13:1	In that dai Jhesus yede out of the hous, and sat bisidis the see.
13:2	And myche puple was gaderid to hym, so that he wente up in to a boot, and sat; and al the puple stood on the brenke.
13:3	And he spac to hem many thingis in parablis, and seide, Lo! he that sowith, yede out to sowe his seed.
13:4	And while he sowith, summe seedis felden bisidis the weie, and briddis of the eir camen, and eeten hem.
13:5	But othere seedis felden in to stony places, where thei hadden not myche erthe; and anoon thei sprongen vp, for thei hadden not depnesse of erthe.
13:6	But whanne the sonne was risun, thei swaliden, and for thei hadden not roote, thei drieden vp.
13:7	And other seedis felden among thornes; and thornes woxen vp, and strangeleden hem.
13:8	But othere seedis felden in to good lond, and yauen fruyt; summe an hundrid foold, an othir sixti foold, an othir thritti foold.
13:9	He that hath eris of heryng, here he.
13:10	And the disciplis camen nyy, and seiden to him, Whi spekist thou in parablis to hem?
13:11	And he answeride, and seide to hem, `For to you it is youun to knowe the priuytees of the kyngdom of heuenes; but it is not youun to hem.
13:12	For it shal be youun to hym that hath, and he shal haue plente; but if a man hath not, also that thing that he hath shal be takun awei fro hym.
13:13	Therfor Y speke to hem in parablis, for thei seynge seen not, and thei herynge heren not, nether vndurstonden;
13:14	that the prophesie of Ysaie `seiynge be fulfillid `in hem, With heryng ye schulen here, and ye shulen not vndurstonde; and ye seynge schulen se, and ye shulen not se;
13:15	for the herte of this puple is greetli fattid, and thei herden heuyli with eeris, and thei han closed her iyen, lest sumtime thei seen with iyen, and with eeris heeren, and vndirstonden in herte, and thei be conuertid, and Y heele hem.
13:16	But youre iyen that seen ben blesside, and youre eeris that heren.
13:17	Forsothe Y seie to you, that manye profetis and iust men coueitiden to se tho thingis that ye seen, and thei sayn not, and to heere tho thingis that ye heren, and thei herden not.
13:18	Therfor here ye the parable of the sowere.
13:19	Ech that herith the word of the rewme, and vndirstondith not, the yuel spirit cometh, and rauyschith that that is sowun in his herte; this it is, that is sowun bisidis the weie.
13:20	But this that is sowun on the stony loond, this it is, that herith the word of God, and anoon with ioye takith it.
13:21	And he hath not roote in hym silf, but is temporal. For whanne tribulacioun and persecucioun is maad for the word, anoon he is sclaundrid.
13:22	But he that is sowun in thornes, is this that heerith the word, and the bisynesse of this world, and the fallace of ritchessis strangulith the word, and it is maad with outen fruyt.
13:23	But he that is sowun in to good loond, is this that herith the word, and vnderstondeth, and bryngith forth fruyt. And summe makith an hundrid fold, treuli anothir sixti fold, and another thritti fold.
13:24	Anothir parable Jhesus puttide forth to hem, and seide, The kyngdom of heuenes is maad lijk to a man, that sewe good seed in his feld.
13:25	And whanne men slepten, his enemy cam, and sewe aboue taris in the myddil of whete, and wente awei.
13:26	But whanne the erbe was growed, and made fruyt, thanne the taris apperiden.
13:27	And the seruauntis of the hosebonde man camen, and seiden to hym, Lord, whether hast thou not sowun good seed in thi feeld? where of thanne hath it taris?
13:28	And he seide to hem, An enemy hath do this thing. And the seruauntis seiden to him, `Wolt thou that we goon, and gaderen hem?
13:29	And he seide, Nay, lest perauenture ye in gaderynge taris drawen vp with hem the whete bi the roote.
13:30	Suffre ye hem bothe to wexe in to repyng tyme; and in the tyme of ripe corne Y shal seie to the reperis, First gadere ye to gidere the taris, and bynde hem to gidere in knytchis to be brent, but gadere ye whete in to my berne.
13:31	Another parable Jhesus puttide forth to hem, and seide, The kyngdom of heuenes is lijk to a corn of seneuey, which a man took, and sewe in his feeld.
