Matthew - Chapter: 6

>
6:1Take heed that yee doe not your almes before men, to bee seene of them: otherwise yee haue no reward of your father which is in heauen.
6:2Therefore, when thou doest thine almes, doe not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites doe, in the Synagogues, and in the streetes, that they may haue glory of men. Uerily, I say vnto you, they haue their reward.
6:3But when thou doest almes, let not thy left hand know, what thy right doeth:
6:4That thine almes may be in secret: And thy father which seeth in secret, himselfe shall reward thee openly.
6:5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they loue to pray standing in the Synagogues, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seene of men. Uerily I say vnto you, they haue their reward.
6:6But thou when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy doore, pray to thy father which is in secret, and thy father which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
6:7But when yee pray, vse not vaine repetitions, as the heathen doe. For they thinke that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
6:8Be not yee therefore like vnto them: For your father knoweth what things yee haue neede of, before yee aske him.
6:9After this maner therefore pray yee: Our father which art in heauen, hallowed be thy name.
6:10Thy kingdome come. Thy will be done, in earth, as it is in heauen.
6:11Giue vs this day our daily bread.
6:12And forgiue vs our debts, as we forgiue our debters.
6:13And lead vs not into temptation, but deliuer vs from euill: For thine is the kingdome, and the power, and the glory, for euer, Amen.
6:14For, if yee forgiue men their trespasses, your heauenly father will also forgiue you.
6:15But, if yee forgiue not men their trespasses, neither will your father forgiue your trespasses.
6:16Moreouer, when yee fast, be not as the Hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appeare vnto men to fast: Uerily I say vnto you, they haue their reward.
6:17But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face:
6:18That thou appeare not vnto men to fast, but vnto thy father which is in secret: and thy father which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
6:19Lay not vp for your selues treasures vpon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where theeues breake thorow, and steale.
6:20But lay vp for your selues treasures in heauen, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, & where theeues doe not breake thorow, nor steale.
6:21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
6:22The light of the body is the eye: If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shalbe full of light.
6:23But if thine eye be euill, thy whole body shall be full of darknesse. If therfore the light that is in thee be darkenesse, how great is that darkenesse?
6:24No man can serue two masters: for either he will hate the one and loue the other, or else hee will holde to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serue God and Mammon.
6:25Therfore I say vnto you, Take no thought for your life, what yee shall eate, or what ye shall drinke, nor yet for your body, what yee shall put on: Is not the life more then meate? and the body then raiment?
6:26Behold the foules of the aire: for they sow not, neither do they reape, nor gather into barnes, yet your heauenly father feedeth them. Are yee not much better then they?
6:27Which of you by taking thought, can adde one cubite vnto his stature?
6:28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lillies of the field, how they grow: they toile not, neither doe they spinne.
6:29And yet I say vnto you, that euen Solomon in all his glory, was not arayed like one of these.
6:30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grasse of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the ouen: shall he not much more clothe you, O yee of little faith?
6:31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eate? or, what shall we drinke? or wherewithall shall wee be clothed?
6:32(For after all these things doe the Gentiles seeke:) for your heauenly father knoweth that ye haue neede of all these things.
6:33But seeke ye first the kingdome of God, and his righteousnesse, and all these things shalbe added vnto you.
6:34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of it selfe: sufficient vnto the day is the euill thereof.

6:1Take hede to youre almes, that ye geue it not in the syght of men, to the intent that ye wolde be sene of them: or els, ye get no rewarde of youre father which is in heauen.
6:2When soeuer therfore thou geuest thine almes, thou shalt not make a trompet to be blowen before the, as the ypocrites do in the synagoges and in the stretes, for to be praysed of me. Verely I saye vnto you: they haue their rewarde.
6:3But whe thou doest almes, let not thy lefte hande knowe, what thy righte hande doth;
6:4that thine almes maye be secrete: and thy father which seith in secrete, shall rewarde the openly.
6:5And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as ye ypocrytes are. For they loue to stode and praye in the synagoges, and in the corners of the stretes, to be sene of men. Verely I saie vnto you: they haue their rewarde.
