| 2:2 | sayinge. Where is he that is borne kinge of Iewes? We haue sene his star in the east, and are come to worshyppe hym. |
| 2:3 | When Herode the kinge had herde this, he was troubled, and al Ierusalem with him, |
| 2:4 | and he gathered al the chiefe priestes and scribes of the people, & axed of them where Christe shoulde be borne. |
| 2:5 | And they sayd vnto hym: at Bethleem in Iury. For thus it is wrytten by the prophete. |
| 2:6 | And thou Bethleem in the land of Iury, art not the least concerning the Princes of Iuda. For out of the shal come the captaine, that shall gouerne my people Israel. |
| 2:7 | Then Herode preuily called the wyse men, and diligently enquired of them, the tyme of the starre that apeared, |
| 2:8 | and sent them to Bethleem sayinge: Go and searche diligentlye for the childe. And when ye haue founde hym, bringe me worde, that I may come and worshyppe him also. |
| 2:9 | When they hearde the kynge, they departed: and lo the starre which they sawe in the east went before them, tyll it came and stode ouer the place wher the childe was. |
| 2:10 | When they sawe the starre, they were maruelously glad: |
| 2:11 | and went into the house, and found the chylde with Mary his mother, and kneled doune & worshypped him, and opened their treasures and offred to him giftes golde, frankinsence and myrre. |
| 2:12 | And after they were warned of God in a dreame, that they should not go agayne to Herode, they retourned into their owne countre another waye. |
| 2:13 | When they were departed: Beholde the aungell of the Lorde appeared to Ioseph in a dreame sayinge. Aryse, and take the chylde & his mother, and flee into Egipte, and abyde there tyll I bringe the worde. For Herode wil seke the chylde to destroye him. |
| 2:14 | Then he arose and toke the chylde and his mother by night and departed into Egypte, |
| 2:15 | and was there vnto the death of Herode to fulfyll that whiche was spoken of the Lord by the prophete, which saieth out of Egipt haue I called my sonne. |
| 2:16 | Then Herode perceauing that he was mocked of the wyse men, was excedinge wroth, & sent forth and slue al the children that were in Bethleem, and in all the costes therof, as many as were two yere olde and vnder according to the time which he had diligently searched out of the wise men. |

| 2:21 | Then he arose vp, and toke the childe and his mother, & came into the lande of Israell. |
| 2:22 | But when he hearde that Archelaus did raygne in Iurye, in the roume of his father Herode, he was afraide to go thither. Notwithstanding after he was warned of God in a dreame, he turned a syde into the partyes of Galile, |
| 2:23 | & went & dwelt in a citie called Nazareth, to fulfyl that which was spoken by the prophetes: he shalbe called a Nazarite. |

| 2:6 | And thou Bethleem in the lande of Iuda, art not the leest among the princes of Iuda. For oute of the shal there come vnto me the captayne, that shall gouerne my people Israel. |
| 2:7 | Then Herode (when he had preuely called the wyse men) he enquyred of them diligently what tyme the starre appered, |
| 2:8 | & he bad them go to Bethleem, & sayd: God your waye thither, & searche diligently for the childe. And when ye haue founde him, bryng me word agayne, that I maye come and worshyp hym also. |
| 2:9 | When they had heard the kyng, they departed: and lo, the starre which they sawe in the easte, went before them, tyll it came, & stode ouer the place, wherin the chylde was. |
| 2:10 | When they sawe the starre, they were exceadynge glad: |
| 2:11 | and went into the house, and found the chylde with Mary his mother & fel downe flatt and worshipped hym, and opened their treasures & offered vnto hym gyftes, golde, franckincense, & myrre. |
| 2:12 | And after they were warned of God in slepe (that they shuld not go agayne to Herode) they returned into their awne countre another waye. |
| 2:13 | When they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appered to Ioseph in slepe saying, aryse, & take the chyld and his mother, and flye into Egipt: and be thou there tyll I brynge the worde. For it wyll come to passe that Herode shall seke the chylde, to destroye hym. |
| 2:14 | So whan he awoke, he toke the childe and hys mother by night, and departed into Egipt, |
| 2:15 | and was there vnto the deeth of Herode, that it myght be fulfylled, which was spoken of the Lorde by the prophete, sayenge: out of Egypt haue I called my sonne. |
| 2:16 | Then Herode whan he sawe that he was mocked of the wyse men, he was exceading wroth, & sent forth men of warre, & slue all the chyldren that were in Bethleem, and in all the coastes, (as many as were two yeere olde or vnder) accordynge to the tyme, whych he had dilygently knowe out of the wyse men. |

| 2:9 | So when they had heard the King, they departed: and loe, the starre which they had seene in the East, went before them, till it came and stoode ouer the place where the babe was. |
| 2:10 | And when they sawe the starre, they reioyced with an exceeding great ioy, |
| 2:11 | And went into the house, and founde the babe with Mary his mother, and fell downe, and worshipped him, and opened their treasures, and presented vnto him giftes, euen golde, and frankincense, and myrrhe. |
| 2:12 | And after they were warned of God in a dreame, that they should not go againe to Herod, they returned into their countrey another way. |
| 2:13 | After their departure, behold, the Angel of the Lord appeareth to Ioseph in a dreame, saying, Arise, and take the babe and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be there til I bring thee word: for Herod will seeke the babe, to destroy him. |
| 2:14 | So he arose and tooke the babe and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt, |
| 2:15 | And was there vnto the death of Herod, that that might be fulfilled, which is spoken of the Lord by the Prophet, saying, Out of Egypt haue I called my sonne. |
| 2:16 | Then Herod, seeing that he was mocked of the Wisemen, was exceeding wroth, and sent foorth, and slew all the male children that were in Beth-leem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two yeere old and vnder, according to the time which he had diligently searched out of the Wisemen. |