13:32	Which is the leeste of alle seedis, but whanne it hath woxen, it is the moste of alle wortis, and is maad a tre; so that briddis of the eir comen, and dwellen in the bowis therof.
13:33	Another parable Jhesus spac to hem, The kyngdom of heuenes is lijk to sour douy, which a womman took, and hidde in thre mesuris of mele, til it were alle sowrid.
13:34	Jhesus spac alle thes thingis in parablis to the puple, and he spac not to hem with out parablis, that it schulde be fulfillid,
13:35	that is seid bi the prophete, seiynge, Y shal opene my mouth in parablis; Y shal telle out hid thingis fro the makyng of the world.
13:36	Thanne he lefte the puple, and cam in to an hous; and hise disciplis camen to him, and seiden, Expowne to vs the parable of taris of the feeld.
13:37	Which answeride, and seide, He that sowith good seed is mannus sone;
13:38	the feeld is the world; but the good seed, these ben sones of the kyngdom, but taris, these ben yuele children;
13:39	the enemye that sowith hem is the feend; and the ripe corn is the endyng of the world, the reperis ben aungels.
13:40	Therfor as taris ben gaderid togidere, and ben brent in fier, so it shal be in the endyng of the world.
13:41	Mannus sone shal sende hise aungels, and thei schulen gadere fro his rewme alle sclaundris, and hem that doon wickidnesse;
13:42	and thei schulen sende hem in to the chymney of fier, there shal be weping and betyng to gidere of teeth.
13:43	Thanne iuste men schulen schyne as the sunne, in the rewme of her fadir. He that hath eeris of heryng, here he.
13:44	The kyngdom of heuenes is lijk to tresour hid in a feld, which a man that fyndith, hidith; and for ioye of it he goith, and sillith alle thingis that he hath, and bieth thilk feeld.
13:45	Eftsoone the kyngdom of heuenes is lijk to a marchaunt, that sechith good margaritis;
13:46	but whanne he hath foundun o precious margarite, he wente, and selde alle thingis that he hadde, and bouyte it.
13:47	Eft the kyngdom of heuenes is lijk to a nette cast into the see, and that gaderith to gidere of al kynde of fisschis;
13:48	which whanne it was ful, thei drowen vp, and seten bi the brenke, and chesen the goode in to her vessels, but the yuel thei kesten out.
13:49	So it schal be in the endyng of the world. Aungels schulen go out, and schulen departe yuel men fro the myddil of iuste men.
13:50	And thei shulen sende hem in to the chymnei of fier; ther shal be weping and gryntyng of teeth.
13:51	Han ye vndirstonde alle these thingis? Thei seien to hym, Yhe.
13:52	He seith to hem, Therfor euery wise man of lawe in the kyngdom of heuenes, is lijk to an hosebonde man, that bryngith forth of his tresoure newe thingis and elde.
13:53	And it was doon, whanne Jhesus hadde endid these parablis, he passide fro thennus.
13:54	And he cam in to his cuntrei, and tauyte hem in her synagogis, so that thei wondriden, and seiden, Fro whennus this wisdam and vertues camen to this?
13:55	Whether `is not this the sone of a carpentere? Whether his modir be not seid Marie? and hise britheren, James, and Joseph, and Symount, and Judas? and hise sistris,
13:56	whether thei alle ben not among us? Fro whennus thanne `alle thes thingis camen to this?
13:57	And so thei weren sclaundrid in hym. But Jhesus seide to hem, A profete is not with oute worschip, but in his owen cuntre, and in his owen hous.
13:58	And he dide not there manye vertues, for the vnbileue of hem.


13:1	The same daye wet Iesus out of ye house and sat by the seesyde
13:2	and moch people resorted vnto him so gretly yt he wet and sat in a shippe and all the people stode on ye shoore.
13:3	And he spake many thynges to the in similitudes sayinge: Beholde ye sower wet forth to sowe.
13:4	And as he sowed some fell by ye wayessyde and the fowlles came and devoured it vp.
13:5	Some fell apo stony groude where it had not moche erth and a none it sproge vp because it had no depth of erth:
13:6	and when ye sunne was vp it cauht heet and for lake of rotynge wyddred awaye.
13:7	Some fell amoge thornes and the thornes sproge vp and chooked it.
13:8	Parte fell in good groud and brought forth good frute: some an hudred fold some sixtie fold some thyrty folde.
13:9	Whosoever hath eares to heare let him heare.