6:6But when thou prayest, entre in to thy chamber, and shut thy dore to the, & praye to thy father which is in secrete: and thy father which seith in secrete, shall rewarde the openly.
6:7And when ye praye, bable not moch, as ye Hethen do: for they thinke that they shalbe herde, for their moch bablynges sake.
6:8Be not ye lyke them therfore. For youre father knoweth where of ye haue nede, before ye axe of him.
6:9After thys maner therfore shall ye praye:O oure father which art in heauen, halowed be thy name.
6:10Thy kyngdome come. Thy wyll be fulfilled vpon earth as it is in heauen.
6:11Geue vs this daye oure dayly bred.
6:12And forgeue vs oure dettes, as we also forgeue oure detters.
6:13And lede vs not in to teptacion: but delyuer vs from euell. For thyne is the kyngdome, and the power, and the glorye for euer. Amen.
6:14For yf ye forgeue other men their treaspases, youre heauenly father shall also forgeue you.
6:15But and ye wyll not forgeue me their trespases, nomore shall youre father forgeue you youre trespases.
6:16Moreouer when ye fast, be not sad as ye ypocrytes are. For they disfigure their faces, that they myght be sene of men to fast. Verely I saye vnto you: they haue their rewarde.
6:17But thou, whe thou fastest, annoynte thyne heed, and wash thy face,
6:18that it appeare not vnto men, that thou fastest: but vnto thy father which is in secrete: and thy father which seyth in secrete, shal rewarde the openly.
6:19Se that ye gather you not treasure vpon the earth, where rust and mothes corrupte, and where theues breake through and steale.
6:20But gather you treasure together in heauen, where nether rust nor mothes corrupte, and where theues nether breake vp nor yet steale.
6:21For where youre treasure is, there is youre herte also.
6:22The eye is the light of the body. Yf thyne eye then be syngle, all thy body shalbe ful of light:
6:23But and yf thyne eye be wycked, all thy body shalbe full of darckenes: Wherfore yf the light that is in the, be darckenes, how greate then shall that darckenes be?
6:24No ma can serue two masters. For ether he shall hate the one and loue the other: or els he shall leane to the one, and despise the other: Ye can not serue God and mammon.
6:25Therfore I saye vnto you: be not ye carefull for your lyfe, what ye shall eate, or what ye shall drinke: nor yet for youre body, what ye shal put on. Ys not the lyfe more worth the meate, and the body more of value then raymet?
6:26Beholde the foules of ye ayer: for they sowe not, nether reepe, nor yet cary in to the barnes: and yet youre heauely father fedeth the. Are ye not moch better the they?
6:27Which of you (though he toke thought therfore) coulde put one cubit vnto his stature?
6:28why care ye then for rayment? Considre the lylies of the felde, how they growe. They laboure not, nether spynne.
6:29And yet for all that I saye vnto you, that euen Salomon in all his royalte was not arayed lyke vnto one of these.
6:30Wherfore yf God so cloth the grasse, which is to daye in the felde, and to morowe shalbe cast into the fornace: shal he not moch more do the same vnto you, o ye of lytle fayth?
6:31Therfore take no thought, sayinge: what shall we eate, or what shall we drinke? or where with shall we be clothed?
6:32After all soch thynges do the heithen seke. For youre heauenly father knoweth, that ye haue nede of all these thynges.
6:33Seke ye fyrst the kyngdome of heauen and the righteousnes therof, so shal all these thynges be ministred vnto you.
6:34Care not then for the morow, for the morow shall care for it self: Euery daye hath ynough of his owne trauayll.

6:1Takith hede, that ye do not youre riytwisnesse bifor men, to be seyn of hem, ellis ye schulen haue no meede at youre fadir that is in heuenes.
6:2Therfore whanne thou doist almes, nyle thou trumpe tofore thee, as ypocritis doon in synagogis and stretis, that thei be worschipid of men; sotheli Y seie to you, they han resseyued her meede.
