| 1:18 | The byrth of Iesus Christe was ou thys wise. When hys mother Mary was betrouthed to Ioseph, before they came to dwell together, she was founde with chylde by the holye Ghost. |
| 1:19 | Then Ioseph her husbande beinge a perfecte man and loth to make an ensample of her, was mynded to put her awaye secretly. |
| 1:20 | While he thus thought, behold the Aungel of the Lord appered vnto him in a dreame, sainge: Ioseph thou sonne of Dauid. fear not to take vnto the Mary thy wife. For that which is conceyued in her is of the holye Ghost. |
| 1:21 | She shall bryngforth a sonne, & thou shalt cal his name Iesus. For he shal saue his people from their sins. |
| 1:22 | All thys was done to fulfyll that whyche was spoken of the Lorde by the Prophet, saiynge: |
| 1:23 | Bholde a mayde shall be wyth chylde, and shal bringe forth a sonne, and they shall call hys name Emanuell, whyche is by interpretation, God wyth vs. |
| 1:24 | And Ioseph assone as he awoke out of slepe, did as the Aungel of the Lorde had bidden him, and toke hys wyfe vnto him, |
| 1:25 | and knewe her not tyl she had broughte forthe her fyrste sonne, and called hys name Iesus. |

| 1:18 | The byrth of Iesus Chryst was on this wyse. When his mother Mary was maryed to Ioseph (before they came to dwell togeather) she was founde with chylde by the holy ghoost. |
| 1:19 | Then Ioseph her husbande (because he was a ryghteous man, and wolde not put her to shame) he was mynded preuely to departe from her. |
| 1:20 | But whyll he thus thought, beholde, the aungell of the Lorde appeared vnto hym in slepe, saying: Ioseph, thou sonne of Dauid: feare not to take vnto the Mary thy wyfe. For that which is conceaued in her, cometh of the holy ghost. |
| 1:21 | She shall brynge forth a sonne, and thou shalt cal hys name Iesus. For he shall saue his people from theyr synnes. |
| 1:22 | Al this was done, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying: |
| 1:23 | Behold, a mayd shalbe wt chylde, & shall bring forth a sonne, & they shall call his name Emanuel, which yf a man interpret, it is asmoch to say as God with vs. |
| 1:24 | And Ioseph as sone as he awoke out of slepe, dyd as the angel of the Lorde had bydden hym: and he toke hys wyfe vnto hym, |
| 1:25 | & knewe her not, tyll she had brought forth her fyrst begotten sonne, and called his name Iesus. |

| 1:17 | So all the generations from Abraham to Dauid, are fourtene generations. And from Dauid vntil they were caried away into Babylon, fourtene generations: and after they were caried away into Babylon vntill Christ, fourteene generations. |
| 1:18 | Nowe the birth of Jesus Christ was thus, When as his mother Mary was betrothed to Ioseph, before they came together, shee was found with childe of the holy Ghost. |
| 1:19 | Then Ioseph her husband being a iust man, and not willing to make her a publike example, was minded to put her away secretly. |
| 1:20 | But whiles he thought these things, behold, the Angel of the Lord appeared vnto him in a dreame, saying, Ioseph, the sonne of Dauid, feare not to take Mary thy wife: for that which is conceiued in her, is of the holy Ghost. |
| 1:21 | And she shall bring foorth a sonne, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for hee shall saue his people from their sinnes. |
| 1:22 | And al this was done that it might be fulfilled, which is spoken of the Lord by ye Prophet, saying, |
| 1:23 | Behold, a virgine shalbe with childe, and shall beare a sonne, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is by interpretation, God with vs. |
| 1:24 | Then Ioseph, being raised from sleepe, did as the Angel of the Lord had inioyned him, and tooke his wife. |
| 1:25 | But he knew her not, til she had broght forth her first borne sonne, and he called his name JESUS. |