13:10	And the disciples came and sayde to him: Why speakest thou to the in parables?
13:11	He answered and sayde vnto them: it is geve vnto you to knowe ye secretes of the kyngdome of heve but to the it is not geve.
13:12	For whosoever hath to him shall be geven: and he shall have aboundance. But whosoever hath not: fro hym shalbe takyn awaye even that he hath.
13:13	Therfore speake I to them in similitudes: for though they se they se not: and hearinge they heare not: nether vnderstonde.
13:14	And in the is fulfilled ye Prophesie of Esayas which prophesie sayth: with the eares ye shall heare and shall not vnderstonde and with the eyes ye shall se and shall not perceave.
13:15	For this peoples hertes are wexed grosse and their eares were dull of herynge and their eyes have they closed lest they shulde se with their eyes and heare with their eares and shuld vnderstonde with their hertes and shuld tourne that I myght heale them.
13:16	But blessed are youre eyes for they se: and youre eares for they heare.
13:17	Verely I say vnto you that many Prophetes and perfaicte me have desired to se tho thinges which ye se and have not sene the: and to heare tho thinges which ye heare and have not herde the.
13:18	Heare ye therfore ye similitude of the sower.
13:19	Whosoever heareth the worde of ye kingdome and vnderstondeth it not ther cometh the evyll ma and catcheth awaye yt which was sowne in his hert. And this is he which was sowne by the wayesyde.
13:20	But he yt was sowne in ye stony groude is he which heareth the worde of God and anone wt ioye receaveth it
13:21	yet hath he no rottes in him selfe and therfore dureth but a season: for assone as tribulacion or persecucion aryseth because of the worde by and by he falleth.
13:22	He yt was sowne amoge thornes is he yt heareth ye worde of God: but the care of this worlde and the dissaytfulnes of ryches choke ye worde and so is he made vnfrutfull.
13:23	He which is sowne in ye good grounde is he yt heareth ye worde and vnderstodeth it which also bereth frute and bringeth forth some an.C. folde some sixtie folde and some .xxx. folde.
13:24	Another similitude put he forth vnto the sayinge: The kyngdome of heve is lyke vnto a man which sowed good seed in his felde.
13:25	But whyll men slepte ther came his foo and sowed tares amoge ye wheate and wet his waye.
13:26	When ye blade was sproge vp and had brought forth frute the appered ye tares also.
13:27	The servauntes came to the housholder and sayde vnto him: Syr sowedest not thou good seed in thy closse fro whece the hath it tares?
13:28	He sayde to the the envious ma hath done this. Then ye servauntes sayde vnto him: wilt thou then yt we go and gader them?
13:29	But he sayde nay lest whill ye go aboute to wede out ye tares ye plucke vppe also wt them ye wheate by ye rottes:
13:30	let bothe growe to gether tyll harvest come and in tyme of harvest I wyll saye to the repers gather ye fyrst ye tares and bind the in sheves to be bret: but gather the wheete into my barne.
13:31	Another parable he put forthe vnto the sayinge. The kyngdome of heve is lyke vnto a grayne of mustard seed which a ma taketh and soweth in his felde
13:32	which is ye leest of all seedes. But when it is groune it is the greatest amoge yerbes and it is a tree: so yt the bryddes of the ayer come and bylde in the brauches of it.
13:33	Another similitude sayde he to them. The kyngdome of heven is lyke vnto leve which a woman taketh and hydeth in .iii. peckes of meele tyll all be levended.
13:34	All these thynge spake Iesus vnto the people by similitudes and with oute similitudes spake he nothinge to them
13:35	to fulfyll that which was spoke by the Prophet sayinge: I wyll ope my mouth in similitudes and wyll speake forth thinges which have bene kepte secrete from the begynninge of the worlde.
13:36	Then sent Iesus ye people awaye and came to housse. And his disciples came vnto him sayinge: declare vnto vs the similitude of the tares of the felde.
13:37	Then answered he and sayde to them. He that soweth the good seed is the sonne of man.
13:38	And ye felde is the worlde. And the chyldre of the kingdome they are ye good seed. And the tares are the chyldren of ye wicked.
13:39	And the enemye that soweth the is ye devell. The harvest is ye end of the worlde. And the repers be ye angels.
13:40	For eve as the tares are gaddred and bret in ye fyre: so shall it be in ye ende of this worlde.