6:3But whanne thou doist almes, knowe not thi left hond what thi riyt hond doith, that thin almes be in hidils,
6:4and thi fadir that seeth in hiddils, schal quyte thee.
6:5And whanne ye preyen, ye schulen not be as ipocritis, that louen to preye stondynge in synagogis and corneris of stretis, to be seyn of men; treuli Y seie to you, thei han resseyued her meede.
6:6But whanne thou schalt preye, entre in to thi couche, and whanne the dore is schet, preye thi fadir in hidils, and thi fadir that seeth in hidils, schal yelde to thee.
6:7But in preiyng nyle yee speke myche, as hethene men doon, for thei gessen that thei ben herd in her myche speche.
6:8Therfor nyle ye be maad lich to hem, for your fadir woot what is nede to you, bifore that ye axen hym.
6:9And thus ye schulen preye, Oure fadir that art in heuenes, halewid be thi name;
6:10thi kyngdoom come to; be thi wille don `in erthe as in heuene;
6:11yyue to vs this dai oure `breed ouer othir substaunce;
6:12and foryyue to vs oure dettis, as we foryyuen to oure dettouris; and lede vs not in to temptacioun,
6:13but delyuere vs fro yuel.
6:14Amen. For if ye foryyuen to men her synnes, youre heuenli fadir schal foryyue to you youre trespassis.
6:15Sotheli if ye foryyuen not to men, nether youre fadir schal foryyue to you youre synnes.
6:16But whanne ye fasten, nyle ye be maad as ypocritis sorewful, for thei defacen hem silf, to seme fastyng to men; treuli Y seie to you, they han resseyued her meede.
6:17But whanne thou fastist, anoynte thin heed, and waische thi face,
6:18that thou be not seen fastynge to men, but to thi fadir that is in hidlis, and thi fadir that seeth in priuey, shal yelde to thee.
6:19Nile ye tresoure to you tresouris in erthe, where ruste and mouyte destrieth, and where theues deluen out and stelen;
6:20but gadere to you tresouris in heuene, where nether ruste ne mouyte distrieth, and where theues deluen not out, ne stelen.
6:21For where thi tresoure is, there also thin herte is.
6:22The lanterne of thi bodi is thin iye; if thin iye be symple, al thi bodi shal be liytful;
6:23but if thin iye be weiward, al thi bodi shal be derk. If thanne the liyt that is in thee be derknessis, how grete schulen thilk derknessis be?
6:24No man may serue tweyn lordis, for ethir he schal hate `the toon, and loue the tother; ethir he shal susteyne `the toon, and dispise the tothir. Ye moun not serue God and richessis.
6:25Therfor I seie to you, that ye be not bisi to youre lijf, what ye schulen ete; nether to youre bodi, with what ye schulen be clothid. Whether lijf is not more than meete, and the bodie more than cloth?
6:26Biholde ye the foulis of the eire, for thei sowen not, nethir repen, nethir gaderen in to bernes; and youre fadir of heuene fedith hem. Whether ye ben not more worthi than thei?
6:27But who of you thenkynge mai putte to his stature o cubit?
6:28And of clothing what ben ye bisye? Biholde ye the lilies of the feeld, how thei wexen. Thei trauelen not, nether spynnen;
6:29and Y seie to you, Salomon in al his glorie was not keuered as oon of these.
6:30And if God clothith thus the hei of the feeld, that to day is, and to morewe is cast in to an ouen, hou myche more you of litel feith?
6:31Therfor nyle ye be bisi, seiynge, What schulen we ete? or, What schulen we drinke? or, With what thing schulen we be keuered?
6:32For hethene men seken alle these thingis; and youre fadir woot, that ye han nede to alle these thingis.
6:33Therfor seke ye first the kyngdom of God, and his riytfulnesse, and alle these thingis shulen be cast to you.
6:34Therfor nyle ye be bisy in to the morew, for the morew shal be bisi to `hym silf; for it suffisith to the dai his owen malice.
