lord: she drew not neere to her God.
3:3Her princes within her are roaring lyons; her Iudges are euening wolues, they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.
3:4Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests haue polluted the Sanctuarie, they haue done violence to the Law.
3:5The iust Lord is in the middest thereof: he will not doe iniquitie: euery morning doeth hee bring his iudgement to light, he faileth not: but the vniust knoweth no shame.
3:6I haue cut off the nations: their towres are desolate, I made their streetes waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroied, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
3:7I said, Surely thou wilt feare mee: thou wilt receiue instruction: so their dwelling should not bee cut off, howsoeuer I punished them: but they rose early, & corrupted all their doings.
3:8Therefore waite ye vpon mee, sayth the Lord, vntill the day that I rise vp to the pray: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdomes to powre vpon them mine indignation, euen all my fierce anger: for all the earth shalbe deuoured with the fire of my iealousie.
3:9For then will I turne to the people a pure language, that they may all call vpon the Name of the Lord, to serue him with one consent.
3:10From beyond the riuers of Ethiopia, my suppliants, euen the daughter of my dispersed shal bring mine offring.
3:11In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee them that reioyce in thy pride, and thou shalt no more be haughty because of mine holy mountaine.
3:12I will also leaue in the middest of thee an afflicted and poore people: and they shall trust in the Name of the Lord.
3:13The remnant of Israel shall not doe iniquitie, nor speake lies: neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feede, and lie downe, and none shall make them afraid.
3:14Sing, O daughter of Zion: shout, O Israel: be glad and reioyce with all the heart, O daughter of Ierusalem.
3:15The Lord hath taken away thy iudgements, he hath cast out thine enemy: the King of Israel, euen the Lord is in the middest of thee: thou shalt not see euill any more.
3:16In that day it shall be said to Ierusalem, Feare thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slacke.
3:17The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mightie: hee will saue, he will reioyce ouer thee with ioy: hee will rest in his loue, hee will ioy ouer thee with singing.
3:18I will gather them that are sorrowfull for the solemne assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproch of it was a burden.
3:19Behold, at that time I will vndoe all that afflict thee, and I will saue her that halteth, and gather her that was driuen out, and I will get them praise and fame in euery land, where they haue beene put to shame.
3:20At that time will I bring you againe euen in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turne backe your captiuitie before your eyes, saith the Lord.

3:1Woe to her that is filthie and polluted, to the robbing citie.
3:2She heard not the voyce: she receiued not correction: she trusted not in the Lord: she drew not neere to her God.
3:3Her princes within her are as roaring lyons: her iudges are as wolues in the euening, which leaue not the bones till the morow.
3:4Her prophets are light, and wicked persons: her priests haue polluted the Sanctuarie: they haue wrested the Lawe.
3:5The iust Lord is in the middes thereof: he will doe none iniquitie: euery morning doeth hee bring his iudgement to light, he faileth not: but the wicked will not learne to be ashamed.
3:6I haue cut off the nations: their towres are desolate: I haue made their streetes waste, that none shall passe by: their cities are destroyed without man and without inhabitant.
3:7I said, Surely thou wilt feare me: thou wilt receiue instruction: so their dwelling shoulde not be destroyed howsoeuer I visited them, but they rose earely and corrupted all their workes.
3:8Therefore wait ye vpon me, saith the Lord, vntill the day that I rise vp to the praye: for I am determined to gather the nations, and that I will assemble the kingdomes to powre vpon them mine indignation, euen all my fierce wrath: for all the earth shall be deuoured with the fire of my ielousie.
3:9Surely then will I turne to the people a pure language, that they may all call vpon the Name of the Lord, to serue him with one cosent.
3:10From beyonde the riuers of Ethiopia, the daughter of my dispersed, praying vnto me, shall bring me an offering.
3:11In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy workes, wherein thou hast transgressed against mee: for then I will take away out of the middes of thee them that reioyce of thy pride, and thou shalt no more be proude of mine holy Mountaine.
3:12Then will I leaue in the middes of thee an humble and poore people: and they shall trust in the Name of the Lord.
3:13The remnant of Israel shall do none iniquitie, nor speake lies: neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shalbe fed, and lie downe, and none shall make them afraide.
3:14Reioyce, O daughter Zion: be ye ioyfull, O Israel: be glad and reioyce with all thine heart, O daughter Ierusalem.
3:15The Lord hath taken away thy iudgements: hee hath cast out thine enemie: the King of Israel, euen the Lord is in the middes of thee: thou shalt see no more euill.
3:16In that day it shalbe said to Ierusalem, Feare thou not, O Zion: let not thine handes be faint.
3:17The Lord thy God in the middes of thee is mightie: hee will saue, hee will reioyce ouer thee with ioye: he will quiet himselfe in his loue: he will reioyce ouer thee with ioy.
3:18After a certaine time will I gather the afflicted that were of thee, and them that bare the reproch for it.
3:19Beholde, at that time I will bruise all that afflict thee, and I will saue her that halteth, and gather her that was cast out, and I will get them praise and fame in all the landes of their shame.
3:20At that time wil I bring you againe, and then wil I gather you: for I wil giue you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turne backe your captiuitie before your eyes, saith the Lord.

3:1Wo to the abhominable, fylthie, & cruell cytie:
3:2which will not heare, ner be refourmed. Her trust is not in the Lorde, nether will she holde her to her God.
3:3Her rulers within her are as roarynge lyons: her iudges are as wolues in the euenyng, whych leaue nothyng behinde them tyll the morowe.
3:4Her prophetes are lyght personnes & vnfaithfull men: her prestes vnhalowe the sanctuary & do wronge vnder the pretence of the lawe.
3:5But the iust lord that doth no vnright, was amonge them, euery morning shewing them his lawe clearly, & ceassed not. But the vngodly wyll not lerne to be ashamed.
3:6Therfore wil I rote oute this people, & destroye their towres: yee, and make their stretes so voyde, that no man shal goo therin. Their cityes shalbe broken downe, so that no body shall be left, ner dwell there eny more.
3:7I sayd vnto them: O feare me, and be content to be refourmed. That their dwellinge shulde not be destroyed, & that there shulde happen vnto them none of these thynges, wherwith I shall vyset them. But neuertheles, they stande vp early; to folowe the fylthynes of their awne ymaginacions.
3:8Therfore, ye shall wayte vpon me (sayth the Lorde) vntyll the tyme that I stande vp: for I am determined, to gather the people & to bring the kingdomes together, that I may poure out myne anger, ye all my wrothfull dyspleasure vpon them. For al the worlde shall be consumed with the fyre of my gelousy.
3:9And then wyll I clense the lyppes of the people, that they maye euerychone call vpon the name of the Lorde, and serue him with one shulder.

3:14Geue thankes, O daughter Syon, be ioyfull, O Israel: reioyce & be glad from thy whole hert, O daughter Ierusalem,