13:41	The sonne of man shall send forth his angels and they shall gather out of his kyngdome all thinges that offende and them which do iniquite
13:42	and shall cast them into a furnes of fyre. There shalbe waylynge and gnasshing of teth.
13:43	Then shall the iuste men shyne as bryght as the sunne in ye kyngdome of their father. Whosoever hath eares to heare let him heare.
13:44	Agayne ye kyngdome of heve is lyke vnto treasure hidde in the felde ye which a man fyndeth and hideth: and for ioy therof goeth and selleth all that he hath and byeth that felde.
13:45	Agayne ye kyngdome of heve is lyke vnto a marchaunt that seketh good pearles
13:46	which when he had founde one precious pearle wet and solde all that he had and bought it.
13:47	Agayne the kyngdome of heve is lyke vnto a neet cast into ye see yt gadereth of all kyndes of fysshes:
13:48	which whe it is full men drawe to londe and sitte and gadre the good into vessels and cast the bad awaye.
13:49	So shall it be at the ende of the worlde. The angels shall come oute and sever the bad from the good
13:50	and shall cast them into a furnes of fyre: there shalbe waylinge and gnasshynge of teth.
13:51	Iesus sayde vnto them: vnderstonde ye all these thynges? They sayde ye Lorde.
13:52	The sayde he vnto them: Therfore every scribe which is taught vnto the kyngdome of heve is lyke an housholder which bryngeth forth out of hys treasure thynges bothe new and olde.
13:53	And it came to passe when Iesus had finisshed these similitudes yt he departed thece
13:54	and came in to his awne coutre and taught them in their synagoges in so moche yt they were astonyed and sayde: whece cometh all this wysdome and power vnto him?
13:55	Is not this the carpeters sonne? Is not his mother called Mary? and his brethre be called Iames and Ioses and Simo and Iudas?
13:56	And are not his susters all here wt vs? Whece hath he all these thynge.
13:57	And they were offended by him. The Iesus sayd to the a Prophet is not wt out honoure save in hys awne countre and amoge his awne kynne.
13:58	And he dyd not many miracles there for there vnbelefes sake.

13:8	Some fell vpo good groude, & gaue frute: some an hundreth folde, some sixtie folde, some thirtie folde.
13:9	Who so hath eares to heare, let hi heare.
13:10	And the disciples came vnto him, and sayde: Why speakest thou to the by parables?
13:11	He answered and sayde vnto the: Vnto you it is geuen to knowe the mystery of the kingdome of heauen, but vnto them it is not geuen.
13:12	For whoso hath, vnto him shal be geue, and he shal haue abundaunce. But who so hath not, from him shalbe taken awaye, eue that he hath.
13:13	Therfore speake I vnto the by parables, for with seynge eyes they se not, & with hearinge eares they heare not, for they vnderstonde it not.
13:14	And in them is fulfilled ye prophecie of Esay, which sayeth: Ye shal heare in dede, and shal not vnderstonde: and with seinge eyes shal ye se, and not perceaue.
13:15	For ye hert of this people is waxed grosse, & their eares are thick of hearige, & their eyes haue they closed, lest they shulde once se wt ye eyes, & heare wt the eares, & vnderstode wt the hert, & turne, that I might heale them.
13:16	But blessed are youre eyes, for they se: & youre eares, for they heare.
13:17	Verely I saye vnto you: Many prophetes & righteous men haue desyred to se ye thinges that ye se, and haue not sene the: and to heare the thinges that ye heare, and haue not herde the.
13:18	Heare ye therfore the parable of the sower.
13:19	Whan one heareth ye worde of the kyngdome, and vnderstondeth it not, the euell man cometh, and plucketh it awaye that is sowne in his hert: & this is he yt is sowne by the waye syde.
13:20	But he yt is sowne in the stonye grounde, is this: wha one heareth the worde, & anone with ioye receaueth it:
13:21	neuertheles he hath no rote i him, but endureth for a season: wha trouble & persecucion aryseth because of the worde, immediatly he his offended.
13:22	As for him that is sowne amonge ye thornes, this is he: Wha one heareth the worde, & the carefulnes of this worlde, & the disceatfulnes of riches choke the worde, & so he becometh vnfrutefull.
13:23	But he yt is sowne in the good grounde, is this: whan one heareth the worde, and vnderstondeth it, and bringeth forth frute: and some geueth an hudreth folde, some sixtie folde, and some thirtie folde.
13:24	Another parable put he forth vnto the, & sayde: The kyngdome of heaue is like vnto a man, yt sowed good sede in his felde.
13:25	But whyle me slepte, there came an enemye, and sowed tares amonge ye wheate, & wente his waye.
13:26	Now wha the blade was sproge vp & brought forth frute, the ye tares appeared also.
13:27	Then came the seruautes to ye housholder, & sayde vnto him: Syr, sowdest not thou good sede in yi felde? Fro whece the hath it tares?
13:28	He sayde vnto the: that hath the enemye done. The sayde ye seruautes: wilt thou then yt we go & wede the out?
13:29	He sayde: No, lest whyle ye wede out ye tares, ye plucke vp the wheate also wt the.
13:30	Let the both growe together tyll the haruest, and in tyme of haruest I wil saye vnto the reapers: Gather ye tares first, & bynde the in sheeues to be bret: but gather the wheate in to my barne.
13:31	Another parable put he forth vnto the, and sayde: The kyngdome of heauen is like vnto a grane of mustarde sede, which a man toke, and sowed it in his felde.
13:32	Which is the leest amonge all sedes. But whan it is growne, it is the greatest amonge herbes, and is a tre: so that the byrdes vnder the heauen come and dwell in the braunches of it.
13:33	Another parable spake he vnto the: The kyngdome of heaue is like vnto leue, which a woman toke, and myxte it amonge thre peckes of meele, tyll all was leuended.
13:34	All soch thinges spake Iesus vnto ye people by parables, & without parables spake he nothinge vnto the:
13:35	yt the thinge might be fulfilled, which was spoke by ye prophet, sayenge: I wil open my mouth in parables, and wil speake out the secretes from the begynnynge of the worlde.
13:36	Then sent Iesus the people awaye, and came home. And his disciples came vnto hi, and sayde: Declare vnto us ye parable of ye tares of ye felde.
13:37	Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them: He that soweth the good sede, is the sonne of man:
13:38	the felde is the worlde: ye good sede are the childre of the kyngdome: The tares are the children of wickednes:
13:39	ye enemye that soweth the, is the deuell: ye haruest is the ende of the worlde: ye reapers are ye angels.
13:40	For like as ye tares are weded out, and brent in the fyre, eue so shal it go in ye ende of this worlde.
13:41	The sonne of man shal sende forth his angels, & they shal gather out of his kingdome all thinges yt offende, & the yt do iniquyte,
13:42	& shal cast the in to a fornace of fyre, there shalbe waylinge and gnasshinge of teth.
13:43	The shal the righteous shyne as the Sonne, in the kyngdome of their father. Who so hath eares to heare, let him heare.
13:44	Agayne, the kingdome of heauen is like vnto a treasure hyd in the felde, which a ma founde and hid it, and for ioye therof he wete & solde all yt he had, and bought yt felde.
13:45	Agayne, the kyngdome of heauen is like vnto a marchaut, yt sought good pearles:
13:46	& wha he had founde a precious pearle, he wete and solde all that he had, & bought it.
13:47	Agayne, ye kyngdome of heaue is like vnto a nett cast in to ye see, wherwith are take all maner of fyshes:
13:48	& wha it is ful, me drawe it out vnto ye shore, & sytt & gather ye good i to the vessels, but cast the bad awaye.
13:49	So shal it be also in ye ende of ye worlde. The angels shal go out, & seuer the bad fro the righteous,

13:51	And Iesus sayde vnto them: Haue ye vnderstode all these thinges? They sayde: Yee LORDE.
13:52	Then sayde he vnto the: Therfore euery scribe taught vnto ye kingdome of heauen, is like an houssholder, which bryngeth out of his treasure thinges new and olde.
13:53	And it came to passe wha Iesus had ended these parables, he departed thence,
13:54	and came in to his owne coutre, and taught the in their synagoges: in so moch, that they were astonnyed and sayde: Whece cometh soch wyssdome & power vnto him?
13:55	Is not this the carpeters sonne? Is not his mother called Mary? and his brethre Iames & Ioses, and Symon and Iude?
13:56	And are not all his sisters here with us? Whence hath he the all these thinges?
13:57	And they were offended at him. But Iesus sayde vnto the: A prophet is nowhere lesse sett by, the at home & amonge his owne.
